No I wont be going back.. If i wanted to get nickeled and dimed to death by a souless, money grubbing, delusional, lying, useless piece of crap.. Well I would rather just get a hooker for a weekend.. Or... If i was willing to pay a sub and still get nickeled and dimed to death by a souless, money grubbing, delusional, lying piece of crap... well i would just get married or something.

Its sad to see how this is going to play out as its still a sub base game now with a cash shop. I am starting to think EA wants this game dead, its just a matter if bleed the current base of every last penny they can get then watch it burn and then fight it out with LA in court. If they would have simply went the way NC soft did with Aion i think TOR would explode with users who would happily dump money into the cash store. Most wouldn't even complain about the slow progress the game has been taking as its a real ftp game, Bioware could be as silent as they want and release content packs and a ton of fluff and most including myself would never complain as I invest when I want and what i want. Making MMO's are for the brave high risk takers, and EA/Bioware have shown they are cowards that hide every chance they can, even on thier own forums, all they rely on is the hype machine and none of that works anymore. MMO's are about building communities. They could have built a massive one with a real ftp model, and once you have the people the money will come in by the boat load if you manage to keep the cash shop with items that the player base actually looks forward to having instead of being nickle and dimed because of restrictions, and eventually pay to compete then ptw. I know Ive been vocal about the games flaws and such (lets be honest here for a sec) It had something each one of us on this forum liked at some point. I think its frustration and or disappointment of watching them drop the ball over and over since beta that has some of us wound up a bit tight. I myself waited for this game in a tortured state since the leak about Bioware making a new SW MMO. Now after its all said and done, and feeling totally crushed about the genre as a whole by the outcome of the way this game has been handled, its not about taking chances and creating worlds, communties anymore its all about metrics and the bottom line. Its just like any other art form the money is a bi-product of passion, creativity, quality and immersion(see Valve,Old Bioware and ill even go as far to say Blizzard way back when). As a huge Star Wars fan with very little hope that they could have ever turned this game around anyway I can say that its now officially dead for me.

Yes everyone knows its a trial so you can stop repeating that part over and over.. Its a crap trial though. EA/Bioware can't do anything worth a shit is the actual point of the OP's comment. You see if game was any good or if they had a clue, the trial would be the whole first planet Drumund Kass,or Coruscant, ship then fleet so a new player could actually see what the game offers. Since the game is shit and offers nothing, the ship does nothing as well outside of rail missions and travel, and fleet is just a game lobby, I understand why they cut the trail off at 15 as they think people will feel that there will be more to the game, but in reality all there is to offer is an empty overhyped hunk of buggy broken shit and a big waste of a great IP. This is just my humble opinion of course...... |

The whole thing is just an elaborate scam on the people who are already paying for subs as there is no way the game will bring in more subs in the long run. This is not FTP! the game is still based on PTP.. If the cash shop wasn't going to be geared at milking the sub players then why not just have a 30 day unlimited trial as i could see that working really well for them. The freemium model is just garbage and really FTP has a bad name as it is, Bioware and others who do this freemium garbage just give it an even crapier image. Seriously just do what AION did and the game will take off as I think TOR is way better than AION. Even the BTP option would be better, but like i said they might as well leave game alone and give an unlimited 30 day trial since all they really claim to want is more subs, but i think some of us can see though the BS of milking the few hundred thousands to replace what should be millions of players. |

Very Excited here as it will be the beginning of the end.. Not a Hater of the game as it would seem that i am. Thats not true I want this game to succeed, but not a fan of and I am tired of poorly managed, poorly executed updates, arrogant game studios with very bad habits such as not even having a real PTS.. So in the end and even as a huge Star Wars fan if this game, Bioware, EA have to die for the greater good... So be it! They say FTP is the future of gaming.. Imo thats poor quality and unoriginal games that are simply pathetic cash grabs, while I think whoever figures out that its quality and originality that should be the real future of gaming will be greatly rewarded. I would galdly pay $40 or more a month for a good quality game that I get Imersed in as I already drop CCP close to a $100 every month when I play. too lazy to grind that many ETCs lol.. As for the white knights saying I had unrealistic expectations.. I didn't care if it was a Sand Box, Theme Park, Hybrid, Story co-op RPG. I just wanted a Star Wars game that worked and have some clear direction. Not some game that gets worse with every update and basically a game that is riddled with contradictions around every system or development path.

Biowares f2p model, bringing segregation back!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/16/12 11:23:42 PM
LOL @ the 3 WZ a week.. I can see the FTPers getting 3 Huttballs back to back and start wasting the 3 Wz's by leaving when Huttball pops up every time. Way to bring in those subs yo! I think that 50 million number thrown around by EA is a huge understatement.. lol |

Biowares f2p model, bringing segregation back!
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/16/12 2:33:06 PM
This is not all true. If its nothing more than an extended trial, then why the cash shop? Imo its not the extended trial as you call it that will hurt the game, its the cash shop. They are still counting on a player paying a sub for the main source of revenue, and sure there will be items for them to nickle and dime the FTPers, but i am willing to bet that majority items are going to be there to get even more money out of players paying a sub as the way most freemium games work. The game sould go BTP with cash shop filled with boosters, legacy perks for cash but still grindable, skin jobs for armor weapons, and account options such as server transfers, or more char slots. Even a true unrestricted FTP like AION could be good, then they could create a variety of fluff items, and utility items. Freemium is designed to milk an already paying player base for even more. Sure you will get some cartel coins every month but it wont be enough, as its basically a dealer only giving you enough to get hooked on the product. Sooner or later depending on the failure or success of the conversion has, It will go PTW. |

Biowares f2p model, bringing segregation back!

One of the things I remember coming up was the limited access to speeders. I was LMAO as it was mentioned about not letting FTP players buy speeders at all, I could only imagine how many new subs the game would get with a FTP player having to run all around Hoth and other large planets to unlock the taxi speeders. On PVP server the fail would be epic as the gankers just go on patrol between a few bases and lock the noobs out of content as they have to spawn back at the base they started the death run from and try over and over till they rage uninstall.. Just for the humor aspect i still hope thats the plan, but surely they cannot be that stupid and let the FTPs at least buy the first tier of speeder as it will still be very annoying getting knocked off by every single rat in game. But its is EA so we know its going to be bad we just need to see how bad. Should be entertaining to say the least. |

Its all nice that they won those awards and such but really it just doesn't matter. As for 1.5 being on the PTS, thats cool and everything and hope they can pull it off but they haven't even fixed a lot bugs from 1.4 yet. This could yet be another Bioware disaster in the making, bugs from 1.4 and soon 1.5 and the FTP conversion. I hope for the sake logic that 1.5 is on the PTS for extensive testing only, but giving Biowares track record i would be pretty nervous if i was a current player who is planning on staying after ftp.

Why do you read SWTOR threads?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/11/12 2:22:18 AM
I wouldn't say its egocentric as it is nothing more than an observation. I went through the CU, NGE with galaxies and in a way the same thing is happening with TOR. You have on one side people that are critical of the game and developers who are called haters but in reality we want the game to succeed, and on the other side you have people who claim the game is perfect and that Bioware can do no wrong while the game spirals into the ground. I didn't break Ilum then close it down, Screw up PVP after 1.2 then 1.3, over nerf or over buff classes, come up with a lame resolve system, have a magic PVP stat that they added in the last few beta's against most of the communities wishes, remove a bunch of gear and items from beta, make a useless crafting system, space on rails, create a bunch of gear grinds and credit sinks, poor legacy system, release broken OP's, or lack any real public test server, come up with the gear RNG system of failure, choose an engine that was in beta and not optimize it, or open way too many servers at launch, not release a LFG tool at launch, dual spec, broken back fill for WZ's, lower the TTK to 3 globals, not have any tiers in PVP, any real type of end game thats not mind numbing, Valor Farmers, premades vrs pug farming, or FTP... i could go on for 5 pages but i wont. No if players would actually demand higher quality or even just to have a real test server with real testing that would even be a step in the right direction but most of the feedback would go ingnored as it did with the Betas i took part in. Its actually sad about the quality of updates Bioware has been giving. look at my first post on this account as i lost my old account, I think I gave it a rating of 9 and I loved the story part of the game it wasn't until i hit 50 with 2 chars and 48 on another and all the broken crap every patch and things not working no eta's or communication at all really. Hey all I wanted to do was play a SW MMO that worked and would be more than happy to pay monthly for it, but i guess thats too much to ask for, and considering the 2.4 million box sales compared to what they have last stated about subs over 500k less than a million I can safely say that I am not alone. White Knights and fanbois kill what could be a great game, Imagine if everyone left SWG with the NGE i would be willing to bet the CU version would still be around, or maybe the Pre CU, If the people didn't rage at CCP and its cash shop i would be willing to bet the game would be PTW by now. So in closing people who bitch and stop funding poor habits from developers are gamers who love games.. White Knights bring us FTP with loot boxes, cash grabs and crappy games. You should demand better as a gamer imo and hopefully as this game fails it sends a clear message to the industry. EA/Bioware could turn things around if they could get people with real talent and direction and not these clowns they have currently but the ironic part is anyone with those qualities would never work of EA anyway.. why would they? Reap was you have sown EA... |

Why do you read SWTOR threads?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/10/12 8:59:20 PM
I guess its just fun to read the posts of delusional white knight ala Bioware Defense Force dudes defending this game. Plus its like the old SWG veteran refugee forum. Yet again we get to sit and watch another SW MMO die a slow painful, horrible but yet well deserved death. Im not bitter about it and i really could care less either way tbh, its just a perfect storm of bad stuff happening to the genre everything from TOR being a bad cut, copy, and paste job of WoW, to the market being flooded with this type of crap MMO, Bioware's lack of talent or experience in MMO's( IMO its both), Bioware's secrecy like its pre launch hype(Soon) that just kills me!!! LOL, when in fact most of the MMO's Ive played always let the base know about some kind of yearly path of development of things not written in stone but what they are shooting for. CCP does this and even SOE did this with SWG. I could throw in the bad CSR, Bioware's arrogance, crappy engine, ftp, the way they handled mergers and forced name changes and poor buggy updates as they continue to break more than they fix in every update since launch into the mix as well but thats like kicking a baby at this point as all they really seem to do well and consistently is piss of the player base. Not a formula for success imo. Too many bad things happened to this game everything from bad luck, bad timing to poor management, if not for the IP game would have suffered the same fate as Earth and Beyond and Tabula Rosa. In the end I hope I'm wrong and they can turn it around as i really want to play a SW MMO but as for the current state the game is in, I was not enjoying any of it outside of the story part, and lost all faith and doubt that they will, and really really not a fan of FTP at all.

EA must be getting desperate
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 10/09/12 11:19:06 AM
Well tbh I was thinking of giving it one more month before FTP hit so i could finish the IA story in peace, as I did like that aspect of the game, but after reading the forums about how buggy the game has been with 1.4 i decided to try the free account thing before I could find it in myself giving EA/Bioware any money at all. Played a new Sorc and Guardian for a bit getting them both off the starter worlds Korriban, and Tython. Seems thats they have indeed improved on performance in fleet, and planets, but its really glitchy and had some white screen crash issues that i never had before, user interface stuck on screen during loading screens, random massive drops in FPS and character stuck running with some camera oddities that i can't put my finger on but something is off. Overall not tempted to ever go back, and as a huge SW fan it bums me out that I can say without a doubt that I'm permanently done with the game and would like to see it all just dissapear like it never happened, and hope LA would have that maybe the third time is the charm outlook but i doubt that will ever happen. Ill just watch the story parts on You Tube i suppose and wait for 1313. TY Bioware/EA for robbing us Star Wars fans from a game that the IP and fans deserves to have... GL with your FTP scam A-Holes.

I like Raph but.... Im tired of his long winded pseudo intellectual garbage. I have more respect for the guys in the trenches trying to make the games good or bad over some pretentious wind-bag who will talk for hours but will never offend anyone or say anything at all in fact. Just go to one of his things that he is a guest speaker at.. you will actually leave feeling like a dumber person for sitting through that endless nonsense! Until dude gets back into the MMO game and tries to create something there is no reason to talk about it or play the theory crafting whack sessions. Sad to see him become this worse than an armchair general type. Seriosly love the guys work in SWG and it pisses me off a bit that he is doing this social media bs when he obviously has the skills and intelligence to do something great.. Sorry Raph but STFU already.. |

BioWare is dead. Electronic Arts (EA) is all thats left :-(
General Gaming « General Discussion 10/05/12 7:57:27 AM
Well for me I figured Bioware was dead with the release of DA2, I know some people say Bioware was done for with the release of ME2, I myself didn't mind ME2 as I kinda liked the FPS/RPG hybrid style for ME2, but i will agree that ME1 with the focus of RPG with a FPS shooter feel was amazing and just a better game. I was so hyped up for TOR as i love Star Wars and loved KOTOR, and fell in love with DA Origins.... Yeah my hype meter was off the chart considering 3 out of 5 of my favorite games of all time came from Bioware so all was good... Then DA2 hit and i was like uhhhhhhh what is this crap??, and started hoping it was just some lame cash grab as TOR was becoming the most costly MMO made to date. From that moment on I was loaded with anxiety about TOR, then the beta invite and I realized all my fears soon to become reality. Bioware is no more just another brand name for EA to hustle its crap through, and what bothered me the most about it, was the endless lies that come out of thier mouths about everything. At first it angered me now its comic relief and I rather enjoy all the double talking BS, they dont get my money now and its pretty safe for me to say not in the future either so its not my problem. As for the people that are left. Gabe is just a moron and has no idea or talent, Im starting to think that this man has taken butt kissing to whole new level that humanity never thought possible as there is no other explanation avail at this time why this guy has been able to work on two major projects and repeat almost everything that went wrong with the first one. Its almost fun to watch in a sick way. Mr Ohlen is delusional at best and extremely arrogant.. Im personally creeped out by dude tbh. Dallas NGE nothing more to be said about him... Bioware is dead.
