Fake Thread? Closed Beta VIP Code Giveaway - Day 5?
General Discussion « Rift 11/29/10 4:50:15 PM
I was post number 98 on this thread upon using this link: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/3934097#3934097 Now it just takes you to the general disccusion page, I have not recieved any confirmation of this thread being false. Being that it does redirect I can only surmise that it was and has been deleted. So now you have 100 people who might be out of the room thinking they are on their way to recieve a beta VIP key like myself. Only to find they have been screwed out of it.

Runes of Magic: New Instance Brings Big Challenges
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/26/10 3:04:20 PM
When you pay as much a subscription rate for upgrading your items (thru +1 item shop gems for example) and you end up marginly better cause the failure rate is so high, thats just a rip off. And if your gonna troll at least try to make a valid arguement not just an 8 word response. |

Do not bother with this game unless you want to pay more then your standard subscription prices to keep up with the rest of the existing (high end) player base. |

What if a game had two types of servers, item mall and monthly sub?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/22/09 9:35:56 AM
Another item mall v Sub discussion, i'll throw in my two cents *plonik* Item mall:- Some people will argue item mall is great for casual players, and most of them just contain fluff items. And one MMO that comes to mind is DOMO quite simple if you don't buy the xp + tokens your gonna be grinding for a VERY long time. Not that there is much else to do besides oh grind out tradeskill stuff while your asleep, but thats getting away from the point. Item malls do give an advantage be it a slight advantage or large in the form of a pet which is a whole other player basicly that attacks and grows with you (DOMO). Item malls have really soured the MMO experience, you really have to ask yourself if you buy from item malls to enhance your abilities, did i earn this, the answer is no, you may not have time to camp 'said' mob in the game because your casual, or you don't want to and you earn plenty of money in real life i'll spend it how I please!. Well I think you will find if you join a good guild or just make some good friends that may have more time then you they will camp it for you or get you a better item , these games are MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE, Item mall just makes for loners with too much RL cash to burn. Sub: - Subscription is the best way and thats why EQ (pre Item mall and a few xpacs), WoW, Lotro have all done so well (as for lotro, it may not have the number of subs but they make enough to release new content for free so they must be doing ok). Now ok yes it sucks for casuals as I have become over the past year, I have to verse no lifers in PvP who have full rank the best armour, but at least I know at some point that person has taken the time to go out and get that gear to be that good, their social life might be that of an skunk but, yes they earned it. And so what do I do, I adapt do some research and perhapps find an item that could help me if i invest the time to get it. Or I quit my job, and suddenly had more time one day i could be as good or better but at least I have that option, where as an item mall could give an unfair advantage cause i don't have to earn it i can just buy what i need. The other thing is you can easily over spend on an Item mall the exchange on these are usually crap, I know of one guy who spent 3 months worth of sub MMO fees on one hit on xp tokens and heal pots. Remember kids Item Malls are for people like SoE. Screwing over gamers since 1999. |

How do you come up with a name for your MMORPG character and why that name?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/12/09 7:19:14 PM
Always use the name Ulag. It all started back in the day of Baldur's gate when I was playing online and heat.net was constantly telling me i had x amount blocks of lag, go go 56k modem. So when i went to name my first MMO character with my standard name on EQ1, it would not let me use it because it was a reserved name for a class. After several other attempts to name my character and no luck i was getting frustraited, bashed my keyboard, and up came Ulag and it finally took, so Ulag is now the online MMO character name of choice >). On a side note the last name 'darquel' was derived from playing on the Quellious server and was because i was an evil dark elf.

I just went to enter the dreamlords comp for the great mouse read through all the Eligibility as listed below. Eligibility Where does it say only open to residents of North America and Europe, oh the next page AFTER you have agreed to enter. Not happy about it at all, would be fine it added in the eligibility details. And yeah i'm from Australia in every other comp, just not this one with it's surprise cuttoffs. |

World of Warcraft: Correspondent - A Look at Gear in WoW
News Discussion « General Discussion 9/12/08 6:53:59 PM
While the gear in WoW has some big stats across the board, all their items are cookie cutter designed for a class in mind, the majority of items are there to accent the abilities of said class, which is fine but leads to just increasing power on the same abilites over and over again. In previous MMO's they did break this let me explain... In EQ1 I had a cleric with the eyepatch of plunder (self hatse buff) + a very fast hatse belt, now you might ask, is he crazy or smoking somthing, but i could buff myself for melee speed and i also had a staff which would proc an AE heal, so melee was viable in the end it would heal minor damage inculding some from mob's AE's, the majority of clerics sat there and flash/ "complete heal" without ever swinging a weapon since passing level 50. I awas also a follower of Innoruuk(sp) and a very easy minor old world quest resulted in a necklace that cast snare, i used to use the hell out of it to stop runners it was great. Break the mold, why not give a warrior a sword which every 5 mins can cast a long range flamestrike, or give armour that gives you a self buff to resistances that lasts 4 hours as long as you wear it, instead of the lets give mortal strike 5 more damage points they'll like that! Thats where character customiztion fails in WoW, althought the majority of my WoW BC knowledge is before they started to raid much. Feel free to point out anything that shows that WoW can break the item molds, but at this point I;m not hoping for a miracle from WotLK.

World of Warcraft: Blizzard Discourages Gold Buying
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/01/08 4:15:54 PM
LOTRO did something about this ages ago first by porting low level resource takers (after they get killed) back to the starting area's and increasing agro range by 500 percent ,even spawning new ones to kill them quick if they venture into high level area's, and with the new update you can report a spammer in seconds. Like the lorebook WoW is just copying the competition they deserve no accolades for this, too little too late. I left after BC just came in, if repair costs are still as silly as they used to be thats why gold farmers are so successful, when you raid hardcore and thats how you have your fun you really don't feel like farming for 2 hours to make your repair bill but as I stated, that may have changed since my leaving.
