Plus a few more. It sounds like you're not looking for "game engines" so much as "game makers" (as by the "Regular RPG question" title), if that's the case I have no idea if those even exist.

I have never agreed with full loot and think you're completely right.

I do however agree to player looting, but I've always enjoyed the games where you drop your backpack and have a chance of dropping 1 or 2 random equipped items. FULL loot pushes the bar too far for me and I don't enjoy it one tiny bit. Especially in those games where developers seem to think that players will police themselves. It's not going to happen and it will never happen, they need to stop thinking it will.

Over the past 10yrs now, Darkfall has been my greatest disappointment(sp?) in gaming. At first it seemed awesome, then years and years went by with no updates to the development of the game which lead many ppl to believe it was vaporware, and then the pile of garbage that is the game was released that offered only 1 single thing that had been promised in those years and years of development: FFA Full Loot PVP.

Well, I think it's terrible if that's any consolation.

It sounds like you took abunch of very generic movie music that is designed to eliminate dead air and poorly added a beat, that doesn't match the music what-so-ever over top.

If that.

It's bad. Very bad.

You will find quite a few gamers in college, trust me. Especially if you are going into either Comp Engineering or Comp Sci.

Online TCGs don't have clients, that's your problem. There are tons of them out there in just about any flavor you're looking for, but having a dedicated client is overkill and really not all that effective for a TCG. Flash or Unity are much more lightweight and accounts can be played and accessed from any computer.

There is Eredan iTCG, which is mostly through Facebook, but I believe you can play w/o a FB account.

There is Urban Rivals, which is a slightly different take on the TCG Genre.

There is Ederon, which has probably been one of my favorites over the years. I haven't played since around 2009, but it is a solid game.

When I googled "Online TCG" I came up with at least 5 lists of top 10 or so Online TCGs. There are quite a few out there. There is an Asian one that is well done, though I don't like the gameplay.

From my experience, the only games you should really stay away from is Chaotic (which you said is shut down, good ridence. It was garbage and was 100% Marketing and 0% Gameplay) and Warstorm. Warstorm doesn't let you play the cards yourself, they are drawn at random. The "strategy" is supposed to be how you build your deck, but that's just a way of sayin "We made this game so the biggest morons on Facebook can play".

There is also a fairly large and complex TCG that exists in Second Life. It's fairly good too if it's still around. I don't remember the name.

lol seriously, what do you think a petition is going to do?

Absolutely nothing. This isn't a bill. This isn't a cause. This is a criminal case. You could get everyone in the world outside the government to sign it, all 6.8billion of us and you know what you're going to accomplish? Nothing. Nothing at all.

A year and a half of "Prelude" with very few changes or additions, I can see why carts would make the news.

Just let this one die. Granted the dev team is very small, but the dev team is also very very lazy on top of it. By the time this game becomes anything playable, it's going to look like the equivelent of this:

If what you say about Xsyon is true I might give Uncharteted waters a try, but I'm in the mood for à survivor type of game. I thought maybe Xsyon had some more substance now.

You are required to go through a tutorial island now in Wurm.

Check the date

Being a member of a number of forums, mostly based around games, I have to say that I have seen this posted at least once a month for the past 4yrs. Eve 4yrs ago is not what it is today. Eve 7yrs ago (when I first started the first time) is not what it was 4yrs ago. In 4yrs, EVE will not be what it is today.

Either way, it's a dead horse and has been posted countless number of times. I'm sure if you click a few pages back here, you will see at least 1 post with this in it.... unless just deletes them.

Xsyon or Wurm

Xyson is a shell of a game with 'meh' graphics. If you liked to play in a sandbox with nothing but your hands when you were a kid, then Xyson is for you.

Wurm is a fully fleshed out game that has terrible graphics. If you liked to play in a sandbox with lots and lots of really cool toys, then Wurm is for you.

Wurm has spent years changing, growing, and becoming better. The game at it's core, is vritually everything I had hoped the genre would evolve into after playing my first MMO in '99. Mechanically, the game is amazing and even though I really don't care about graphics, after about 6months the graphics really weighed in on me and I gave it up. (yeah they are that bad)

In short, no, it is not worth it.

40$ + 15$/mo is a ridiculous overvalueing of the game and development.

The world has already been thoroughly built and explored by previous players. "Prelude" should have been over months ago.

I played Prelude or the Prelude to Prelude over a year and a half ago. Having tried the game out in the past few months on a friend's account (after I told him not to), VERY little has changed.

By VERY little, I mean.... I could barely tell a difference.

LoL is a failed experiment.

Easy to spot those who tried and got whooped. Bash it any chance they get, prolly playin WoW right now.

At times no, it isnt bad, but those times are so far and few between now. I dont worry about elo, it means nothing, u play the same game wether ur high or low. LoL is repetitve and boring at best anymore. New champs yeah, but they r all basically the same and every match goes the same basic way. Not much brainpower or skill needed for it. It is a good secondary game to play when your main is down thats about it.

I have to agree. I like the fact that they are developing the game more and more and showing people what they are developing, via new champions.... however I can't remember the last new champ I enjoyed playing against. Maybe Skarner, and that's just because he was complete garbage when he was released. The newest is the worst with her built in Frozen Mallet as a passive and super tanking abilities.

What makes it worse, is alot of the times they seem to intentionally make the new champs OP then as soon as the new champ skin sale goes away... BAM broken. Take Fizz for example, he was probably the worst recent offender. What is he now? A very crappy version of Kass.

Dominion was a failure, imho. I'm not sure how many people like it, but it seems to be going down pretty fast. To me it's kind of just a way to get a feel for a champ in pvp (warm up) before playing him in ranked.

How so? I don't play WoW, for the record ;)

LoL is #2 largest online game on the western market.

LoL makes more in a month than some of the largest P2P games make in 3. Somewhere around $11.5mil per month with a staff of <75.

LoL is a failed experiment.

So is WoW I guess.

I don't find them bad, honestly. Yeah they are here and there, but at the right times they aren't too bad.

If you would have asked me 2 weeks ago when the kiddies were out of school, I would have sung a different tune. I lost 200 Elo in Solo/Duo Queue over those 2 weeks. My Ranked stats were 99 wins to 87 losses. By the time the Christmas break ended, it was 100 wins to 102 losses. It's gaining back in the positive and I'm gaining elo again and things have gone back to normal.

Play at the right times, when the kids are in bed or when they are in school and you should be fine.

I have noticed that the kids are winning the Tribunal. I don't participate in it much because it's not worth the time/ip gain, but the few times I have in the past couple months, the Tribunal is absolutely flooded with kids reporting people who are reporting them or just reporting people for absolutely no reason what-so-ever. This is extremely counter productive and I am starting to think that the Tribunal experiment has failed miserably.

However, if you see more trolls than normal you're probably running into people like me. I consider myself a good player, I'm not the best by any means, but I'm not shit either. I jungle alot and if I screw up once or maybe twice and someone starts hounding me about it constantly and won't stop, I will actually start doing things besides blatant feeding that will make the other team win. I will start teamfights I know we will loose, I will make sure our jungle is completely clear constantly, and I will try to steal farm from anyone I'm around. I don't care if I'm in a ranked match or not, those people piss me off.

If I get called out on it, usually I just say "I'm bad, remember? Sorry can't help it". It's not a waste of time for me either, over 2000 matches played since mid 2010 and I have learned something new in just about every single one.

I like pie.

Same here. To me it's probably an even worse game than Alganon, but with exponentially more money spent on Advertising.

The only thing they injected into the WoW Clone Mold, was a very annoying mechanic that disrupted normal gameplay and was really nothing more than extremely annoying. Something that alot of people could see what doomed before the first beta even began. Then they took this idea and named their game after it, like it was a great idea.

Dresden Files are freaking great. I'm on the 4th book now and have loved every one so far.

Hunger Games are...... ok.... the movie looks better than the book imho.

Nik and Cal Leandros series is good. Starts with the book "Night Life".

Hunters Run by George RR Martin (Game of Thrones author) is a good book.

If you're looking for cheap buys, all of Christian Cantrell's books are $0.99, all decent length, and out of the 2 or 3 I've read are amazing.

As a vet myself, I also highly suggest getting something that's big enough to put in your upper pants pocket and not stored in your Cargo Pocket where it's going to get crushed. I used an iPod Nano for movies, music, and TONS of Audio Books in 2008. iPod Nano is pretty sturdy too. Worked great for when I was in the field. Also back in 2008, a cracked PSP was one of the best things on Earth.

Also, if you haven't read it read Dune. I read it in Iraq and it was kinda trippy to listen to a book about the Iraq war written in the 60's. You're prob going to Afg, but same principle.

5 classes, I believe it's 4 players per instance, it might be 5. I haven't been in beta for a month, my gaming rig crashed :/ gotta replace parts.

Anyway, 5 classes at the outset is fine. I'm sure they will add 1-2 per expansion, possibly release one as DLC. They need to ensure that each class plays uniquely.

I was thinking the same thing. DLC or Expansions.

I like laptops, now. I used to be big on desktops over laptops, but today their performance in games is pretty simliar. Sure, you can push out the best graphics in a desktop, you can get the highest framerate and all that jazz........ but you still have to sit at your desk and not on the couch, or anywhere else you want to play. With a laptop of comparable price to a machine that can run great graphics, you can trade the best graphics for high graphics and be mobile.

I've been using a mid level laptop for about 1.5yrs now and it's done me great. I don't have a problem running any game I try (I don't try alot but Skyrim, LoL, SWTOR, etc. have all been played on it) and I can bring it with me anywhere.

It's mostly up to the person. If I get another desktop, it's not going to be a desktop like what I had in the past, it's going to be a station for my laptop like I have at work. I can lock it into my station and use it on as a regular desktop with dual screens, or I can pick it up and take it with me.
