C'mon Mythic, throw us a bone. We arent 12 year olds, design a game with some blood and guts in it, this is WARHAMMER, not WoW2

Post a link to your wow armory. If it shows you have done high end content, then you can talk smack. Until then, nope.

i dont really think you get to decide wheter or not someone can post that they think WoW is too simple.. and it doesnt take someone that has been playing for a few years to reach that conclusion.. or a certain amount of endgame either

now i read the OP like 15 times, and i dont know why everyone thinks hes talkign about perma-death. i figure he means a penalty for death, not perma death.  like some sort of deterrent, ya know, make it so you dont want to die? its not supposed to be fun to not want to die, but come on, you pay 2g in repairs and have to walk back? oh no.... and as for fast transport, its good in some ways, bad in others.. good cuz who wants to walk for 6 hours to get somewhere, bad, because then theres no point to all the stuff in between..

WoW brought MMO's into the mainstream.. sure thats good for the companies so they can make money, but its not good for the genre.. everything does end up "watered down". it becomes all pretty colors and easy gameplay, so you can sell copies...

Care to die meaningful? I mean, come on. It is so really important, so exciting and meaningful for us if you die.
Ok, it was a joke.

Do you really believe, that if you anonymous guy die, you have any effect to anonymous us?

...where dieing means nothing. You played UO, so you must be fukkin old. Either you are a poor little being, or you really experienced some "meaningful" deaths.

Didnt your mother ever teach you " if you cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all"? He didnt once say anythign about dying meaning alot, but in UO, if you died, you actually lost something.. ya know, it gave you a reason to not want to die. in WoW if you die 20 times in a day, yo ulose a handful of gold. UO, you lose everything you had, unless you are lucky.

And OP, ive played  20+ MMORPGs in  the past 7 years. Ive had fun with a few, but nothing that comes close to old school UO. i remember being so awed when id see "Glorious Lord ____ , Grandmaster Mage". i picked it up again since then, and it doesnt take much to get that now.. the thrill is gone..remember when PvP didnt exist? it was PK? and not an option? run for your life when you see a dread lord or the words "Corp Por" over someones head? haha id give anythign for those days to come back

They made a game like old school UO some years ago but people didn't want to play it.

You had your chance, now shut that pie hole.

no need to be ignorant, and im not a mind reader so i dont knwo what you are talking about
The other day i had a hankering for some giant robot combat, so i was gonna bust out FM4 for ps2, but it sucks so i went out and bought FM3 for ps. its dated, but still fun, but it got me thinking about MMOs. its hard to play normal rpgs since entering the mmo world, so i lloked up Front Mission, and discovered there is a online version out in japan.. i was pretty excited, until i realized it was just a turn based strategy you play against someone else.  Why isnt anyone out there working on a giant robot MMO? and if they are, can somone give me directions? i think one with the same sort of look as Front Mission, and with the same style of upgrades, would be alot of fun. anyone else out there agree?

now i never made it to endgame.. was like lv 55 when tbc came out. most of my server was endgame already, as was my pal who got me into it. Then tbc comes out, and it does just replace all the 57-60 content. all the time i spent so excited to do the later dungeons and raids, and ill never get to do them. you mgiht say " find some friends to do them" but you find 25-40 veteran players to do a raid that they did a hundred times to do it a hundred more for absolutely nothing except so i could see the story, especially when they have their own stuff to do. They might as well havev erased strat, brs, mc, bwl, naxx and the rest, for all that anyone wil lever see them again. now i dont know much about the new endgame, but from what i  hear, its not as fun. I feel for the people whos spent the past year raiding for gear that they have to replace. As far as TBC content goes, it deosnt have the same feel, or fun. the grind just seems more annoying too. all in all it seems more like a downgrade across the board, cept for the lv cap.  i quit a few months ago too, but if the ratio of people posting here who quit is any indication of the amount who are quitting, that expac can almost be considered a disaster, if it didnt cost $40 anyway
yeah theres also that.. one thing i do like about WoW  is if i have 45 mins i can play.. FFXI i wouldnt go near if i didnt have 2 hours+ to dedicate to it

Arcken, im with ya 100%.. cept my first console rpg was DW.. i personally felt that the FF series peaked at FF2, and then went downhill... it turned into like final scifi on ps.. man i miss my 16 bit rpgs when it took more than graphics to sell a game.

Ziabatsu, i agree, i could put 15 hours or so in and get close to lv 20, but give the game to anyone that has never played before, and no in-game friend help, and theres no chance they get past 10.

FFXI is a hardcore game.. this was once a hardcore genre.. i guess its just about making money now, they have to water MMOs down to appeal to the masses. Its the compexity and difficulty that always appealed to me about games. It does kinda suck that you cant really solo effectively past 15, and its hard as hell to find a group sometimes, but it forces you to meet people. I met a guy in WoW a while ago who never interacted with another player til lv 58. 58!! its an MMO! that second M is for multiplayer. i say screw the masses and go back to h-core. if ya want to solo all the time buy an offline rpg, or somethign like diablo.

teganx, go play WoW then if you dont want a challenge
theres no instancing, so the rmt farm all the good places to level, and farm al lthe good drops so you cant get the drops yourself.. so you have to buy them, and since you cant get the drops, you cant get money to buy the good drops, so ya end up having to buy gil... and the economy gets all screwed up. i quit because of them.. i could never find places to group because of them.. really sucks the fun out of a game when 3/4 of the players in any given area are gil farmers
nothing will ever come close to UO for me, it was the first mmorpg, and ive learned too much about them since then. oh and tthye are all mass marketed now, so they are made much more user friendly, so just being dropped in the middle of nowhere to fend for yourself wont ever happen again. I played lotro beta for about an hour. I know i didnt give it much of a chance, but ive never been a big fan of middle earth and the character models seemed a bit too generic.im not a big fan of being led by the hand in storylines either. But if you guys have any luck with keeping the pwerrleveling and the l337 players out of it, and if you enjoy it, then you will be some damn lucky, and maybe ill give it another try.
i dont like nerfs, but they are never going to go away. there is never gonna be a "perfect" game out there, no matter how much time devs put into it. Players will alway find a way to take advantage of clas ablilities, and people who cant will always whine aobut it, until devs do something about it.now, ive never understood why they have to  take away from these classes instead of adding to the others, or at least keep a healthy balance between the 2, but thats another story. Anyway, moral of the story is, you'll never find a game with "balanced" classes, and even if you do, theres gonna be some ppl who disagree and cry till the nerf bat comes out.
ok two things. Keogh, the 2nd sentence the OP wrote was that there is no NDA. I cant believe someone would comment on a post without even reading the post. and two, Abronz, how do you know the OP's motivation for playing the game? did he tell you this? or ya just make it up? and besides, who isnt motivbated by the "free" aspect of beta testing? can you say there are people do it just to "make it better" ?

i popped into EB the other day to see about pre-orders and as of now they are listing release as june 2. i imagine that wil lget pushed back, but i hope not
cupertino, we all know most games since UO(haha pre-eq) had fees, but there are alot of gmaes coming out lately that have free online play, once you guy the game.. guild wars, is one i think, but in any case, i think ive read this one is pay to play

if yo uwant a game with timing, try FFXI. skillchains and magic bursts require casting and using skills a certain amount of time after another player does, and only certain skills chain.. its a pretty cool system.

oh and i agree some of those moves look like they would hurt, but you play a demigod. they can take it, im sure. and either way, its waay better then the same slashing motion over and over

im sure its not 2 mill, i was just using a number someone else just pulled out of the air, i jsut used it so i wouldnt be talking in "x" and "y' numbers. my experience with farmers is solely from FFXI, where you would actually encounter them. You wouldnt really get much contact with farmers, due to instancing. oh and sure, stereotyping is bad, and all that, but we are talking in groups of  millions. stereotypes are kinda necessary when not talking about individuals. no need to be so touchy. this is a message board, not something that actually matters

i agree 2 mill gold farmers isnt an outrageous amount. 3.5 mil players in china? thats like $80 a month to them, considering what their money is worth and buys for them. i wouldnt be surprised to hear if it was all gold farming accounts. FFXI had a huge problem with it, which is why i left. But with instances in WoW, the farmers dont interrupt gameplay like they do in FFXI, so i doubt they wil lever do anythign about it. As far as TBC goes, its pretty much as if they jsut made the game 10 lvs longer. i feel for my friends that played from launch ad raided for a year or so to get gear that is useless to them now, only to see that they are jsut right back at endgame 2 weeks later. Oh and it made all the previous endgame content useless, unless yo uhave 40 friends to run you through the raids before you level past 60 too much. Im not trashing TBC, but since i wasnt endgame before, there was nothing added that i could actually look forward to, cept 10 more lvs till endgame. but im sure the ppl compaining on here represent a decent chunk of the population. but so do the ppl defending it, and probably in similar proportions. and jsut because someone is let down with the add on doesnt mean they are gonna quit. but i bet alot of veteran players will not be interested in raiding for 2 years to get gear again, jsut to see it all go in the next add on.

of course people will still run 5 man dungeons, but the bigger ones end game would take too much organization. you can get better gear in the new places right away than you could get in any of the raid dungeons that would actually be possible to do. I never made lv 60 before BC came out, and i always wanted to try those raids, but itll never happen now. My guild tried to get naxx going, but the most we could get was 25 ppl.. plenty to do it, but i was the only one that would have been able to use the drops, since most of the rest were at 70. can you imagine how hard it would be to get 25-40 ppl to do something thats not actually going to benefit them, where there is lv 70 endgame content that will?
