I care I was lied that AoW was sandbox but in reality is the worst scam ever.

Things that make this game sandbox according to fanboys: No restrictions - Say what??? I had a quest to go to the guild NPC and he gave me a quest to make my own guild or join a guild but I couldn't cause I was restricted by my "growth" ops another thing that came to mind this game has no levels??? really??? I can't join a guild cause I'm too weak yet??? isn't that what leveling is??? so pretty much you gain different titles that characterise your levels for example: mind and body are weak or something stupid like that.

Some here said you don't have to touch quests at all...really??? I did only quests and thats how I got sword style and like 20 skills if I didn't I would never had those skills.

To the guy who says cash shop is not a problem,I deleted this game and can't get screenshots of everytime I was asked to go topoff real money to my account it was so often its not even funny. I played total of 3 hours was asked about 30+ times to go add money everytime I pressed to add a skill or something and at the end to open my shop or gain offline skills that's the biggest unfainess I ever seen in these scam games.

There is more than combat alone.Strange as it may seem, some people like crafting and farming mats.If AoW is the best place for these kind of people?  IMHO no, there isnt much depht: almost zero progression in farming(buy it, plant it. or just click on the shiny rock)

Yep the gathering is the same except for the fishing, where it's a mini game. 90% (or more) recipies take multiple items for example, to craft a blade you need -

if a mini games is spamming left and right mouse button, than I agree with you.

This game is made by one of the Guys who shaped the Genre with his very own ideas.
It's a Jakebox based and improved on his old ideas in L1 and L2.

This game is not for Hardcore FFA Sandbox people and it's not for your gear treadmill Themepark audience.

Having said that, i don't understand how item decay "durability" helps "sandbox" when it's just a dumb moneysink via npc. I personally find it pointless and just annoying.
A full craft only & repair economy for gear will not happen in Archeage either, see above.

true, when it's the typical implementation of item decay : get back to npc and pay a few gold for a full repaired item -  more a  meaningless money sink than an actual component of the economy, which it should have been.

but when done right, it strengthens the stickability and community of a given game - a game were explorers and crafters have both a meaningfull place, interacting with eachother.

in SWG crafters were server famous, because it wasn't just a one time purchase.  You had to make friends, and keep the lines open, because your Power Hammer was gonna wear out, and you needed to know who the crafter with the best Crafting Stations were to get back in the game.

Without item decay why would you care who made your armour? Ones achieved the highest tier?

5)Full Loot (do items even have durability without the option to repair them?)

more casual stuff is being added to AA lately, durability is to hardcore.

What bothers me  the most is the lack of progression in gathering skills, there isnt something to work towards.

Been farming the highest crops and mining gold/lead from day one, in EvE as a miner you had to work for your ship and mining skills, you had a goal. im missing the joy of achieving  a goal.

As my time is limited (1hour a day) i havent crafted that much, but im feeling it will be the same. Buy the recipe and materials from a player and use it. To be honest im not seeing the joy in this.

As i havent played that much and my time is limited by the restrictions, im hopping im wrong.

I think you work towards the 'achievements' that they have built in teh game, the ones that give you titles and gear.

Aside from that, you gather either to be a trader or to craft. And mostly craft to make money.

A title above your head that's it, nothing more. There realy isnt anything to work towards as a non combat player.

Exactly. No one is asking how the game meets some defintion of the true essence of sandbox.

@Biskop,

What can a player do in the game?

Are the non-combat activities something can make their primary activity or is progression solely through killing?

What makes the game actually different other than how they do the fighting?

What are the meaningful ways players interact with each other?

What do you mean by working economy?

It's a 7.4gb download, just give it a try.

Im one of those people that hate killing mob after mob and grinding quests. Havent touched any mob yet, did some fishing, farming and crafting gear for guild mates who gave me the needed mats.So yes non combat activities can be your primary activities.

What makes the game actually different other than how they do the fighting?

Its more sandboxy than most of them. Best Items are player crafted (weapons, armor, food....)

A few questions if anyone has the time. (please)

1. I know nothing about the game other than 30 minutes worth of reading. There seems to be different options to purchase. From what ive gathered, There is a deluxe VIP and then another version with more rewards. If im willing to pay more, or whatever it is, can i get the good deal still? Or is deluxe all that is available now? (confused)

2. Can i trust to use my credit card with these guys?

3. Do you enjoy the game or regret your purchase?

4. Any advice or anything else you can tell me possibly? (good OR bad!)

5. I read that players who spend a little money have an advantage. This is okay. But is it Pay-2-Win? :(

6. Im so confused on the purchasing options. Deluxe = 60 days VIP? Elite = No longer available but 90 days? Will the 60 days last untill full release or what? What do you do after the 60 days and the game isnt released yet?

Please fill me in on this game and if you enjoy yourself, regret your purchase etc etc. I love sandbox and i also enjoy PvP.

it's a 7.2gb download, use the 10 hours + daily 1 hour and you will know if you like it.

Was downaloding the game till I saw this thread. F2P games need to start getting it. Were not dumb. If its a pay to win we wont stick around or we wont play at all. The game needs to all be there and the cash shop needs to be vanity items and time saving items only, like exp or crafting boosts. Anything outside that is a fail for the game. To bad because this game did look good but I dont want to invest my time into a pay to win game.

The game is not pay to win.  You have been tricked into stopping your downloading of a game that is very good and not a pay to win game.

how can you say this?

If you've played you would know it's pay to win: buying zen from  PWE ->leaves-> gold-> gems, weapons and armor. How is fw not pay to win?

very good , really?

most of your time you will be doing :

- Do Henry quests 10x a day (mostly errands, running back and fourth)

- Do God's Trial every day (instance event that takes place 2x daily, takes about a half hour)

- Send your pet on a Journey.

tell me which part of FW is so good, cause im missing it.

50+ people in a 30m area with combat and npcs everywhere, abosolutrly zero fps studder.

It's obvious I'm digging the game for a lot of reasons, but the performance of AoW is astounding. I'm playing on an AMD P4 9k series, cpu that's a debatable step up from an intel dual core. Rift, swtor, tsw, gw2, and from what I heae df:uw all have issue to varing degrees.

These guys have some talented programers. They're doing something different.

im downloading the game now. is it that much fun?

same here, at 4.6/7.2gb. Havent played a mmo in a long time

Non combat activities. couldnt care less about story or action combat, the idea of killing mob after mob or 'grinding' quests.

one of the reasons i havent enjoyed gaming in a long time.

I have been reporting everyday for over a week the same bots on vabbi(eu),winterknell(cursed shore) one of the reasons i quit.
a gundam(or just mech) mmo, fighting in your moblile suit for the sake of the space colonies or the united earth sphere alliance.flying through space and upgrading your mech, mining gundanium for producing parts. wish my dream came true...
a world. not just another game

I thought that was a terrible tutorial. It was like an overview of a tutorial; the contents, or even a feature list. It explained nothing and was basically an advert.

Harsh.  Sounds like the hired the movie trailer guy to do the commentary on this video.

It's good as an advert.. just don't think it's good as a tutorial. This isn't the help a lot of people need.

/agreed most of the gameplay is so bad its going to teach people to play badly and the voice is TERRIBLE!

this, it's so emotionless without any intonation. Just horrible to listen to

why no charr love?
really wanted to feel it...but i couldnt. planning on getting the maximum enjoyment out of it by playing slow, alot of crafting and playing on the AH.

I would say unabashed praise like in this thread is what turns me off to this game, and it probably does for many others as well. I understand my 60 bucks won't make or break it, but I don't get why the fanbase insists on being so aggressive about how awesome their game is.

I would propose that instead of trying to give the game a label like revolutionary or evolutionary, you just remain cautiously optimistic, play it for 2 months, and then come back and claim revolution if you still feel that way. We've all been down this road a thousand and one times and I don't understand why people still fall into this trap. I remember during the WAR beta everyone thought the game was going to be the second coming of christ (myself included) and that worked out real well. Not even a month in and people were jumping ship.

I hope GW2 works out for all of the fans, but I just can't in any way see it living up to the hype its getting. But if people are sitll raving like this 1 or even 2 months after launch, I might have to try it.

As captain of the USS Hype, I welcome you aboard. Next stop ... INFINITY!
