I'm sure you could find your answer with a simple search of video game review sites, magazines, etc. Good Luck. |

I voted as well, but don't we have a dozen of these already? |

Lack of world PvP and hefty price tag make me say no :(

Originally posted by Mackeh You lost all credibility by saying sandbox and WoW in the same sentence. I played WoW back then with the original pvp rankings, etc. I played on a pvp server as well. Most pvp consisted of being ganked by someone you had 0% chance of killing. Yes there were times when the guild would band together for some pvp, or to prevent what your guild was up to (griefing people wanting to go to a dungeon). If you think that is pvp, we might have different definitions. |

I found it really hard to put down as well. I can't remember the last time I felt that way about a game. Cheers. |

Originally posted by Fadedbomb I can send you a HD full of my screen shots if you like. What a completely ignorant thing to say. You have no idea what level of fandom anyone in here has. SWG was riddled with bugs. Please tell me how this is wrong? SWTOR is more stable in beta than SWG was years after release. Don't doubt my experience please because I played it long enough to have an Elder Jedi, a second account, and so on. I was skeptical on SWTOR through its' whole development, but once I played it, I was back in the Star Wars universe, and really enjoying it. Do you actually think that your view of the Star Wars universe is the only one? I'm not sure you realized, but the era this game is set in, has very little to do with luke and his ewok buddies. |
|
Originally posted by osiriszoran I understand your concerns, but in comparison, SWG had huge expanses of dead space with nothing to do, but look at the scenery. In addition to this, the game was riddled with bugs, and even years after it's release, it was not as stable as SWTOR is in beta. I agree with you that cantenas were a fun social aspect of the game, but most people were only there for the musician and dancer buffs, and this actually forced the social interaction. Same with doc buffs. I miss a number of things in SWG, but i have found SWTOR to be a far superior game overall. Hopefully, in the future, they will add more and make the planets more expansive, but not at the expense of less content. |

I always thought there would be more cowbell, but maybe I am just tired. On a more serious note. I would like to see worlds become much more expansive, but I realize the logistical issues in that expanse. |

Why did they not just make KOTOR 3?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/28/11 7:42:02 PM
Originally posted by sanosukex I see what you are saying. That type of game system exists already (ala SWG, and others), in the form of factional awareness of NPCs versus flagged/unflagged players, dependent upon the like / dislike value you hold with a given faction. That type of world changing has far less impact on other players and usually works well. I haven't encountered that system in SWTOR, perhaps someone else could comment on it. |

I respect your opinion, but I disagree for the most part. The effecting the whole world concept, while nice in theory, is impractical in an MMO. If you change the world and alter something in a way that someone else cannot enjoy the previous content, it destroys that persons "fun". This is the extreme of course. It works fine in a single player game because it is only your world that is altered. Some say phasing is an answer to this, but then grouping with people at different steps in their personal phase, becomes an issue. I think this game is a good evolution on the KOTOR series, but I also think it is a good evolution as a MMORPG in general. |

I was remembering a feature of SWG that I haven't seen in another game( it may be I just haven't seen it). You guys remember in pvp how you could incap someone, but you could finish them off beyond the incap (DB)? |

I can imagine the questions that will be asked. "Daddy, why do I have to cut his head off and deliver it in a bag?", to "Daddy, when I press flirt I get to have sex with a virtual NPC, can I have some cookies? I will say this about the general comment you made. Any game ever made will become boring or tiring once you pass your personal limit. |

I agree. Ex SWG player here as well. I had low expectations for SWTOR, but was suprised again and again by the games ability to suck me in. This has not happened to me in a long time (and a long list of tried games). |

Originally posted by vesavius You edited out the important parts of my post to suit your agenda. Nice one. I answered your question, but you still fail to see that it is not about whether the "greatest ever" statement was true or false (because it is completely subjective, even though you are ignoring that). I responded to your method of disregarding the OPs' opinion. You can't seem to get beyond "the greatest game ever" statement though, and continue to ignore that the OP was expressing an opinion. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Five Not So Great Things About SWTOR
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 11/28/11 8:52:20 AM
Definately room for improvment in a number of areas of the game. My experince with the space combat portion, leads me to believe that the engine can handle alot more than just on rails. Hopefully it will be fully fleshed out in the future. |
|
Originally posted by vesavius You argued that his opinion was hyperbole. I pointed out you were doing the same. That is the issue, not whether or not, the game is the best ever. If you want my opinion, here it is: Played it, had lots of fun, only game I have ever preordered, need I say more? Sidestep dodge, I mean really man, what do I have to fear? Your joking right? |

He did not say MMO. You can go ahead and make assumptions, I will use what is in front of me. You are right, you can take every feature and compare it to another and say "it's not groundbreaking". This is really my point. These buzz words are used far too much and really amount to personal marketing of what you like. I'm sorry if I insulted your game. That was not my intent. My intent was to point out that X feature is not groundbreaking and that is exactly what I did. |
