Same here, I've done the pre-order thing before and was disappointed. Also, going to wait for a price drop. I think its too pricey right now.

Makes me glad I have never given any personal/financial data to Sony..... you would have thought they'd beefed up their security though after the last run of hacks

Perfect example of why you dont believe everthing you read. :)

Definately not. First and foremost, I am not a social networker. I like keeping my private life private and any game that forces you to use facebook to play or any other type of social networking will be off my radar.

Can I choose none of the above?

I think permadeath is a terrible idea. Nobody should have to lose progress like that.

I'm not a fan of games that are totally focused on the endgame either. There are so many ways to make the journey up to max level exciting, including opening up PvP to lower levels, having lower level dungeons, etc. GW2 aims to do exactly that by having opportunties to do all kinds of neat "end game" things all along the way to max level, and then even more of it at max level.

Making max level a distant goal that you might reach some day, thus making the whole game about the journey, isn't ideal either. I think we all want that feeling of progress that comes from being measurably better than someone/something of lower level, and we also want that sense of victory for achieving max level. Having a big end game is definitely a good thing, but so is having an interesting journey to max.

Well I have no idea what  you are doing wrong but I am on my second lvl 50 character with 4 master trades and I am a very slow leveler. I leveled quickly grinding quests and dungeon running with guild and pugs.

Here are some tips that helped me lvl quickly:

1. When I log out, I log out in areas that I can accumlate rested xp.

2. Do all quests in a specific area then turn them in. This minimizes wasting time on traveling.

3. Do not group with players 5+ lvs higher than you. They soak up alot of xp unless you are completing the dungeon quests and dont care about the xp.

Hope this helps a bit.  :)

Grinding is Booooooooooooring!

And I am old school. Started playing my first mmo with UO. Then played EQ1 and did plenty of grinding there. But back then, the community was much more friendly and fun and made grinding for xp much easier. You hardly even noticed you were grinding because you were having so much fun.

I am the type of gamer that likes purpose. Give me a task and some challenge not mindless time sinking grinding for xp or gear that has a .0000001% chance of dropping. I dont stick around long in grinding games.

The game is a money sinking grind fest. Once you hit level 60, the best xp is Jacobs Shrine grinding. Soooo utterly boring!

In two words...

ABSOLUTELY NOT!  :)

I will absolutley not fork out any bills after playing the open beta. I found the game still needs lots of work and I find it boring. If I wanted to play a space shooter, I'd play Eve.

Yup, hubby and I cancelled too. To sum it up into one word....

BORRRRRRRRRRING!

Cant stand the grind, cant stand not having a meaningful objective.   Give me lots of  quests with a rich story line and worthy rewards and you'll keep me interested.

Not to mention, the Bots and gold spammers ruined it for us too. :)

I never got this whining about forced pvp...

First of all, I got killed rarely on my way to 40 on caion. Second thing, I could mostly escape and then continue to do my leveling/questing. Third, even when I got killed, I lost 1 minute to get back to my original spot and they were always gone by then. Fourth, in the patches that korea has there are already countermeasures to slow down rift-pvpers.

Howmuch of a sissy can you be to let this occasional pvp encounter stop you from playing a game that you actualy like. Afterall the update logs for the koreans show that they are working on raids, dungeons, crafting etc.

Meh I don't get howmuch of a softie you can be to let that effect you somuch...

PS: Carebear

Isnt it obvious? Its you online tough guys that scare us carebears so badly. I didnt realize how tough you had to be to play a game on the internet. Hell im scared to death just typing this.

When I was a child, the bullies hung out on the playground.

I guess now they get their jollies by hanging out in PVP games.

A lot of people who play PVP games today do not understand the true nature of and how wonderful PVP can be.  We lost that in DAOC. It seems ever since PVP has been all about ME ME ME. How great can I be? How well can I do? I am the most awesomest player on this server.

Most PVP'ers today who call others carebear/noob/sissy/etc..... would get owned in DAOC. We ran noobs out of that game because the game was centered around a well-run, well-executed strategy with people fulfilling their roles and acting almost like a military in their organizations and roles.

PVP is now jumping in circles, spamming 1 over-powered attack. How sad it truly is. And honestly, I feel PVP in Aion will be no different.

I dont mind PVP when i choose to play PVP but im not really interested in a game where PVP is the main focus. As for Aion i will see whats what but im not expecting much from the community at all. While i do not think i have the PVP experience you do ive seen this type of people ingame and have to smile and think of the men (my son being one) overseas doing real battle so these wannabe tough guys can play their games.

Amen to that. I also have a son in Iraq and despise PvP. I also agree with the OP in that this game will have a very small PVE community. I think the game is gorgeous, but not even the eye candy can entice me to give it a try.

Error at launch

Shouldn't  you be asking these questions in the beta forums since you are still under the NDA?

heh

No problems here as well.

ROFL!! I love your Avatar. Very nice  :)

I give it a 5. And I know most wont agree with my score, but the reason I gave it that score is because I stopped playing it already.

I was an SE customer and had access to the open beta and headstart when the servers werent so clogged up. I could log in and play with my guild and friends with no waiting. Now, I am put in que and have to wait 20 to 30 minutes to get in, forcing me to go onto another server if I want to play. They created cloned servers in hopes that this would reduce some of the load on the most populated servers, which did not improve my server's population. When you have 30 to 40 people in your guild who had CE accounts and didnt want to move to a cloned server, you are pretty much stuck.

The other reason for the score is that I am bored with it. It sort of reminds me of DAoC, where you level and gear up for PvP. The RvR in this game is boring and unbalanced.THe PvE is fun but how many PQs can you do before you realize how redundant it all is.

Release Date?

Reading is fundamental.

You will find all your answers if you READ the game forums, official websites and even a few posts on this very thread.
