C'mon...

I like these Guys/Gals/Etc, But... Nah...

Hi,

I would take.. oh...

.0005% or so. Then I will "Live In A Van Down The River!" :)

Maxximus

I always find it interesting that MMORPG.COM sometimes chooses to bite the hand that feeds them.

Over the past few weeks, I've been bombarded with banners and "We Want You Back" emails from CCP and I was almost ready to jump back into a tiny little ship and get my ass kicked for awhile.

But then I remembered why I closed my account in the first place...

Ahhhh, the silence has been broken. Whew...

As several have said, they're waiting for this game and so am I. Additionally, there is that "Air of Caution" in the MMO arena. Pay X-Amount, see it crap out and spend more. Yeah, we love our MMOs but it's like the Holy Grail. Such is the Industry.

Are MMOs dead? No. Are *GOOD* MMO's coming out? Sure, although it depends on who you talk to and which game they're talking about. The question is which one to (both) play-test and lay down silvers.

With HJ, I honestly think that laying down the coin of the realm is in my (hopefully near) future.

Great article and my hope is renewed in Simu!

What in God's Name are you:

1: Smoking
2: Drinking
3: Snorting
4: Popping
5: Injecting, or:
6: Eating the dog's and/or cat's wet & dry food?

The World wants to know...

Mr "eBurn":

I'm so very sorry... I apologize for the so very 'colorful' commentary. Mea Maxima Culpa.

However, you still don't know who/when/where/what personnel were Producers of Heroes Journey.

From the very beginning of the original HJ Producers & Planners to the Present Day (3/21/07), Tom Zelinski has never been an HJ Producer. Now, if you wish to quote your source for this "FanBoy" information of yours, or, even merely hint at your source. I would be very very interested.

Yet once again someone stated an ignorant statement. I recently contacted Tom Zelinski about his "producer" of HJ.

Dude, do YOUR HOMEWORK.

OR: Perhaps you can 'quote' me your 'illustrious source' regarding this.

Nah, never mind. This a well-due flame and deservidly so.

Watch My LIPS:  Zelinski was NEVER EVER NEVER was a PRODUCER for Heroes Journey.

Where the  HELL did you get THIS little nugget of Information ??

Ignorance in this Thread astounds me.

I have absolutely no argument with your opinion on this one, Cymdai.

What we've seen in (ahem) Beta are much more "Alpha-Looking" to me. We shouldn't have seen such glaring omissions in bug-fixing prior to Beta testing and, yes, it does worry me.

I am, however, still interested in the final product. My primary concern is that, in this current State of the Industry, if the game isn't an overnight success, it's in the bargain bin within 14 days at the latest.

Listening to the GDC/Gamasutra Podcasts over the last several months, this industry STILL has a lot of "growing up" to do...

Ooops, my bad on the "quote"...

Let me try again:

Jason, I have finally found the error in your project's demographic study:

It addresses CHRONOLOGICAL age and not the inherent level of MATURITY.

(Thank you, Thank you. I'll be here all week...)

Whatever you just said there does not matter at all.
There is no game ever created to date that doesn't contain some degree of decent and mature gamers.
Though if the game contains a majority of theese "1337 kids" it's a nightmare, WoW is one of them.
So if you think that because you found some decent people that it brings the game itself one step higher on the pedestal you are very wrong.

"From the survey data, the average age of the WoW player is 28.3 (SD = 8.4). 84% of players are male. 16% are female. Female players are significantly older (M = 32.5, SD = 10.0) than male players (M = 28.0, SD = 8.4). On average, they spend 22.7 (SD = 14.1) hours per week playing WoW. There are no gender differences in hours played per week"

Only stats i could find, but blows the "mainly kids" idea away.

If there are stats to to the contrary, please list, i would be interested to see them.

Personally my overall impression of the players is that the majority are older and the online community as a whole is pretty good. Btw, the oldest player i have spoken to was in his 70's and he was a great bloke to play alongside.

Actually, in addition, this is quite interesting (i do use the word very loosely);

I've tried EVE Online 3 times (to include two 3-month subscriptions).

To be honest, I think I had more "fun" writing my Master's Thesis than trying to wrap my head around this one.

I agree, the premise is rather freshing, the graphics are beautiful (that is, to a particular point of limitation) and even the tutorial was rather refreshing. With that said, I guess I'm just getting to the point where "character aka ship aka corporate building" has left me a little... tired.

No, I won't beat a dead Beta Horse to death at this point in time. I too was a victim of the "20+ Second Stun" on more than one occasion and as a Good Beta Boy, I reported the Boo-Boo to the Vanguard Gang.

Having known Keith for many years, I honestly hope that Vanguard will succeed just for the sake of his labors alone. Feeding the Microsoft Beast, well, that's another question I will not address here. Ya know, it's always the Developers that get their asses kicked in these forums. Give these guys/gals a tiny little break, especially since they're most probably working 80-hours a week at this point.

[And NO, I do not work for the company...]

Shhhhh...  We're hunting Wabbits...

I agree with the Ranting,,,

Avoid this one. I returned to Amazon.

Simu Sweatshops?  Yeah, right,,,

Oh, for Gawd Sakes....  If you think you want to see "Sweatshops: -- go to Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Afganistan, Any-Stan, Whichever-Stan.  SHEESH!!

Hiya, From what I understand, they're working on a total re-write of the Forums.

My .02 Plantinums, anyway...

Maxximus

Golly Gee. Can *I* ask for a KEY here too???

Alert! Alert!  Whoop! Whoop!

RTFHP:  [In a manner of speaking: READ THE FARKING HOME PAGE!!!]

Anyway, Best of Luck to youse Guyz & Galz at Scion HQ!

Hiya,

Simutronics JUST updated the http://www.heroengine.net/ website for the Austin show.

It now includes a .pdf of a very cool 'booklet/pamphlet" of what they distributed to interested parties. Really nice stuff and VERY infomative, IMHO.

Hiya:

I really don't think that Simutronics WOULD overlook something like Voice Communications in whatever form it may be.

The Simu Team are no dummies, that's for sure... ::::09::

Another thing: Simu will have their 20th [!] Anniversary in August (?) 2007... What a trip, eh?
