I may be dense, but what are "specialisations"? Yknow, it is mentioned seperately from additional weapons...

Is this a good game or a bad game?  Probably by now, you've played it yourself and can answer that question for yourself.  But... I need to get some crap off my chest about this game.  So I'm gonna lay it out here.

You know how when you were a kid and you might get sick, your mom made you stay home from school?  You remember trying to watch day-time TV?  You know... those hours before your favorite after-school shows came on?  You remember flipping through the channels a million times trying to find.... ANYTHING!?  And then after about 20 minutes of that... you finally submit to the irresistible power of... the Game Shows?  You know - Jeopardy, The Price is Right, Family Feud, Shop 'Til You Drop, Hollywood Squares, Pyramid, Supermarket Sweep, Name That Tune, and Press Your Luck?

You know how when you were watching those shows, you'd think, "Well... these aren't BAD shows... but I sure would rather be watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Thundercats, Darkwing Duck, Transformers, Saved By The Bell, Salute Your Shorts, .... fuggin' Doug!"

Well... playing Guild Wars 2.... is a lot like watching Press Your Luck around 10:30 in the morning on a sunny, perfect Tuesday, when you'd rather be watching Doug... which doesn't come on for another 7 hours.  But it sure beats the hell out of going to school and learning... like... Math and shit.... and it's not like there's anything better on TV.  So... oh well... given the circumstances... I guess it's pretty good.

You know?  Like.... it's serviceable if nothing else is going on at the time?  But... you're not going to sit down and watch a 3 Season Marathon of The Price is Right like you actually might do for Thundercats.

ADDITION:  Because I'd hate to waste your time with giving you a completely subjective review like any other review of any other game by anyone else by providing you with my own way of expressing things and hoping you might understand my meaning according to my own expression rather than how you express something, I've added in some typical grading scales you might find in other reviews so that it meets your criteria of what constitutes a review.

I give the game 1 Thumbs Up out of 2.

I give it 3 Stars out of 5.

I give it a 6.5/10.

It meets a 65% approval rating according to my personal grading scale.

Graphics - 8.5

It looks pretty good.

Sound - 6

It sounds typical and serviceable, but there's nothing special about it.

Gameplay - 6

It's not boring for the first 30 minutes to an hour, but then I start to feeling like I'd rather be playing something better.

Value - 6

I feel like it is worth the price I paid for it.  But I don't necessarily feel the need to participate in the Cash Shop.

Tilt - 6

I don't love it.  And I don't hate it.  It's okay when I'm bored.

What I like about the game:

I like the fact that it's better than everything else I've played on the current Market.  But you should take that as more of a statement about the current Market, rather than a comment about the game.  And it fits into that "serviceable" zone quite nicely for me.

What I don't like about the game:

I don't like the fact that when I play GW2, I can't shake the notion that I'd rather be playing something better.

And that's my Revised Review of Guild Wars 2.  I feel like adding the numbers really expressed better what I had to say about the game instead of what I originally wrote.  Thanks for the feedback guys!

Red = what's wrong with today's society. Instead of being outside or being in school actually learning stuff and expanding your brain, most people would rather rot their brains away. I mean those are their brains - they are free to do with them as they like.

I know the example was hypothetical onset of disease, but really? I can't believe a kid would rather sit in front of tv/pc rather than run around/climb trees/socialise in school etc. What have we come down to...

When's the reveal anyhow?
Agree with your Main point. My main point would be:

-> Henchman(so I can play solo however I see it fit/this is one of MAJOR strengths of GW 1/swtor compared to other MMOs)

-> Mobile Turrets. Idk make it so that when you pick up a turret, it instantly refreshed cd. Or even better, give them half/full tracks with a trait. Would it really hurt?
Currently, I have a hunch that they are going down the swtor path. You should be worried for it's seldom that my hunches misfire.

I don't know why, but something in those words strongly reminded me of swtor. Maybe it's the modification of xp? /shrug . I didn't like it in swtor and I sure won't like it here.
I meant Save money on a completely pointless sub.

I am going to try ESO first through some kind of trial or demo and then judge whether to buy it(or not).

Worse come to pass, I'll have another swtor. Very awesome to me <3 . Ie: another very good solo story focused MMO.
/squeee! TGN is here!!! Awesome!

...wait! What is tgn again? I know what is tsn, but what is tgn and why is it so mysterious?

Is it some kind of video producing partnership? Expert video makers? Some ARG(alternate reality game) played over YT? ... /confused

Well...knew it. Glad I saved money in the long run.

Now, that it is B2P(as I ADAMANTLY DEFENDED it'll go to), I have yet another great story-focused game. Both SWTOR AND ESO. Man, this FEELS AWESOME!!!

It's not about methods, but about the Tools to get there. I see. I quite forgot how do that. I know it can be done semi-officialy because I reviewed TSW right here on mmorpg. No, not the official one. But I still did write a huge article about it. Let me check something...

edit: it's as vrika said. That is semi-official. How do I know? I waited for...a month(it took long anyhow) for it to be approved and then some weak to materialise on mmorpg. If you want to get official, try being more active. Have 5 stars for at least half a year. Try writing a blog(impossible for me-I NEED communication/blog is too passive). Try sending them various write-ups you did for whatever. But whatever you do:

As long as your post count is sub 500(this is a VERY lenient est btw), I wouldn't count on anyone trusting you. And why should we? I mean, you might be the next Stephen Hawking or Bill Gates, but chances are that you are not and that you are a mere provocateur. Until we see real you, don't count on anything.

Gamorrean Axes are defacto Canon because they were worn by Gamorrean guards who guarded jabba the hutt.

Sadly, this fail design(instead of a real cortosis cross guard lightsaber-sweet!) alongside goongans/jar-head-blinks and other nonsense will be Canon while some other, awesome stuff will not. Ok, yuuzhan vong and luke vs living black Hole needed to go(pretty obvious innit?), but we did lose a bunch of nice stuff.

...meh. I'll still be using my lvl 10 orange equipment. Hardly anything beats Republic command carbine or lvl 10 saberstaff. Then there's that sweet silver/purple hilted lightsaber from Coruscant equipment comm vendor. As usually:

More freedom and hence fun to you guys!
Hype is pointless and only leads to disappointment. Actually, hype is but a form of possession. And if you turn possessive, that'll be ugly.

Don't make me quote the jedi code...

lags, ravagers, now slot machines...

This game is going straight to hell and BW does NOTHING about it.

Those SWTOR 2 rumours that are floating around just materialised themselves. Don't get surprised if you see SWTOR 2 by 2020 or so. Why? Well, why not? Also, where is all the money SWTOR makes going(all those millions)? There are two obvious answers to this:

-> Towards SWTOR 2

-> Towards Battlefront

(-> Towards CEO luxuries such as yachts, lambos, jumbos and...female company. But it's best not to think about this one...)

So is SWTOR...

Not really it's the same as any other MMO except the solo leveling is actually fun. You group up for flashpoints, heroic quests, raids, BGs, and Arenas like every other MMORPG out there. Except unlike most MMORPG's whose solo leveling experience and storyline suck, it's fun in SWTOR. I've been playing it lately and I actually feel a better sense of community than in other games I've played lately - TERA, ESO, GW2. In fact I actually group up more in SWTOR while leveling than in other games, on top of the fact that it's endgame is the same as other themeparks.

My wife and I teamed for every quest in SWToR. They did a good job with that, unlike games like ESO that make it a real pain to team questing. ESO is more an almost MMO then SWToR.

idk. Tor is much more of a story experience to me than a grouping experience. I play it pretty much just because of a story, not because of anything else.

But then again, I don't see point in ruining your own fun by chaining yourself to some person's timetables etc. Unless it's a close friend, family or trusted, I most likely won't group. So I am not the one to talk about this because I'd much rather hang out irl(face to face, body language etc is very important to me).

Tbh, I completely and utterly love massively singleplayer onlines. I can group if I want to. I can chat. And, most importantly, I get almost singleplayer quality alongside all those nice perks. Me happy <3 :D

Really, wtf is the point of these?

Sorry, I disagree. Morrowind made/makes me feel like I'm playing on an entirely new planet other than earth. The environment, wildlife, and its npc inhabitants are unique, and I have never found a match quite like it. The game captured me in no way another has, including it's successors. imho comparing Darkfall to Morrowind is like scratching a chalkboard with your fingernails.

Yeah, definitely. Morrowind is far superior to any other, modern TES title. Oblivion is just so vanilla and Skyrim is too much GoT for my taste. It most certainly was inspired in several key points by just that tv show. Morrowind is like another planet or, how an reviewer where I live put it, "a mystical place beyond the rainbow". Nothing quite compares to it.

I haven't played DF, but I don't really think it counts. Morrowind was famous because of its open minded approach to everything and because of the successful marriage of aforementioned approach with a PvE mindset. Would PvP work in Morrowind even if you could've played it online? Kinda doubt it. Actually, highly doubt it.

If people would just cut the top bar in half - they wouldn't even care about that epic feeling

Man, what a nice picture! This picture contains the essential truth to most problems of today. The big bar inflated itself beyond all reason-hence we can't match it etc. Marketing plays a HUGE role in this-teeth not white enough? Buy even more expensive toothpaste/go to a very expensive surgery! And why? Because an ad showed a model(!) that underwent said operation just prior to the ad being shot(!!).

This applies to MMOs/games as well. If you keep drinking the corporate kool aid...sweet tears! Rather bittersweet, but what do I know? I know it all too well because I've been a victim of overinflated ad campaign as were many of you. For a sequel, figures! Now, that I've found inner peace, I've found an answer to this one as well:

One of you said that the answer is to eliminate the expactation bar. WRONG!

The answer is to modify the expactation bar to suit objective outcome bar. When this happens, huge amount of dopamine will be released and you happy ;) . This applies to the life as whole, not just entertainment.

Ofc, you could just flatout erase expactations(VERY HARD TO DO-NOT RECOMMENDED!) and be surprised with things. But with such way of thinking even Action 51 games would be..."good". Can't believe I actually put those two in the same sentence-I feel wrong >.> . I.E. because you have no expactations, you will most often end up with mediocrity.

The end :p
It's the other way round. RPGs are hurting MMOs. Really:

Swtor should've been a singleplayer with multiple endings based on which class you chose during leveling etc. Different stories/endings/etc have been done previously in games. The Witcher, jedi academy and Daggerfall are just the ones that spring to mind.

ESO would have been better as a modernised version of arena. Anyone who thinks otherwise... :/

Wow itself would have been better if it was designed like Diablo. Pure Hack n Slash dopamine fest :) .

But! Singleplayers are TOO SHORT! Easy:

Keep the awesome stories of BG, NWN, Morrowind etc. Add multiplayer mode. GG easy!

But! MMOs are too piontles! Easy:

Focus each mode of playing and keep it focused on PEOPLE INTERACTION. Through crafting, through PvE, through PvP. GG easy!

Really why do people think this is Rocket science? It's so blatantly obvious... :/
I would be delighted ofc!

I would have both a fantasy and a SF story based MMO. I'd also have one in each action/tab target territory. Nah really:

It would be a win/win to me. So I naturally hope it'll go f2p(I'd rather if it went b2p but meh).
