You can level just fine as prefered. It's the expected levelling rate. Subs are the one that have bonuses, otoh. You'd need some unlocks, but I think that you can get the whole game for 30$ or less(if you are completely aware what exactly it is you are looking for). Oh and xp buffs. But those are rather cheap especially when you have a character in the endgame.

And as is already said, you prolly just arrived to dk and you're faces with a heroic area. These enemies are intended for a group, see. Only god knows who was a stupid, incompetent misanthrope who decided to put a heroic area(!) between a spaceport and a city on a, basically, starter planet. Whoever he is, is exactly like House.

Whatever.

Welcome to swtor! I hope you enjoy yourself!
I'm about all about possibilities and discovering new stuff(NOT SAME!). I also like helping other people find their fun(you'd be amazed how often people play stuff that they THINK is fun to them and actually isn't). If I can have those two things, I am set. If not-goodbye!

Task oriented? Pfft! So boring! I am anything but task oriented...
Look, WAR is alive. Just look around and BE PATIENT.

If you ask me, I'd severely change it because I feel that it was a bunch of systems in a single game(no cohesion). Why did PvE players care about RvR? How about true PvPers(scenario players)? How about either RvRers/PvPers about PvE? How about anyone about crafting? Or, Asuryan forbid!, exploration!

See, it was very Ill concieved. I don't tend to think before I act(well mostly), but that is not the way how multimillion deals should be handled. I'll mention it again(what the hell!): google EALouse. And see why did WAR end where it did.
I certainly hope all of you are correct. See, the "point to move" affair has really outlasted its welcome(and then some-like a typical Jehova's witness). I want my strategies to evolve somehow. The problem is, it's the genre most resistant to changes. Anything short of direct neural interface won't make any lasting changes on this genre.

And as for my viewpoint:

It's utilitarianism at its best! A la carte "do I need it?" approach. It can really save some decent money. Realistic, not pessimistic. If anything, I try to be optimistic(glass half full etc). But I still end up as a realist(glass with water etc).
As for the movies: really? I'll give one rather banal example. Hercules. Truthfully, did you expect TitanQuest:Herc edition when going in? I certainly did not and thought it as a very imaginative use of classic mythology. It was anything but a copy. If it was the Main antagonist would be either Zeus/Hera or Nemean Lion(lol!). See how crappy the copy sounds? That was that former "Legend of Herc"-really crappy and pointless movie.

As for games:

This argument is starting to get on my nerves. If you want to play old games-GO PLAY OLD GAMES! I am currently playing NWN and love every minute of it! You certainly won't catch me crying how RPGs aren't what "they used to be"(whatever that may be). And after trying Diablo 2 after playing Diablo 3, I really have to say that in some cases nostalgia for better/happier times(when you coincidentally used to play said game) REALLY distorts the vision of a game. Does D3 need some changes? Yes. Is it better than D2? Yes. Is D2 present if you want to play it? Yes. All these arguments apply to most MMOs. Ok not for SWG or WAR or Vanguard, but at least two of those three will be fixed in a due time. You can pay almost ANY game ANY way you want(free, p2p, legit, private, as any role on one char, etc) and the complaining is still around?

Learn to let the past go. That's one of Keys to happiness(true happiness).
I, as a isometric/third person game fan, have nothing to look forward in this. Really, how could that like ever influence strategies and/or DnD like RPGs?

Thus I don't care. I fully understand that the people who love games such as Skyrim/mass effect/CoD and the like are going to fkkin LOVE OR, but us Strategy fans? In the words of eternal bunny:

Nyah!
I gave up on DnD. The only versions I intend to play are 3,5(meaning games like NWN and various 3,5 TT games). Past that is crazy. Hell, I don't even acknowledge 4,0 existing! They quite pointlessly mmofied DnD.

Oh and cut Lathander out-in favour of Ra-like deity! GG morons!

Is not like anybody's forcing me to play 4,0 or later...

Come to think of it: would you call Dragon age an adaptation of 4,0 to computer?
It just occured to me:

Have you tried Wesnoth? Is a fun game with 16 campaigns and possibly endless amounts of maps.

Hey! The panzer general was mentioned, so why not Wesnoth(I remember playing Allied general as a kid. But That's a story for some other time ;) ).
Ok!

1. Heroes series(whatever is the newest release)-V would be the favourite if the end turns didn't last so LONG!

2. GalCiv series(really good game-like a Civ in space)

3. Disciples series(jeez what a potential this series has! Unbelievable! I SO want to love Disc3, but it is so bug ridden!)

Nothing else really...

Hasbro put out dnd 4.0?

You need to pay more attention. Not only is fail.0 out, but w're on the verge of 5,0!

That's right! 5,0 is imminent!

What do I care? No Lathander, Helm and Talos(the classic triad)-no me!

Lost interest in AD&D after the second edition tbh, still have all the original books but, it just seemed to go all weird. The more recent ones even more so, probably why i thought Cryptics Neverwinter was so bizarre when it came to the classes, its like they forgot what a cleric even was. I don't think Wizards of the Coast are a safe pair of hands for the game, and have not been from the time they took it over. But i think thats one of the things that happens when the focus is the money and not the game.

i honestly felt the same way until i played 3.5 edition. it's really a terrific ruleset and really holds true to the original more than any other edition. sadly, Hasbro trashed it and replaced it with the 4.0 ruleset. which, tbh as any other game it's really not a bad ruleset. it just never felt like DnD.

funny enough when 4.0 came out my friends and i agreed it would probably have worked better as a ruleset basis for an mmo...

That's exactly what I thought! I remember thinking, wtf why are these tank/healer/dps roles here in DnD? I mean, I enjoyed the freedom of 3,5 DnD immensely. What they did with 4,0 was a crazy stunt from which they are still recovering. Serves them right! Top 3 4,0 blunders:

3. Elimination of half(ok 40%) of alignments: This was just a stupid move that reeked of "PLAY IT OUR WAY OR GTFO!". Guess which option players chose...

2. Inclusion of MMO roles and streamlinisation of classes: kinda obvious.

1. TOP: They morphed Lathander into something which I can't even pronounce(Amaunator or sth like that). This is beyond horrible! Lathander was a true beacon of hope, a figure beyond you could safely retreat. Amumu(sue me!) is just a typical Holy "Smite me and be smitten!" type of god. Like a countless Legion of other LG gods. Oh and Lathander was NG, not "boring as all hell" good. This was just a wave that pushed me overboard! I still can't forgive them this...

///

Anyhow, let's go back to the topic shall we? I just need a couple more answers and I'm set...

Yes, I meant lore actually. That's what is known as fluff in Warhammer. It's nice to know it, but largely unimportant.

I'll try to edit the op(idk about the poll tho).
Rift or SWTOR?
LFGame « General Discussion

Swtor and it's not even funny with how large margin it wins:

It has a secured future, a humongous IP, at least equal amount of activities as Rift, better GFX, better art, an actual story(and not one but 8 of em! 10 if we count Republic vs Empire), the strength to not only survive, but make itself better after the debacle(you have surely met mr.Tortanic) etc.

That's not to say that Rift is not a good game. It is, just not with very much brains. Brains are important to me so...nothing. Even I can play Rift due to how inviting it is and due to the fact that I can fully adapt me Elves to fit Rift.

Rift's one of few Medieval fantasy games(if you can call it that!) that I can stomach. Others are mostly IPd, so this very fact should speak leaps and bounds about Rift.

Well 3.5 dnd base classes. You would be an elf sorcerer. Support spells with the long bow. Maybe wizard for spell variety but that limits your spell casts and if your crafty enough the sorcerer would win. though a specialist wizard would be able to kinda make up for it. Not knowing what level you want i cant say anything for feats.

How about Bard?

That was my first thought.

Those two votes are just my dilemma:

Abjuration/Enchantment Sorceror vs Bard.

I love both of these schools, but the bard is just wonderfully rounded up! Don't care for Rogue side of bard tho(I guess that disarm trap is useful /shrug).

For the past few years, MMORPG's have sucked. Almost every hyped one was just hyped for the money and just enough to get by to have people play it for a little bit. For example, elder scrolls online and wildstar. They both blew.

In early 2000's and for a while we had wow and runescape. I dont care what you say, pre EoC runescape was hands down the best mmorpg. You can have tons of fun, but now eoc sucks it dry imo. Wow is good but only until you do everything, it is a themepark after all.

The most fun I had was guild wars 1. Guild wars 2 is an entirely different game and I found it stupid you can call that a sequel. In gw1 you had towns where you can see everyone, but once you get your party and leave the town, it turns into a single player rpg which gives the mmo a different style. The missions were amazing, loot was amazing, and endgame dungeons was great. Fissure of woe was a challenge with rewarding loot and is way better then doing a raid for the next tier of item level armor and weapons. Its a shame that I didnt enjoy guild wars for as long as it lasted cause after guild wars 2 came out I realized how much I am gonna miss it.

I can also name a few other mmorpg that had updates ruin it.

I mean after 10 great years of mmorpg were rewarded with crappy games like wildstar and oblivion online? Theres so many different types of ways to make an mmorpg but all of them just copy the same bullcrap. And they can make these games for money, fersure but even without hype a good mmo will rake it more money then a hyped crap mmo. I miss playing an mmo in which I actually enjoy and dont know whats gonna come next. All mmorpg are now predictable and cliche.

Just to prove there are still good mmos to be made. Anyone remember .hack? You can put together random keywords and it will randomly generate a dungeon and area. The weather, enemies, loot would be determined by the keywords you used. At the end of every dungeon you would be rewarded with a chest and good loot. How about that for an mmo? How about an mmo with freeroam kill options, if you have it enabled you can get killed anywhere from players and you drop everything you have in your inventory except three chosen items and whatever you have equipped. Dev's need to realize it doesnt matter how much dungeons and content you make, if you implement features that are fun and random (aka sandbox) a small feature that takes days to add can be the turning point of a great game.

There really has been a lack of good mmo's and everyone knows it. Bored and tired of playing crap. I can only play games for so long before I have to grow up and take care of life, but for now im dieing for a good mmo to indulge in.

How sure are you of your words? Also, don't put them in our mouths. Remember what happened to Bioware when they started teaching us how to play in swtor-3 months f2p! And now compare that to today's view on swtor when devs started listening. Be VERY careful!

I agree about GW 2-if GW 2 is in the same genre as GW 1 is, then what's all the fuss about sacred 3? But you can't judge a genre on one game that is subjectivelly bad(ok kinda objectivelly since the trait changes) and a game that looks like a Saturday morning cartoon. Beside those we had swtor(which is an ugly duckling-in the fullest meaning of that fable!), Rift(which is kinda weak on the lore side, but playable to all hell), and assorted acquired flavours-LoTRO(for all the LoTR fans), AoC(Hyboria awaiting in a truly savage MMO), TERA/Aion(for the Korean grindfest lovers), WAR(which is rightfully dead for it sullied the name Warhammer fantasy-still it was there when we needed it the most), ESO(for TES fans).

Look-That's why that saying exists: "One really shouldn't discuss tastes..."(or sth to that effect).

mmos are just fine. You, however, need to find the right one for yourself! Good luck in that! And don't be prejuidiced, because the most unlikely of them can become your new favourite(this exact thing happened to me with swtor)...

How about Bard?

Which one would you choose:

Lore(IP, looks, various fluff etc)

or

Gameplay(fun, responsiveness etc)?

This is not only about games, but the parts thereof:

"Would you rather play a flawed IPd game belonging to an IP you love or a game without an IP/with a weak lore etc but great gameplay?"

"Would you rather play a class that is UP/complicated, but just your flavour or a FoTM that can very well be diagonal to your prefered play style?"

This one should be interesting...

EDIT: can't change the poll. In that and only that context, fluff = lore.

I really don't know where to post this. Why? Because it has to do with DnD. This is what interests me:

There are enough(and more than!) psychological approach DnD quizzes on the net. Stuff like "Do you like animals?" Yes -> +1 to Druid/Ranger class. This NOT what I have in mind. I want to find my true class based on mechanics thereof instead of fluff(fluff can be modified-see Assassin/Avenger pairing-mechanics, no way). I am talking about 3,5 DnD and none of these modern cr@p. I am also talking about the Base classes, not PRCs and the like. Keep that in mind. I'll just do it similarly how I handled such things to a great success on swtor's forums.

Measure of importance:

Damage: 2/10(if that much)

Support: 8/10

Defence: 7/10(pref active defence to a "suit of Armour" Defence)

Armour: Medium tops

Alignment: Neutral Good

Magic: yes -> Arcane

Shapeshifting in any form: no

School of Magic: Enchantment, Abjuration, Transmutation(in that order-I wish that Divination was more useful)

Weapons: if I must -> ranged

Scope of activity: Area

# feats: Don't care, pick wisely

# skills: the more the merrier! Social skills are a must!

Group vs self: Group

Gods: good for a story, bad for a character

Which Base Class would you recommend to me(I have 2 on my mind)?

Sacred series was very fun and original in some mechanical ways. The idea of morphing(basically) skills in 2 was ahead of its time. It had a Fatal design mistake:

It was too easy to power through the content. In just 30 mins of playing you can get a lvl...60? Unicorn as a Wood Elf. Then you get recuperate and the game becomes...you get it.

Meanwhile in games like Diablo you have to earn your power. No lvl 56 golem vs lvl 30 Flayer.

That flaw just killed it for me. A game shouldn't be soulcrushingly hard, but it shouldn't be cakewalk easy as well.

If I could, I would make mobs not respawn as well. It kinda kills the immersion for me in sacred 2. Sacred 2 is way better btw.

Oh about 3? What sacred 3?

I do not enjoy repetition (which makes me unlikely to roll an alt in most games) so I will then choose my favourite class, which is normally a ranged archer/ sniper class, preferably without a pet and without magic.

I will then use one of a handful of name I use in every game I play.

RP does not come into it, it is all about aesthetics and gameplay.

It does more than you think friend. More than you think. Then why would you spend all that time perfecting your look(a thing that is oh so familiar to me-I spent around an hour creating each of my swtor chars{and missing an AC on my Main lol :p !}, about so in Rift as well and over two and a half in Vanguard)?

Is just that it isn't extroverted RP, but Introverted! No worries, I hate standing around and pretending I am doing sth just because I typed it as well.

Cheers!
