Lol LoTRO keeps getting better and better! I only need a Soldier on a single character(hunter and loremaster obviously don't need them). I wouldn't even need him on that character if that Elf could be a captain(wtf turbine, never heard of captains of Gondolin? Or Haldir? Or... /meh whatever). If only >.<

I don't even want to make my own team of AI helpers to solo flashpoints(eh...whatever :D). They are meant to be played in a group and why? Because it is a GROUP activity! Solo activities, however:

If you need to have them(and you do), why not make them interesting instead of dreadful dps fests that get boring while levelling your first character, let alone others? In the words of Vengaul(speaking of him, I SO want to see him in NWN 3{I SO want to see this overall heh} instead of that abomination Neverwinter):

"Mighty fine lad Callik, but no sense of style. No sense of style at all!" <-replace Callik with mmo of your choice ;)

Copy cats. Copy cats everywhere!

Eh Pogg, what was that bit about the soldiers? Something from Helm's Deep expansion? Don't recall you being able to recruit anybody(apart from Loremaster and his animals/Spirits and Capn and his merry men). Care to elaborate?

Why don't more companies get inspired by the likes of SWTOR or GW 1 and actually make soloing fun by adding AI helpers?

I swear this is the biggest advantage that both GW 1 and SWTOR have over other games because I can play what I want, how I want, when I want. Case in example: tanks and healers. Most MMO solo experience is about DPSSSSS!!!!! BOOOOOOM!!! and you can't really do that with a healer or a tank. With GW 1 or SWTOR system, you can just take a henchman with you and leave the dps to him while you do what you actually find fun.

And yes, solo is a necessity in this day and age. It just is so. So, why not make it actually customisable and fun?

Don't play open world PvP games? That concept is broken, let it go.

Stealthers, otoh, are a lot of fun both in PvE and in PvP. They always feel unusually...satisfying. I am not even a backstabbing git irl, but more of in your face guy and I still highly respect them.

-> something's off with Revan, yes. What it is, we'll find out. Tbh, I hope he dies for good this time.

-> what's up with the Axes? They're too High tech to be of Gamorrean origin, but they do look kinda similar. What do they represent?

-> I am quite surprised so few people noticed this one tbh. Did you notice that "revan" guy has TWO Lightsabers, but he draws and activates just ONE? Could it be a sign that Sentinels will, finally, be able to choose between dual wield and single sabre style? Could it also mean that the rest of force classes will be able to choose what sabre style they employ(single/dual/staff)? What happened to "classes must be recognisable ASAP" approach then?

-> I get the feeling that this teaser(tbh the whole stream) was aimed at people who quit around rothc(or a bit later). Was this a mistake? Should they aimed at their current players instead?

I have no idea what you are even basing that last part on. Revan returning as an integeral part of the story should apeal to all KOTOR fans, not just ones who have previously left.

You're welcome... ;)

Plus, that only proves me right. See, they weren't marketing to us(we knew all this already for at least a month), but for some other SW fans. As I said.

With the 3,0 teaser gone(it was really not ok from them to do...that. That was literally nothing), I will ask a question that burned inside me for quite some time:

What's up with Flashpoints and story? Why can't they give us story out in the open? I mean going into a flashpoint for a story is like going to McD for a chicken(and KFC is right by!). One does not simply do that. Seems quite nonsensical tbh. But what will you. Thousand people, thousand tastes right ;) ?

I know that they are aiming for a RoTHC sized expansion, but if they truly release two planets(Dxun is most likely in and...???) as yet another daily zones with 3 flashpoints and an OP...they'll quickly be reminded why they had to switch over to f2p. People(and I) are fed up with Bioware trolling them while the subs pay and BW laughs all the way to the bank.

I am not disappointed by this because I didn't expect even as much. I am interested in the next Cantina tho. Seeing how they'll be unrestrained, a LOT of info about 3,0 will come from there.

EDIT: It seems I misread it. 8 in the morning...isn't that a wee strange time to have a stream(look-it fits me better than 8pm so I won't complain)?

Can't wait!

We've got enough floods to worry about here in Europe for a decade. That Flood that struck us in Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia looks like it could happen again. Why would I worry about some virus that is over 10000 kloms away when we are being attacked by the Plane of Water itself?

The fk is happening O.o

edit: WE NEED 3,0 info to take our minds of this cr@p EA! It's now or never!

I believe mr.Rappoport on this.

It's just one big hoax. Look, the Tin can virus(remember that from 80s?) is suddenly killing millions? Wtf are they all eating canned beef? That's how ridiculous the statements are.

Their health is almost razed to the ground by constant and unremmiting war, poverty and dirtyness. Sewage is in their water for fks sake! They don't eat for days and sleep on the floor/dirt. And their leaders are selling them out for a slice in resource profits. And now the ordinary tin can virus is killing them. Seeing how razed their immunity is, it wouldn't surprise me a wee bit. But far more are dying of malnutrition, hunger and dirty living than is of ebola. And, I think I'm right on this one, most of "infected" come to the centres looking for any kind of help, not only against ebola. If they die(from whatever including old age) sev days later, it's automatically listed as an ebola infection(like wtf O.o).

Yet another Terror propaganda, yadda yadda. Nice try CIA, it doesn't work on me, see.

1. GW 1(especially Nightfall era)
2. Swtor
3. LoTRO

Honourable mentions(in no special order):

-> Rift
-> AoC
-> WAR

As is obvious, I love IPd story focused games. Rift is a bit of a statistical outlier, but it sure does allow to tell MY stories on MY terms. Therefore, it also comes down to stories.

P.S. Nightfall is simply epic! <3
I have started playing only this year, but have been stalking swtor since beta. With that said, the additions:

-> plenty of flashpoints
-> a couple of operations(not really into this so I don't really pay attention to it)
-> Galactic Starfighter
-> Galactic Strongholds
-> Conquest system
-> Hutt Cartel stuff(Makeb etc)

-> Balance
-> Performance(lags + overall)
-> overall

Depends on your needs and wants. Just by spending 5$ you get pref status which is noticably better. You need to tell us what you want to do and we'll go from there.

Overall, this game is like a phoenix or, if you want a bit more oriental word, like a simurg. See, it literally rose from ashes and revived itself. It's quite beautiful now. Leaps and bounds better than @ launch. Hell, it even converted me and I was the hater of swtor. That's gotta say something in itself...
LoTR:O vs Rift
LFGame « General Discussion
9/13/14 2:09:05 PM

Here is my final verdict:

My Elves(Gor/Sin/Cui+we and Maedhrys) stay where they should(LoTR + Warhammer Fantasy). This opens up the venue for LoTR:O and I can safely play it any time I want. I would want those because they are ataressë, but I can think up of others(tbh, most of them do have kilmessë). Epessë and amilessë are their own category. Especially amilessë-never thought about that one. Epessë should be rather straightforward and some of them in fact do have it(or rather what I thought as a surname sounds awful like either epesseë or kilmessë).

When it comes to Rift, I am abandoning Guardians for Defiants. I feel like I can be fully creative that way without forcing something onto something. Plus, it opens up the classes(souls, whatever) that just don't make sense for a Guardian such as Saboteur, Nightblade, Assassin and the like. Of course, I lose the access to Paladin, Justicar, Inquisitor and the like, but I won't cry for those. Zealous fools hmphh! This opens up the venue for Rift as well. In short:

And with that said, this thread executed its function. I thank you all for your advices and for your time. Much obliged!

We are not talking about net speed, but about net speed as a result of a net traffic right? And the formation of a price. Got it!

I am not so good at this point because most of my computer knowledge is focused around Hardware and a bit less about software. Traffic? I did learn ICT(this topic falls into this right?), but it is not my vocation and is more of a lore check than anything. Therefore:

I'll let quiz continue. Seeing him I assumed this was a standard Hardware discussion of yore, but it seems it isn't. I heard that appearances are deceptive. :)

Why not use flat internet? Some hipster reason why not? I once downloaded a 500GB during a month and the price didn't go up even for a cent. Couple that with 20mbps and...yeah.

Plus, most of online servers can't handle 50mbps as is and you are already slowed down to their cap(usually at around 20, 25 max). Sure, I do expect netflix and such to have the state of the art servers which allow up to 120mps, but this is simply not realistic for 90% of net. I am kinda surprised that quiz hasn't mention this yet.

Tbh, I fail to see what the fuss is about. You pay less, you get less. One simply can not expect that Dacia will perform equally to BMW. Of course, the added cost is sometimes(around 20-25% of time, depends on the branch) pointless and comes off as what I call "the fool's tax". The perfect example being cable tv. Do you really need all those packets? Sure it is still cheap, but if you compare it to Base price, it can and will quickly come to up to 200% of that price. Plenty of this around...
Nice satire! Was really funny!

Too bad that it is, but oh so true. But then again, I haven't seen a single piece of satire that wasn't based in some way, shape or form in reality. And this is our, sad, reality.

WTF happened to FUN??? O.o
Rift is...ok. It can be fun, but it is THE wow clone. Did you notice how Elves swim? Seen it somewhere else? The dolphin style? If it copied that!

Here is what is TRULY(you can feel it) different:

-> 4 roles instead of 3: There is no Holy trinity. Sure, that's the safest way of doing things in Rift, but what with all these 4th role classes, I could get all kinds of creative while playing. The roles are: Tank, Healer, DPS, support. Support can be everything and anything. It can be kinda traditional like bard(group support through buffs) to Warlock(some would call him a DPS class, I prefer to put him here. His DoTs and debuffs help to weaken enemy enough and to speed ghings up. This area is murky at best) to exotic things like Dominator(CC specialist, I prefer to link it to GW Mesmer-they are a plenty similar). How the presence of 4th role changes group dynamics isn't needed to explain I think.

-> Housing: The housing in Rift is pretty nice, pretty customisable and fulfills most of your housing needs. If you are into this, that is. Nice work!

-> Rifts/invasions/etc: They are a novel idea, nothing more, but nothing less as well. The scaling should be capped, however, because when blue geared TANK gets one get it. It also gets old real quick. More variety here as well as a cap on scaling would do wonders.

-> Instant Adventures: sure, the idea of not having to talk to a quest giver and reporting back sounds insignificant, but believe me-IT IS NOT! You feel more free by doing IAs. Why? Who knows. Anyhow, you just go from one objective to another in a player capped instance(I don't think that there can be more than 20 players/instance). So, no one shots, no boring "there and back again" trips, no stupid one line quests. Trust me, IAs do make a difference!

-> The ability to "build" your own class: There are four Base classes, each with 8(perhaps more now) robust talent trees. Talent trees don't just bring passives and a skill here and there, but they bring a lot of skills both in the passive part(called "branches") and in the active part(called "roots"). By putting points into a talent tree, you further specialise in it and gain additional skills as you level that tree. Quite ingenious and nice if I do say so myself. Also, every class has an access to every role(quite literally with 3,0): tanking mage? You got it! Healing Rogue? There it is! DPS Clerics? No problem! The possibilities are quite large and are one of better parts of this game(if not the best)

Everything else is just wow copypasta. Perhaps with changed names or whatever, but don't expect deep experience from Rift. Rather expect fun one and you'll get what you want! ;)
If I were you:

I'd wait a fortnight to see what Tor 3,0 is about. Then I'd continue from there.

I'd also choose both. Swtor for SF and LoTRO for fantasy.

I'd also look at the private scene. There could be old fashioned wow things you could like there. Sorry-can't say no more. I've said too much already :)

I really have nothing more to say because both azaron and pogg detailed swtor and lotro(respectively) pretty nicely.

Enjoy and have fun!

About the Forged Alliances and what it means for swtor.

Why is it that all the new story bits are FP-based? Does this mark a new direction within swtor? What is interesting about these new "stories"? Why are people satisfied by these bit-sized "stories"?

These are some of questions that genuinely interest me.

Can't wait for this month's cantina then. Is bound to be either depressing or awesome(realistically speaking, Bioware Austin deserves the latter).

Wonder what will they do with classes, because I haven't ever heard of a patch x.0 which didn't come with a sizable balance section. Be what it may, it's bound to be interesting at the very least.

Onwards to 3,0!
