I will never stop wishing the original design, true to it's place in the Star Wars timeline between Episodes IV & V (without player Jedi), could be debugged and balanced without any major re-design.  There was so much, so right, about SWG.  It was a masterpiece "in the rough", the likes of which has not been surpassed.

Half the game is free.  They should call it "Free-to-Half-Play".  If you want the other half, be prepared to pay more than $15/month.  If you don't give Perfect World plenty of cash:

  1. You will have half the inventory space you need, particularly the runestone and enchantment fusing system (at least 7 rank sets of 4+ types each of 2 kinds of stones) stacked to 4 to fuse to the next rank, which is a huge inventory sink.  Just getting up to rank 4 green runestones and enchantments uses 20 - 30 inventory slots which is most of what you get for free.  You can't use or even sell what you can't keep.
  2. Return to Enclave scrolls would mitigate some inventory issues, but they aren't available for in game gold either.  See how fun it is to try to fight your way back out of the deep end of a zone you're not done with yet because your bags are full.
  3. You will have very tiny bank space.
  4. Your companions will only go to half level (Rank 15 of 30).
  5. Your crafters will be limited to common.  I've not gotten high enough yet to see if full profession leveling is even possible for free.
  6. Your mount will only go the slowest speed.
  7. You will only be able to identify some of the green items you pick up since you'll find too few identify Scrolls in game and have to use Astral Diamonds for more Identify Scrolls.  Identify Scrolls should be available for in-game gold.

I made 2 big mistakes:

  1. I bought the Founder's pack.  The mount is good.  The pet is lame.  The bag was a joke (tiny; < half the size of the $10 bag in the Zen Store).
  2. I got 4000 Zen and blew a bunch of it on 30 keys for Nightmare Lockboxes which are grab-bags that usually give enchantments or runestones that I then blew my Founder Astral Diamonds pulling out of my equipment as I leveled.  Don't waste your money on Lockboxes unless you're a gambler ( = like to throw away money).  I just discard them now.

I went out on a limb and lost on this game.  Pay big or be limited; 50% limited.  It can be played free.  I doubt few will do it for long.  I'm fine paying $15/month for a good game.  Neverwinter has a lot going for it.  But the Zen Store and Astral Diamond prices are just too high to get to full strength for even $15/month.

Neverwinter is a premium game at a premium price.  It's the most expensive game I've played, and I've played plenty and almost always paid about $15/month.

A full week after release and I still can't install the game due the error:  "Blizzard Launcher: Failed to resolve install data URL from Please check your internet connection."  The Blizzard Support ticket I've had open since 2 days before launch has done nothing but reveal that 7 different Blizzard Support staff are likely to give almost as many useless answers to a problem.  I was particularly amused by the old 'stop running malware protection' answer in light of all the hacking that happens to Blizzard customers.  My opinion of Blizzard had fallen a lot in the past week.

Still can't install due to inability to connect to the patch server.  I've tried every proposed solution on the forums (I'm not the only one this bug has bitten) and have had a ticket still open with Blizzard since a couple days before launch, but still not installed.

I've played LOTS of MMOs, bought many boxes and played the game at release.  Never seen it botched this bad.  How cocky are they with this beloved IP?  Signs of things to come. Even though a dwindling few MMOs think they can get $15/month from players, SWTOR wants it even BEFORE my first 30 STARTS!  THEN they don't provide server capacity to let me do THAT so I can't play AT ALL.  I waited for 20 minutes to get to login ontheir website then got put BACK in the queue when I pressed LOGIN!

I won't even START on the queueing to play the game.

Massively popular means massively profitable.  Why isn't there server capacity when we've ALREADY PAID for it!?  I have a BAD feeling about this.

The tune "Take the money and run" is playing in my head.

> 1 hour queue for a game I pre-ordered many months ago to play early.  Guild assignments apparently didn't account for proportion of unregistered guildees who would also want to play on the server their guild was assigned.  It seems they can't scale up individual servers.  Don't backtalk me about the alternative of not being let into Early Access because 1) I paid for it and 2) there's no reason to believe it will be better by launch.

We've gone a full business week now and there is still no ETA or explanation of a plan to restore services.  I understand that mistakes happen, but now it's gone on long enough to have a stated plan.  Daily "still offline" today messages are now becoming salt on players wounds.

I hope they get their plan together soon and communicate it to their customers.  A week is long enough to have a plan and be honest about it.

Last i heard they planned to have things back up before the end of may.

After yet another SOE Facebook post saying "SOE services will remain offline today...", I've seen another person comment that refers to some statement by SOE that servers will be up by May 31.  Can anyone cite the source (post an URL) for where SOE stated that plan?

Although I'm a bit surprised that being down for a month is the best they can do, it'd be nice to see them actually communicating a plan.  So far, their customer relations has been just slightly better than nothing.

It's not Free2Play, it's Pay2NotPlay.

Someone badly underestimated server load for opening weekend.   How many of the free players will stay or even come back after this fiasco?  ...while paying players can't play at all.  Even when I could get in, lag made playing an invitation to lag death.

F2P Launch Quest Failed.  You never get a second chance to make a first impression.  ...but you have lots of chances to lose paying customers.

Be aware before you buy that Global Agenda is a grouping-required PvP-oriented game.  I'm not saying that's bad, just be aware what you are buying.  There's one solo map to get to level 10 and after that it stops being solo-able at all.

I missed it.  I didn't read the review because I was too busy playing Fallen Earth despite the widespread bugs, unstable client, unstable servers, and overall bad performance.  After the 1.1.0 patch, I finally quit for good.  The MOB buff made gray missions impossible to solo and I started spending most of my time running back from the cloner.  And forget crafting.  It's fun as a secondary thing for your combat character, but after 1.1.0, crafting centered character development makes an unplayable character falls to MOBs half his level.

Without fast travel, and after 1.1.0, Fallen Earth is not for the casual gamer with less than hours at a time on their hands nor for those who like to solo.  The way that major combat change was made with no warning and so significantly changing my experience was reminiscent of SWG development.  Fallen Earth developers want the game to be hard and to appeal to a small few.  Good luck with that.  It's a game and has to be fun for me to want to play it.

If the review was retracted due to the sentiments and biased opinions of the remaining rabid fanbois, I hope the next one will stand on the facts.  The remaining player base is dedicated to the genre, like I was, and as the game goes down the tubes, they will become more furvent in their opinions, hoping good press will save the game they wish it was.

I'm hoping Bethesda or some experienced company can pull off a post-apocalyptic MMO that has the feel and the fun gameplay to really succeed.  Fallen Earth isn't it and the stated plans and demonstrated strategy for gameplay changes has it firmly set on a path similar to SWG.  Sad.  Very sad.

I probably will pony up the $45 to reactivate 3 accounts and rescue my beloved characters from oblivion, even if I never play them again.  Nice last-ditch profit-taking on SOE's part.  It's worth it to me just to keep the memory alive of a game set soon after the time of the first Star Wars movie (Episode 4) where Jedi Knights were a legend, not a character class.  No MMO with Jedi as a player class can succeed, long-term.  I know it's all just about money and giving people what they want, even if they don't last.  I'm confident that the number of subscriptions in SWTOR will be less the third year than either first 2 after release.  You can't balance Jedi, and people won't stick with an imbalanced MMO.

I remember how badly bugged and imbalanced pre-CU/pre-Jedi SWG was too though.  It's tragic that SOE could not find a way to fix what was broken instead of making it into something most did not want to play, no matter how many good times we had together.  It was one example after another of design decisions that were totally out of balance. the attempt to resurrect Creature Handler.  Lack of judgement has been the development order of the day all along for SWG.  I hope future MMO developers really learn the lessons of SWG.  There were MANY.  ...and all based on what I think is the best IP ever and the most immersive game world (in terms of graphics, sound, and people)  I've ever played in.  Neither of the 2 Star Wars MMOs in development can match the potential of an Episode 4 - 5 world for an MMO.  They had that part right from the start but SOE didn't stay on target.
