Warriors are Epic & Fun... I love them.

On the official forums people wonder how is it that some warriors hardly do need to rest after combat.. That my friend tells the diffrent between a warrior who lknows what he is doing and one who is playing it like a tradintion warrior and just stand there soaking up damage..

But the first thing should come to person mind is they wear leather armor, which should give a hint you can't stand and take hit like you could..

Wahh, What!!.. Your telling me i put in more time and effort than you and i shouldn't be rewarded"... Thats like saying i work 80hrs a week and you work 40hrs and becuase you can't work the 80hrs, I shouldn't  be paid (or rewarded) extra.... Can't see the logic.

Back to the topic...

I think in a month or 2 people will start to move on from GW 2, not becuase it sucks or anything of the sort..

But because it free, and they don't want to get burnt out...

by that argument, i don't see why some people earn millions and i earn a smidgen of that when i work some 50+ hours most weeks and they're working a good deal less. they seem to get long lunch breaks, too. in restaurants and cafes. with other dudes earning the same ridiculous pay. i get half an hour and that's it. my work bonus is a constant pain in my leg, bad lower back, and less superannuation than an ant can pee. and don't say they do their share of work, because work is something i never see them doing.

as for moving on... moving on to ... what? not much else due out at this stage.

if someone else has more time to play, it's because they're unemployed or a student. either way, they're playing on my taxes. in which case, i'm paying for them to play. so they should be giving ME the bonus extras as a thankyou for giving THEM the time to play. because, yes, i'm STILL paying more taxes than those guys going to lunch and getting paid more.

i guess what i'm saying is: life ain't fair, but i'm so glad there's at least one game coming out that's giving me the chance to pretend it could be for a few hours a day...

When i said move on, was talking maybe to console games, or other MMO's/Pc in general..

Quote "if someone else has more time to play, it's because they're unemployed or a student. either way, they're playing on my taxes. in which case, i'm paying for them to play''

That i don't agree with, I work 8 hrs a day, sleep between 3-5, rest is moslty on whatever game i feel to play...

The fundamental flaw with SW:TOR is going to be the exact same major flaw that plagues Rift and LotRO.  Each of these games seeks to be the alternative to WoW and not THE NEXT WoW.  By that very nature, developers are essentially trying to simply be second best rather than trying to blow the doors wide open like WoW did with the EQ formula.

This doesn't mean these games are destined to fail.  Games that have failed such as WAR and AoC each had fundamental issues that caused their subscribers to bail.  Rift and LotRO were all incredibly polished games at release and have no major issues that have driven away subscribers.  They've lost subscribers, but comparatively speaking, they're both doing fairly well.

It is very possible that SW:TOR will end up the same way.  It could have a huge number of box sales and subscribers for a few months to around a third of what the subs were at launch.  Of course, this isn't a terrible thing, but it would be a disappointment for those who think or who wish that SW:TOR will be a major success.

True, and its hard for dev's making a MMO without the masses comparing there efforts to WoW. Its one thing to want innovation/something new, but when one game single handly has change the face of mmo it hard to compete without being critizied, Oh your not like WOW this or Your not like WoW that. So these dev's i think are taking the best approach and see what worked in WoW and add there spin on it, just in a different setting.

I too fell ToR will start out hot and fade (much slower than past efforts)..

Reason 1) Raids and the "Holy Trinity System",

It works when a game just launches but after 6months on if your not in a guild that does them, your left without getting the best stuff, then the feeling of you can't compete set in. And the constant spamming of looking for healer/tank to do etc runs will become tiresome after awhile.

Reason 2) MMO Market

WoW became so successful because it had time to get there. Now the market is so croowed that for the next 5years at least 2 or more mmo's will be release.

Reason 3) Content

This one kind of baffles me, but it seem no matter how much content a dev's puts in its never enough but then where there more than enough, person say its too much for a grind fest .. **Scratches Head**

If, somehow, WoW continues to be the big thing going from 2012 onward with the MoP expansion, I'm not going to blame Blizzard or the people who play WoW. I'm going to blame its competition for being so uninspired and narrowminded that Blizzard BEAT them with Pandas.

"Look at us. We're Blizzard. We can take our companies practical joke from 2003, make an expansion revolved around them - throw in POKEMON for good measure - and STILL beat you."

All I can say... Bioware, Arenanet, Funcom... step up your game. Because, I sure as hell don't want to see what WoW 6.0 has in store. How about, talking multi-colored Dinosaurs, in OUTER SPACE?

Orcs....in...SPACE! [...Space...Spa..ace...ace...]

LOL, but i get the feeling this Xpac will have a shorter cycle than the others. Reason being 1) There is no major boss to fight (seems all of them are resting), and 2) Seems pvp is the focus with them mentioning the Alliance & Horde are back at it..

I expect this xpac to get 2 major content patch before they announce another xpac.

Kung Fu Panda is now a kiddie TV series, so WoW players have something to do while the patch is applied.

[Mod Edit]

First off most north american WoW players WILL try SWTOR so WoW is the majority of your player base.  In fact the game was basicly designed for bored WoW kids.

Second: Having tried the game briefly SWTOR seems to be WoW on Super Easy Mode.  If you find Wow easy SWTOR will be a joke.  Thats PvE and PvP complexity

Third: SWTOR also has the most brutal AI and no complexity to the UI whatsoever.  It truely the simplest MMO I've ever tried.  Even a child of 6 could play this game with ease

OK, but try to take in note who there target audience is (the masses). SWTOR isn't catering to the niche crowd who wants a revolution in the mmo genre.

There major aim is to turn a profit, which i think they will do but as for longevity thats another matter of time and patience of MMO players...

Thing is what is innovate to one person, can be a drag to another.. Challenge is it find that perfect line of being innovate and not be a drag to the masses. All truth be told MMO players of today, aren't as forgiving or has the tolerance towards when a game is trying to be innovative (they might claim its too weird), we see it on console too. You can be innovate and cater to a Niche market, hoping to turn a small profit and stay afloat.

It would be cool if all mmo's in developement, aim to be aleast 25% innovative. But wishful thinking i guess

WoW has become a WoW clone, and not a very good one, frankly.

The expansions are soulless and joyless with more cut-copy-and-paste than anything fun and innovative.

Clearly the Blizzard A and B teams are no longer on WoW, leaving a clueless group lead by every-time-I-post-people-quit Greg Street.

I loved WoW and will be saddened to leave, but also strangely satisfied to let my wallet tell Blizzard, "Stupid f'ing pandas"

I was thinking the same tthing.. I should be obvious has moved some of there telents over to other stuff.

Personally I would love for them to move away from the ''Holy Trinity system'' of needing a Tank, DPS and healer, but we all known its too late in the games life for that to happen. That systems hampers a game over its life cycle, I can see TOR going down the same route, after the hype has faded and person leave, then we'll start having trouble LFG's etc..

This coming xpac just seems to be a filler to quell the losing subs number for awhile, after all there is no hype MMO releasing next year, except for GW 2 and somewhat Tera..

But heck, 6+ year atop of the subs list is no small feat for any company.. They must have done something right and other can learn from that. And i expect them to stay atop of the subs list for maybe another 1-2 years...

Quote:

No, he is making blizzard a lot of money.  The game doesnt revolve around real MMO players anymore its now a family game, the kids will cherish the panda thing so will the girl gamers, another market they have tapped into.  Blizzard are thinking outside the box.

Thats one of the smartest comments ever, reguarding MOP.. People fail to see that WoW has really gotten too big for Blizz and of course they don't mind becuase it brings the doe in.. Blizz knows that WoW won't ever retain a high player base number but they sure as hell don't want that number to dwindle too fast, so in doing so try to open the game up to other type of players.

Blizz isn't really forcing anyone to buy the xpac or have to play the panda race. But if it brings in 100k New player to WoW, its all good..

I personally don't find the panda thing a big deal... Hell people were asking Naga's to be a playable race, so blizz quell that part by letting you could control them in a Cata quest line..  Hell Taurens are cows and that didn't get a backlash as panda.

Also, I think this expansion is like and inter-mission / hold over for blizz. seeing there is not Major Boss bent on destruction to set out to kill..

NO because you can't please everyone all the time... What if the general populace vote they want said feature in the game but when blizz implements it, 60 % of that General populace that voted they wanted it in the game doesn't like how blizz put said feature in the game.. Then it becomes a backlash...

Dev's should always try to design around the concept of is it fun to play, and not be too easy or too challenging. Now what a dev's finds fun doesn't always turn out to be fun for the mass population..

this part caught my eye.

VirusDancer say

"You could remove every other player in the game (perhaps leave enough friends to fill out a party), and tada - the world is pretty much scaled to accomodate that.  For the most part, the worlds are scaled as if they were in a single player game.

Now add 10 more people.  Add 100 more people.  Add 1000 more people.  The world is the same world that was designed for that single person or that group of friends playing together.  It is crowded now though, eh?"

looking back on the game world, VirusDancer is right. From Themepark to Sandbox to Sandpark. They game world in all of them are designed around solo or small scale party.

yet the game world fits massively more players. But nothing in the game world, seem to be designed to fit this massive playerbase feel.

Its always,

"Iam raiding this open world Boss with my party"

"iam fighting this npc solo"

"iam attacking this guild over there's guild keep"

when will MMORPG's game world expand beyond these small group gameplay, and into something of even greater scale and stability? Do we have the tech for this right now? what about if the game were to have WoW like graphics or something, then could it handle this level of mass scale gameplay?

I cant wait to see the future of this and how Developers handle this.

True, but your missing the main point in developing MMO's... I think dev's have taught of this grand scale, but you run a serous risk of when the game becomes too big and the player base shrinks. Remember MMOs fight to keep our attention and hope that we keep paying for months/years even. You or 5% of the game population might appreciate this grand/mass scale gameplay, but i fear most of the populace wouldn't stick around for too long to support the game.  So dev's scale back and try to find the perfect balance of not too small and not too grand.

Also that mass scale gameplay you speak of have been done alot by korean mmo companies, that involve sieges etc, and they use Aion type graphics also. But the failed to take off as only a few persons find them worthwhile..

Did you buy Frozen throne?

They had Pandaren.

What about fool me twice?

LoL, thats what crack me up when i see people posting claiming they played the Warcraft series, but yet still they are shock the Pandas are in WoW.. If some persons where part of the WoW forum, they would have seen that people were requesting Pandarens since the first Expansion. Why, because they saw WoW as a game Blizz could fully tell the tale of Pandarens race that where last seen in Warcraft 3... I find it amazing and daring on Blizz half to keep adding and trying new stuff in WoW, who would have taught of a mini Pokemon Game...

No one rushes the 800lb gorilla in the room, so don't expect them to say ehhh about titan. Blizz has the luxuary of its fans and being one of the few Pc only dev's thats hughly profitable (even though they claim they can support of systems).  Even if WoW was to drop to 4mil subs, its stiff profitable maybe not as before but it still it.

I think its a good bet not to expect them to fully say anything yet, until after the next 2 WoW xpac's but i expect will tibits now and again to be revealed. There is also the exception and if investors demands it they will have to say something...

Also in a past interview  R.A. Salvatore stated the final game should have aleast 100+ random dungeon combinations... Makes it more appealing, at least i won't see dungeons repeating and just opening new paths (cough Dragon Age 2) etc.  Since it seems your playing a near final build, they can go ahead and move some of the dev team to the MMO and your right about 4-6 months QA. I really hope thhis takes off, with the mmo leading to bigger & better things...

You will have to wait until the game has launch for Ea to release numbers on pre-order and sales.. They will release those numbers for the simple fact that shareholders will want to know... Until then you can use the vgchartz  as a starting point but i believe it has broken the 600k pre-order already, seeing that Ea CEO said in a past interview that they are thinking of stop taking in pre-order just so the lauch could go over smooth (he would be foolish to do that), well guess what it won't go over smooth, the most they can do is have servers on stand-by just incase Q-line get wayyyyyyy long, similar to what happen to Rift on there early launch weekend.. (Sorry for straying off the topic)..

I think they left out The Lifetime Sub Package, lol...

Quote:

"The best prediction that I've heard mentions a late Q1/ early Q2 of 2012. With the amount of effort and patience they've put into making this game, I think that would be much more likely. Granted, I'm sure they will want to space the launch away from D3, that could put a kink in their release. However, that said, I think they are going to be doing their big release after this wave of AAA games comes out. It not only gives them more time to polish their game, but it makes a lot more business sense as well."

I also think this is the case also but I'm norrowing it down to between the March- April time frame, with Diablo coming in Feb..

While i feel ToR, won't be the last big budget MMOG, i do think F2P will become the dominate payment style. I expect Blizz to go Big-Budget with ''TiTan'' maybe even bigger than WoW and while every publisher don't have the money to go big, quality titles will come and go. F2P / Micro-Transaction will be the dominant way to go because the average consumer feels less restricted in puchasing an item for $10 than paying $15 a month . Yes there will still be games that choose the $15 a month route but players tend to expect more out of those games than they do F2P.

I can see Bioware putting up some cool rides in the EA Store, weather it be Speedsters/Ships and a majority of the player base buying it...
