you can rush through every content, skyrim was completed in 4 hours, you wanna tell me skyrim had no content?

hell, mario even was completed in 10 mins i think.

That was my point, it is a single player RPG, sell it that way. People have finished every quest and filled out the entire skill wheel. That is FULL completion and it has only been two weeks.  Is strange though when this game gets props in the OP for having "plenty" content.  Quantity of content is objective, so 60 to 80 hours may be plenty. Maybe I expect to much from MASSIVE MO games.

Yes it has as much content as a single player RPG. It is a pretty average RPG though.

This game has plenty of issues I don't mention, so I'm not out for blood. It just happens to be my most recent MMO, when I pick up another one will go over there.

Krytycal's raison d'être is to bash TSW combat. he's been doing it for weeks (going back into beta). he spends the time to make and post craftily edited videos on youtube, and then spends hours in these forums explaining to everyone how much it sucks, both in PvP and PvE. my god, man...why do you continue on with this? if you clearly hate it so much, go play something else until your beloved GW2 releases.

some people like the idea of experimenting with builds to find the most effective combinations, not merely the most efficient in terms of button-mashing.

does it matter so much to you that one person might be convinced not to play the game after you continue to bang this drum so loudly?  go troll somewhere else please. you've made your point, such as it is.

Besides the fact that I don't believe he used outer tier abilities for mid range content because he wouldn't have them unlocked yet.  His refusal to acknowledge that tanks need to use hate/threat generation and interrupts astounds me.  Which in of itself would acknowledge that you need to hit more than 2 or 3 buttons.

Right there is more than a two button spam fest.  But if you want to talk about spam fest - GW2 has an auto-attack, so the game does the spamming for you to begin with.

That's the point I think is the most laughable when those that are craddling the GW2 combat so much accuse TSW of being all about spam.  srsly.

The taunt, you use once in a fight and if the fight lasts 30 hours you can do well with a two button rotation after. If one weapon is swords, even better.

The second part doesn't hold, GW2 spent much more effort polishing the game and even more so on combat.  Even with limited skills. The skills present play differently within a single class then two opposite builds in TSW.  I can't think of a single MMO with such underwhelming skills, even the (Elite) abilities are just basic CC. Read any review, the combat was put on blast in TSW and I would think the two button spam combat would be one of the reasons, another would be weak abilities all around.

Here is why GW2 combat is better, better defined skills and more strategy

TSW most innovative mmorpg of the year, so far.

There, I fixed the title for you.  :)

please list what is innovative. so far in this thread no one listed a single thing. innovative means something new. TSW borrows everything from what I say after playing through 7 of 8 zones.

Hi guys, me again..

I'm playing Rift at the moment.. I started a top a time ago about Why People are coming back to Rift. In the time Rift was starting to be cool again, more players are always good. Then I realised that this new wave started to fade again... and I realise the why - Secret World.

Is the game worth? Since everybody is playing it, should I try it???

Rift has an 84 on metacritic and way more polish + updates.  TSW has a 73.  In reality TSW started with half of the content of day 1 rift. No one can desagree that rift has four plus times the content of TSW. My addition is rift also has better core game mechanics and polish. better instances and raids.

I played rift.

Any fist build for all factions, by a long shot.

AR is nurfed it is way underpowerd because leach is underpowered.  The game isn't balanced.

Blood is second but restores nothing.

Fist primary and 1 or 2 blood abilities would be best.

By best, I mean is no reason to try anything else as you are gimping yourself.

Is 1 BEST tank, Heal, and DPS. use a parser.

Two possiblities.

And no i see no point to lag switch in a tab target game so im not 100% on that assumption.

I already mentioned lag swtich, the reason is distance. The other even better reason imo is jousting type pvp if 2 players have the same distance.

One issue with TSW is a 180 degree attack arch, which is not good for a pvp game esp when assault rifle range greater than all by a lot, but it will still work out to a slight advantage in PvP.

thats will show your ping. Looks like its you, who got lag.

i noticed that i can move and use skills as normal with ping more then 4000.

You didn't read the OP, the issue is server locations.  No lag gives advantage if you hot a match in say FPS, huge lag gives advantage in MMOs.

This isn't a PvP game but if you have a ping of 4,000 something is wrong. If it was me, I would lag switch it up to 4,000 and you would never lose a 1v1. It isn't a PvP game but can get rank 10 gear very easy from PvP.

7.5 is a good score (enjoy the game very much)

It's most of the 9 and 9.5/10 for games that I think are totally bogus. To me there are only a couple of those a decade.

Thats the problem. With so many 8-9's out there and with people actually tuning into gamespot for the numbers. Who has time for 7-7.5.  No it shouldn't be a bad score. But they have made it that by over rating games.

Those games have higher production values, more stuff, etc. I am in an American school and anyone who gets a C or less has issues.A 7.5 or 75 is a C. If you get lower than a C you have to repeat core classes to graduate.

I'm supprised an MMO would release today without much thought to combat, this is why the game rated so poorly.

To be fair, these early reviews are judging the game like they would a regular game: combat, mechanics, story, etc. like a single player RPG.

TSW doesn't have much past a short single player RPG, if you take more than 100 hours finishing everything something is wrong. I took 70 in beta.   Not including if you repeat stuff, such as instances. It has been two weeks and many are finished everything, instances are getting beat on the hardest setting every day.

I would hope the MMO score would be much lower than 7.5. poor combat, worst PvP in years, no raids.  skills and passives are not balanced.  Story is an xfile rip off and many of the quest are. many quest are the same old kill 30 of these for 4 tiers.

So why was this game made? The lead developer is no stephen king, his writing is cliche, there are no options and fewer voice overs than SWTOR.  most quest are green that have no voice over, is why you can have 3 of them.  Everquest 2 had more voice acting.

Two weeks after release, i have left this game behind.

If I was still playing that would have been the last straw.

PvP wasn't doing it for me and no word on end game, also 2 button combat.  I took my sig link from some random forum I just noticed Famine posting in about combat of all things. No I'm no stalker, I just read that forums for upcomming VG news

Even worse is the; everyone is a winner philosophy where itemozation in SWTOR is supposed to be the same for everyone. WoW is rumored to be like that.  In SWTOR you can custom both the stats and appearacne of your gear like SWTOR.

Darkside scoundrel was a funny story and whatever the word means to make fun of itself. movies do it a lot. The morality system is what Bioware was founded on, EA killed the quality but you can't blast SWTOR's story, any of those class stories aside from jedi shadow was well done and would have made a great single player RPG.

I don't recall any mob fights in SWTOR like for example the final one in Polaris and not every mechanic has a "white marker" on the ground. Again as I already said you're full of it. This isn't to say TSW's are anything revolutionary. Just that your shtick is bs.

The stories in SWTOR were bland and predictable for the most part far as I'm concerned and frankly for those that were displeased with it I'm tired of everything being blamed on EA. BW are the main ones that should actually get the blame for that game much as people like to dump on EA.

Anyways, as for SWTOR I actually enjoyed it. I got a few months out of it like I expected I would. I expect the same with this game. If I get more than yay me. I'm well awawre of TSW's shortcomings and it certainly has some. Main gist for me is the fact you tend to embellish to the point of verging on lying or simply bring up stuff because for some odd reason this game really gets to you.

Neither is very good for different reasons but here is the example you gave looks as boring as it was when I played, standard tank and spank, move away from white markers. Everything is tank or kite and spank, SWTOR required strats and besides the enrage timers everyone had to be doing the right thing. SWTOR has some puzzles going on with some of the boss fights too.

After playing SWTOR, then Tera, I was surprised how much the quality of group instances had dropped.

Here are some small team SWTOR:

4 man instance: D7

Mob AI in both games is close to zero,  Boss AI was much better in SWTOR.  SWTOR had a lot of raid bosses by 3 months on top of hard modes and the once and done class story bosses.  SWTOR's raids where Buggy but I would expect the same from TSW.  SWTOR had 16 man raids, TSW is 10 so not much of a raid.  SWTOR had more developers to produce content, is why I feel safe in saying they could release more.

Quests are about the same, some of the stories and quests in SWTOR have much better writing.  All the writing in TSW was stoic or cliche.  SWTOR had one issue due to the Star Wars IP which wouldn't allow much creative liscense.  The imperial agent story was better than the main questline of TSW though.  Smuggler was more humorous. Which leads to another longevity point, many SWTOR players have multiple alts. TSW had the writing edge due to dialog options and some choices that can change a story.

TSW is the same old, SWTOR has guns, magic, and blades and despite happening a long time ago in a far away place it is very modern. I spent around 95% of my time in TSW doing the same thing I do in all MMOs, kill some mob for a quest or pick up something.

Is no reason to compare, TSW is just a bellow average MMO, as was pointed out in the first post. Most MMOs get 8-9/10 scores. I already played through the game but if I was on the fence, a sub 8 review average will keep me away.  TSW advertises at those sites, so gets a $$$ bump.

Mob AI is the same. So is the boss AI so as usual you're full of it. Actually there are some that surpass what I have seen in SWTOR.

You don't need a huge white marker on the ground to know when to avoid stuff in SWTOR,  the scripting and animations where better in SWTOR, fight mechanics aside from timed enrage.   I'm not a SWTOR fan, I played it a few months but found it to be tailered to the super casual players. So wait a second, TSW is the same old same old, but SW:TOR is different because it has guns, blades and magic .. umm...  uuuh.... how do I even respond to this ?

What game are you actually talking about when you say TSW,   to quote Inyego Montoya "I do not think TSW means what you think it means"

Both games are the same old, they bring nothing new to the MMO formula.  Grind quests/mobs get loot and XP.  Setting doesn't change anything is my point as it is cosmetic. WoW has guns too ;p

I have never said the game is not fun or there is no enjoyment, i have said that the game will die off in the same manor as SWTOR.

I have one word for you: monthly content updates

SWTOR prabably released more content in the first 6 months than TSW will be abe to in 6 months.  You can't really knock SWTOR as it has way more players today. discounting the free week going on now.

SWTOR has better combat, the warzones are better designed, and it has raids. not the best but it has more to keep players than TSW does.

What kind of pvp do you enjoy, and combat system for that matter?

IMHO, i like TSW and potential for great pvp is there, but they need to improve Fusang and ad alot more WZ, and interconnect them.

As always, i keep saying, if you want good large scale pvp, Planetside 2 is the only good one, as long as it delievers.

I’m a little old school when it comes to pvp. I like open world pvp with somewhat harsh death penalties. To me Asherons Call had/has the best open world pvp to this date. I also like Arena play, rankings, pvp rewards as such are in WOW. Was something about rift that I liked, maybe is the fact that you could pvp grind in that game, and had some nice achievements you could obtain, but the pvp grind in that game is best to date in my book. I could pvp grind in rift for hours on end and still get that heart pumping excitement from that game. Absolutely love Tera targeting system, is the perfect direction to go in as far as any pvp mmo goes, they broke ground there, problem is that they don’t know what to do with it. As far as open pvp goes, I like true open world pvp, anything goes, anyplace at anytime with harsh death penalties. Gives people a means to band together and police things, and its always edgy, exciting and challenging… kind of stuff never gets old to me.
Maybe this game here is not for me... I wish some hardcore well designed pvp game would come out soon. Seems like its been a while now(sighs). You know?

Tera is probably the best world PvP, the only penalty is like 15 minutes corpse runs and broken enchants or a kill when GvG.  The biggest risk vs reward now in ranked PvP where you have your team and try to beat the other team.  Has been hype for a while as getting to the top is hard and you don't have to grind, just play a set number of matches and play better than your opposition.

Dayz has permadeath so can be fun.

TSW has tacked on combat then went ahead and tacked on PvP just before release.

Gamespot review 7.5 or 75

User score 7.9 after 100 players posted 10s on day 1

Metacritic 7.2 or 72

Is this surprising anyone who played it? combat, pvp, not much content, BUGz.

EQ1...necros don't need a group because they are a group.

I played a necro in rift and was cool, but nor even close to EQ1.

I play tanks but I do have a soft spot for necros even thought I didn't play a necro  in eq1, just knew a bunch of them. I played a tank till rifts forst instance and couldn't find a group so rerolled to necro.

I know some gamers get paid from e sports, Korea. 100k USD + contracts while taking 1st place in MLG might cover travel expenses.  Others exploit or grind for chump change in RMAH like diablo or more nefarious exploits. Diablo 3 players where acting a fool over the RMAH with $$$ in their eyes before bots and dupes exploited to victory.

The only real overlord game is the stock market in which most MMO companies get traded in.  So how can we use our knowledge to get paid?

So what is they key, to profits?

Even after playing closed beta I am unsure of the game's future. I notice a dire lack of content so know the game will not do as well as expected. Yet the stock is pumped high after company officials declare expectations. Short sell every MMO. post launch? (short sell, is when you sell what you don;t have and have X number of days to deliver so you buy later on for a lower price.

MMOs are meant for longevity and I know MMOs are not built that way anymore. Though you only have two weeks at most to short a stock and it takes months for many MMO casuals to /unsub.

When would be the best time's to short a stock? launch is one I see, maybe 1 month after launch, and then a day before the quarterly report.

any critiques or tips?

I've been rolling Assault Rifle/Blood Magic with an emphasis on leech abilities.

You are gimping yourself.  Leach abilities where nerfed. is way underpowered.  Other than that it is the easiest MMO to heal in ever.  You can heal while moving, you get double heal spenders.

I played a tank in instances and know it was easy because I was 3/4 tank and 1/4 healer and a few times my healer died early.

Don't think most people will enjoy healing as it is boring 111111 2 3 1111111 2 3, many said as much on the official forums.

The bosses are much much easier than a lot of MMOs though, rift, WoW, everquest 1, everquest 2, swtor, tera, warhammer's bosses where nuts at release, aion's bosses where nuts at release. I always tank but have good communication with healers.  PvP is about the same.

I guess you could call 0.12% a representative sample. If they weren't self-selected...

Once you disreguard asian players as they don't use xfire, WoW has closer to 2-3 million players, Then you have to remember some things, it is summer time, the expansion is on the way, not much has come out in a while, many players have cleared and farmed everything for a long time. WoW is pretty strange as like other games they bill differently in asia. I'm not sure if charging some kid on a 96 hour straight marathon session at the local cafe gets marked down as a subscriber or not, I just don't know.

I would say maybe 1 millionish WoW players log on everyday in the states, europe, and  australia.

A bit on the positive note, as a response to the previous thread about the decline of Funcom's stock from about 15,90 to about 10,80, it is nice to see the stock is growing again by 10% to 12,15. Which is compared to June 2010, an increase by 188%.

It was 23 Nok last month, also don't forget the currency is NOK so is is around 2 dollars. Not many stocks sell for 2 dollars.

I predict 5 NoK /share in 4 months, due to revenue stream.  They will declare the box sales, not disclose LTS numbers which will boost next month's report. Then players will leave, not all but 400,000 won't be playing in a few months, like SWTOR a bit under half will stay for 6 months.  SWTOR has better roll an alt, PvP and raid options though.

Who knows, Xfire makes TSW release look terrible compared to every single AAA MMO that has released in the last 10 years. Top 6 is assured for MMOs at release.

Because no one in there right mind uses bloody xfire, one of the most pointless apps ever. Maybe 5 or 6 years ago it was cool but people move on.

What is the cool game everyone plays today? League of Legends?  34,000 players play it with x fire. Call of duty 4 pretty cool? 45,000 players play it with x fire. WoW? 11,000 players.

Someone has to tell those people how untrendy they are.

What do TSW players use that measures game activity better? black berrys, ! pad, carrier pigeon?  TSW asks you to use X fire. So next time you are in game warn those poor 1,000 souls using it about how un trendy it is.
