Originally posted by Alber_gamer The amount of detail is actually quite amazing in Wildstar, but the textures are not realistic. They weren't going for realism. Disney movies today don't look much different than Disney movies 10 years ago, and that's what they were going for. You can call it what you want, and you can also be wrong. The same silly argument pops up regarding Borderlands. They didn't go for realism for BL2 even though so many people complained, they stuck with their "artistic choice", even with a big budget. Let's face facts, you just don't like it. That's the beginning and the end of your argument. |

As someone who draws a lot, and has attempted to animate a few times, the art of Wildstar is great to me. I understand that it won't be for everyone, but I think more people are coming around and realizing that graphics don't make a game. And if not, it's their loss I guess. They have other choices.

Originally posted by UsualSuspect I found TSW to be one of the worst MMO's I've ever played. Rift is not a bad game, I just couldn't stick with it after so many years of WoW. TSW is cheap now though, if you're into that sort of game. But again, Rift is free. My answer is obvious. |

Originally posted by botrytis He refers to WoW as Social gaming. I myself am proof it's not. I played for nearly two years before really talking to anyone at all or joining a guild. WoW never, ever encouraged you to talk to anyone. Why should you? Because if you join the person running around the same zone, he can't steal your mobs? That's not a reason to socialize, that's a reason to be paranoid and feel forced to group. |

I'm so confused about how this game is thriving...

Originally posted by Himshim Heh. I played WoW for 5 years, maybe it's different now, but on all of the servers I played on, the experience of meeting people outside of cities was about the same as GW2. WoW cities were packed, zones were practically empty. A handful of people questing. It's no different. In fact, I see more people in zones in GW2 than I saw in WoW usually, just not late at night. Gotta say, it's pretty pointless (to me) to go back to a game where other people in a zone are competition. Once I enjoyed the tagless mob system of GW2, every other game fails to keep up. Nice avatar though, 40k rocks! |

Originally posted by simsalabim77 I figure what itgrowls meant was "soloing" mobs. In that sense, if he got to level 80, he'd have earned more than 1 silver a day just going back with his high level gear and one-shotting lvl 5's for blood, etc. You don't even have to be good at your class to do that. One wave of the flame thrower would work fine, unless you don't know what flame thrower is... and your keyboard has turned into a potato. |

Originally posted by Bad.dog Well, considering even low level mats sell for more than that, and in fact often sell higher than mid level mats, either he's playing it wrong or he's just plain lying. You can practically fall down and earn more than a silver even at a level in the single digits. No one can be that bad at playing an Engineer. He was clearly exaggerating. |

Looks like Archeage, but not disappointing. However, I am not about to get all hot and bothered over a game that isn't even close to release here. I will just say it looks amazing and I'll keep watching it.

Originally posted by itgrowls Sorry but that bit about not being able to earn anything solo is incredibly false. Sure you don't like the game, but you don't have to deliberately say things that aren't true. Either that or you're just bad, but either way, I find it ironic that you're tired of people "fooling the masses", when you attempt to fool people right in the same post by comparing YOUR experiences to EVERYONE's. Literally everyone I play with can solo farm. A silver for a day's work? LOL And people wonder where the phrase "you're playing it wrong" came from. |

I'm so confused about how this game is thriving...
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/22/13 2:20:10 PM
Why don't you not be confused about it if you only played for 3 weeks? Why do you care? Thriving, not thriving, you didn't put any time into the GW2 world, and you're obviously not around it much, so how would you even know if it was active or not? The game has a pretty decent population, despite what some of the usual suspects like to claim. It didn't defeat WoW and it never will, but it's successful and people are enjoying it. So again, why do you care? Since you no longer have to spam forums with CU propaganda, are you trying to tear down other games? |

It'll take them months to get 5 pieces of virtual junk, and all the while they're paying. Let's smoke some rolled up 20's and thank sub-only gamers for their devotion, fellas" That's my personal definition of a scam. |

I don't know how "Massively" Multiplayer an arena style fighting game can be, but I know the Soul Calibur titles allow very in-depth customization, online play, and rankings. I don't play consoles anymore, but a friend of mine loves the online aspects of those games. EDIT: D'oh.. you said 2D. Well, there's also the option of downloading emulators or searching for groups that emulate on that built-in client that allows users to connect via TCP/IP (starts with a K I think). Off-hand, I don't know of any 2D pvp fighters in the style you're looking for that are advertised as MMO's though. MMOHut lists 2D non-RPG MMOs on their front page. |

Originally posted by Studdley 20 minutes? Damn, that makes the boat in Aion's Sanctum look like a short trip. No I don't remember that, since I didn't play EQ, but I do remember having to wait a week to try and upgrade my gear because Blizzard wants to get richer than they already are. |

Originally posted by gr0und3d You conveniently left out the MMOs that are sub with cash shops. Man I love those. Don't forget that unless you buy the new expansions (and keep paying the $15 on top of it), it's the biggest "gate" that ever existed. How many people are going to keep paying a sub without paying for the new content? Even I've felt forced to upgrade so I could play with my friends. That's pretty shitty. It's not all either black or white. F2P's have gating, and I've illustrated how P2P isn't perfect and never will be. |

Still, no MMORPG surpasses WoW in fluid combat (in my opinion): Why not?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/21/13 6:14:27 PM
Yeah, obviously I liked GW2, but WoW does do combat very well for its style. It's the big #1 reason I'd always end up back in WoW for all those years when sluggish games like Rift were being released. DCUO was ok. Aion and TERA? TSW? I wasn't really impressed. It all makes me wonder what "Titan" will control like. |
