Firefall: League for Gamers Formed
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/26/12 8:57:04 AM
SOPA/PIPA/ACTA need to be voted out and just DIE. Since when do we need congress to tell us how to act, and monitor our online usage. Really now? Is it just me, or do other people think that Congress should stay out of this? Maybe we should intrude on them for the "skeletons" in their closet, majority are crooks, thieves, rapists, and serial killers. Sadly, the ones that need to go have soo much money they manage to stay in office. |

Braindead - No matter how you put this, the title gives it away. Enlightened Outcast - Even though they are right, the community flames them anyway. Assassin - Usually kills only 1 target forum user then leaves. Vampire - Sucks the life / fun from everything, then complains. |

Please do not ruin something that helped me through high school (over exagerating). Something like CB needs to be anime only, because it just so happens people can't help but take something good and ruin it. |

Xsyon Earth 2012: Prelude: 'Carting' Your Stuff Around
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/20/12 3:52:36 PM
The lack of any sort of game mechanics that are acceptable makes this game a FFF. Now, I can't tell you why not to play the game, but I can tell you to look at all the reviews from beta until now. Have a good laugh, but it's not the end of the game. With the right advertising and updates to the game it'll grow back... unless we kill it now. |

Use Google lately? There are indie mmog solutions available at the click of a button and a few keystrokes on your keyboard. So you can't find big world indie for 3k? Can't try to get into Hero Engine? People can't think unless blindly lead by the nose to their 1 cure all solution? You don't got anything we want in our game if all you have is concept ideas. We don't want another do it all Walmart sandbox, the kind that fail within the first few days. I suggest you start working with Unreal Development Kit and learn that to make a rpg game. Then move on to Big Worlds Indie if you want total control over your mmog client and servers, or go Hero Engine if you aren't willing to have total control over your sources. You want the bare flat basics? You won't survive unless you market and hype your product correctly. You advertising veggies to mostly meat eaters, and your veggies so far stink in quality. It took me 1 day to get into Hero Engine, and 2 weeks for them to setup my world and key. I switched from Hero to Big Worlds once I felt I was confident enough to learn scripting myself. It's all easy, but very time consuming. I do it all, model, code, animate, script, create sound and voices because I have to. When I can't do something I outsource. As for marketing I got that down, and yes it will take several months to hype up the people and create organic traffic. These are people that are interested in your game from you posting it all over game resource sites. You then can switch it up to paid articles and traffic. You also want to make sure your game meets a current demand in the game genre that is profitable and preferably oversaturatred. Example of this is a Action FPS. There is a lot of them, and a lot of them sell. Once you figure out your game, what type of genre and what type of game it is, hybrid or one sided, you can then begin to market. Do a good enough job and people will be dying to play, do it poorly and you will shutdown and people won't even knew you existed. Don't take my solid word for it, use Google. Then think and meditate on what you found using Google. Search comments of people that reviewed games and try to build your games on those reviews, how much more they wanted added into that type of game, and which games were with the most robust benefits that were popular. Benefits as in features, gameplay, eyecandy, and even pyschology of the game. You need to know your market before you make your product, then you need to know your customers to be able to sell your product to them, whether it is F2P, B2P, P2P, or some other style. |

General: Should SOPA Be Stopped?
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/17/12 11:40:35 PM
DMCA exists. Why do they need SOPA? Why get rid of the due process? No process where a word can take down a site at will because its competition? Are people that agree retarded or insane? Do you want me to take down your job, life, gf/bf with ONE word, and you can't do anything about it? Wnat me to take your car, house, money, family, friends and stick you in jail with ONE word? That is SOPA. Any site that EA finds as competition and doesn't see fit, can take it down without any legal action other than their word against yours.
Read the fine print, SOPA gives people the power to take down anything at will on the internet based on their word. Only that now big named publishers can have this power, and anyone else, including us small developers and the game users themselves have NO SAY what so ever. |

Finally ready to get off the theme park ride
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/15/12 10:58:47 PM
Mass majority of gamers are in need to be lead like sheep. The very few that want to be leaders inside the game want the freedom to lead. Instead of siding with or against snadbox or themepark, we should be taking the best and least of both, combining them together, and improving up it. Glad you got off the themepark ride. |

The best pricing model for the consumer: B2P with content cash-shop
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/13/12 8:03:18 AM
Think of a product your going to devote money to. For the sake of everyone here let's say you make the next gen gaming console better than XBox 360 and PS3 will ever be. Your product sells roughly for $200, and the features are amazing. Your operational and development cost globally demands that the product must stay over $83 a sale in order for you to pay your expenses. Some group of kids come in and say that because XBOX 360 is now $53 and comes with 60 games, your product needs to be $53 and come with twice as many games. Oh and the catch is, they want you product now to be on sale for 50% off for the rest of the year perhaps.
How do you feel? You think it's fair to demand for "retardation" (as I literally can't describe the one track minds of any of the thoughtless CHIMPS on here advocating that anything profitable for a developer should be outlawed and illegal begin to vemonously post their BILE in my eyes yet again) in terms of what you percieve is good for your wallet. Simple, don't buy the games. Don't support the idea of a cash shop game. Dont support any games, rather sit down and start learning something. Perhaps dig deeper into your own mind and realize that 90% of your argument isn't created by you, but by the words of others. Oh yes, I just went there. You mindless accept the thoughts of the "hate" crowd and anything that even percieves nearly as to offending the thoughts you absorbed from some 90 year pedo in his basement posting about how a game breaks his wallet. Instead you suffer from lack of fun and creativity. I look at some posts and literally want to smash the idiot behind that keyboard in the face with some brass knuckles for being a retard. Of course open oppinion I will not stand against, but to repeat in a parrot like form isn't viable to be classified as humanly intelligent.
On topic: Your suggestion for the Buy To Play model is only relevant if people: A. Psychologically feel they need the cash shop. B. Can appease the buyers remorse felt afterward. C. Sustain the company that runs or holds rights to the game. D. Is managed and maintained by open community votes. E. All rejects (low intelligence suggestions) are weeded out and excluded from game changing factors.
Why so harsh? Due to the fact that more than half are parrots I think I am rather soft. One track mind and free thinking has it's place, and I socially accept such forums to be 99% negative. That's like saying everything and everyone who does marketing and advertising is a crook. A blatant lie that was created by jealous people that refuse to accept the fact they are lazy, stupid, and do not wish to help meet other people's needs. Yet despite all this, Bill Gaytes gave more to charity than you will ever give, and some of the "monkey suits" give more to help the poor and in need than you will ever do in your life. So again I come back to topic, is such a thing viable only for consumers and why should consumers benefit only? Yes, a mmorpg is a attempt to appease pyschological beahaviors and addictions ranging from pron to out right violence. Why should a game (being in origin a pet project for missile targeting software) even appease only to the terms of the consumer? That is why Activision doesn't listen to you, your demands are out right stupid. Perhaps maybe if you thought what would be viable besides cattering to your self concious addiction to power and gambling. Most of the "parrots" are actually closet gamblers. They are addicted to the hype of power, and demand such to be free. No, and if you think such power comes without a price go outside into the real world and find out there are prices to be paid for everything. To set a psychological thought that everything should have no cost is GREED. As most won't even read this far, I conclude that it is impossible to teach anyone or give them logical truth. Good day to anyone who read this post, and I really don't give a crap about responses as I've stated in my earlier posts. Too many "parrots" to shift through and not enough bags for the bus loads of crap they spew daily. :D |

Question to the critics: Would you better receive this game if...
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 1/11/12 5:47:52 AM
I recieved this game as is. Too many screaming scrubs telling me why this and why that, and then when they realize something is crap, they pretend they saw and proclaimed it as a turd in the first place. This game lacks a lot of cool immersive features, features i don't even need to go over because only blind, simple minded people would miss (as in not notice). Game length is possibly 45 hours at max if you don't count the story quests. Nothing to go out and spend $60 on, and nothing really special enough to devote my time to. My next big failure seems to be GW2, which in total offers 40+ hours of content. Compare this to any of the single player SW games, and you'll find that it can't really compete with them. The problem was, they boasted about the massive cinematic stories, but failed to deliver much else. See it how you want to, but know this: The game is a turd, thx Bioware for screwing up another title. |

Eastern MMOs are becoming "adult" centric
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 1/06/12 6:12:57 PM
To gain even more of a mainstream application in the oversaturation of mmogs you will need eye candy. The easiest eye candy is sexy outfits with fit characters. The second easiest eye candy is massive amounts of violence. Psychologically it is easier to get addicted to sex than violence. The conclusion is use sexy outfits to sell and then use violence to sell more. Since games are about sales, and (if you think games don't need to cost a dime please don't comment me or I'll crucify you) people need to realize that you need a edge (most developers SUCK and let bugs and unimagintative features bore and drive people away) others don't. |

Xsyon Earth 2012: Prelude: Looking Forward
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/05/12 9:45:02 PM
lolx i laugh when indies dont use major mmog solutions for their games. Half of what they should have had before the bad reputation was already pre-done in Big World Tech and Hero Engine (both of which i have a developer seat on). I can only tell in all honesty that once you get bad reputation, then there is a slim chance to regain your playerbase. With 3 people, you can manage quite well with a mmog solution, and sorry to see that these 3 developers did not make the correct choices. |

General: SOPA, Gamers & the ESA
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 1/04/12 6:02:02 PM
Piracy comes from people who would never buy the game in the first place. It is wrong, horrible and has costed me dearly in times past. Most games today need to offer a demo, so atleast you can play before you commit $60 for a turd online game. To make matter worst, SOPA is disguised as a internet anti piracy bill. If you even READ SOPA, you will find out it is not a internet anti piracy bill, but rather the construction on the limitations that will allow big business to squash out any internet millionaires alongside the government powers. Read the bill, stop being ignorant, and start voting against it. Anyone in their right mind would be against this bill, it is in violation of our amendments to the constitution. On the impact side, there are sites with over 1 million signatures AGAINST SOPA, with case being able to sue the US goverment and reverse the bill. I bet you all that agree with SOPA agree to be internet sales taxed like in California? Any transaction, including payments via PayPal are subject to internet sales tax begining summer of 2012 by Governor Brown. The dork killed his campaign with this motion, but such a law is however unconstitutional. Regardless of the red zone of a state or federal budget operation, such laws are harsh and violations of freedom. I am against SOPA and against Piracy. Good luck with trying to justify the government telling you what you can do at certain times of day. This is the start, the more pushes and laws that they get away with, and it will only get worst. No problem for those who don't care, they like being controled like cattle only guided from food the bed with the help of the government. |

What does 2012 hold for you gaming wise?

Not that anyone needs to know but im going to increase my game budget this year by 10x. Mostly going to support fellow indie developers with my wallet. |

RMT in a game really depends on whether or not the game CAN and WILL deilver. If the general operations of the game are set for hardcore grinding, and casuals play, RMT will not work. Because unless there is a group of dedicated individuals supplying the demands of the economy any money earned from RMT would not cover operational costs. Thus a Cash Cow must be created, perhaps expansions and box price to cover future updates and development costs. RMT has to be presented correctly, and you must know that your audience is going to use it. |

D3 has a run for it's money, but D3 has a bigger playerbase of mindless drones that will buy it just to have it. I really don't trust NCSoft as well because of their track record. |

Why did TERA fail, and is there any hope of escaping that fate for its launch in the west?
General Discussion « TERA 12/26/11 4:33:40 PM
Did anyone check the subscription prices they were offering? Too many factors made "Tera" fall in the East. Practically, I think the game lacked any content and creativity that would help it succeed in either or market. The game maybe a beautiful piece of artwork, but what about everything else? We will see what this game has to offer soon enough. |

Seriously, WTF with all the softcore porn?!
Site Suggestions « General Discussion 12/26/11 4:27:43 PM
Eye Candy sells products. Some ads go long lengths to ensure the snare of atleast a click, yet alone a sign up.So you protest Victoria Secret and JC Penny for showing ads with people wearing a bra as a product? Don't get me wrong, I don't support adult only content, I support freedom of speech and expression. Don't like the ad, sure you can post and complain, but to get to the point where your complaints rule the internet or forum? No, now you should be protested for complaining and hurting my eyes. |

Scrub list, as it didn't really hit a point as to why someone would complain about a present or free gift they got that they actually wanted. I do agree some memberships are just silly, but a present is something that someone wants, and if they don't want that item, don't gift wrap it. You hate the person, you don't really care as to if they want the present or not. |

Getting bored of this game - sadly....
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 12/18/11 6:01:21 PM
We just need one merged thread were the truth comes out. TOR is not complete in what we, the consumer and avid game player, consider complete. The end game is 1 gear grind pin, with the hopes you will go into their open world Free For All PVP. Other than that small pin, I wouldn't even consider it a staple, you got 5 instanced pvp competitions to keep you going. As for any real beefy content, you just got quests with voice acting and a mini game in space. I don't consider this complete by any means, in fact it is worse than Eden Eternal, in which Eden Eternal has more content. Yes, I just compared the 2 because 1 has more content and is heavily korean cash shop, and the other is a empty skull with Star Wars written on it. I finally got a account to play on, as do several others in my household courtesy of some fine promotions. The game seems empty and INDIE-Like. In no way can I say this game being anything more than a simple overblow of Quests with Voices, and perhaps maybe throw in the hopes that your fantasy of being a Jedi or Sith take over for 3 months. All that aside, this game needs major updates. Instead of stappling turd content together, start by innovating off end game. We reach it fast, within a few days end game content is reached. We want more mini games. We want more end game raids, end game pvp. We want some sandbox options where even if the worlds are instanced, we can take over objectives and rule some part of the universe that others can come in and attack us for. We don't want fancy voice acting UNLESS you can deliver the basics first. Total time card I have for TOR is 60 days, and sadly I'll be done with it within 4 days. Pretending that their fail crafting and pvp systems are even worth it, it might extend its life into a grand total of 15 days for me. We got served on this one, with the exception that Bioware can pump out updates regularly to keep us appeased. We don't demand the moon, me and my friends only demand enough content to keep our imaginations entertained. Hell, even if it was just a mass assortment of mini game sto play and try that actually tied into the TOR world and lore, I could appease myself with them. Nope, we got 1 end game raid, and the hope that some sexy voice can appease the craving for me to all out decimate the scrubs that stand in my way. |
