FFXIV is the greatest game that I have played in my whole life
General Discussion « Final Fantasy XIV 9/27/10 1:23:40 PM
Graphically its beautiful, some nice ideas. Beta was a decent ride mixed with frustration and fun. In the end though its still the same horrid UI that ultimately made me quit FFXI. |

Dark Age of Camelot: What if... Dark Age of Camelot 2
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/10/10 10:18:46 PM
All i can say is, yes, hell yes. If they made a sequel, or whatever you want to call it. Another game like DAoC, with some changes of course, but keep the core elements that made DAoC great, I would play it. Hell, i'd give another 5 or 6 years of my life to the game. |

Are you trying to do this in "Don Control" ? Where you're overlooking the city? If possible you may want to possess or try to control the safe cracker. Or maybe he's just not skilled enough to open that particular safe. |

Either way I still stand by one of my older posts. I will still try Darkfall but I'm patient enough to wait for a US launch. If that day never comes, or comes at too late a date that I've lost interest, its just less money and one less player for them. |

I don't see this holding up in any sane and logical court system in the present day. |

Whoa, watch out Blizzard, I see some major competition there.
In all seriousness, I'm not gonna lie, I would probably try that game, just for kicks. Probably give me a good laugh just running through a few quests. |

Ahaha, i knew my name would catch up to me eventually. Can't help it, that was one of my favorite movies back in the day. Still have it too :P
Anyway as far as the release of a US Server, I heard it was supposed to be within the next month, I cannot confirm that. I agree it would be more worthwhile for them to open another EU server. I do hope they open an NA server though. It would be nice to try. I hope Aventurine as a company seriously branches out and gets help in transitioning and opening more servers. Seems they could have done things much better in that area. |

We know its coming, though I haven't heard an exact date, though its supposed to be within a month. A US Launch of Darkfall. A server located within th US, etc. More Digital Copies to go along with it. With that in mind, my question for my fellow North American gamers is will you try it? Or will most of you, that are eager to play it keep trying for a copy for the EU server? Those of you that were fortunate enough to get a copy and are now playing on the EU Server, but live in the US, will you stay there? Or will you reroll and play on the US server, for whatever reason. Maybe lower ping times, better population at peek times, etc.
Now as text can be ready many different ways I want to clarify that this is in no way a stab at anyone playing or anyone that wants to play but can't get their hands on a copy. I'm just trying to satisfy my own gamers curiosity. So before anyone flames me or warns me about the game or tries to convince me how great it is will say this. Regardless I will try it, it looks interesting. I will however wait for a US server/launch. If that fails to happen, there are other games out there. I'm just trying to get a feel for the numbers, how many North American people are interested in playing but willing to wait for the US launch. Thank you and happy gaming. |

Opening a USA Server and a fresh batch of DL copies by the end of March to beginning of April last I heard. Sounds like a good thing. I don't want to play on a EU server, i'm sleeping or at work when most of them are playing. |

The counter-views that has been torn to shreds time and time again? Yes, it seems like we need to do that again, as it seems it cannot be done enough.
Why don't you tell me why the PvP system is a failure? And before we start, what are we comparing it against in order to call it a failure? World of Warcraft? Warhammer? Both?
PVP System being a failure can tie into the class balance issue. Pretty awesome when you can be stealthed and take a pot shot on a guy before he knows where you are and kill him by the time he takes 5 steps towards you (95 more to go). Did I mention that unfortunate soul was a tank class? You can go on for ages arguing and defending the few things that were done right (assuming they worked and weren't bugged) and the things that completely destroy the game. AoC had as much potential to be an awesome game like Vanguard did. Great potential, great ideas/lore behind the games. Complete failures when looked at, comparing their good to bad. In the end with certain games the only people defending it will be the hardcore fans that seem to have unlimited cash to throw into these money pits. I'm in no way trying to say that every "successful" game out there like WoW and other well known MMOs are the top of their class and deserve the clouds to part, the sun to shine and trumpets to blast a resounding sound around the world but obviously those games, while not appealing to everyone are doing something right as they're still around and still going strong. There will always be games that fail and die, sometimes a slow painful death. Some that are mediocre and survive and milk as much money as they can. And then the well known, popular games that redefine the MMO world for their generation. Now I know i'll probably get flamed and it might be blasphemy to say it but how long until WoW is no longer on top? Eventually that game will dwindle and die as something new that offers a majority of the MMO populace something they want and holds their attention. When that happens as gamers we either adapt and find something else that appeals to us or you freak out and go live with the Amish. |

It has and hasn't changed. (DDO that is) Not all quests, but a good majority of them, especially the beginner quests - around the level 1-3 range do offer a "Solo" difficulty rather than the standard "Normal, Hard, and Elite" They've added quite a few new things since it was released of course but in the end it seems a lot of people still do what they did back then. Run the quest on Hard/Elite or quest chain for the better loot or quest reward. As well as to farm reputation for the Houses. |

I have to agree with both posts, about WoW and LOTRO as well. Keep in mind though that LOTRO Lore-Master while a "mage" i've never seen it described nor played as a straight DPS class. It has a lot of utility beyond DPS for crowd control. The Hunter is the class considered the "ranged dps" or it was the last time I played :P |

Vanguard has all those things, in a manner. It does depend when you last tried it. I know they've made some adjustments to the game as far as older systems being able to run it. In the end though I can't say for sure. I used to love the game, had great potential but I don't see it becomming the gem it could have been. All I can recommend is just get out there and try out those free trials or obtain a buddy key, maybe you'll find a hidden gem that you can get into. I'm actually in the same boat as you. I like PVP, so we're different when it comes to that but I haven't been able to find a game to cement me in my chair like they used to. Jumping between WoW, WAR, AoC, LOTRO and a few others, nothing can keep me for over a few months at a time before I need a month off. Good luck with your search, hope you find something you enjoy. |

Suggestions for a new game, <3 magic users and crafting..?
LFGame « General Discussion 2/19/09 12:28:30 PM
Nice post, very informative. I'll give you this advice, or anyone for that matter. Not just pretaining to LOTRO but any game. When you start that game, or any for that matter....take in what you want to get out of it. If you go into the game only worrying about XP and grinding it will more than likely end up dull and boring, like a job where YOU have to pay them. Take in the sights, the story, the lore of the world and get involved with the community. Makes any game that much more enjoyable. |
