Playstation 4 vs High End PC- Explain to a friend

You obviously take pride in being in the group of PC purists.
Consoles have their benefits over PCs, and PCs have their benefits over consoles. People like yourself also seem to assume there are two groups. Console gamers and PC gamers. And there must be a rift between the two.
However what folks like yourself don't seem to really realize, is that PC purists and console purists (both having a sort of herd mentality) are actually rare.
Most people are likely similar to me. Giving no thought to which is better. I'm writing this on my mid range PC I really like, and to my right across the room is a PS3 hooked up to the television I like to relax and sometimes play on during the evening.
Don't be part of the herd? I suggest you take your own advice. |

Playstation 4 vs High End PC- Explain to a friend
Hardware « General Discussion 5/11/13 5:46:12 PM
The PS4 is going to be more powerful than my PC.
Oh my PC suits me just fine. I can run everything (that I know off) on it, typically always on max or ultra graphics without any problem.
Yet the PS4 is going to outdo my PC, and I have no plans to do any more hardware upgrades to my system anytime in the foreseeable future. I certainly have a mid ranged PC. Now I could spend a good deal of money upgrading my system, even though so far I've seen no need to do so, or I could just buy a PS4 and enjoy a machine more powerful than my PC of which I spend a good deal of the day on.
Now the PS4 does not compare to a high end PC, however it should get the job done just fine and dandy. I've never quite understood how current gen systems even run the games they run with only 500mb or so of ram. So I suspect they'll work the same kind of magic with these next gen systems and get every last bit of power out of them they can.
However as usual, the PS4 is going to have a much larger games library than the PC will, and they're going to be a major bump in quality and graphics which I'm excited about. About half the games available on PC will be console ports. When you consider that, it suddenly doesn't matter all that much which is better. The unfortunate aspect of PC gaming, especially if you have a very high end PC is all that good hardware is not really being utilized by the developer nearly as much as it could be. Not even close because i said a good deal of games are console ports.
So in the end, besides the wonderful world of modding that benefits PC users, what difference does it really make?
As for your friend, he likely thinks this way because in the past, he would have been correct. For instance the last Xbox 360 and PS3 were superior to their PC counterparts at the time they released. It's always been a game of catch up. Console releases, and outdoes modern PCs at the time. Then PCs surpass the consoles during their generation. Then back and forth again. However this time it seems the PS4 isn't really trying to compete with the PC, because the gaming market has largely been won over by consoles. Which is a bit unfortunate, as a next gen console means developers try to get the most out of that console, meaning that the standard across the board is raised to that level, and that means better PC games whether ports or not. Regardless, I'm excited for the next console generation, for the same reason. It may not be as much of a boost to all gaming as it could have been, but it'll do. |

Yea I saw this trailer months ago. I too was blown away. Looked great. The trailer, the music, all of it was very different and very well done. Sometimes I go back and watch it just to smile at it. I don't know how good the game might be, but that trailer which showed nothing but game, was wonderful.

Ah yes. Welcome to mmorpgs OP. Hope you enjoy them.
They can be lots of fun, and don't forget to try to join a guild and make some friends. MMOs are always better that way.
Sorry you had to wait for it to install and update. That's just the way it is with these games most of the time. Hope you enjoy it though now that it's installed. |

Well OP, since you've seen a lot of hate threads and posts regarding Swtor I'm very sure they included what they hated about the game in the very rants you are referring to. Now you come here and want to know why? Basically asking for more.
I can't really see the point of thise thread at all.
You say you're tired of Swtor hate, then create a thread askying why people hate it, therefore inviting more of the same stuff you've already obviously been reading. What could possibly be the point of that? |

Can't figure out how to link accounts. Please help....

Some of my tickets were answered. Apparently if you clean the cookies and all that, it should work, and it did! And I tried to link it up! And I filled out my Perfect World info! And I never got my confirmation e-mail meaning I can now do nothing!
So I sent in ANOTHER ticket. This was the third one btw. So now I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Yea I wouldnt really mind loosing a character at all. Its not that. Its the stuff I had unlocked on the account I want. The uniforms and other stuff I had. Its not the character I worry about. Its the unlocked stuff I want on my account. So yea. : )
Anyways I've never had to send in a support ticket before I've even started playing a game. And this makes THREE and still not done. You know I think Perfect World just might want to work on their friggin set up a little bit. Man alive...... |

Diablo 3: Blizzard Releases 'Sizzle' Trailer for PS3 Play

Basically, a short answer to your question is because I'm currently playing something else and haven't gotten around to AC3 yet. However Diablo 3 for PS3? There are dozens of games I still don't have for the system I would pick up long before I'd even consider D3 if ever. So no, it was hardly a knee jerk reaciton. |

Can't figure out how to link accounts. Please help....
General Discussion « Star Trek Online 3/22/13 5:44:12 PM
Having not played STO since about 2 months after release, I'm desperately trying to figure out how to link my old Cryptic account with a new (yet to be made) Perfect World account.
I found this...... https://support.perfectworld.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4134
Which kindly tells me this..... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For a CRYPTIC account with no existing PERFECT WORLD account:
NOTE: Once the accounts are linked, you will need to use your Perfect World user name and password to log in. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- However, that information doesn't seem to be correct. When I click on the "Register/Login" if I do enter my Cryptic name and password it does not accept it and wants instead a Perfect World account name and password I do not yet have. There is no option to " Click 'NO' when asked if you have an existing Perfect World account" . I did confirm I do indeed have a working Cryptic account, but how do I link it up with Perfect Worlds? I'm hesitant to make a Perfect World account, because I'd like to link it up with my Cryptic account as I create it. Finally I just sent in a support ticket which tells me they may have a reply in 3-4 days. I've scoured all over the site and spent the better part of 2 hours trying to figure out where the option is to link my Cryptic account with a perfect world account but I can find absolutely nothing. I worry about going ahead and creating a Perfect World account first. If I do that will I be able to link my Cryptic account with it after? I'm very confused. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

Diablo 3: Blizzard Releases 'Sizzle' Trailer for PS3 Play
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/22/13 4:06:51 PM
I wonder how well this is really going to sell on that console.
There's just so many other games I'd rather be playing. I still have Assassins Creed 3 sitting over there and I haven't touched it. I'd rather play Boarderlands 2 than this stuff. Haven't picked that up.
I think a lot of gamers who own a PS3 are a little more used to more dynamic games than D3. Top down view, running around dungeons killing monsters in just a constant hack and slash is something that really doesn't begin to compare with a host of better games with open worlds, 3D environments and engaging stories on the system. |

Do LFG System really ruin the community?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/14/13 1:25:41 AM
I've never understood the argument that it ruins a community. In fact it seems like incredibly backward logic to me.
If anything I'd assume anything that makes it easier to unite with other players would actually bring the community together. Not apart. It's like arguing that a GPS makes it harder to reach your destination.
Sometimes I just don't understand where people are coming from. A lot of the time actually. The obviously intelligent folks that make concrete, well thought out points? I think I get them most of the time even if I don't always agree with them. Then there are the other folks. |

Your point is now dead. You're welcome. |

You can also go here, and create a thread on your issue being as descriptive as possible WITHOUT giving any account information. Do not do that. But you can say what your issues are, and the mod / manager / whatever very commonly replies to those threads and tells you where to go and exactly what you can do.
https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/support/account
Just log in with your account first on the login in the website. He may have suggestions that will allow you to get your situation fixed as fast as possible.
Sometimes accounts do get flagged as botting or some such for seemingly no reason. I've never had it happen to me, thank goodness. But I seriously do sympathize with your situation. I would be seriously ticked off myself. Just try to create a civil thread like you did here. You might get good advice very quickly.
EDIT: After your thread, that you've made with your problem, you can also go ahead and search through the forum there to see if this has been an issue before ( of course it has ). You might do so before posting your thread. But I'd personally do both. Anyways by doing that you might find the answer to your problem without having to get a response to your thread. |

I get this overwhelming urge to leave, but then I do something different and suddenly I'm having lots of fun again. I'm in a fun period right now, after sort of wanting to quit twice. |

A big doubt about MMORPG.COM Top Voted Games
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/01/13 2:33:30 AM
Well what's a better 5th or 6th place? Besides Rift? What would you put in 5th place and as an added challenge, 6th place (since I can only assume if Rift isnt good enough for 5th it may not be for 6th and 4th is right out.....).
Honest questions. I've never played Rift, but there's not a whole lot of really great mmos out. I'm not really surprised it is where it's at on the votes. But if you have better games you think are better suited for the slot I'd just be interested to see what people have to say..... |

Do you like F2P games? Then why do you like sub games? They're F2P babies. They'll just grow up, get all moody in their teenage years, and then become F2P.
Now Buy to Play? That's even more old fashioned. Now that, I'll do. |

I quit back in Burning Crusades.
I will never play it again. Every reason given in the video can be said by any fan of any mmo.
Yes people quit WoW. I did. I have friends that did and never looked back. WoW does what it trys to do pretty well. I'm not trying to knock it. But it's pretty bold to say people never really quit WoW. Do they have the record highest population ever? No. They've been loosing subs for years.
People do quit WoW. All the time, and in fact, never go back. I am one of them. |

And once again we see the true motivations of many open world PVP players. Consequence free ganking of players for their own chuckles and amusement.
Age of Wushu does have open world PVP. It's just not consequence free. Ganker......OWNED. Bam. Love it. |

A game like this shouldn't have a 15$ a month sub fee
General Discussion « Camelot Unchained 2/26/13 12:58:53 AM
Originally posted by General_Dru-Zod I can't speak for anyone else. But I'm not paying subs for games ever again.
I want to own the game I buy. I want to play it whenver I want. If I want to take a break for awhile I want to come back if I feel like it. I do this with every other kind of game I own. It's about value.
So I don't care how great a game is, I won't pay a monthly for a game I already paid for. I'm just not. Every game that tries a sub fee these days ends up being totally F2P months later.
So hold on now sub lovers. Is that what you want? Do you want to pay a sub for awhile just to see the game go totally F2P months later? Because none of you seem to like that, except it happens 90% of the time. The way I look at it, a sub game, is actually a soon to be F2P game. How's that for logic? Yea I know there's a few exceptions and there are. But the danger is still very much there.
I'm not a F2P guy. I'm a B2P guy. I want to pay an up front cost ( I dont care if its 80 or 100 bucks) and then I want to be able to play the game whenever I want. Period. |
