Not a huge CCP fan.

But as a vampire fan and a fan of Vampire : The Masquerade I'm extremely bummed.

Guess life goes on after all.  Pun intended.

It's a great game until it stops being a great game. I know that sounds stupid but you'll love the game for a few months then wake up one day and be like 'this sucks' and it never gets better again.

THIS ^^

You'll have a lot of fun at first, or you might.  It's a good game.  But after a couple of months there's not much to do, you've seen everything, and you'll have probably fully experienced everything you want to do with it.

It's a wonderful short term mmo experience.  You can also go back and play it later anytime you want as there is no sub fee.

This is also coming from a MAJOR GW2 fan back in the day.  But I have to admit I don't play it anymore and I thought I'd be playing it for a good long time.  I was wrong.

Glad you are enjoying it.  I had heard that the F2P design of the game was one of the most limited types anywhere.  So I've avoided it.  Are you paying for the game or just going F2P ?

In any case I won't tell you about the problems people such as myself saw in the game in the beginning.

I will offer one point of advice.  One of the worst things you can do when enjoying a game as much as you seem to be, is do what you just got done doing.  Going on a gaming forum and asking people what's wrong with it.  Even reading a forum can sometimes sour the experience as you might suddenly start noticing things wrong that you would have been happily oblivious to previously.

You might find out wonderful things regarding the game you might have never noticed, but I promise you, that people will reveal problems that might end up irking you after you realize they exist.  It's a double edged sword, and when I'm loving a game I always cautiously visit forums on it.  I want to be happy.  I want to enjoy it.  Ignorance is bliss.

Have you played GTA 4's multiplayer?  It is slightly more complex than Counter-Strike, but not by much.  I don't expect GTA 5 to include more advanced multiplayer than GTA 4.

Then you know absolutely nothing regarding GTA 5 Online.  You're just throwing a guess out in the air.

It's absolutely going to be nothing the same.  10 minutes of research would tell you that.

As for what the point of it is, as far as I can tell its to make money.  But more to the point, it's a sandbox.  You figure out your own objectives.  The online version offers a LOT of objectives.  The main purpose is to have fun playing with your friends in the game.  But we'll know for sure once Oct. 1st hits.

A fairly solid game.  Leveling is a good experience.  But I wouldn't expect to find longevity in it.  Most players seem to leave the game after a few months.

Once you hit end game you may discover that you are participating in one of the biggest theme parks ever invented.  It's literally like a carnival.  You need this currency to buy this, but this other currency to buy that!  Collect things!  Look at this new attraction over here, and now this other one over there!  Grind same mobs.  Dailies are pointless tasks that are more like jobs than actually anything else and most of the end game is just gimmicky as all get out.  I literally felt at end game, and logging in more recently that the game seems like a carnival mixed with a renaissance fair.

I feel GW2 is overly structured.  If you don't mind that it should serve you well, and it is lots of fun to play.

However I've finally reached the point I don't think I'll be playing mmo's until I see a more sandbox type game.  I want a world with amazing randomness in it.  I don't want to grind the same mobs for loot.  I don't even want to be able to tell what loot drops from what mob.  It should all be as random as possible.

MMO's have too much structure now days and it doesn't feel like an adventure because of it.  GW2 may be the worst I've ever seen regarding that.

BTW OP is trolling us. His opinion is OK but the whole "you are functionally retarded if you like GW2" part makes this a flame post. If this thread isn't locked by the time I post this I will be shocked!

Actually after reading through the thread again, this is an obvious troll post.  I only say so because the OP never gave a single reason he thought the game was childish in any way.  He never gave one example.  The insinuation that everyone who plays GW2 is either a child or immature is very clear here.

I think in the end it probably wasn't even worthy of response or discussion.

I play Eve and The Secret World. I see childish things in EQ2 but its not quite so rampant.  I guess people like playing games designed for 7 year olds.

I thought as much.  EvE and Secret World.   But when it comes to outright fantasy games, yea.  I suppose a lot of them could be somewhat construed as " childish " .

The game isn't designed for 7 year olds though.  They would have a seriously hard time figuring out.  Not that it's complex but it's far too complex for a 7 year old.  I know because I've raised them.  I doubt even my 10 year old could fully grasp all the mechanics of that game on his own.

I don't play it anymore.  But in comparison what's an mmo you like that you wouldn't consider childish?  I don't see much of a difference in childishness or maturity concerning most mmo's out there.  Particularly thinking of fantasy mmos.

That's crazy.  Might be good to contact them.

I play and even reinstalled just two days ago, and have absolutely no problems.  I also do regular virus scans.  I've never had any kind of problem with this game.

Do you use something like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for the adware, malware, etc scans? Regular AVs don't pick everything up just so you know (especially adware).

I typically do an Avast boot time scan.  About once a week.  That's the only way I scan.  Before Windows entirely loads it runs a long scan and it allows it to scan every single file.

No I don't use much of anything else.

I think I'm only beginning to really understand the economy of this game, and I've participated in it very little thus far.  It is very complex.  The last thing production in this game needs is more hassle on top of being already complex.

I think I could find myself eventually enjoying the complexity of the economic system.  But no one enjoys a hassle along with that.

So I'm in absolute agreement.  Good post.  I do hope you would at least post this over in the POBS  forums though.  So a developer might read it....maybe.  At least it's a chance.

That's crazy.  Might be good to contact them.

I do.

I'm 31 years old.

I like Pirates of the Burning Sea, Star Trek Online, GW2 (or I used to), World of Tanks, and World of Planes.

Have a good deal of fun in all of them.  My best friend from way back in college likes some of them too, and we play together some when we both have time.  I've also paid for games or paid monthlies.  However I didn't see a great divide in entertainment value between the two ( F2P and monthly ).

I do like there are games I can download that day, and dive into without paying a red cent.  Once upon a time, that wasn't even a daydream.  It just wasn't a thing.  So it's pretty cool as far as I'm concerned.  No harm in it.

I always thought pretty much the same thing when I played it.  It seems to suit some people just fine, but I know exactly what you mean.

Consoles are for the sheep.  Do you want to be part of the herd?

How ridiculous.  Consoles are a gaming platform that's relatively cheap compared to building a PC.  It has nothing to do with pack mentality.  The very fact you attribute it to that makes me wonder if you have a sort of pack herd mentality yourself regarding PCs.  You wouldn't be alone.  Most people feel the need to be part of a group.  You obviously take pride in being in the group of PC purists.

Consoles have their benefits over PCs, and PCs have their benefits over consoles.  People like yourself also seem to assume there are two groups.  Console gamers and PC gamers.  And there must be a rift between the two.

However what folks like yourself don't seem to really realize, is that PC purists and console purists (both having a sort of herd mentality) are actually rare.

Most people are likely similar to me.  Giving no thought to which is better.  I'm writing this on my mid range PC I really like, and to my right across the room is a PS3 hooked up to the television I like to relax and sometimes play on during the evening.

Don't be part of the herd?  I suggest you take your own advice.

The PS4 is going to be more powerful than my PC.

Oh my PC suits me just fine.  I can run everything (that I know off) on it, typically always on max or ultra graphics without any problem.

Yet the PS4 is going to outdo my PC, and I have no plans to do any more hardware upgrades to my system anytime in the foreseeable future.  I certainly have a mid ranged PC.  Now I could spend a good deal of money upgrading my system, even though so far I've seen no need to do so, or I could just buy a PS4 and enjoy a machine more powerful than my PC of which I spend a good deal of the day on.

Now the PS4 does not compare to a high end PC, however it should get the job done just fine and dandy.  I've never quite understood how current gen systems even run the games they run with only 500mb or so of ram.  So I suspect they'll work the same kind of magic with these next gen systems and get every last bit of power out of them they can.

However as usual, the PS4 is going to have a much larger games library than the PC will, and they're going to be a major bump in quality and graphics which I'm excited about.  About half the games available on PC will be console ports.  When you consider that, it suddenly doesn't matter all that much which is better.   The unfortunate aspect of PC gaming, especially if you have a very high end PC is all that good hardware is not really being utilized by the developer nearly as much as it could be.  Not even close because i said a good deal of games are console ports.

So in the end, besides the wonderful world of modding that benefits PC users, what difference does it really make?

As for your friend, he likely thinks this way because in the past, he would have been correct.  For instance the last Xbox 360 and PS3 were superior to their PC counterparts at the time they released.  It's always been a game of catch up.  Console releases, and outdoes modern PCs at the time.  Then PCs surpass the consoles during their generation.  Then back and forth again.  However this time it seems the PS4 isn't really trying to compete with the PC, because the gaming market has largely been won over by consoles.  Which is a bit unfortunate, as a next gen console means developers try to get the most out of that console, meaning that the standard across the board is raised to that level, and that means better PC games whether ports or not.  Regardless, I'm excited for the next console generation, for the same reason.  It may not be as much of a boost to all gaming as it could have been, but it'll do.

Yea I saw this trailer months ago.  I too was blown away.  Looked great.  The trailer, the music, all of it was very different and very well done.  Sometimes I go back and watch it just to smile at it.  I don't know how good the game might be, but that trailer which showed nothing but game, was wonderful.

Ah yes.  Welcome to mmorpgs OP.  Hope you enjoy them.

They can be lots of fun, and don't forget to try to join a guild and make some friends.  MMOs are always better that way.

Sorry you had to wait for it to install and update.  That's just the way it is with these games most of the time.  Hope you enjoy it though now that it's installed.

Well OP, since you've seen a lot of hate threads and posts regarding Swtor I'm very sure they included what they hated about the game in the very rants you are referring to.  Now you come here and want to know why?  Basically asking for more.

I can't really see the point of thise thread at all.

You say you're tired of Swtor hate, then create a thread askying why people hate it, therefore inviting more of the same stuff you've already obviously been reading.  What could possibly be the point of that?

Thankfully I hadn't gotten very far level wise on my old cryptic account so it wasn't much of a loss to just create a new PW account and download the game. But it would have sucked if I had a top level character that had to be redone again. Hope you are able to get it worked out.

Well thanks.  I appreciate the empathy.

Some of my tickets were answered.  Apparently if you clean the cookies and all that, it should work, and it did!  And I tried to link it up!  And I filled out my Perfect World info!  And I never got my confirmation e-mail meaning I can now do nothing!

So I sent in ANOTHER ticket.  This was the third one btw.  So now I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Yea I wouldnt really mind loosing a character at all.  Its not that.  Its the stuff I had unlocked on the account I want.  The uniforms and other stuff I had.  Its not the character I worry about.  Its the unlocked stuff I want on my account.  So yea.  : )

Anyways I've never had to send in a support ticket before I've even started playing a game.  And this makes THREE and still not done.  You know I think Perfect World just might want to work on their friggin set up a little bit.  Man alive......

I wonder how well this is really going to sell on that console.

There's just so many other games I'd rather be playing.  I still have Assassins Creed 3 sitting over there and I haven't touched it.  I'd rather play Boarderlands 2 than this stuff.  Haven't picked that up.

I think a lot of gamers who own a PS3 are a little more used to more dynamic games than D3.  Top down view, running around dungeons killing monsters in just a constant hack and slash is something that really doesn't begin to compare with a host of better games with open worlds, 3D environments and engaging stories on the system.

If there are so many other games you'd rather be playing then why is AC3 "sitting over there" untouched? Also, if you'd rather play Borderlands 2, then why haven't you picked it up? Sounds like you just had a knee jerk reaction here and posted without thinking it through.

Because I've been busy playing GW2 on my PC since Oct which was my birthday and then I got AC3 and a couple of other games for Christmas.  I'm getting a little tired of GW2 though so I've been thinking of playing AC3.

Basically, a short answer to your question is because I'm currently playing something else and haven't gotten around to AC3 yet.  However Diablo 3 for PS3?  There are dozens of games I still don't have for the system I would pick up long before I'd even consider D3 if ever.  So no, it was hardly a knee jerk reaciton.
