I applaud Ikonoclastia for posting about his experience in EVE, and his list of incident after incident of degenerate behavior that is taking place in EVE. He beat me to it in fact. But I wanted to make a new thread because I believe this warrants one.

I just left EVE this week after 10 months, completely fed up and tired of the harrassment that goes on day after day. If it isn't me, it's always someone else I know. And I kid you not... DAILY... and REGULARLY. It has gotten to the point where players literally log on for the sole reason to go grieve players.

I too have submitted a report of harrassment where a player targeted me and only logged onto his main to check out where i was and to see if I was vulnerable. He would go as much as 15 jumps to find me. Five weeks straight! And I'm a new player. And if he was contacted by EVE about the issue, clearly he didn't get the message.

The problem CCP refuses to deal with is that games need to evolve, and stubbornly hanging on to old ways of managing the game is killing it.  The "open sandbox" view may have once worked when the playing field was more leveled and the diversity of players was greater. But just as they "had hoped", the game has evolved by player participation. Unfortunately it has gone awry in a horrible way.  The bullies who have fun griefing players are staying, and the new gamers (to EVE, or even just to the world of gaming) give EVE a matter of a few months (even if that) before they leave in disgust at the cruelty and anti-social behavior displayed in front of their faces day after day.

What is ironic is that it is clear CCP is panicking over a shrinking player base. Look at the promotions. In addition to the extension of the 14-day trial to 21 days if you sign up through a buddy (thinking that a friend will help them through the game), there are rewards for those who bring back reactivated accounts, and a 6-month promotion for players who create a second account (the idea of double clienting was only recently approved by CCP-- no surprised there why they did that). They have initiatives having a GM personally contact every new player within the first day or two -- a real live responding GM. Talk about dedicating resources to trying to keep new players interested -- personal contact is expensive. I know. I worked for a big company at the highest level. There are workshops they offer to new players. There are links galore to places where new players can get information on how to get used to the game.

But CCP is barking up the wrong tree. New players -- the kind who will invest in a game like this -- will very quickly get over the steep learning curve of EVE. The challenge of manuevering through the UI and discovering the various kinds of roles EVE allows you to play is enough to keep them engaged. The complexity is an encouragement to stay, not a deterrent. And once in a real corp, they will settle in fast. So in my opinion CCP has got it all wrong. It's not that new players are not coming because of the complexity of the game. They are not STAYING because of the community experience.

The newest griefing trend is this ridiculous Alliance called CODE who is trying to take over high sec by ganking defenseless miners and forcing them into some sick kind of ideology where they are forced to not only comply to an individual's style of gameplay, but they are actually "commanded" not to complain when they get their ship blown up, looted, and then podded. If you want to take a look at some of the most twisted degenerate kinds of people who are enjoying EVE right now, go take a look at their website. minerbumping.com. (I'm sure they will love the press here). Calling players cancer and degenerates in public is not cool -- nor is it appropriate in any setting, including gaming. And since high sec is the home to EVERY new player in EVE, every single one (and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE) will come into contact with this alliance within the first month or two. This alliance is literally holding "fun" as hostage and trying to force players to only play the kind of EVE game that gives them fun. The message: "play EVE how we want or get the hell out of the game." They claim they are making the game better, but in real fact, they are destroying the game -- and CCP is letting them do it.

If you want to make a program to see how fast you can get rid of new players in the game, this is EXACTLY HOW TO DO IT. The young players of EVE have no chance to even enjoy the game because they are bumped up again these bullies (no pun intended) and told "you are not welcome here unless you do things our way." Really CCP? You want to relinquish that kind of control? Because you are basically letting the game dig its own grave. When unsupervised, this is where the human mind degrades into. Or do you not study the history of the world AT ALL?

CCP has got to wake up. When a problem interferes with societal growth and development, like gangs or hate-generating ideologies, something needs to do something about it at the authority level. Unfortunately, gamers don't campaign for a game they only play for a few months -- or even just a year. They simply leave, and never tell anyone why. After all, who wants to admit they are being vicitimized for fear of looking weak and pathetic.

I wish they would just take their Terms of Service and actually follow it for once. They are letting way to many people get away with things that are hurting the game.

If you still don't understand the effects of how this alliance represents the EVE players who are destroying the new player base, take a look at the Stanford Prison Experiment by Zimbardo. It's a famous experiment which demonstrates how role-playing can have serious psychological effects on its participants. Unlike the experiment, players in EVE who are griefed just leave  the sandbox. So its not loss to those players. The consequences of this fall entirely on CCP. And unless they sit up and pay attention, they can kiss their great game good-bye.

its called bad parenting not the mmo. kids these days are getting worst compared to when i first started playing mmo. i been gaming for a very very long time and it wasnt this bad. parents need to slap their kids now days since getting a timeout doesnt do anything anymore. i remember when i said something wrong i would get slapped so hard that my lips would bleed. but you know what it made me a better person.  blame the parents who doesnt watch over their kids when they play mmos. as for eve, eve online is never ever ever going to change because grieving is part of the game. havent you seen jita scamms and stuff. people play eve because its the only place where you can truly be free to do whatever you like, the sub isnt declining its growing slowly. even though i dont play eve no more i still love the freedom you can do in eve. if someone pisses you off u can grieve them until they quit. u know how many players in the game i wanted to punch in the throat for acting all tough behind their computers. well eve is the best place to do that and best part is u get kicks out of it

Also open world pvp in aow is more rewarding
This game has to many issues. Chat system is bad auto pathing is insane. Combat is clunky not to mention the combat in swordsman is easier compared to age of wushu. Everyone does auto lock so u dont miss skills but in aow its pure skills taichi sword taichi fist switching between styles in animation also the block system is alot more elite in aow compared to swordsman. Swordsman is nothing but another buton smashing downgraded version of aow. Its easy mode version of aow. Also p2w

i dont know if they allow crafting in that area then it probably will be full of crafters. but that segregates other players like dungeon raiders and such. it would be nice to have a populated area that u can call actual neighbors. i wonder how can u keep a housing area populated though besides having crafting area.

You can't rationalize peoples hate of this game. It doesn't matter what SWTOR does, haters are going to hate on it. Trying to explain why everything they do isn't bad in some way is just a waste of time.

This game should of had this in at launch, adding it now is long over due but good for the game all the same. Better late than never.

people has been asking for good open world pvp and not making the game pure arena grind. i dont know bout u but me and my guild has been grinding gear since release from the same arena over and over. on top of that the tier of gear upgrades so fast that u have to grind newer ones over again. i have no problem if gear was to be grinded but its no fun when u do the same arena over and over since launch and in the end there is no other way to grind pvp gear. shit i rather have them bring back illlum open world pvp instead of grinding for another gear in arena. atleast that was challenging. but here they release another type of wz that has no purpose. people has already asked GIVE US A GOOD OPEN WORLD PVP DAM BW

I don't do a lot of PvP but I know they have added a lot of PvP content. The last update they added new PvP stuff. So to say you have been playing the same PvP over and over is not true. So either you have not played in a long time or your just another hater posting on a game you don't play.

key word you don't do alot of pvp doing arenas over and over it bs. its the same thing over and over just diff objective. for you it may not be a bother since you a carebear, but as for pvpers such as myself and many others we want a reason to fight open world pvp. also did you bother to read my whole post. i clearly stated OPEN WORLD PVP IS WHAT THE AUDIENCE BEEN ASKING FOR NOT ARENA BS. we want another way of getting our gears we want to fight the imps not just to role play. we want to have objectives in open world pvp. illum had objectives illum was fun even when reps was outnumbered. so please before you post bout someone not playing the game for a while please read the full post. your response just made u sound like a fanboy protecting his video game

Settle down little buddy I didn't say anything about open world cause what you said was correct. You said running the same arenas over and over since launch which is incorrect. Not how that makes me a fanboi by calling out an inaccuracies in your post. They have added plenty of new PvP content. Open world PvP has been discussed many many times it will probably never happen the way you want it too.

u obviously havent played through the whole arena much then have u. tell me what is the goal for each arena arent they all similar. shit even ranked wz is similar. so my point exactly they are they same arena since launch just diff settings. i guess to a none pvper u wouldnt notice anything im speaking of but for someone who has grinded pvp gear since old school bm all the way to conqs its the same old arena protect flag or my fave football. its fun at times but doing it over and over and over and over and i forgot to say and over again is not fun at all. my point for my post is i will bet u if they added an open world pvp that had purpose to it i will bet u that people who left swtor will come back and people would enjoy it more, and 3 people would subscribe more. look at aion, aion pve sucks questing is old school but the open world pvp is fun as hell. the game is more alive then it was before due to how they changed open world pvp. they set up camps to each maps so there is a new form of rifting. they made it possible to where u can get diff pvp gears in a diff way. they have arenas for c2 pvp set and they have abyss gear which is the end game pvp gear that u get by killing lots of enemy players and doing sieges. they also implemented a camp weekly where u would have to take over camps to finish your weekly. dude the pvp is fun as fuck i just wish swtor would learn so we can move on about open world pvp issue and enjoy the game as its meant to be. swtor still has lots of potential and its still a young game. but at this point bw seems to not learn at all what they really need to do. this space combat isnt going to do much because there is no real purpose to it. u know why i say so? because 99% of the time everyone is on their toon not their ships :)

btw i just resubbed yesterday to find out that i was fucking bored in swtor -.- so wasted 15 buks >.<
i can already see it being a crap expansion. its just going to be another wz with star fox simulation implemented in it. god when are they adding meaning to open world pvp in swtor. screw it i wish they would bring swg back
well since no 1 has answered my question about ffxiv arrr yet and im suspended from aion online. anyone got a game they wanna recommend for me to play? was thinking of tsw or swtor. any opinions on both games.
ok so i got a question bout ffxiv arr. im an old ffxiv player and from what i remember during beta yoshi stated that we wouldnt have to buy the new ffxiv arr if you are a holder of the previous ffxiv. so im trying to figure out how to do this and download the game to try it if i would like it. i have played beta but beta is diff from release. my question is do i have to buy a new box to play the game or i could use my old account info to log into the game and start my trial there? please help me out
i will be leaving gw2 for ffxiv because in gw2 i felt there was really no purpose in my progression. while in ffxiv stuff i do matters. crafting for example and the auction house is a player based economy. of course one could get gear out of instances but crafting in ffxiv really adds to the flavor to the gameplay while in gw2 you cant make money out of crafting. but it's not only the crafting. the pve style of ffxiv and story line is insane compared to little gw2 pve contents. as for pvp would be nice if ffxiv did follow a rvr pvp system. wouldn't mind kicking those humans ass with my miqote or however u spell it.

the game has def improved from first time it was released. the game is alot more fun now and feels like an actual mmo. what i'm afraid of is the endgame content they have to offer. atm my goal is to farm me enough crystite to get me an lgv. but what happens after that? sure i could play the market system and craft me loads of armor and make some money out of it or finish the story line. but what happens after that.? the game over all starts you off running dynamic events all the way from beginning to end. i think sandbox features to build for open world pvp would fall nice into the whole environment of firefall.

building and upgrading your own base. having side defenses like turrets, cannons and nukes to attack opposing player based enemies. not to mention if they add a dynamic pvp event where chosens also attacks you at the same time while players do, it would make it really fun defending. you would really need an alliance system to pull off a full scale attack. anyways i love the pve aspect of firefall but it does get borring and people do burn through content alot faster then devs can develop them. so ya i hope they add sandbox features to the game and also hopefully allow you to create flying vehicles. i wouldn't mind having my own garage where i see all my vehicles are and custom work with them.

after playing ff since the patch, i have enjoyed my time. open beta broke the server but red 5 did their thing and fixed them. i'm actually impressed with how much it has improved. the game forces you to craft but i think they did that to make it more rewarding and that it didn't feel like you was just grinding for exp. the auction house is a nice way to finally make income so crafters and farmers both will make great profits. the lgv recipe is a nice addition because now it has given me a goal besides lvling my character to max. but even though i'm having fun right now i still feel that once you reach endgame it will be lacking. so far from what ive done is play all ares missions which i can easily solo with my bastion engineer and do the other dynamic events like tornadoes lgv crash thumpers and such. i've done all the stuff you can see on the map.

my bastion is almost nearing its cap and the only thing i can see myself really doing in endgame is making lots of cash, defending my towns, and craftng. other then that i don't see much else to do in endgame. i do fear for the future of firefall and i hope they do have a remedy for this issues asap because it takes people alot faster to burn through all that upgrades if they play it 24/7. oh and if i haven't mentioned i have been playing since the game was first released.

I understand they are in it to make money but after they screwed people who bought the CE and a year sub I havent played for a long while. However, yesterday I deceided to give it another shot. SWTOR is the worst f2p system I have seen. They give you quest rewards that you can not even use/open unless you are a sub. You can not show titles bags its rediculous.

that f2p is really like a unlimited trial with a limit of up to 50. i resubed a week ago and so far i do like the changes they made. illum is alot more diff, the whole game performance has increased  by 10 folds. as for the rise of the hutt cartell ending, i really love where it's heading to. i see a huge war coming in the future of swtor. open world pvp although it is still lacking, there is purpose to do them now. but ill say this if youa re to play swtor as f2p i suggest subbing, cause if you already have a lvl 50 char you wont really enjoy it in f2p model. only complaint i have now is republic community still lacks compared to imps, i wish they would find a solution to this, and second i feel that watchman sentinals got nerfed on their burns. i used to be able to dish out almost same amount of dps compared to combat, now combat rocks and i i had to respec lol. combat is fun i really like it now compared to old school. anyways guys give it a shot, and try it out for 1 month, but make sure you get rothc or else you wont enjoy makeb and the new features.

Also available is Defiance: Season Pass (PC Digital Download) for $28 - 20% off with voucher code GMG20-GGN5D-FC3NA = $22.40.

This was posted on Slickdeals yesterday so I'm not sure if it's still going or not as I don't normally use Green Man Gaming and following the link says it's $59.99.

is there any diff with the season pass?

If you click the links they will explain it but basically you have to buy the main game to gain access to the season pass which offers you the first 5 DLC's for the game at a discounted price by paying for them upfront before they are released.

so should i just buy the standard then so i can get access to all the content?

This was posted on Slickdeals yesterday so I'm not sure if it's still going or not as I don't normally use Green Man Gaming and following the link says it's $59.99.

If you like 3rd person shooters then its a great game. If you like mmos with a long term endgame then i would stay away.

how fast can u complete the overall game and be left with nothing but shadow wars?

there was a website i read somewhere that i can no longer find that some sites sell defiance for cheaper. was wondering where i could find this. also recommendations is it really worth getting?

If they released the game as it is now at launch the universe would have imploded.

First they wouldn't be able to hype up Open world PVP (No Ilum).

The would not be able to say class stories would be the game's future focus.

There would be riots in the streets if they launched the game with a subscription fee and a cash shop.

They wouldn't have sold any boxes, (especially collector's edition boxes) with its current payment model.

With its FTP option, a ton of people would have never subscribed at all.

Other then that, good plan.

yup, they would have failed even harder and faster

the lack of a proper space part would also be obvious

i don't know i just resubbed after leaving the game after 4 month release of the game.  i also bought the new patch rise of the hut cartel. going to see the big improvements people are talking about.
