EVE Online: The End of The Mittani Era
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/03/12 4:49:14 PM
Lets not pretend what he did was a good or socially acceptable thing, but I accept that his apology was real, personally. I know the guy, to some extent. I worked with him on the CSM and I genuinely believe he fumbled the ball and the price exacted for it is more than apt. He himself expressed regret and I honestly feel thats noble of him. My primary complaint, personally, was with the aformentioned witch-hunt that occured. |

EVE Online: The End of The Mittani Era
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/03/12 4:39:18 PM
Why do people think I'm conducting some sort of 'Mittani Apologism' here. I pointed out what he did was stupid and wrong, I also pointed out he apologised. The ultimate point I was trying to make was that by witch-hunting a person, our actions become as vile or worse than the actions of the original perpetrator. I think mob justice is ridiculous. |

EVE Online: Closing a Chapter
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/20/12 1:05:03 PM
I certainly wouldn't object to the occasional tl;dr here's whats going on in the south evemail. If you want to shoot me the occasional few lines about something to White Tree in game I'd certainly read it.
Edit: That goes for anyone else who reads this article too. If you have comments, suggestions or corrections you feel I should make, evemail is a great way of getting in touch with me. |

EVE Online: Closing a Chapter

Originally posted by Mors.Magne I pitty the loss of the XDeath bloc the same way you pitty the loss of a tree that has stood in your back yard since you were a child and was cut down. You'll get over it, it's not a 'deep emotional loss', so much as it's a large change that you weren't necessarily ready for and something that might take you a while to get used too. I know xDeath personally from our time on the CSM, and that's about as far as our relationship goes. I was also present for the fight for what was it, C-L? Or something. The system name escapes me, it was a good rumble, 1900+ in local.
Anyway, in the long term, change is good. It's good to see -A- get some long-coming revenge. I'd mourn -A-'s complete destruction the same way I'd mourn xDeath's. I have no vested interest in these blocs or alliances the same way I'd have no vested interest in the aformentioned tree, never the less, things change, you miss them, you move on. |

EVE Online: Closing a Chapter

Originally posted by Calfis I don't pretend to know the inner workings of the sister xDeath Alliances with 100% accuracy, and if I implied that I did I'm sorry. In addition to this, UAxDeath really was the top man for that bloc. And yes, Fayth IS a crown jewel of the south, the gas acquired from these regions is heavily controlled and managed, I lived down there for a while under that thumb and was ordered to not touch it for fear of punishment. And the point about AAA's capitalization seems like semantics.
Don't compare me to Riverini, I don't pretend to peddle ABSOLUTE TRUTHS about what is or is not happening, and I don't write like a 6 year old. Much of my information is acquired through diplomatic contacts, and a great amount of it is me merely pondering possibilities. Feel free to take what I write here with a pinch of skepticism, I can't be everywhere at once and I can't garentee you that 100% of what I say is going to be accurate in your eyes. This is an opinion piece, and don't have the resources necessary to become a human RSS feed for EVE Online news. |

But even then it favors the defender, as it is inherently designed to be that way. Fleet combat isn't so much about the blob as the makeup of the blob. 250 Maelstroms using Artillery have routinely shown to out-damage 250 Abaddons using Beams. But then again, should the FC muck it up it can easily go wrong. FCing a bloc-level fleet isn't just about mashing endless numbers towards a final goal, you do need to make tactical decisions. The idea that it simply requires 'brute force' is something that I can personally say isn't true. Now, to be fair - When an Alliance of 5000 comes down on an Alliance of 1000, sure, numbers are going to win out. But when two relatively equally matched entities come to blows it ultimately boils down to tactical decisions, leadership capability and all of the things that should matter. As for logistics, well, no Alliance could function without a complex logistical backbone? Surely? My Alliance alone uses 20 or so jump freighters to get its business done, and ferrys ships to the frone lines via Carriers. Deployment warfare is all about logistics. As for 0.0 being elitist, I can't speak for every Alliance but I know GSF, TEST and ESG all recruit day 1 newbies and train them on how to live and survive in nullsec. We don't have SP requirements, only requirements that people come from specific communities. No, not all Alliances can make the claim that they're actively attempting to bring day 1 players into nullsec, but some can. And nullsec players throw temper tantrums when the structure of their corner of the game is dictated by and changed by people who do not live in Nullsec and do not share the concerns of they have as players. In addition to this, the vast wealth of resources in EVE Online such as rare mineral moons come exclusively from nullsec. Nullsec, despite its relative size in terms of population - Dramatically shapes EVE Online in every imaginable way. |

And yes, I'm not a member of Goonswarm but I did participate in VFK. It was the most pressing and immediate event in the game with regards to the motions of the monstrous blocks that the game is famous for.
Don't worry folks, I'll be writting about much more in the future. Thankyou for the reads and the welcome to the MMORPG.com community! |
