Atm, WAR seems to have problem with ATI/AMD drivers. I am running it on a Q6600 ( OCed to 3.5ghz), 8gig ram, vista X64, 4870 X2 card; yet I still have to run it on medium setting ( with self spell effect only) or big RvR battles would turn into a slide show. I have heard folks reporting good frame rate with Nvidia cards. Mythic's game engine, in my opinion, had always been a hog, since the days of DAoC. The same rig which would run WoW @ max setting using only half of CPU power, struggled to run DAoC@ max setting. |

I don't know what people are crying about, but I have: - killed DOK, WE ...alone on my WH. Of course, I brought myself back many times and change strategy after gotten my a$$ handed to me by these guys. People just have to learn how to deal with certain situation and play the class to its fullest potential. Remember, your WH can debuff DOK's favors and it hurt them alot, so use that debuff whenever it becomes available; also, switching your bullet buff to the one that cut healing effectiveness would help. - played SM and I thought the class was very good. It has decent tanking and dps, whichever style you wanted to play. The problem is that most Order's healers are just plain sucked, and any tank without a healer is just a paper tiger because they have to get up close to the enemies to do the job. I had a WP in the group one time who didn't even know that he was the only class with healing in the party until everyone died and I asked why he didn't heal. Those are just few examples of how easy it is for folks to just complain to the dev instead of learning how to play the class to its fullest potential. I don't remember how many times I've seen WH chasing a guy , well within shooting range, half the zone then finally give up....I've seen tank being kited by a caster or archer for a long time without knowing how to snare them down or use their own snare removal skill to close the distance on them......Then I've seen super WH who can solo a chosen same lvl, killed him with 80% life left....It wasn't my WH, I am still learning on how did that WH do that.

"3) Your assumption that I don't have a real life job is very very short-minded and annoying." If you already have a job, find another one. Do it till you have only have about 15-20 hours max /week for personal entertainment. By then, any PvE will be fun. This is from my personal experiences. I haven't played WAR. However, WoW, to me, was the best PvE designed game and even it gets old after a while. So YES! its kind of weak to say that PvE is boring because it will get boring no matter what!!! |

"Pre NGE SWG PvE was extremely fun. Going out with your groups into the desert of Tatooine. Setting up camp and taking a rest with your group members while someone plays their instrument. Good times. DAoC PvE was awkwardly entertaining. UO PvE with my friends and raising the skills were fun. Doing quests in a straight linear path over and over = Not fun. Just my opinion. People can easily enjoy the PvE grind if the game makes it fun." By saying DAoc PVE was fun, it clearly shows that your opinions are very different compare to the large base of mmorpg players. May be it's time to take a break from games and get a real life job? |

Graphic was never close to the top of my list, but if one thinks these shots are pretty, one must had not seen much beauties lately. In fact, some of the old world of WOW can easily best these shots. Also, still that same big, fat, detail less way of art that they are using. It's getting old. Like Recant said, no improvement can be verified. Yawning! |

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning: Crafting Details
News Discussion « General Discussion 5/30/08 11:32:28 PM
Crafting in DAOC was truely a grinding process. But a Legendary crafter in DAOC is very worth while. Player's crafted items in DAOC were always on par with high quality drop items status wise, just doesn't have the nice look. It enables people who don't really care much about PVE can just level to max level, buy crafted items and be ready to compete with the other long time players in RVR. No need to spend long hours for months of PVE to get the right gears to PVP. This new crafting system in WAR sounds interesting. It sure takes off the grinding. But I question its usefulness. Please don't make it like WOW, where PVE drops are far better than anything a crafter can make. |

It seems to me like those who whine about stealth classes are those who never played one, and most likely they always pick a class with an "I win" button. I have played all different classes in both DAOC and WOW and I have to say, stealth classes requuired great skilled players to be good. If you get one shoted by any stealth class at the max level, you need to relearn how to play your toon right. And don't talk about BG situation because both DAOC and WOW are balanced for the end game, highest level, not the low level BGs. |

If armors and weapons system in WAR are like what in DAOC, it will be better than wow, as least from a PVP point of view. Because in DAOC, you can get cool drops ( glowy, nice art work etc) from PVE but theirs status are hardly much better than the stuffs that master crafters in game can craft. And plus, in DAOC, toons have a cap on statuses; i.e max strength @ max level is 300 from items. Therefore, everyone is force to customize and pick the best all around set ( max certain statuses for certain classes + max using class skills + max hits + max mana + max resists). At the end, it all comes down to players skill and team work. But you have a choice to PVE to make your toons looking really nice or just get crafted stuffs and be done with it. For me, I always got some crafted armors, dyed them black, get a pair of glowy weapons and go kill some enemies. We're talking about PVP centric here, screw PVE grind fest. Oh, and crafters can buy almost all ingridients from NPCs in DAOC. If WOW has a similar gears system, I will still be playing. It has nice classes, nice UI, nice environment, ok PVP, but its "required to PVE to be better grind fest" sucks big time. And crafting in WOW is a big joke. |
