You wouldn't be able to "complete" a real MMO. MMO's should never have an end game.  But I am old fashioned and havent caught up on the console themepark rts lobby games now being called MMO's.

Couple ways to fix this, make more land available, raise taxes a lot on second and third farms on the same account.

No, just no. I dont want to be punished for having multiple buildings that I actually use over those that just use tham as place holders. As time goes on I plan to go heavy into crafting and farming, I dont want dinged for taking part in the business aspect over the pvp/pirate aspect.

You stopped playing because you can't make a farm? There are other things to do in the game you know.

Well to be honest farming was one of their larger perks for playing AA. TO limit it so not everyone can have the equal chance to have one is kind of lame. Lot of space is being wasted by people plopping down farms, houses, and scarecrows in a not so organized way.  They should open up more spots, there is a lot of land not being used for anything, at least the players can use it for farms and homes.

Raising live stock, planting crops, owning your own farm, having people work for you, these are some (not all) of the things that got me interested in AA. Large world, somewhat sandbox style games, jail system were others. But all in all, lot of the space is already filled up in the safe zones.

But might not be so bad once a good bit of servers open up.

I want to target that healer an nuke his a ss down or land a CC on him.
Try doing that in bigger fights where AoE is spammed over and over as you cannot target anyone due to many people standing infront of that healer...
It promotes AoE and AOE only as has been proven by said 3 mmo's.

Tab Target remains the undisputed king of pvp on skill based combat in my humble opinion. :)

I played GW2, and i want to add that having a holy trinity in PvP adds so much more fun to the format. Find the healer, nuke it. target dps. Or have healers stay behind with casters, while melees go in front and grab attention. If there is one thing i dislike about GW2, and i really like that game even now, is the shallow PvP that centers around big blobs or "raiding guilds" that roam in trains smashing everything that moves without much strategy.

Trinity destroyed the fun, the fun comes from being anything and evrything you want in one small package, trying them all out, mix/match to find the best set up, and then seeing your creation in action. Trinity to me was the wrong direction from older games, it just made it more simpler, not better.

In SWG  it was pretty good, but in AA i can be almost anything all at the same time. That is the ticket, creates more strategy since no one person is tied into a single class. I love the fact I can be a archer, necro, and assassin all at the same time, or a warrior, cleric, rogue or any other combo i can think of.

Trinity is rock, paper, scissors and its horrible.

But to topic AA has some depth, needs a lot more to go. Some areas of the game lack it. Some areas has  way too much depth lol.  But its new and has huge potential. Most newer games released early doesnt even have a 10th of content this game has. SWTOR been out awhile and still a shell of a game mixing console rpg with online support, AA to me felt like a real MMORPG from the get go, spent my first hour just exploring the starting area, while in SWTOR i was on my 3rd planet by then lol. Not attacking SWTOR for those that like it, just my personal experience/feeling. AA feels larger to me, and I am finally happy with a new age MMO release. Something I havent been able to say in 5+ years.

Harvest from your mount.

Resources showing up on map or some indicator showing resources on the ground. Like in Rift. Only when you are like 5m away then a question mark shows up. Sucks trying to hunt down resources in such a large map.

More xp from harvesting, collecting, crafting, etc. 1-10 pts for each task, yet requires 10k pts to move up a tier (if i got that right).

I played Darkfall a couple months after it released.  I couldn't get out of the starting town without being ganked by some jerk who has nothing better to do than kill people who stood no chance of beating him.

I'm not asking for consentual PvP everywhere.  I simply want to be able to avoid it until I have reached a point in progression that puts me on an even playing field with everyone else.  At the very least, players should have to think of the consequences before ganking a helpless lowbie.

Games like DAOC and SWG were great for PvP.  I'm not a strictly-PvE player.  I just don't like when the two are mixed together so much that random jerks can be internet bullies without being punished for it.

After reading more of this thread, it seems the game might be worth a try, but I'm not dropping money on it until I try it.

Well to be fair, Darkfall is a heavy pvp game, it was designed to be like that. AA is not. Lot of sandbox games are not designed to be like that. I can think of several that have very little to no pvp what so ever. Themeparks have the same issues in some of their games. But Sandbox's always get slammed with that misconception and its not right. It more or less has to do with your community as well. Community can make or break even the best of games.

You get things in game with even higher points lol.

It is a norm for games to offer trinkets with stats to help boost early gaming at launch for pre-orders and packs.

+3/+5 is nothing, i thought it was way to low to be honest lol.

Almost everything you get in the packs you will out grow by the first 15-20 levels, which makes this a moot point.

Give me your address so I can send you a dictionary. You should start there, you basically destroyed the English language and thats probably why you are not in the position to be able to drop 150$ on something.

Nice troll post

Now back to AA alpha

This is why sandboxes really won't work to appeal to the masses. PvP is a HUGE part of the sandbox experience. Some build castles, others tear them down.

A very large portion of SWG's playerbase did not PvP and never had to be subjected to it.  PvP is not needed for a good sandbox at all.

Open world full loot pvp or anything in between is not a sandbox feature. Its a misconception by the misinformed. THere are many sandbox games without or with very limited pvp.

They use this as a scare tactic and in most sandbox games I rarely get ganked. Some people here act like they get beat on soon as they log in and the entire time they play lol.

As far as the labor points thing....

it is used as a buffer to keep people to a respectable pace in the game. This way those that have no commitments and can play 12 hours a day will not have a clear advantage over someone that can only play a few hours a day. You might even go so far as to say that ArcheAge is trying to put a healthy cap on gaming hours spent so that marathon gamers don't die due to forgetting to eat and drink something while playing for a marathon 3 day period.

I addressed this very thing that i don't believe this artificial cap is still an effective use of limiting and pacing gamers. Better to remove items from circulation instead of hamstringing people who want to craft at whatever pace they feel like. If i want to sit there and hack a damn tree for 12 hours i should be able to do whatever i please. Besides this artificial cap isn't going to successfully stop the flood of item thats will inevitably hit the market.

Sorry to disappoint  you, but labor point system combined with  random craft system of high lvl gear, does a great job with market. Even on most RU servers economy is quite healthy and market not flooded(though all the servers were heavily hit with dupes and other hacks).

Also hasnt been out long. Takes time to flood a market, as it takes time to level crafting in AA. But once its flooded, its the end of player driven economy. Has happened in many games themepark and sandbox. Going by previous games and experience of course, bu dont see how it would be different here.

I am glad crafting in this game is nothing like SWG, SWG felt more like a job and took hours and hours a day to make anything of any quality.   I do want crafting the best items to take time and be a challenge, but in SWG this left no time really for combat, unless of course you have no job or a life.

Although im not a huge fan of crafting being strictly RNG, it would be nice that some skill and certain resources would make better items as well.

I think you were doing it wrong in SWG.

I'd empty the relevant harvesters and load up the factories before I went to work., and I'd have lovely new items to sell when I got home again.

This, the only thing that took time was trying different stat resources to try to get the perfect stats on your items. First time I made quad 80 composite armor took me awhile to get the right resources for this. Once that was finished off to the factory. Resource management was a pain though, only stacking 100 at a time was horrid when you were a 4 time crafter with tons of resources and components lol. But factories and harvesters really made it easy. Running from node to node only getting 1-3 resources istn time consuming? lol I absolutely hate node farming, takes so much time and effort. I dont get peoples logic this day in age, will spend hours hunting nodes is ok though :)

No item decay? For real? In a sandbox? Trion better fix that one...

People need to get it through their skulls that aa is not a sandbox game and Jake has never claimed it is. Some sandbox features  but also theamepaek features hense the term sandpark-hybrid.

Some people need to get it through their skull's that item decay was also in older themeparks and isnt a sandbox only concept lol.

And the term sandpark is kind of stupid, i hear people calling it this all the time. A sandbox is wide open and allows everything in the game. A themepark limits everything. Sandbox games have quests, they have stories, Sandbox doesnt  = open world ffa pvp loot everything either.  I find it funny even though people claim its a sandpark game, they still want to remove all the "sand" from it, which is poor.

Having a player ran economy, which is a sandbox feature, can not work properly if items never leave the game. Hundreds of mmo's have had their entire economy destroyed due to this. There can never be a supply/demand portion to a game that has no way of removing items. Flooding a market and never having things go "poof" will never drive a player driven economy.

Take SWG as an example. Early crafting was worth while, sales, business aspect, customers, resource suppliers, and everything else was rampant and a true player driven economy. Once they took Item decay away and turned it into a loot based system almost all crafting was worthless and the player based economy died. Its was all about the price of loot after that.

NO!! that silver pack is pure scam but gold and archenum(or whatever that is) packs are perfectly fine and are great value for money.

Um no you dont, none of those trinkets help you in the slightest past level 10 lol. Its by far cheper to just buy the credits and pay for a 3 month sub. None of those items you get help you long term and majority of them are replaced by level 10 including gliders.

I can not believe the ammount of people that defend the price for digital trinkets.

150$ and you are not getting your monies worth, plain and simple.

11,500 credits you can just buy for the 75$.

The 3 months sub isnt 45$ (3x15$), its 14x3 = which is 42$. Longer sub = lower monthly cost.

The glider is mediocre at best and anyone can get one by level 10-15.

The armor outfit, not really important, as there will be tons of sets of costumes.

The cloak, +3 to stats. But how long will that last? Normally you replace these items pretty fast.

A title. which "trialblazer" seems pretty poor name for a high roller paying 150$.

6 boxes........... 6 boxes with .001% to get a mount, and usually offers garbage (see Rift).

None of this 150$ founders pack is worth the 150$.

I can pay 75$ for the credits, and 42$ for the 3 month sub and still get the rest of those items in game. And wont even pay close to what you did. Especially when they have sales on coins/credits and cheaper yearly subscription (Rift 12 months = 99$).

Should have been more worthwhile items in for 150. Like free home, lower rent items, something to help regen labour points faster or have more, extra bag space, personal banker, fast mount, etc that would actually help your game. THis is why its bad to just throw money at companies trying to milk you.

And I cn almost guarantee you there will be some beta or pre-launch packages with much better stuff in them. Seems thats the way of companies lately. Charge a lot for nothing, then come up new packages with more crap in them to try to get even more money, in the long run screw over the 150$ guys. And often cheaper than the original price.  Have seen this happen in a lot of games lately.

24/7 entertainment for less than 50 cents per day............ its the cheapest type of entertainment out there this day in age. Hell its the only thing that hasnt gone up in price 300% in the past decade lol.

You pay your internet bill and dont use it 24/7, you pay for insurance and dont use it 24/7, you pay for electricity and dont use it 24/7, i can name a thousand things you pay a flat rate for and never get your "monies" worth from it.

This is a poor excuse to hate a subscription style payment option.

I can name more things bad about F2P games then you can about subs ;) So many excuses, so many exaggerated examples, i just wish people would come out and truelly tell why they dont want to spend a dime to pay for something they use instead of trying to make the other option is the devil.

why should we care for what peoples spending own money ?

I think those who are complaining on how others spend money on this are just jealous that they can't. I mean why else would it matter to them how others spend their own money :P.

It promotes this idea that companies can charge an arm and leg to allow us to test their buggy software. It is even worse in this case when the game has already been released.

Anyone who buys into this idea is helping the downfall of all game genres.

The downfall to this genre came from sinlge player console junkies slowly stripping away everything MMO about a MMORPG. Almost every major feature of old school games were stripped away and left out, just offering boring, quick, and meaningless story lines and a shell of a world. Now these features are slowly making a retun, and AA offer a majority of what I enjoy in a MMO. I will support them, as long as they dont go to far with this and to a NGE/CU of SWG.

But I do understand where you are coming from, paying that much for digital trinkets that offer hardly anything to your account is bad business, and has gotten much worse. All these people justify it by what you get, but you never get what you pay for in a digital world lol. Im buying the 150$ one because......... well simply put...... i want to.

Im still reading up on it and ill make a decision later tonight. The 3 months, 11k coins, and glider mean nothing. I can simply get all that at a much cheaper prices. And dont forget about the sales coming up. Seems every major MMO always has a huge sale around beta and before release at a much cheaper price and with more goodies. I fear many that paid the 150$ early will be highly upset later on :/

So is there anyway I can get into one of the betas without paying $150 right now? I really want to check out the game and if I like it will drop the $50 on the cheap package but I like first hand experience with games before I drop that kind of money.  I tried checking out the RU server but it says I cant join in my area.

Anyway getting around this? Anything I can do besides just wait?

Wait until Beta release (June) and buy the cheaper silver package (49.99 i think).

Apply for alpha/beta testing.

Some have contests for free keys and packages every so often.

Buy/rent an Asian account, i think they are still doing that.

Ask a rich relative for some money, tell them its life or death

Hold up a bank, but I would advice against this as it is frowned upon by society and a felony

Buy a cheaper game or another F2P game until release.

Thank you.

Read his title :)

Any way to shrink or get rid of that map in the upper left corner, it is huge and takes up a lot of room lol. Other than that It wouldnt be to bad to get use to. It was one of the things i disliked about my time playing the Russian version.
