DICE moved focus from PC to meet release date, reveals GM
The DICE boss shared the news in the latest issue of PSM3, where he revealed that despite Battlefield 3 looking very much like a shooter designed for advanced PC hardware, the latter stages of Battlefield 3's construction lead on PS3 and Xbox 360 in order to meet release on time.
"We said originally that the PC was the lead SKU of the game, but in mid-production we switched to console as lead platform to make sure we could get all the versions done for release," Troedsson confirmed.
"Our ambition at DICE is to use the power of each individual platform to get the most out of the game," he added.
"In the case of the PS3... I understand that if you compare it to a high-end PC, it's not going to look as good. But if you compare it to other games on the PS3, including other games we've done previously, I have to say I'm very happy with how it looks.
"Hopefully people will agree when they look at it in the same way."

i agree graphics are better then consoles, but maps are designed with consoles in mind, reason is 64 players maps on few these maps are just not really in terms of balance or just overall not open enough, some maps like biggers ones caspian boarder are good, but 64 player metro or any of rush maps is when you notice its just a beyond a joke and can tell it was never intended for anymore then 32 players , and im a BF3 fanatic love that game
8 core cpu with 1.6ghz or 1.8ghz is not in same league as quad core at 3.8 or 4+ghz ,architecture on amd cpu's are badddddd they just don't even come close, mmo's are cpu depended enough said.
this has turned into console vs pc debate, and all i have to say is this, HD 7970 GHZ crossfired that means 2 of them, with intel quad core CPU , mine is i5 2500k OC to 4.5ghz , umm...... PS4 is 8 core? AMD cpu, and architecture of AMD CPU's are horrid , next is people are all suggesting performance going be 7870 or 7850 or GTX 660, let me just tell you this, compute power does not mean anything in gaming performance, now everyone know's its APU on 8core jagure CPU by AMD, and based on that, AMD GPU CGN architecture is good, on Desktop , but in APU form that completely different story, AMD GPU use
Now APU on ps4 in computer power as that's what we know is 1.84 tflops, in reality that just factor compute power, amount of texture units and compute units and rops ect are determined factor of performance of AMD GPU's.
So lets say it has HD7870 compute units but has HD 7850 texture units and possibly even lower ROP's then stand HD7850, more Texture units and ROP more heat its tends to produce, so reducing these down = less power draw and less heat. So what am i getting at?
Most likely the next gen console's are not as "good" as most people like to think, with out these factors performance of these console is still up in the air, and i can say this, as a PC hardware engineer , and CPU architecture engineer for IBM , the performance of ps4 is and will be better then xbox1 i can tell you that, due to GDDR5 .
But don't be thinking these console are at any league to PC's in last 2 or 3 or even 4 years, even x58 1366 is better then next gen consoles, CPU power is also big factor for mmo's not GPU power, AI and amount of players that on display are limited by amount of CPU power you got, in there no MMO can use GPU over CPU, it always been CPU over GPU and it will always belike that, with cloud or not CPU is huge factor of performance of MMO.
Now no next gen console stands a chance to PC not now not ever and only until tech reach's a wall. but were going in different direction were enthuist market will start see Dual socket motherboards cater for non server use and that will be in 2 years this will be mean 6+6 CPU = total of 12 cores hell single CPU can have 8 core and alot of threads for what i can remeber for ever 1 core there is 2 threads = threads are vitrual cores btw. for the X series CPU/MOBO

OpenGL with GPGPU is the future and future of GPU's

so, after doing lots reserch. reading up on valve use of openGl,
here is were it get's fun, OpenGL is already faster then Direct3D any microsoft API, openGl supports everything DX11 and older graphical features.
Now openGl will work with GPGPU, what is GPGPU? well, GPGPU is were most of what CPU does is ported to GPU instead of CPU. This is were it get's cool GPGPU is fast really fast, and OPENGL is faster then D3D so .. from what i said before, useing OpenGl with GPGPU would incresse magnatude in performance in game's, we are in era of bad optimized games this is a true fact, bad codeing bloated and all results in poor porfmance.
PS4 and next xbox will suport OpenGL 4.2 and have GPGPU intragration. so what does this mean? it means that visual of photorealstic graphics and pushing boundries are closer then ever before.(not with consoles but with PC)
If OpenGL is faster, why is DirectX still the predominant API? It isn’t because of image quality or features: OpenGL 4.0 has all of shaders and tessellators and widgets that DX has. It isn’t because of hardware support: All Nvidia and AMD graphics cards support the latest version of OpenGL along with DirectX.
Really, it all comes down to that crummy old thing we call the network effect — and, of course, monopolistic heft and marketing dollars. DirectX, because it has a cleaner API and better documentation, is easier to learn. More developers using DirectX = more DirectX games = better driver support. This is a vicious loop that again leads to more DX devs, more DX games, and better DX drivers/tools/documentation. Microsoft has relentlessly marketed DirectX, too — and who can forget the release of Windows Vista and Microsoft’s OpenGL smear campaign? Vista’s bundled version of OpenGL was completely crippled, forcing many devs to switch to DirectX.
now with that in mind you can see why, visuals are stagnated or slowed down more then what we think, in terms of raw performance photo realstic graphics is required 5 Teraflops of GPU power, now remeber GPGPU and openGL focus on GPU power unlike D3D, so teraflops is really what runs GPGPU and OpenGL more teraflops more framerate.
So another point to make out is this, OpenGl can run bloated codeing and not get effect by it as much as D3D does, it still gets effected in performance but not as much as d3d does, so with little more optimization on code would just incresse performance overall, but even with bad code your still getting some huge performance incresse, this wil mean you can still be a lazy developer and run game's 60+ fps super easly, VERYYY EASLY. this is future
now GPU future
Future of GPU's are 3 things, Multi GPU on one PCB and Arm proccesors and drivers for SLI/Crossfire
so il start with MultiGPU setups, now most of you go oh but the microshutter, well this is driver related issue, sooner or later single GPU dies will only go so far and minor tweaks to archutecture , so there is no doubt that MultiGPU configrations on one PCB will come as standard for high end GPU cards. but they will prep and work on SLI/crossfire issues to pretty much remove issues that we have today, like i said driver issues not hardware, its all software, and they just need to cater software with OpenGL, amd and NV are working hard on Sli and Crossfire issues and there is a reason MultGPU one PCB is were we be headed, but wait....
Arm proccesors, now this is cool, NV and AMD are looking at putting Arm proccesors in there GPU's , what does this mean?
pretty straight forward it's a CPU on GPU just like APU's but... it has it's own Chip/die that's has a pipelines directed to GPU, this will mean removeing microshutter issues and also be able to do some type of predicit frames before it happens, *(with software ) the gets arms the infomation and hold it for next command,(GPU also be getting commands from Motherboard CPU) remeber GPUGPU and opengl Less CPU involment more GPU) but wouldnt it be slow?
No... it be running on GDDR5+ 6 or 7 ect bandwith , think of like this Terga CPU on a GPU that has 2 GPU one PCB, Arm CPU will be a quad core with its own APU plus the Multi GPU setup this will be similar to Tri SLI setup but, it's not, APU in Arm CPU will be more or less help with buffering and offload simple visuals something like AA can be dedicated to APU of Arm CPU or anything for that matter maybe AI? . this is all driver related for this work effectly though, so this is were we are headed.
Mores law is dead with current way thing's are but GPU's still has mores laws.
if you find mistakes or issues with reading it please don't flame just pin point what i should do to fix it in presentation or spelling
The purpose of graphics is to enable gameplay--not to replace it.

i would like to say this, it's all wrong, what it come's down to is lazy development or lack of skills. Graphical features, are simple as on or off, let put it like this, if game uses DX11 API and uses alll graphical features, that DX11 offers it's up to consumer to cater performance of there pc, if one person has low end laptop, then he or she has the choice of lagg or high fps, for people that have high end desktops like my self, HD7970x2 Crossfired, then it’s simple as just ticken all graphical box's and maxing out the sliders .. it's not hard, all i'm saying is, none of this effect's anything, part from time, and optimization, and money, that is all. Todays mmo's can be fully graphical beast. and scale very well to lowering the demand.
What people need understand, is that CPU is mainly issue that MMO’s have problem’s with, they just can’t correctly get performance from CPU.
GPU has all grunt it’s just CPU, what needs to change is thing called GPGPU, were most of GPU is doing all work, and CPU only does requirments that’s needed by CPU, how it work’s is that GPU can do most of what CPU can do in terms of graphics, animation GFX lighting and ect.
But issue is that, they try to catar to low end hardware for masses were GPU is weaker then CPU. this has to change they need to idealy need to maximise GPGPU and CPU at same time were it’s option through interface is this PC low end or high end.
Then it will go OK! this PC is more CPU then GPU so we put configration for more CPU usage over GPU usage to compsate for low end GPU, for mid range system its simple as GPGPU and useing CPU to effeicently . then there is high end systems, that go OK GPGPU/CPU MAX . what people don’t know is gpgpu is just were most load is sent to GPU over the CPU, right. so idealy you have MORE CPU stuff sent to GPU. what this mean’s is that you can do both. sending everything to GPU and then sending rest of the features to CPU and then maximizeing the performance. it comes down to carefully picking what does best for what part of hardware GPU or CPU? then optimize it effectly. useing on the fly changes to way hardware works depending on demand of what is happening.
i know my spelling is not best, or anything but i'm trying my best to explain.
CHIP DESIGNER Nvidia has said that most of the outlandish performance increase figures touted by GPGPU vendors was down to poor original code rather than sheer brute force computing power provided by GPUs.
Both AMD and Nvidia have been using real-world code examples and projects to promote the performance of their respective GPGPU accelerators for years, but now it seems some of the eye popping figures including speed ups of 100x or 200x were not down to just the computing power of GPGPUs. Sumit Gupta, GM of Nvidia's Tesla business told The INQUIRER that such figures were generally down to starting with unoptimised CPU code.
During Intel's Xeon Phi pre-launch press conference call, the firm cast doubt on some of the orders of magnitude speed up claims that had been bandied about for years. Now Gupta told The INQUIRER that while those large speed ups did happen, it was possible because of poorly optimised code to begin with, thus the bar was set very low.
Gupta said, "Most of the time when you saw the 100x, 200x and larger numbers those came from universities. Nvidia may have taken university work and shown it and it has an 100x on it, but really most of those gains came from academic work. Typically we find when you investigate why someone got 100x [speed up] is because they didn't have good CPU code to begin with. When you investigate why they didn't have good CPU code you find that typically they are domain scienctists not computer science guys - biologists, chemists, physics - and they wrote some C code and it wasn't good on the CPU. It turns out most of those people find it easier to code in CUDA C or CUDA Fortran than they do to use MPI or Pthreads to go to multi-core CPUs, so CUDA programming for a GPU is easier than multi-core CPU programming."
then watch this
And the winner of the console wars is... PC???

^ this is important issue i have and ,my concerns are not added the more features for PC users peroid .closed hardware has its draw backs Crysis 3 just got out and its looks great but could be better but it comes down to really pushing the PC and not just bad devs crytek are not good its been proven that shitty coding is bad for PC, BUT developers now need to up there game due to fact that PS4 is more PC sooo if they cut corners on games its going be deemed unplayble or visualy crap compair to developers that do push limits. so only time will tell if they do start making visualy awsome games, but they cant just catar to console market they got look at PC and Push there hardware as well giving us more eye candy is very important for this step in next gen gaming, if they pull same BS stunt with current gen consoles then PC gaming will still have porting issues and gamers on pc will contuine to flame consoles and developers only careing for console market

the specs are 1.84 Teraflop/sec with AMD 8core prob @ 1.6 to 1.8GHZ using AMD CPU not the best.
on top of that if you wanna know what they really useing they are using GPGPU Tech to port most of graphics and AI or w.e they can to GPU and less on CPU also like point out GPU is infact a 7970M mobile it TDP is only 100W makeing it console friendly and its performance is between Dekstop HD 7850 to HD 7870. mid range graphics not bad but PC is still better GTX 580+ is roughly 25% better performance wise. if GPGPU tech is used then it be used on PC as well again produceing better visuals then Console even with last gen flag ship cards that alone means more CPU for other important things
also only 4 cores will be used for console for gaming and rest of 4 are used for back ground stuff such as downloads steaming share functions ect ect
So point is that it's a PC with no upgrade path Nvidia is already about to announce next gen GPU 700 Family they just realsed the Titan so not long now again furthur pushing PC ahead of Console we be looking at roughly 80 to 100% more GPU power also Point out if AMD CPU is what i said it is a simpe Intel 4 Core CPU @ 3.3+ GHZ from i5 or i7 fam sandybridge and ivrybridge is also more effective then mare 8 core low GHZ plus there is also overclocking on CPU such as i5 2500k Clocking 4,5GHZ easy.
one major plus for elder scroll online.

Well if we look at gameplay footage
there is signs of hero engine in the graphical layout and presentation. The game needs a graphical overall needs Bloom great AA and displacement mapping with higher res textures and better lighting ,lens flare and great shadows Fog shadows high densinty effects ambient occlusion and prob some form of motion blur. but asking all this froms teso... is too much reasons are well they only care about getting masses and not visuals
honestly they may be much work to do visualy but i has my doubts this game could be good if visuals are there i know graphics are not everything but ... elder scrolls games specialy skyrim are very nice visualy nothing from stoping them getting better visuals then skyrim it self... got rember skryim is blury and not very well polished could imagine if they pushed the boundrys visualy? they could... infact make it look better then skyrim like a moded version utlizitng DX11. its not hard just make it scable? don't cater to DX9 only start with DX10 and have DX11 Counterpart there both very similar and most cases dx11 is easy upgrade from 10, and why cater to dx9 ?? its bacome a more obselete now XP and most people have DX 10+ GPU even intregated stuff from AMD and Intel support Dx11 and 10 so... most people now are on vista+ and i been told vista supports DX11 now so...

look at STWOR and then Bioware prime example using a respected company turning it to crap and useing well known franchise starwars DUH!!!

Title says it all.. it's doomed to fail, a single player sandbox game turned into theme-park MMO with no sandbox element at all.. on top of that focus too much on pvp and not enough what Elder scrolls games are about. honestly graphics look crap to eastern mmo's, they have it right UE3+ engine is way to go then i'l be looking at teso if that was case and real combat.
This is another stwor stunt and another WoW clone, its very clear when CGI is all great and gameplay/combat looks stale. tab targeting combat its not actions or real it is tab targeting and i'm elder scrolls fan have been since forever this is really annoying me to no end.
that this game is hyped and hyped yet its all very obvious to peoples faces, that its not going be good at all just look at the information everything has been done before what makes you think this game be any different to rest of pile of crap MMO's been out? it just be shelved to corner and aged i'm sick of the same BS time and time same crap i'm over it western MMO's suck.
Don't get me wrong eastern are grind fest so they suck as well they all suck just SUCKY!. the whole gaming industry has turn into money grab fest they pulling Blizzard/Activation with CoD Franchise make same crap . im annoyed with TESO i'm annoyed with gaming industry and were its heading paying for DLC's LIKE WTF!!!! and asking for sub and then going f2p LIKE WHAT THE HELL~~~!~@#!@#
its clear its money grab and nothing more stop buying games and only buy the few gems that do make good games (witcher 2 anyone? the developer team for that game needs more credit ) . No more MMO's No MORE!! make a Good game or leave gaming industry.
This is my rant sorry for getting carried away

"We don't know specifics of the GPU, but with approaching 2 TFLOPS we're looking at a level of performance somewhere between a Radeon HD 7850 and 7870. The highest end PC GPUs are already faster than this, but the PS4's GPU is a lot faster than the PS3's RSX which was derived from NVIDIA's G70 architecture (used in the GeForce 7800 GTX, for example). "
The design of the Radeon 7900M series has its roots to the Pitcairn chip as found, for example, on the desktop Radeon HD 7870. The 7970M in particular is similar to its desktop 7870 counterpart with 1280 1D shader cores and 80 texture units, but has a core clock of only 850 MHz versus the 1000 MHz of the HD 7870. As a result, general performance of the HD 7970M is expected to lie somewhere between the 7850 and 7870 desktop Radeon cards.
Mod can move this to hardware section. My bad

i like that idea it could be a possible fix. also talked about best weapons aka your staff example i like idea being able change it also stats as well as this procs/reactive within balance of course thus why i said a point system were cap is 100 or w.e so that you change that stats to cater to player class and change the proc/reactives as new ones come out , just like guildwars 2 were most gear are balanced to same % but add different attributes to suit the player giving us control of it all as i said within balance at a cap , but cosmeticaly i would love it be very open as well so that i as crafter have distinctive desgn in my armors or weapons
Sorry my spelling is bad and grammar anyone is more then welcome to fix my post and spelling issues and grammar
If he is reading this then AWSOME i has few suggestions as a player that likes crafting
there must be a way for players to not just buy best and then forever keep it there must be some sort of cycle so that recuring customers had a specific blacksmith they go to for there gear.
Possible fix to this remove crafting level cap and contuine to bring in new mats to players to get, that get better and better and harder and harder this would be a huge leap in crafting and only best will be able get such resources. were there is a level but not a cap just forever incresseing were Quality keeps going and going but again don't want over powerd so this is another issue to my suggestion prehaps cosmeticaly they gett better and that armor smither is able have different stats using different mats that suits that player i'm not sure but yeh maybe have a cap but let us able to change the items stats within balance to suit the armor sets we are makeing and selling idealy i love fact of having templates and then choosen the dye and patten from loads to pick from then pick stats to the armor were there is max of what u can add goven by your crafting level lets say max point system were cap is 100 and that you can add 100 Point system to the armor and that stats that you add must total to 100
Str+50 and mix matching them to suit player needs
also like to be able to have join partnership like joint buisnnes with other crafters were we can create a store and shop and offer more goods and that we both benifit from it so that crafters can work together and also competion with others stores this will build a new era of crafting and selling
druing BW3 i was getting bad FPS .... was getting way better FPS druing First beta!!!!

anyone els noticed that game needs lot more omptimization? i was hoping for stable 60 Fps... i mean jeez.... its a GTX 580 its not a weak card..
