I cant say i m really surprised, in the mmo world things tend to take longer than the devs always think they will

I love the game, i was a huge d2 fan so there s really no way i wouldnt like it, and i think it will be a HUGE hit despite the sayings of the MMO community, but well diablo and d2 were always frown upon by the MMO community, much like Guild wars, and they were great games, and huge hits.

Let me post my opinion on those future games

WAR - Have my hopes on this one!

Darkfall - It will be one of two things, Vaporware, or a huge lie about the features and a huge flop in the end (DnL like)

Chronicles of Spellborn - Sounds good, huge character customization and a diferent combat sistem, looks interesting.

Age of Conan - I wish this one will be any good, but the devs of AO dont sit well with me... I just cant seem to trust them.

Pirates of the Burning Seas - Looks like a nice game, but i wonder about the success, there isnt such a big pirate lobby thing... time will tell i guess

Aion - that's prolly one of those games i m the least interested... nothing new, you can have wings and fly in CoH/V and if i want to play an asian grinder, i will play L2, why play pale imitations?

Fury - Well no PvE guildwars makes me wonder why should i play that game, when GW got it all + PvE

Am i the only one to think this whole thread doesnt make sense, since the game is far from being an FPS or an action oriented shooter, it is an mmorpg in the true meaning of the term, somewhat turn based...

In the exhibition hall, I jumped into a 7 on 7, playing a squishy mage on a floating shield. I had slows, dots, buffs, heals and I was targeted a lot. Gee... I wonder why. We went into a scenario with four capture points. We captured the first and the Greenskin team figured out where we were re-spawning. I kept trying to rally my team into going after the next objective instead of engaging the enemy to no avail. So I played support. Buff, slow, dot, heal, rumbled, re-spawn. Combat was fast, as was power regeneration.

I think the author was playing a magus, and thought she was with the order, and even worst... thought she was buffing and healing the order while actually debuffing and damaging them... No wonder the order won... and no she didnt win... she just thought she did... sigh

As for the Zealot, it’s another aggressive caster, but you rely more on buffs and debuffs, rather than the huge nukes and heals of the Shaman. Some people have been calling me out on describing the Zealot as a close combat career rather than a Ranged healer; all I’m going to say is…I’ve played the career, and according to the podcast description, Mythic’s own description of the career, and the answers I got at PAX, the Zealot is indeed a close combat aggressive support class. If that’s not good enough for you and you still insist on calling it a ranged healer, well…I don’t know what you want. If you try to cast your rituals at long range, people will simply run out of the circle. It’s as simple as that, and if you play without rituals, you’re seriously gimping yourself. -----------------------------

The 3 parts are linked at the top of this page. All very insightful reading.

QFT

Ppl dont seem to be reading the important part of the whole thread, so i just had to quote it!!! It's from someone who actually played a zealot...

and if you read the 2nd part of the link, the writer actually talks about all classes, and one of them is the Zealot.

SO THE ZEALOT IS A MELEE/HEALER!!!

This is taken from the 2nd part of the link above...

Zealot - Hands down, my favorite class not just in this game, but in any MMO from UO to date. We've all heard Mythic talk about how casters will be able to hold their own in melee, and I'm sure that like me, you've smiled politely while thinking to yourself "BS." However, 5 minutes into playing my level 21 Zealot, I had an epiphany - they're not just capable of holding their own in melee. They're bloody freaking good at it. I'm not talking about taking hits on the chin, ripping your opponents to shreds. That's far too simplistic. Zealots, on the other hand, are one of the most beautifully innovative and complex careers in recent memory. The Harbinger I was most fond of reduces all damage done by a whopping 25%. After that, I'd put down a ritual which debuffed opponents considerably. Predictably, a melee class would charge at me, and get hit with a debuff the second they entered the ritual circle. My own buff, a Mark of Chaos, boosts my fighting skills by a good amount. The speed with which I was able to drop enemies with auto-attack after my debuffs, buffs, and DoTs were stacked was pretty surprising. I barely even needed to heal. There were also some very powerful nukes (my eyes popped out of my skull when I saw the numbers on the Tier 3 morale ability for the zealot, I can't remember what it was called, but goddamn that thing was amazing), most of them in the Morale section. It's not that the Zealot is any better at melee combat than any other caster, but didn’t seem nearly as prone to interrupts. As of now, it's definitely my career of choice - hopefully Black Guard will be up to the task of luring me away once I get to try them out. If they end up being as cool as the Zealot, there's a good chance I'll be playing this game for years to come.

Hope it helped!

The really sad part is that it sets an example for Devs who try to do diferente games instead of always the same fantasy thingy... The game was pretty nice, low marketing and a no publicity launch took its toll on the game. A very Sad day for MMOs.

I would say we need a vampire/werewolf/ghost MMO from the Story teller setting from White Wolf;

and i would love to see a game in the dark world of Berzerk or Claymore manga/anime

Awesome we get buffs for having sex in the game. I dont need internet porn anymore.

And ppl said AoC would be "mature" since it got a M rating.... It's more like... All the teens come onboard... if they need to get that low to get the attention of the media.... i guess AoC isnt in a good shape...

What will they do next, put half naked chicks near the boots at conventions? oh wait.... (they already did)

I love your way of making up stuff Fion, if you ask anybody who played WAR at any show and ask them if it plays or look like WoW they will tell you it doesnt, and if you compare screenshots from one and the other, you can see huge diferences, just because they have similar settings doesnt mean they are the same...

The worst thing is, you will prolly be one of the firsts to play WAR and love it when it's released even while you kept trashing it.... hypocrisy ftw.

I'm hooked

Holy Crap!  The game I’ve been waiting for all my life!  Full looting?!  Why didn’t someone tell me this earlier.  That’s all you have to say.  Now I need a clan.  Any Alfar clans out there?

Hooked to what? To a website full of feature that look good on paper and nothing to show for it? Dark and Light also gave us an amazing list of feature and promises, as did Throne of Chaos (Mourning) and just check them out now... Don't get too excited... overexcitement leads to disappointment.

High elf swordmaster for me, first they look amazing, second, i had a high elf army and third, i cant wait to start slaughtering all the Drizzzzt, Drizzit, Drizzt1341 etc etc etc annoying ppl who cant even find a name for themselves

I think i read in some grab bag that there was no xbox360/PS3 version on the work for now.

High elves look sooo naff compared to Darks i wonder why would play them though.

I tried to understand that sentence but i will make a wild guess (feel free to correct me tho) that you think high elves look boring and who would play them, well i certainly will

Do you see any class from the other armies that can actually heal right of the bat? no, hell the Warrior Priest for example is more of a buffer than a healer, and he 's the empire healing class... Don't expect another "healing" class for the high elves.

I got a nice original idea... why don't you "gasp" read some books, some Anne McCaffrey, Robin Hobbs, Michael Moorcock, H.P. Lovecraft, etc etc etc, so many books, so little time...

People who rely on macros or questionable UIs to play a game are one of 2 things, lazy, or have physical/mental problems... you can say all you want about anyone being able to use those "free" programs to stay competitive, but in the end, we shouldnt have to.

People who rely on artificial games to play real life activities are lazy or have physical/mental problems... Heck if you use a computer to write words you're just a failure. If you even think about looking at a watch, boom loser! God forbid you actually get in a car to drive somewhere instead of walk!

Oh the irony... and then i was hoping to read something on topic... silly me...
My post was that everybody should be able to play the game on equal footing out of the box, and your post is a complete waste of space... If you feel that way, sell your house, your car, everything and give the money to an institution... hope you'll feel better about yourself.

The funny part is... all I did was rearrange what you said and embellished a bit. So cheers on self analysis!

Irony would be that you claimed people that use such things are lazy and mentally challenged when you yourself use such crutches (as exampled by your typing words on a puter!).

Cheers, hope to see ya in game and please play chaos!

Sorry, but life is far from being a game, and if you confuse the two, you have serious problems.

At least in oblivion enemies react to getting hit or blocked. Conan? Its like throwing a bunch of mindless robots that feel no pain into a skating rink (slippy slidin all the way).

You'll note, it's like this in EVERY MMOG. There are very good, technical reasons why you don't have the same kind of reactive animations in singleplayer or small-scale multiplayer games. I won't go into them, as they have been discussed on several pages of this very thread.

I really don't get why people knock AoC for not having much interaction between weapon and target when you go to just about any other MMOG (including WAR,) and mob and player are 5-10' apart, swinging like mad and not only are their attacks not even trying to look like they are hitting. You get a nice little particle flash and floaty damage numbers. Mobs don't even move when hit. Almost every single MMOG is like this for melee combat. So why do you expect AoC to be any different?

You'r kidding right? Look at CoH/CoV all their enemies react to you blasting them, they are thrown in the air, they bend under the pain and it's a 3 years old game...
