If SWG was such a great game prior to pre NGE. Why did the game fail so badly. Its not like SWG was a great game. It had lots of problems that needed to be fixed. You cant compare the 2 because they are not the same.

 

It didn't help really that SOE dropped wow in space onto an unsuspecting sandbox crowd whilst chasing WoW like numbers, thus going from 250k to 50k very fast, as the original players left but the WoW crowd carried on enjoying WoW and didn't switch to NGE.

If SWG was doing well they would have never considered the NGE in the first place.

Lets be honest. SWG was doomed do to failure and this is because SOE never fixed the problems prior to CU and NGE. I personally enjoyed SWG up too CU. But not once had SOE tried to address the problems with SWG. Personally SWG had the best crafting system of any game I have played. But thats was about it.

 

Actually SWG was doomed because it was released almost 12 months early, had ZERO content and didnt have any vehicles/mounts to get around the huge worlds. 

Oh and for $10  guess who was the boss of that game too ;)

No that's far too short! The dialogue should be at least twice as long as killing the womprat. Oh and you should have to trek 5 minutes across the desert to get to the little critter! I don't care about you or your wife or for a detailed explanantion of why your grandparents decided to be arable farmers in a friggin desert. Nor how the dog is off its food since your wife has been gone and that your hemaroids are playing up. 

SO you played a game where the whole emphasis was on deep story, and you were thinking it was something else?

He said he played only very little of Guild Wars, but if you feel going into hyperbolical rage mode I won't stop you.

In the past he's stated he was a very big fan of GW, and also couldnt wait for the release of GW2. Helps if you actually knew what you were talking about .

Actually it is the place since it ties in pretty nicely with all the "will it fail/succeed" threads.

The launcher is very sensitive. One of the good workarounds is try and take out a RAM stick or two. There have been reports that if there is any kind of problem with the ram, the launcher will just error out.   It's something that Bioware have said they are working on, and are redesigning the entire launcher to allow manual patching and less sensetive installation.

The company is not sued in EU. Regardless, I foresee the same lack NCsoft had on this issue as in the US, the land of lawsuits with a drop of a hat.

If they release the game in NA and the EU then yes, they can be sued. Especially since they have an NA office.

Firstly, the only people claiming that GW2 is considered the 'second coming' are the people who claim other people are saying it. Go ahead, find me one quote from anyone who said this and genuinly believed it (and not said as a sarcastic joke).

Second, everytime Arenanet have talked about something it's because it is finished and in the game. There is hundreds of hours of footage to back up each and everyone of their blog posts. Do you think it a coincidence that days before the press beta ends we get a blog post about WvW?

Third, why on earth do you think that this game had pvp simply tacked on as an afterthought? They're pressing this game to be an esport for goodness sake. There has been no indication during GW2's development cycle that it being tacked on is the case or are you just complaining that the pvp in this game isn't 'hardcore' enough for you. In which case I believe Darkfall is currently available.

Lastly, clearly you have completely misunderstood WvW. I'm not going to bother wasting any more time on you so I'm just going to suggest you try it out before you condemn it offhand. Just calling it "bullshit" after reading a single blog post? Way to show your maturity right there. :p

Instance

Definition: A segment of gameplay in MMORPGs in which players form a group together and enter a special area in the game world, usually through some type of portal. They are then essentially cut off from the rest of the gamers in that only people who are in the group when the group passes through the portal will be able to enter the dungeon with them. Other groups may enter the dungeon, but will not encounter the first group, hence they are in a different INSTANCE of the same dungeon.

Funny I played gw2 at gamescon and e3, and i'm singing it's praises all day long.  Best fun I've had in a long time.  Only thing that compares IMO is DAOC in it's hayday and the first few battlegrounds in warhammer (before the mid/end game horribleness)

I have no idea what dillusions you were under when playing then. The combat felt like oblivion and skyrim. That is, pretty damn terrible. 

I'm not saying it wont change by launch, but from what theyve shown so far, it wont be the amazing game the fanbois are making it out to be. The ONLY thing that stands out are there arent really any quests in the normal sense.
