OK thanks for the responses. Just RNG huh? That's a really fucking skewed RNG then, but fine. It is what it is. Ill just team up with a mage and tank type and we can trade gear drops we don't need.

And yea I know you can craft, don't wanna. But I will pay you to make me some gear though! So more profit for you Mr Crafter. Yay.

But seriously, had to check and make sure it wasn't just me. So thanks again for securing my sanity points.

Made three different Nightblades. Played quite a bit over the past few betas. I next to never get any medium armor. Its all Light and Heavy. Is there a secret to getting it to drop, because id really like to start skilling up my medium armor skills? Or is this artificial induced to make players trade and what not? Like maybe a Dragon Knight is getting all my medium armor and isnt getting any heavy? (Which Ill be able to do at release when Im with friends if that is what is happening).

This might seem silly but I honestly cant seem to get medium armor any other way then to sell all the heavy and light and buy the medium. And maybe this is there intent, but I couldn't find anything about it. Or I suppose I could be incredibly unlucky 3 beta weekends in a row?

If anyone knows whats going on please feel free to chime in.

I use motionjoy coupled with xpadder. Works well enough. There are plenty of other programs out there as well.
Very insightful. Thanks again guys!
This sounds like a PvP problem for stealthing. I really don't know anything firsthand about the game. But I was gonna give it a try as a stealther. I realize it being an MMO I cant just max stealth and sneak attack and 1 shot things with my bow. But does anyone have anything positive they can say about PvE and stealth? Is it even worth it? Because if the post above is any indication it sounds practically worthless and that Id be better off going a full on assault class. Like is there sneak attack? How effective is it? And for stealth can I sneak past enemies effectively in say a dungeon? What about the nightblade class? Does it have any special features that would make it any better at stealth than any other class? Thanks for the answers in advance.

Might I suggest supporting the Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Kickstarter campaign?

Its getting influence from FFXI, EQ and Vanguard, and is promising a return to a more old school feel and approach.

Check out their updates and see if this might fill that need. The combat update looked to be especially influenced by FFXI. And the Hero Essence seem to be similar to the Espers system from FFVI.

I know people aren't in love with crowdfunding or think its too far off. But consider this. If projects like this aren't funded outside of the big publishers. Then everything will just be different flavors of wow clones and FFA PvP sandboxes from now on.

Please check it out and help get this thing funded.

Hell Yes!! It doesnt have to be super punishing with death penalty but make it punishing to move outside of cities at least. See a wall of mobs 100 yards outside the city and you run through them like a dumbass then expect to die and have to fight your way back all over again..... hard fights not trash mobs that you wipe out in dozens in 15 secs.......
SotA: FV? I think that's about as close as it gets. The problem is they didn't make a fully 3D world. But it will have other players if you desire and many MMO elements including continued content through xpacs.

I do understand the OPS desire. Sometimes I want to solo high level content as well. Why not just play skyrim? Well I do but. I'd prefer a very large world with xpacs that never ends. That's the problem with single player games. You either beat the game and youre done or you run out of content and progression. MMOs don't really end.

Imagine your favorite sprpg. It's a great game but you capped level at 50 and beat all the main and side quests. Sure you could replay it but that's not really all that great. What if the devs released dlc that gave a new continent to explore, 100 new quests, a new main story arc, raised the level cap by 50 levels and made it every 3 months (yep I realize that's unrealistic timeframe). I'd totally pay a sub for that. Now add in the option to play with friends or strangers if ya want...... perfect. And this is not to say I'd always solo. Sometimes ya feel like playing with others.

of course sometimes you just want to play a group focused MMO.......
Havent heard anything about this game since what? July? Just curious. Is this vaporware or are they just being tight lipped? Website for the game is just a big screenshot no info. No updates. Anybody know?
No problem ^^

Im happy to dispel ignorance. FFXI wa also awesome to play on console........ though I will admit it was horrible on PC. So yes if a game is not made for both platforms in mind then it can be an issue. But as long as devs are smart about it then it can be done.

Many of the arguments I see against ganes on consoles dont seen legitimately pc vs console so much as it is personal opinion. Like graphics. Thats really a pesonal hang up. Now mouse aim vs analog stick aim is a legitimate issue. All other issues seem like non issues to me or are heavy with false info and misconceptions or just plain lies. Lies like skyrim playing differently on pc vs console. Graphics are better. But console isnt suoer easy mode...... dude must have been playing it on the lowest difficulty. Or maybe he was high?
I play ffxiv with gamepad. I play a pet class. I am able to comfortably use 32 skills ........and could do more if I needed......

Really this PC vs Console thing is just getting silly. Its going to happen. Deal with it. And just as an fyi. I can appreciate depth and complexity but not just for its own sake. If it over burdens or is not fun then that pretty much means a games purpose is to be different and complex. And not to be..... you know fun?

I do play games on PC but I prefer to play them on console when I can. Its not about graphics. Its about gameplay and fun. Some of the best times ive ever had playing games were old Nintendo games. Zelda. Mario. Metroid. None of which were overly complex or incredibly deep. But it was hella fun so who gives a fuck?

The only major disadvantage ive ever had in PvP using a gamepad against PC players is against mouse target. The amount of crying id here if more people on GW2 new they got beaten with a filthy gamepad user in PvP would be epic. That being said, if I want to play on gamepad against Kb and mouse in a FPS. Why do you care? You can get more wins to stroke your epeen. Games should be about fun and who are you to tell me what the "right" way to play is. My opinion is just as meaningless as yours.

IDK. I do have to question if some MMO players are real gamers or just philosophical forum dwelling psuedo gamers. I play all games on all systems and play quite a few on PCs. I do prefer gamepad but also play KB and mouse. To me its as natural to play games with KB and mouse as it would be to drive my car with kb and mouse. Just crazy and extremely unintuative and uncomfortable.

Anyways just lets ackolodge different people like different things and lets just get along and have fun playing games. Not bitching cuz the devs didnt cater to your specific tastes. In the words of elitist PC gamers: Learn to play.
LOL!!!!! This was best of show for E3..........This was th3 biggest sandbox ever?

This game is Gw2 combat meets minecraft with cartoony graphics. Im not going to say its terrible. But its just not that aweeome.

The explorer in me loves some of the concepts and I might have could looked past the graphics, if they had kept the trinity. Its not even so much the trinity as the fact I know they cant keep everything from turning into a massive zerg just like in GW2. Unless the balanced it very well and made it into a small group hub based mmo with zones and instanced. Then maybe they could stop the zergs, but the tradeoff would be losing seamless world.

Whatever. Could have been good. But they just had to take it a step to far. For what? The sake of being innovative for its own sake?

Guess ill wait for XIV for my theme park and PFO for my sandbox.
Thanks Ryan.

How can I raise my reputation back up if it gets real low if I decide to vo cleanse the world of evil doers?
If a high rep settlement associates with low rep outsiders does this effect their reputation?
Can a CE low rep player get high level training from a high rep settlement if he/she can convince the settlement or buy them off?

Im sorry I couldn't resist. LOL.

Im a lvl 50 alchemist and can confirm that alchemist will make the arcanist books. In the last beta I only had access to 1 or 2 low level book recipes, but I had them ^.^

Here, you can see the class required to repair it, which also means they make it:

http://xivdb.com/?item/2165/Pupil's-Leather-Grimoire

Well if you want to create real choice, then you have to make a lot of situational builds and/or create balanced unbalance.

Situational builds: mage type/build A is better for situation X and mage type/build B is better for situation Y. This promotes situational changes that make it where X dps in not always better than Y and Z. This is why I like FFXI and FFXIV. You aren't stuck with one class, so if you only like DPS then you could freely change to the dps that is most desired for that encounter, but not so great a gap in DPS classes that it would be mandatory. I could see people complaining about not wanting to be expected to level multiples of the same role. Or people who are altiholics hating it.

Balanced Unbalance: Basically rock, paper, scissors. For example: In most circumstances, heavy armor classes beat rogue classes, rogue classes beat mage classes and mage classes beat heavy armor classes. So while you could be a badass dps mage, youd almost always get your ass kicked by a rogue in 1 vs 1 PvE or PvP. Unless you are very lucky or the other player is a dumbass. Now doing it this way would either mean kind of undermining the trinity or just not have the trinity. And I can see people that love the trinity might hate this. Or just people complaining because they cant build an uber character, that will win in any situation (yep that's right it would require Team Work and class interactivity to survive, shocking I know).

Understand this. The difference between being a Gladiator and being a Paladin is only a matter of doing a handful of quests.

After that you can freely switch between the job or class, because they are in fact still the same class.

What this means is a lvl 30 PLD is also a lvl 30 GLD, a level 40 PLD is also a lvl 40 GLD, etc etc.

They level simultaneously! Leveling one also levels the other. So its win:win!

So there isn't really any reason not to have both, because its hardly much extra work to have both.

Two most common said words in a failed MMO:  End game.

Really? I could have sworn those 2 words were Sand box.

Anyone looking for the most common three words in a failed mmo? Free to Play

In all seriousness, I wish they had gone a different direction with the combat too. That being said, this game will not fail or got F2P. Now it may be true for some to say that the game didnt meet their expectations or requirements, but that doesnt mean other people dont like it or that it will fail to meet the minimum subs required to sustain. The story is awesome, the dungeon mechanics are very nice, and there will be plenty to do. You guys must not be familiair with SE MMOs either?.......... LMAO you wont be getting a relic in a month you silly things. the casual side of this game WILL be very casual including the leveling dungeons. The higher level dungeons, raids and other encounters will be hard and as they increas in level probably only for the elite. And by elite I mean godly geared FCs that know how to play 2-3 classes (at least) like rock stars. Mark my words some of it will be ragequit hard, and some people wont be able to handle it. and some people might get their feelings hurt and have to go to a f2p mmo so they can feel special again with handed out epics.

Now here are some true things about people who dont like the game:

You dont like the game for one of several reasons because the game doesnt fit what you need/like.  And its as simple as that! Maybe cuz its not a sandbox? or because its tab target, etc etc. There is nothing wrong with that. But that means JUST that. This in no way will be a WoW killer but you are dilluding yourself if you thiink SE isnt going to make a killing on this. Either that or you dont understand just how extreme the fan base is. Did you not see how many people stayed even durring 1.0?

Sorry about the cheap shot sandboxers, but you know as well as I do most sandboxes are just piss poor in implimintation (Partly imho because they always seem to be ffa pvp nightmares, and what the sandbox genre really needs is a AAA PvE title). Id like to say as much as I love giving sandboxes a hard time. I really do like some of them. I hope Everquest Next turns out to be all sandboxers and EQ fans hope. I myself am heavily invested (kickstarter) in Pathfinder Online. But hey I dont have a philosophy that didctates that an MMO should always be "this" way. Themepark, sandbox, doesnt matter. The only thing I see is fun or not fun.

I wont be sorry about the f2p comment though. Anyone who wont support a game simply because its got a sub is either a naive child or a cheap bastard. If a naive child at least you have an excuse. If a cheap bastard have no respect for you. YOU are ruining the genre by supporting the F2P frauds. Get a fucking job everything since the begining of time has always cost money. If you actually are too poor to P2P then find a different hobby. I already have to pay taxes to support the poor. I sure as hell dont want to support mmo welfare.
