To be blunt, one of you needs to grow a set and tell the guy to stop being such a prick.

Oh i dont know... the churches are always complaining not enough people attend, they should capitalise on this and organise theme paintball weekends, they should slip a little religion into it by having everyone chase a guy in a devil suit round the cloisters.

The attendees could all ride mounted Triceratops' and break for lunch to share some vegetarian buffet with a guy in a T-rex suit.

This thread is insanely chock full of 'teh win'.

One of the few MMO's I've never had a chance to try.

If anyone has a buddy key, I would be happy to put it to use :)

Ah GorkaMorka! I never actually played the TT games, but in my distant past I had a lodger who was a Games Workshop employee, he was a painter for the shop displays. Lost count of the times he was sent home with full armies to paint for a rush new product launch. Being handy with a brush I used to regularly help out just for fun and my favourite of all the sets i painted were GorkaMorka.

Loved the crazy Orc helicopters and battle carts, the machetes and huge bulky guns, so much fun to paint up. Though i still dont play i do still buy figures and paint them up for my son to play with.

Does SOE even have one competent person working for them anymore?

Yes.

I hear the janitor is top notch and keeps those offices sparkling and dust free

I spent the first 30 years of my life living near a known UFO 'hotspot' in the UK. It is the largest US military base, a tracking/listening station to be precise, in England (possibly Europe). For many years as a teen, if me and friends were at a loose end we would go out there at night and just hang out watching the skies above it and saw many strange lights whizzing about and changing angle very quickly performing most un-plane-like manoeuvres.

Pretty weird looking place to have sat on your doorstep as a kid (see below)

lol i live maybe 1 hours drive from there

If you get bored one night, drive out and take a look, though I do believe you cant get as close any more since the protesters upped their efforts and the base had some security alerts.

Ay up!

A Huddersfield lad eh? I currently live in Leeds, but my hometown was Harrogate. Good to see another member of the master race on the boards. The master race being.... Yorkshiremen, obviously.

I'll sithee!

Sorry to hear that Urdig, thats a crappy situation. If the associate she has known will back her up on the insult the woman made, she should drag that woman in front of her superior. If your girlfriend has an employment contract to hand, have a look through it, it should have some policy or guidelines on how to progress with disciplining the woman who racially insulted her.

Your girlfriend has a right not to have to put up with bigoted crap like that in the workplace, and if possible she should take it as far as she can to make sure it doesnt happen to her or anyone else.

If this was a reversed situation akon was a white guy and the guy that through the water bottle was black youd all be saying well its the black guys faught for throwing the water bottle. Like the kramer situation. It was the peoples fault for egging him on.

This has absolutely nothing to with skin colour whatsoever. If that is where this thread is heading, im out, Ive said more than enough to make my feelings about this obvious. I think what he did was wrong. And yes i do agree that security was severly lacking in handing the guy up onto the stage and not just escorting the guy out of the concert.

Its security's job, not his. And if true, I hope that band got called out as being as big an idiots as Akon is. In giving that kid 'what he deserved' he could have seriously injured some other poor kid or three in the crowd.

So are you tellin me if I throw a bottle at your head right now your going to go get security? No your going to take matters into your own hands unless your just a person who will let people beat the crap out of him/her and go tell someone because you cant take care of yourself. All im saying if you throw somthing at someone that is well bigger then you well i dont know expect them to i dont know THROW YOU OFF THE STAGE. or worse kick your a$$ to a bloody pulse. Its all cause and effect. I dont think if me and well i dont know the rock are kickin it and well im like F it and i throw a bottle at the rocks head hes not gonna react and well break mine off. If your going to do somthing you have to be able to back it up. if you cant you will just get beat up for not being able to back up your actions. This is the real world not some fairy tale where everyone runs to security to solve there problems. Get a clue!!!

I'm 37, Ive been attending gigs of all sorts since i was 15, I spent 2 years of my early 20's as a musician touring in the back of a van playing the roughest dives you have ever seen. I still have many friends in the management and tour management industry. I have more than a clue my friend.

I can assure you, if someone threw a plastic bottle (all glass items are banned at any gig BTW) near the Rock's head, the man has enough sense of perpspective to be profesional, let security handle it and avoid a public fiasco and/or lawsuit by throwing some kid around and possibly injuring some poor saps in the crowd. He wouldnt 'break your arm off' or beat your 'A$$ to a bloody pulse'. Catch the guy off duty in a quiet alley , maybe. But in front of cameras and an audience he would have more sense. I dont think i can think of a gig i havnt been too where something hasnt been thrown at the stage. Akon overstepped the line and endangered not only the kid he was throwing but others too.

Akon should have done what every other profesional artist of reasonable intelligence would do, let security handle it, bad mouth/ridicule the kid over the mic, and get on with his job.

And you do realise that trying to come across as a tough guy over the internet is pretty sad don't you?

Personally, security wouldn't have been fast enough to keep me from laying an ass wooping on David Lee Roth if he told the crowd he was going to F my girl.

Sure you would :), verbally embarrassing a kid like that is infinetly more reasonable than having a security guy pass him up to throw him off onto unsuspecting front row fans

Watch a video with kids stage diving, hell i did it myself as a teen (first generation :) ), and watch the kid hesitate for a few seconds to spot a  few people who can catch him, people who are prepared to do so because they know thats what he is going to do.

Jumping from a stage of your own volition, if you get hurt its your own stupid fault. Being physically hurled by the guy on stage into an unsuspecting crowd is very different.

I like both Rock and Rap/Hip-hop, its not about the music. I was equally if not even less impressed when one of motley crue beat a kid over the head with a guitar, and when axl rose hit a kid with a mike stand. Im judging the man by his actions, not the music, but I will admit I cant stand the crap he puts out.

Verbally admonishing a fan and threatening the chastity of his girlfriend is a long standing comeback to missile throwing and heckling. Whatever his talent, whatever style of music he plays, he overstepped the mark.

You may not have noticed in the second video the can or bottle that almost hit Akon in the head.  He asked who threw it and the kid that did was brought to the stage, and then thrown off it.

Considering that a lot of kids will rush a stage just to have things like that happen, or to jump off the stage themselves. I would have to say that he was very fortunate that Akon didn't have him removed from the show.

You may not appreaciate the music, but ask yourself how you would feel if you were on stage and some punk threw a bottle at you?

I give the man credit for keeping his cool.

Picking up a kid and bodily throwing him off stage isnt 'keeping his cool'. I've seen bands actually hit by bottles, not nearly miss them, and still the situation was handled by security, not the artist. If a kid gets on stage and hurls himself off into the crowd, thats their perogative and responsibility, but the guy shouldnt be picking people up and thowing them.

Sorry Rik, but all i see is a barely talented, over-hyped idiot throwing some kid around. Even if the 'throwee' was paid, im sure the person(s) he could have injured when he landed on them weren't.

And I've thought exactly the same thing when I've seen rock singers etc hitting kids with guitars and microphones. It's posturing, glorification of violence to massage his ego and enhance his 'street' persona, at the expense of another. Security are there to deal with kids throwing stuff, not the artist.

I remember seeing a bottle bounce off Dave Lee Roths head at a gig, he didnt attack him, he let security handle it and then assure the idiot that after the gig he would 'F**k his girlfriend'.

That's how a real rock/music star deals with it :)

What street persona? Its AKON he sings love/depressing songs. He doesn't have no gangsta appeal in any sense. He let akon throw him anyways, you think im a let akon pick me up then throw me HA i would get my a$$ back up and tackle his ass off the stage. But i do like how people who are talented and don't have a record deal bitch about someone else whos doing there thing. Akon isn't that bad of a singer IMO but im not buyin his CD's though so dont think im supporting him either. So to you he may be barely talented but where is he and where are you... yeah ill let that sink in.

I'm not comparing him to me, I'm comparing him to acts and individuals with real talent and ability. Performers who know its their job to entertain rather than do the security guys job. If it wasnt posturing, why did he feel the need to take of his vest to throw the kid? He was too busy trying to impress the little girls at the front with a six-pack and feigned macho bull to think about what he was doing. I'd be willing to bet his management weren't too impressed either, and I wager whatever law firm represents his label went pale.

Get yourself one of the big, floppy, feathered musketeer-style hats and camp it up a little. Complain about the smell of the warrior types and thow a bit of prose into your chat. I had a hoot doing that in Beta.

Oh and look down on every other class, remember, your an 'artiste' not a grunt :P

Die hard PvPer's really shouldnt knock the Monster play in LotRO, your'e only shooting yourself in the foot.

Not that I'm a die hard PvPer (I enjoy an equal amount of PvE and PvP; and in this case, LotRO provides me with the PvE, and I play another game to suit my PvP needs), but you lost me there? Why are die hard PvPers shooting themselves in the foot?

Simple...he's saying if there was no monster play, he would never have looked at pvp period. He is saying there are possibly many others being introduced to pvp who would have otherwised frowned upon it. This may lead to better pvp games coming out later if there is more support from the gaming community.
I doubt it will lead to better PvP games if they are going to be molded and implemented and bugged like PvM in LotRO. Sorry, I just couldn't resist this one
Aye, bit of a cheap shot, but I understand how it was irresistable :D

LotRO is attracting many new players to the MMO genre due to the IP, for these players it will be their first exposure to PvP in an online RPG. I, even as a 'dyed in the wool' PVE player, found MPvP very exciting and fun, and like i said in my post, its actually got me looking at up and coming PVP games for the first time in nearly 8 years.

Purely PvP MMO's are thin on the ground (numerous forum posts by homeless PvP'ers support this). More interest in PvP due to the 'PvP-lite' in LoTR might suggest to developers that a 'hardcore' game just might be profitable and therefore worth investing in.

You see, when PvPers stop all the posturing and 'carebear' labelling, they actually have my support. Anything that encourages new/PVE players to dip their toe in the PvP water shouldnt be looked down upon by the wise PvPer, it just might result in producing a successful new game for our 'hardcore' brothers :)
