How do i tell him/her? (help rikimaru)
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 6/09/07 3:20:36 PM
To be blunt, one of you needs to grow a set and tell the guy to stop being such a prick.

Oh i dont know... the churches are always complaining not enough people attend, they should capitalise on this and organise theme paintball weekends, they should slip a little religion into it by having everyone chase a guy in a devil suit round the cloisters. The attendees could all ride mounted Triceratops' and break for lunch to share some vegetarian buffet with a guy in a T-rex suit. |

Follow The White Rabbit Buddy Key Trial v3.0
The Construct (General) « The Matrix Online 6/08/07 12:54:27 PM
One of the few MMO's I've never had a chance to try. If anyone has a buddy key, I would be happy to put it to use :) |

Ah GorkaMorka! I never actually played the TT games, but in my distant past I had a lodger who was a Games Workshop employee, he was a painter for the shop displays. Lost count of the times he was sent home with full armies to paint for a rush new product launch. Being handy with a brush I used to regularly help out just for fun and my favourite of all the sets i painted were GorkaMorka. Loved the crazy Orc helicopters and battle carts, the machetes and huge bulky guns, so much fun to paint up. Though i still dont play i do still buy figures and paint them up for my son to play with. |

Does SOE even have one competent person working for them anymore?

Does SOE even have one competent person working for them anymore? Yes. I hear the janitor is top notch and keeps those offices sparkling and dust free |

I'll sithee! |

So my girlfriend just called from work upset.
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 6/05/07 12:21:16 PM
Sorry to hear that Urdig, thats a crappy situation. If the associate she has known will back her up on the insult the woman made, she should drag that woman in front of her superior. If your girlfriend has an employment contract to hand, have a look through it, it should have some policy or guidelines on how to progress with disciplining the woman who racially insulted her. Your girlfriend has a right not to have to put up with bigoted crap like that in the workplace, and if possible she should take it as far as she can to make sure it doesnt happen to her or anyone else. |

If that is where this thread is heading, im out, Ive said more than enough to make my feelings about this obvious. I think what he did was wrong. And yes i do agree that security was severly lacking in handing the guy up onto the stage and not just escorting the guy out of the concert. |

I can assure you, if someone threw a plastic bottle (all glass items are banned at any gig BTW) near the Rock's head, the man has enough sense of perpspective to be profesional, let security handle it and avoid a public fiasco and/or lawsuit by throwing some kid around and possibly injuring some poor saps in the crowd. He wouldnt 'break your arm off' or beat your 'A$$ to a bloody pulse'. Catch the guy off duty in a quiet alley , maybe. But in front of cameras and an audience he would have more sense. I dont think i can think of a gig i havnt been too where something hasnt been thrown at the stage. Akon overstepped the line and endangered not only the kid he was throwing but others too. Akon should have done what every other profesional artist of reasonable intelligence would do, let security handle it, bad mouth/ridicule the kid over the mic, and get on with his job. And you do realise that trying to come across as a tough guy over the internet is pretty sad don't you? |

Originally posted by sctt888 Its security's job, not his. And if true, I hope that band got called out as being as big an idiots as Akon is. In giving that kid 'what he deserved' he could have seriously injured some other poor kid or three in the crowd. |

Watch a video with kids stage diving, hell i did it myself as a teen (first generation :) ), and watch the kid hesitate for a few seconds to spot a few people who can catch him, people who are prepared to do so because they know thats what he is going to do. Jumping from a stage of your own volition, if you get hurt its your own stupid fault. Being physically hurled by the guy on stage into an unsuspecting crowd is very different. |

I like both Rock and Rap/Hip-hop, its not about the music. I was equally if not even less impressed when one of motley crue beat a kid over the head with a guitar, and when axl rose hit a kid with a mike stand. Im judging the man by his actions, not the music, but I will admit I cant stand the crap he puts out. Verbally admonishing a fan and threatening the chastity of his girlfriend is a long standing comeback to missile throwing and heckling. Whatever his talent, whatever style of music he plays, he overstepped the mark. |

Originally posted by Urdig Picking up a kid and bodily throwing him off stage isnt 'keeping his cool'. I've seen bands actually hit by bottles, not nearly miss them, and still the situation was handled by security, not the artist. If a kid gets on stage and hurls himself off into the crowd, thats their perogative and responsibility, but the guy shouldnt be picking people up and thowing them. |
|
Originally posted by Goldknyght I'm not comparing him to me, I'm comparing him to acts and individuals with real talent and ability. Performers who know its their job to entertain rather than do the security guys job. If it wasnt posturing, why did he feel the need to take of his vest to throw the kid? He was too busy trying to impress the little girls at the front with a six-pack and feigned macho bull to think about what he was doing. I'd be willing to bet his management weren't too impressed either, and I wager whatever law firm represents his label went pale. |

Get yourself one of the big, floppy, feathered musketeer-style hats and camp it up a little. Complain about the smell of the warrior types and thow a bit of prose into your chat. I had a hoot doing that in Beta. Oh and look down on every other class, remember, your an 'artiste' not a grunt :P |

Sorry Rik, but all i see is a barely talented, over-hyped idiot throwing some kid around. Even if the 'throwee' was paid, im sure the person(s) he could have injured when he landed on them weren't. And I've thought exactly the same thing when I've seen rock singers etc hitting kids with guitars and microphones. It's posturing, glorification of violence to massage his ego and enhance his 'street' persona, at the expense of another. Security are there to deal with kids throwing stuff, not the artist. I remember seeing a bottle bounce off Dave Lee Roths head at a gig, he didnt attack him, he let security handle it and then assure the idiot that after the gig he would 'F**k his girlfriend'. That's how a real rock/music star deals with it :) |

More interest in PvP due to the 'PvP-lite' in LoTR might suggest to developers that a 'hardcore' game just might be profitable and therefore worth investing in. You see, when PvPers stop all the posturing and 'carebear' labelling, they actually have my support. Anything that encourages new/PVE players to dip their toe in the PvP water shouldnt be looked down upon by the wise PvPer, it just might result in producing a successful new game for our 'hardcore' brothers :) |
