Easter has been cancelled, they found the body.

This being released (albeit partially) completely slipped me by, so when I found out about the F2P I was pleased.

And then annoyed. Ggeographically I'm in the EU, but according to Acclaim, I'm American.

How very dare you! :)

'Sod this for a game of soldiers' thought I, 'I will have crack at the F2P, no matter what box they mistakenly have placed me in. Twats'.

The IP ban is only in effect on the website. Visit a free web-based German based proxy and sign up through that. Admittedly the ban is in effect for credit card sign-ups, but at least you can get round Acclaims ridiculous behaviour and get a look at the game up to level 7.

Which is what i'm off to do right now.

Well obviously... we're British.

We're just resting at the moment, but we'll be back.

You'll see..

Muhahahaha... etc

Ghostly types called Oathbreakers?

If anything this is directly stealing from Lord of the Rings, not WoW. The spectral army commanded by Aragorn wielding Narsil were known as the Oathbreakers. They are in LoTR Online also.

Very interesting... should be fun to see how the two versions differ.

Maybe Turbine can spread that attention to detail to the EU, by offering us the same deal as the US, in regards to the recently advertised trial, cheaper client pricing and subscription offer. Not a sniff of anything similar for us Euro-types.

Big thank you to those that replied offering advice, still havnt sorted the router problem but found a workaround by sharing the net connection directly from one machine to another, took the router out of the equation completely.

Works like a charrm :)

See you in Paragon City!

Im also on Virgin Media, if i connect to my set-top box directly with one comp, all is well. The problem seems to be my router, as soon as that is brought into the equation I cant get beyond character selection.

Its all very odd though, have successfully played quite a few MMO's with both machines on the same set-up with no problems whatsoever.

Must be something about CoX my router (Sweex RO002) doesnt like - just wish i knew what it was!

Further update, grabbed the NCSoft Net Info Tool, ran it without router, all checks out. With the router it wont return the pings for the route tracer. Went into router set-up, made sure Allow WAN Ping was enabled and ran it again. No change whatsoever!

There is something not right here, just wish i knew what was!

Clear as mud to me :)

Any input gladly welcome!

Incidentally, as stated in my OP I have no problems 2 boxing any other games, just seems to be CoX that gets all upset. Bloody annoying.

A spin off from my big winge/appeal for help post....

If you are currently running 2 accounts on 2 machines on the same net connection successfully, how are you doing it?

What router are you using? etc

Info required please from successful multi-account households!

Short update to this, even if i can get the one comp running behind a router, any ports cleared/DMZ enabling to make this necessary will only apply to one machine, so it looks like getting two comps running at the same time will be an impossibility.

Looks like CoH is about to lose two re-subs, every other game seems to be able to handle this, shame NCSoft cant pull their finger out.

If i sound bitter and pissed off, its because I am :D

If anyone has a solution to this, or is able to run 2 CoH/CoV accounts from the same location, PLEASE post and let me know the secret.

Currently a very disapointed Father and Son superhero duo

Using one machine only I have forwarded the ports required by CoH, still no joy. I then used the DMZ route (allowing all traffic to the one computer), still no result.

Well, I guess the first question would be...sure, everything works fine for one computer without the router, but does it work with one computer through the router?  It may not be an issue of two machines but just the router itself.

I stated i have tried just one machine with the router, and yes it is obvious it is a problem with the router.

But whats the solution? and no 'buy a new router' will not be accepted at this moment in time, as i said in my OP, the same set-up has worked just fine in many other online games. Ill be buggered if im going to buy a new router just for CoH/CoX :P

This a dupe of a thread I started in the CoH section, thought i would open it up to this area of the site in an attempt to 'widen the net'.

Im turning to the MMORPG.com community for help with this issue, as the official 'help' just seems content to email me 'cut and paste' replies that have very little relavence to my specific problem.

Myself and my son play MMO's together, via 2 PC's and a router (Sweex RO002) attached to my Virgin Media set-top box. We both thought of returning to CoX to test out the recent content changes and got ourselves a couple of trial accounts.

With both machines fired up through the router we find we cannot 'zone' any of our characters, log in -YES, select a char - YES. Actually play? - NO.

If i take the router out of the equation and hook up one machine direct, all works well. So the problem as i see it, is the router. Using one machine only I have forwarded the ports required by CoH, still no joy. I then used the DMZ route (allowing all traffic to the one computer), still no result.

We have played EQ, EQ2, DDO and LoTRO all with the same machines and router without a single problem.

What the hell is going on?

Any help/advice would be appreciated!

You all fail to mention Stephen R. Donaldson, author of the the Chronicles of Thomas Covenant series of novels. If you are a fan of fantasy, then these should be on your bookshelf. Glorious, gritty and epic of scale, without doubt (in my opinion) the best set of fantasy books written post-Tolkien.

Stop reading this forum and go and buy them :)

I'm not sexist... Im just sexy :D

Well i can only pass on my impressions garnered over the last near 10 years of MMO gaming, but to date, apart from early EQ, I havn't done as much RP in the last 7 years as I have in the past 6 weeks I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons Online. True the variety and number of preset text and physical emotes is poor compared to SWG, EQ2 snd LoTRo, but it just means you have to be more creative. Which is what RP is all about :)

RP in DDO, due to the community, is in general at very worst tolerated, but in my experience welcomed and encouraged. People using LEETspeak generally stick out like a sore thumb and seem in my experience to be the minority. Not your ideal scenario, but is rare in an MMO these days and probably the best available to you in a 'big name' MMO.

Take up the DDO trial and scour the forums for advice on which is the 'official' RP Server, then look out for a friendly RP guild.

If you are european (too tired and lazy to check) make a character on the Keeper server and send me a tell, same name as my MMORPG.com user. You could also check out my guild's website www.legendsguild.co.uk. Legends are a RP preferred gaming guild with a chapter in most of the current (and upcoming) MMO's.

Hope my rambling helps in some way :P

Foolish and wrong, all of you...

As you are very obviously aware the Earth is flat, supported by four giant elephants, which in turn stand upon the back of a massive Inter-Stellar Turtle. There is no God, but gods, most of whom have retired to the mountain-top retreat of Dunmanefestin. Here they spend there time playing cruel and petty games against each other using all of us as pawns.

All of you need to pick up your game...

PS: Thank you Mr Pratchett :)
