Can someone remind me what the definition of a troll is?

Hypothetically speaking, if a poster only has hateful things to say about a game at every possible opportunity, does that mean their a troll?

So the teams are playing in pvp tourney against eachother right?

How does that happen if everyone is on other servers?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I just don't understand how they could all play eachother.

Could someone *please* explain it?

I will add a very valid point when comes to WOW. If the UI is so fluid,WHY the need for so many add ons? When you NEED add ons that says it is not up to par,not good enough, does it not?

It's customizable, pure and simple.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the fluidity.

When you need addons.... huh?

Technically you don't need them, but for boss raids and even in pvp the timers are very helpful. For the most part its customizability options for each player. I could argue that if your game of choice does not let you customixe the UI, your game of choice is lacking.

I didn't quote the rest of your post but you sound like you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder....

I agree that no other mmo to date can compare to WoW in Fluid Combat.

I enjoyed my time in WoW, played on release and 6 years after. It was my 3rd mmo (first being Shadowbane and then DAOC)

? I have since played Guild Wars, Warhammer, Age of Conan, AION, SWTOR and Guild Wars 2. None of them have had the fluidity and responsiveness that WoW continues to have. Why not? Maybe its Code. Engines are recycled over and over again (Warhammer was a good example of this, played like DAOC to me).

/edit- And no I don't play it anymore either.

For those who enjoy open world PvP - Is this doable, why or why not?

Probably won't be open world PvP at launch, not saying it isn't doable in the future.  But Yoshi-P stated in this article http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/final-fantasy-xivs-yoshida-on-pvp-chocobos-and-mobile-apps/

^ that he didn't think ganking pvp formats fit FF style.

PvP has been confirmed via Coliseum and Grand Company designated warzone area, which the article cites as having increased risk for players.

These two systems to start with imo are a good basis for PvP to start from, i've always found the most enjoyable Pve/PvP balance when Pve is the focus, yet arena's like the coliseum and warzone designated areas are available for those who want to test their skills against other players/guilds.

I believe striking such a balance like WoW or say GW1 did allows not only a larger potential player base but a nice additional change of pace options for different types of gamers.

I have no expectation for anything remotely resembling decent pvp to come from Final Fantasy.

Does anyone have video footage of "Colliseum and Grand Comany designated warzone areas" ?

It would be absolutely awesome if they directly ripped off some realm vs realm from DAOC. But it's just not something I have come to expect with this franchise.

Wait and see.

I can second the trial account thing. A friend of mine bought me this game in the last two weeks (when no trial accounts were even available) and after going afk to handle some real life stuff, I alt tab the game back in and see some "Your trial account is over" dafug? Then it wont log back in...wont connect to the server. Glad to know its just not me.

Is it confirmed that wildstars zones will be seamless? it may sound weird but i think one big reason i always end up going back to wow is because of the large seamless world. it makes it feel vast and while the quest lines may be linear it still makes it feel like you can explore.

Yes and I think a lot of us are excited about that fact. I agree that it definitely makes a big difference but sometimes it's not discussed enough. Although on the topic of exploring if you really enjoy that, one of the paths is for that. It let's you see parts of the map the rest of us can't and takes you to some cool spots. I know there's a bunch of videos that show that somewhere.

Seamless, really one of the last things on my mind when it comes to mmos.

its not really your right to strike first however

what does this even mean? lol

it likely means you feel entitled to having it your way and don't like being challenged on it.

Your line of reasoning can be turned around on you. What class do you like to play? Lets make some fundamental changes to that class.

And when you start to voice your opinions, we can just tell you that you feel entitled to having it your way and you don't like being challenged.

Does that sound fair?

The truth is, when someone gets used to certain mechanics working a certain way, you get used to it. And it just starts to feel right.

Entitled? no.

Uncomfortable with a change, yes. But that can be said about any major change to any class.

daoc did stealth perfect and made it really really fun i think they should do something very similar to this game.

I agree with this ^

The way stealthers had an easier time seeing eachother made for another level in pvp. Stealthers in my own group would warn me, protect me and when we fought other groups, you had choices as a stealther, like taking out there stealther (the groups *scissors*) or focussing on their healer or protecting your groups own soft targets.

For those that completely want to change the mechanic to some broke ass bullshit way of being stealth -IE short time limit etc, I can't help but think you guys are still butt hurt about getting owned.

What if I was to say that the long range that most casters have is dare I say overpowered. And I could say this same thing about any class's abilities.  You can QQ about anything, a tanks armor, hitpoints, a healers ridiculous heals...

Why I am I even replying to this thread lol, how long till this game is POSSIBLY released?

!. Jade Quarry is number 1 WvW server.

2. Racial abilities kinda suck, the sylvari have a nice root. that's about it.

3. Story gives no abilities, but depending on which order you pick, you get special weapons for them (Priory has awesome Jade weapons, look great, my favorite)

4. Ele just got a nerf, thief got a nerf last round. Thief is easier.

5. Both are fun, depending on what you like. Working an elementalist well is amazingly rewarding. Thief is easier, but is still quite fun. I have both. Well, i have all.

6. I'm an JQ server, have a great big guild, etc etc. All classes. Let me know if need help or friends to roll with.

My name is Taaz. Friend me, Find me ^^

 Thank you both very much.

Think I am going to go with thief for my first toon, although the ele and the thief both look like a blast to play.

So when it comes to que times, how are they on your server?

Do all servers show up to WvWvW? In other words, does it ever happen that a lower ranked server just doesn't bother to play cause they are going to get destroyed?

Game finished downloading but Jade Quarry is full :(

Will it always say full? or is that just a time of day thing?

I followed this game religously but when it came time for release, I did not have the time to play. ....then a friend out of the blue buys me the game.  And I am happy to say that the game is in the process of downloading (about 90 percent atm). I am very excited.

I have a couple of questions, is anyone familiar with the servers and if there are any known for pvp above and beyond the others?

Are there any racial abilities?

When you are picking your story, where your from and all that, does that give any abilities whatsoever?

I am looking at starting either a thief or a elementalist. Are both 'as' viable in pvp as the other?

As far as the fun factor, would you consider both classes to be equally as fun?

This actually worries me a little. This exhibits the same level of hubris I saw in SW:TOR. They bucked the genre conventions because supposedly everything had changed. In the end, all their bucking meant nobody wanted to play.

Actually, EA-Bioware talked about bucking all the conventions, but then cloned WoW. So no one wanted to play.

Did you just come out of hypersleep on Tuesday? SWTOR didn't turn out like the devs described it would be.

^^ Why did it take 14 pages for someone to finally say it?

The gear grind is required. The profession grind is required. The achievement grind is required. It's how fun and rewarding that grind is that makes a good MMO.

The arrogance of "Doing it how we always did it because that's how it has always been done."

To put it mildly, I despise that sentiment.

Well my old PC actually caught fire today, yes for reals saw orange glow, heard a pop, smoke and everything.  So had to get something new.  I got one of these Alienware X51 because it was on sale and so far it seems good.

But now I am getting worried if I made a mistake or not?  I just need it to last 2-3 years and run Guild Wars 2 when it is out along with World of Tanks, Second Life and maybe Eve.  I am not really a hardcore gamer and I don't need top of the line graphics but I want at least mid-level or a bit over that.

So was I dumb buying this today or will I be ok?

I worked for Dell.

If your going with laptops, XPS 15 or 17 is just as good or better than the alienware gaming laptops. They cost less money, may have some bloatware thats easy to remove and the only real difference is the color schemes and bigfoot network card in the alienware (highly overrated).

There's also a difference in the video cards.  Those matter if you're planning on playing games on them.

There are three laptops on Dell's site in the "performance" section.  The Inspiron 15R features Radeon HD 7730M graphics, which is the single slowest video card in AMD's latest generation.  The XPS 15 features GeForce GT 640M graphics, which is the single slowest video card in Nvidia's latest generation.  The Inspiron 17R features GeForce GT 650M graphics, which is the next to slowest video card in Nvidia's latest generation, and the same chip as the GT 640M but clocked a bit higher.

And that's the top priced option in each section.  The other, cheaper options would likely be slower yet.  The good news is that those video cards are faster than integrated graphics, and by enough of a margin to actually have a point.  Or at least they're faster than the integrated graphics you'd get in a laptop.  I'm not sure if they're faster than the integrated graphics in the top desktop bin of Trinity; my guess is that the GT 650M is and the others aren't.

For comparison, look at the Alienware M17x, which is the Alienware laptop actually meant to handle gaming--and in demanding games, not just FarmVille and Solitaire.  That features four options.  The GeForce GTX 660M is the slow option, but it's still faster than any Dell-branded laptop.  The GeForce GTX 675M is the stupid option, for people who want to overpay for obsolete hardware.  But it's probably at least twice as fast as a GeForce GT 650M.  The Radeon HD 7970M and GeForce GTX 680M are the top of the line laptop cards from AMD and Nvidia, respectively.  They probably both offer around triple the graphical performance of the single fastest Dell-branded laptop available, and a larger margin yet over some other options.

The downside of Alienware is the price tag.  You can get comparable hardware in a Clevo P170EM for cheaper.  But at least while paying a lot, you do get high performance.  That's more than can be said for any other Dell laptops.

The difference in video cards, between XPS laptops and Alienware laptops, could be changed by customizing the XPS laptops and upgrading the video cards to the equivalant of their Alienware brethren.

and is why I said the following,

If your going with laptops, XPS 15 or 17 is just as good or better than the alienware gaming laptops. They cost less money, may have some bloatware thats easy to remove and the only real difference is the color schemes and bigfoot network card in the alienware (highly overrated).

^ I should of also said ALOT less money.

In response to your second post,  I don't reccomend buying prebuilt pc's at all.

But if he was going to buy a laptop, I would choose an XPS over an alienware.

Oh but wait, your looking at that overpriced, undercooled, underperforming x51---- bleh, no thanks.

I worked for dell when that was released. Not impressed with that in the least.

Man up and build your own. It's not hard. There are free guides everywhere and plenty of pc building enthusiasts that would walk you through it.

We want to play an Elder Scrolls MMO with Skyrim mechanics. ANYTHING less and this game will fail horribly. The producers need to grow some balls and get it done. Period.

If they roll out a WoW/GW2 clone with TES storyline, it wil be the laughing stock of 2013.

It's already a WoW/GW2 clones because that's exactly what they are saying. They are in the deep because, 1) No one has played the game yet and 2) No one has seen gameplay. If they show gameplay ( they really should have shown gameplay before talking about it) then there would be people actually giving them a chance because those people would actually like what they saw but right now, no one likes what they are hearing.

Its also a clone of DAoC, you forgot that one since your naming clones. Also its having a player story line so you forgot SWtOR clone also. Don't sell your cloning short man. Almost forgot its a EQ clone for having PD's

How well is SWTOR doing?

And what do you know about 38 studios?

That's a pretty cynical view.

Well it is not. Do you see maybe in near future some special title that gives you some  fast heart beats??? Well i see some  ''good average'' games but nothing super awesome and huge, something what was never before created

Do people really need some numeric validation of their choice of game? Play what you enjoy, don't give a damn about other games. CoD sells millions of copies each release, loads of people play facebook games and LoL has more subscribers than WoW... thing is, it means pretty much nothing to me, since I'm not interested in either of those.

^Truth. I wish everyone thought this way.

It bothers me to no end when MMO's release and within days people are spouting their opinions on the future of the game.

And all of a sudden, the games success reminds me of a stock in the stock market.

An mmo can do well or tank depending on peoples fears.

34 here, wife and kids and I agree with you.

From that standpoint I like

-Flat Leveling curve

-No endgame

-No grind

-Get to do what I want to do from level 1 (WvW)

-No getting left behind

-No sub is a definitely a bonus but not above any of the previous reasons.
