Guild Wars 2: The MMORPG Invitational - Ready, Set, FIGHT!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/25/13 4:28:48 PM
Can someone remind me what the definition of a troll is?
Hypothetically speaking, if a poster only has hateful things to say about a game at every possible opportunity, does that mean their a troll? |

Guild Wars 2: The MMORPG Invitational - Ready, Set, FIGHT!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/25/13 12:51:05 PM
So the teams are playing in pvp tourney against eachother right?
How does that happen if everyone is on other servers?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I just don't understand how they could all play eachother.
Could someone *please* explain it? |

Still, no MMORPG surpasses WoW in fluid combat (in my opinion): Why not?

When you need addons.... huh? Technically you don't need them, but for boss raids and even in pvp the timers are very helpful. For the most part its customizability options for each player. I could argue that if your game of choice does not let you customixe the UI, your game of choice is lacking.
I didn't quote the rest of your post but you sound like you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder.... |

I agree that no other mmo to date can compare to WoW in Fluid Combat. I enjoyed my time in WoW, played on release and 6 years after. It was my 3rd mmo (first being Shadowbane and then DAOC)
? I have since played Guild Wars, Warhammer, Age of Conan, AION, SWTOR and Guild Wars 2. None of them have had the fluidity and responsiveness that WoW continues to have. Why not? Maybe its Code. Engines are recycled over and over again (Warhammer was a good example of this, played like DAOC to me).
/edit- And no I don't play it anymore either. |

Does anyone have video footage of "Colliseum and Grand Comany designated warzone areas" ?
It would be absolutely awesome if they directly ripped off some realm vs realm from DAOC. But it's just not something I have come to expect with this franchise.
Wait and see. |

New content so exciting, the mass amount of players crashed the server
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 5/16/13 5:18:01 PM
I can second the trial account thing. A friend of mine bought me this game in the last two weeks (when no trial accounts were even available) and after going afk to handle some real life stuff, I alt tab the game back in and see some "Your trial account is over" dafug? Then it wont log back in...wont connect to the server. Glad to know its just not me. |

Originally posted by zeroumus Your line of reasoning can be turned around on you. What class do you like to play? Lets make some fundamental changes to that class.
And when you start to voice your opinions, we can just tell you that you feel entitled to having it your way and you don't like being challenged. Does that sound fair? The truth is, when someone gets used to certain mechanics working a certain way, you get used to it. And it just starts to feel right.
Entitled? no. Uncomfortable with a change, yes. But that can be said about any major change to any class. |

The way stealthers had an easier time seeing eachother made for another level in pvp. Stealthers in my own group would warn me, protect me and when we fought other groups, you had choices as a stealther, like taking out there stealther (the groups *scissors*) or focussing on their healer or protecting your groups own soft targets.
For those that completely want to change the mechanic to some broke ass bullshit way of being stealth -IE short time limit etc, I can't help but think you guys are still butt hurt about getting owned.
What if I was to say that the long range that most casters have is dare I say overpowered. And I could say this same thing about any class's abilities. You can QQ about anything, a tanks armor, hitpoints, a healers ridiculous heals...
Why I am I even replying to this thread lol, how long till this game is POSSIBLY released? |

Thank you both very much.
Think I am going to go with thief for my first toon, although the ele and the thief both look like a blast to play.
So when it comes to que times, how are they on your server?
Do all servers show up to WvWvW? In other words, does it ever happen that a lower ranked server just doesn't bother to play cause they are going to get destroyed?
Game finished downloading but Jade Quarry is full :( Will it always say full? or is that just a time of day thing? |

I followed this game religously but when it came time for release, I did not have the time to play. ....then a friend out of the blue buys me the game. And I am happy to say that the game is in the process of downloading (about 90 percent atm). I am very excited.
I have a couple of questions, is anyone familiar with the servers and if there are any known for pvp above and beyond the others?
Are there any racial abilities?
When you are picking your story, where your from and all that, does that give any abilities whatsoever?
I am looking at starting either a thief or a elementalist. Are both 'as' viable in pvp as the other?
As far as the fun factor, would you consider both classes to be equally as fun?

Is it fun? The hubris of bucking convention.

The difference in video cards, between XPS laptops and Alienware laptops, could be changed by customizing the XPS laptops and upgrading the video cards to the equivalant of their Alienware brethren. and is why I said the following, If your going with laptops, XPS 15 or 17 is just as good or better than the alienware gaming laptops. They cost less money, may have some bloatware thats easy to remove and the only real difference is the color schemes and bigfoot network card in the alienware (highly overrated).
^ I should of also said ALOT less money.
In response to your second post, I don't reccomend buying prebuilt pc's at all. But if he was going to buy a laptop, I would choose an XPS over an alienware.

Oh but wait, your looking at that overpriced, undercooled, underperforming x51---- bleh, no thanks.
I worked for dell when that was released. Not impressed with that in the least.
Man up and build your own. It's not hard. There are free guides everywhere and plenty of pc building enthusiasts that would walk you through it.

It bothers me to no end when MMO's release and within days people are spouting their opinions on the future of the game.
And all of a sudden, the games success reminds me of a stock in the stock market. An mmo can do well or tank depending on peoples fears. |

IMO I think this game could attract a lot of mature players

34 here, wife and kids and I agree with you.
From that standpoint I like -Flat Leveling curve -No endgame -No grind -Get to do what I want to do from level 1 (WvW) -No getting left behind
-No sub is a definitely a bonus but not above any of the previous reasons. |
