What Brought You To MMORPG.com The First Time?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/14/13 4:18:29 PM
I just typed in mmorpg.com because I wanted to see what site was in it. I was just curious, I guess. Don't remember it much but I think I wasn't looking for any info.

What would you consider hands off in your mmos ?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/10/13 10:53:35 AM
Only two things for me and this is more about the players/community than game design. - no mute - global chat (most often in MMORTS) |

Fetch Quest MMO, how much longer can you milk this cow.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/10/13 10:51:33 AM
A lot of heated discussion here. I don't find these types of quests annoying except for the "dailies" or daily quests in which you have a routine where you have to do certain things every single day. Wow, could content get any more boring? The sad thing is that people seem to like having daily repeatable content.

Yeah, I agree with most of the people on this thread. MMOs are evolving but I think this is a good thing. Five years from now people will probably be playing on their mobile devices with in-game voice chat. Maybe ten years from now we will have virtual reality helmets with multiplayer online gaming. I hope there will be more sandbox games, too. Minecraft was a big success so I expect someone will be making an MMO like it pretty soon, that is if they aren't already doing that. |

How much would you pay for an exclusive item?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 4/10/13 5:14:54 AM
I would pay like $20 for a cosmetic item. Maybe $50-60 if I really, really wanted it. IMO, $200 is too much for a purely cosmetic item. I can see why people would pay that much if they got an item that made playing easier or more enjoyable but for items that have no use I think its too expensive.

The B&S english website doesn't say that it's going to be subscription type. Has there been new info that it will be pay to play?

I am on this forum reading a lot of posts because I was thinking of buying the Founder's Pack. Reactions seem mixed, lots of people don't like it but others do. I haven't read many threads about people totally loving it so I won't buy the pack yet. I expect it will be available for some time so there's no rush, right?

It's hard to define sandbox but RS as a game is not theme park, IMO because no one holds you hand and tells you what to do. Each player does his own thing. There is not the feeling like I have in WoW that I have to keep on turning in "kill 10 rats" quests every time I log in. |
|
|
Yeah, I was confused at first but actually when the monsters hit 28 today, that is only the equivalent of a 2 or 3 hitpoint damage in the old RS. I mean, back in the old RS 28 would have been a huge hit but nowadays it is nothing. |

Every MMORPG out or in development has been ruined for me by Skyrim.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/10/11 11:45:53 PM
Skyrim is that good? I have been hearing about this game everywhere. Maybe it's time to give it a go even though I need to watch my budget. I hope it doesn't ruin my enjoyment of MMOs though. |

If you had to choose one IP/World for the next super quality, extreme good/succesful fantasy MMO. What would you chose?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 12/10/11 11:33:23 PM
I voted for Dragonlance but I would prefer an original IP. Dragonlance is pretty good for a fantasy setting and you can have lots of different races. I would love to ride a (Dragonlace-type) dragon, too.
(Wow I had to validate the fact that I am human to post this!) |

Originally posted by Alx_Starfire I just heard about the MMO so I was watching the trailer. On topic: Actually, I remember that in one free to play game I played back in the day that was kill and loot the pk areas were actually better than the non-pk ones. People were more well-behaved if they knew you could kill them and take all their shiny gold pieces. Like, in the non-pk areas players would harrass you and "steal" mobs while cussing you out. In the pk area players had two choices: if you were weak you had to be polite or if you were stronger then you could kill the other player. |

Lol I am watching the new E3 Neverwinter MMO trailer right now. Weird coincidence. |

Would you play an MMO with a very large, one-off fee?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 10/28/11 1:51:25 AM
I don't see why $500 is such a big amount. If I added up everything that I have spent on MMOs it would be around $600 for all subscriptions because I have been playing since the early 2000s. So yeah I would pay $500 for the best MMORPG ever ... but not upfront. Some upfront plus monthly subs is fine but it would be too risky as a one time payment. I mean, what if the game got bad after two months of playing? What if my character got hacked and I couldn't recover it? |

I guess it's the trend nowadays to make MMOs more casual gamer friendly and therefore reduce or even totally remove old school "kill and loot their armor" type of gameplay but I miss it. Yeah, sometimes you die and it sucks a lot when you lose all of your good stuff but hey, it made life more exciting back in the day. You had to keep an eye out for those murdering player killers all the time. I mean, if a player went up to you and noticed you were afk, say goodbye to your armor. Heck, if I went up to a lower-level guy and he was afking, I would kill him myself even though I am not a hardcore pk. It was just how it was. Nowadays you can probably play any MMO without worrying about anything at all. Just go and play solo, complete your quests and level up. That's what I do in WoW. |

Runescape: Citadels and the Future of the Game
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/12/11 8:56:16 AM
The new update sounds good but what is crying out for development is the Runescape/Jagex customer service. You literally cannot email, chat or talk to customer service in any way. If you have any problem that can't be solved by filling in a form on their website then it's hopeless. |

Yeah happens to me a lot. I also get black screen errors and random disconnections. :( |

Hand pain from all the clicking is definitely a problem. |
