You can always come to Onyxia, our active server population is in the low hundreds. Luckily our battlegroup isn't that bad. If you don't like interacting with a lot of people, it's a good server for that. From 1-80 I would, on average, see perhaps 1-2 people in a given zone. Major cities (SW, IF) had less than 10 people every time I went, and usually had between 1 and 3. |

* After careful study, What's wrong with Vanguard *
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 11/06/10 2:03:25 PM
Every time I have gone back to Vanguard, I've loved it. Sad thing is, I don't believe it's a priority for SOE anymore like others have stated. The game is much better than it used to be, but I believe it'll never grow beyond what it currently is based on the resources the team has available. |

I had no idea this was out! Just downloaded it, and ran both low and high. Q9650 o/c @ 4ghz, 4 gigs ram, ATI 5870 (stock) High: 4869 (load time: 15101) Low: 5980 (load time: 13884) |

I enjoyed the game a lot, but every time I try it I get bored within a month. It'd be great if I could find that hook to keep me playing... |

Building a computer like that is a complete waste of money. If you've used computers for 15 years and "have no problems fixing them", you'd already know running a 650 watt with 2 8800 Ultra's is a silly thing to do. I call BS, or just someone wanting attention. |

Edit your post and press enter every now and again at random intervals when you find the end of a sentence. I think that'll help more people read through it. Nevertheless... good luck with getting a response back from NCSoft :) |

Got mine too, it worked great. Thanks! |

You can subscribe, but I believe to get the initial subscription you will need a credit card - which means 18 years old at least. It may be possible to start a new sub with a time card, but i'm not sure about that so you may want to see what others say :) Look forward to seeing you ingame! |

SOE considering letting rangers be bowmen
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 11/30/07 12:57:44 AM
Woops, my mistake about AA :) Yes - try with the latest drivers, and set the control panel to override any application settings. Start with 2x AA ingame first (it seems to be the most stable). With 2x i've never had any glitches or graphical anomalies. |

SOE considering letting rangers be bowmen

AA currently works great in the game if you have an nvidia card with the latest driver set (169.xx). You have to force the AA on the driver level (through the nvidia control panel). It definitely makes the game look fantastic! |

I know the exact location the OP is talking about. Sadly, you technically aren't supposed to get up right there (it's a shortcut that bypasses a lot of enemies). If you run at just the right angle when facing the hill you can glitch up it. There aren't many locations you can do this - but for you to get frustrated and quit over just THAT really tells me something. I find it rather comical, too - seeing as you could have gone 20 feet the other direction and fought your way back up to where that hill leads. Like others have said - take a gaming break and cool your temper and/or frustrations before playing a game that requires any thought at all. |

How is the server population now?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 11/28/07 10:51:12 PM
As the others said, you won't have a problem finding a group on seradon. During prime time there are tons of players in all level ranges. If you play during off hours, it can sometimes get difficult to form full groups... but I don't really consider that a big problem - that's my favorite time to solo and do the occassional odd quest. |

The game runs great with the 8800 series graphics cards. The only problem they really have is when your in a 6 man group doing a dungeon crawl and the particle effects start flying around. I can go from 35-40fps (running on high settings) to around 15-20 when everyones working their magic, skills, etc and we are fighting 2-3 mobs at once. It looks amazing, and luckily in an mmorpg 15-20 fps isnt that big of a deal... it's not like this is a first person shooter where we need major fps. I noticed the particle sliders _hardly_ have any effect at all as well (in the settings area). They seem more like toggles then anything. I believe once SOE updates the game with the character skeleton fixes/optimizations we will see much better performance with large player gatherings. Also - that's a sweet rig you plan to build. The game will run fantastic on it! |

what settings can i run vanguard on?
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 11/25/07 2:19:39 PM
I've got the same setup, but with an 8800gtx. I run render quality on balanced and texture quality on high. I set render to balanced because the game can crawl in towns and when there's large player gatherings. On balanced I get decent (20+) fps when in those situations. Otherwise I see 30-70fps when solo and grouped. |

My opinion about Vanguard now

Glad you are back! I hope you will continue to enjoy yourself ingame :) |

I have a 2.8ghz core 2 duo, 2 gigs of ddr800, and an 8800gtx. I can play with everything maxed, however in large groups or in towns the FPS is just unacceptable. Anything under 25 fps~ is just to low for my preference. In the wilderness or solo I get 35-60fps easy. I just prefer it to be super smooth at all times, so for me this means turning the render quality to balanced and the texture quality to medium-high. The game still looks amazing, and keeps a much more constant FPS. Still, I wish they'd fix the hitching when entering huge towns or when lots of players load onscreen at once (like when a group enters your view and loads...). I hear SOE has some much needed performance and character tweaks coming at some point which should really help. edit- I forgot to mention I also play with AA on (latest nvidia drivers allow AA to work in vanguard without messing it up), and at a resolution of 1680x1050. |
