How long does it take you to know whether an mmorpg is for you?

As for the OP, if I just randomly start playing a game I usually know within minutes. Anything themepark-ish isn't my style so it's pretty easy to sort out games I know I won't like. After that initial time period it goes into 'maybe' mode for a few days to see how things play out. |

Originally posted by Fraden Oh, do cut us a bit of slack, most games don't show themselves as early as we have. :D We've been very clear about how far away from release we are, and our stage of development. You may wish to take a break and come back in a year or two. :) |

Originally posted by Biskop Dave already commented on this, but I'd just like to add that you may wish to take a look at our most recent newsletter. It's because of sentiments similar to this that we will soon(tm) have at least a little something for people to 'play.' If nothing else it should prove that we are moving forward steadily with development and won't be crashing any time soon. You can see it here. |

Devs are vets of plenty of MMO's, they've seen first hand what happens when expectations and reality are so far apart ;)

Chopping wood may make you strong, but it doesn't make you any better at fighting :P The basic idea is that there is a skill cap you can reach, and after that when you train in new things it pulls points out of your previously trained skills. So, individual caps on a skill as well as a general pool. To use some random numbers, if there are 1000 points in the pool and skill cap is 100, you can train 10 skills to 100, 20 skills to 50, etc. Keeping in mind that power growth shouldn't be as massaive as in many games, so having a skill at only 60 or 80 % will still be good, instead of completely worthless. In theory ;) And don't worry, it won't just be pvp deathmatch all day. The devs come from MO and DF and don't want that to happen, along with the myriad other issues in those two games. |

This week we have another musical piece, entitled the Aalnarech Saga - Part 1: A New Age! This is the first part of what will be a series of pieces themed around Aaldnarech (expect a similar series for each continent in the future!). This piece is inspired by the time just after the apocalypse, when people are just beginning to come to grips with the new face of Caerus. Find it here. |

No, Grokk, totally different :P They're, uh...smarter, and have more varience as a species. Yeah. Totally not ogres or big orcs or anything!

The brutes have eaten Yoppa. I think it might be my fault. I probably should have woken him before fleeing our camp. At least they had the decency to cook him first.

No, as I said FS only recently (last couple of weeks) gained control of the forums and info here. They didn't start this. |

Yeah, Forsaken Studios hasn't done any huge amount of advertising. The forums here only recently came under offical FS control. The largest advertising was during the Kickstarter campaign, and that has been over for a while, goals accomplished. It has been almost entirely word of mouth.
