General: Looking for a F2P Love
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/07/11 8:51:53 AM
I've been back to LOTRO in the past months, and being F2P now is not a big issue: you can easily buy quest packs, and for other stuff there's not a real need. No discrimination now for F2P :) Is always a good old solid game, maybe a bit dated for something, but there are a lots of things to do. good luck:) |

General: Moving On from Your MMO
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 9/09/11 10:11:52 AM
I’d be interested to know whether people’s sentiments regarding game endings do vary visibly by age, or if it’s more of a personality thing. Do you agonize over leaving a game (friends, familiar things) or do you just up and leave with a jaunty wave? Do you only leave once you have another game lined up? Do you try to keep in touch with your friends once they’re gone, or do you actually try to take some of them with you? Well, I'm 43, playing MMO only for few years...but yes, everytime I leave I feel a sense of loss. And it takes me long time, splitted between boredom and the love of familiar things and friends. Even I'm not in RL, on MMO I'm a very social player. Repetitive quests and dungeons can be made with the right bunch of people, and I try to keep in touch with people I like..even if is not the same. What I love is learning a game. Leveling up slowly, crafting, exploring, fine tuning my characters (yeh altaholic here), building a good community and have a laugh toghether. And I found something curious while playing. The relationship I have with my characters is similar to the one I had with my dolls when I was a child; each one was my personal creation, but had a little personality on her own ;) And yes, now I'm waiting for GW2. On AIon I had a great community, but didn't like gameplay. Currently on Lotro, I love the gameplay, but the community is too "closed". AoC is fun, but a little "old" for me. Maybe I give another try to Rift. While waiting for a game that will keep me in, longer than the average year and half. Think is more a personality thing. |

awesome. will be a bit tricky to master 3d combat, but as on flying in Aion, will add "taste" :) |

I played saturday night and sunday, and all went smooth. No lag at all, even in super crowded stations. Playing a summoner, and found pets more responsive and faster than old game; the minibosses appearing every 50 kills dropped a lot of nice stuff :) Yes, is an old game, random generated maps, some old mechanics...but the atmosphere is amazing and is very funny to play. Can't wait for next beta, and raise my char a bit further. My summoner :) |

Question For A LOTRO Human/Elven Player
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 6/02/11 9:56:56 AM
Anyway, when you finish both your "tutorial zone" you can choose freely the towns in which level up toghether, following the quest line, and especially the epic storyline that will bring you around the world toghether. Captain/hunter is a good pair imho :) |

General: The Weight of Our Worlds
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/02/11 9:51:33 AM
I like your analysis, and agree with the big/small companies situation. I see also that innovation comes from indie/small companies, but then a lot of good ideas really spread through the mmorpg world raising the level of the gaming experience. Yes, philosophy won't pay your bills...but NCsoft will publish GW2, and that means hope. |

random loot needs to be the future
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/12/11 3:43:05 PM
Don't know in other games, but I tried the "random loot" in Aion, and that's one of the reasons I left the game. About 90 runs in the same dungeon and got 2 pieces of armor. Some days we don't had even "junk loot". Also crafting was so random that a lot of people at end game begin to feel "lucky" or "unlucky". And nothing to revert the situation. Considering also that is a full time job to equip a character or crafting something..oh well, is really too frustrating. I consider myself a kind of hardcore gamer with a job and a family...and I prefer when my efforts are rewarded. So I prefer to gather coins from instances and have multiple possibilities to get good stuff instead that rely on being lucky or not. And I agree. Is not a problem of loots. If you are bored is time to change game: having random loots can only get frustrating, IMHO. But is me. |

Aerrevan: Premium Account Key Handout!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/07/11 6:23:55 PM
oh so I'm not the only one. Did the "create account "twice, but can't log in at all...and don't have received any confirmation mail after four hours. Well the vid on first page is not encouraging..looks a bit "old", but wanted to give a look to non-class system and interactive NPC. But look they have major problem to resolve before that -.- |
|
Yeh all 10 looking for tank and/or cleric ;) (elyos side btw) Is not easy for me leaving a game after 18 months of hardcore playing..but really, at the end was boring, and a bit frustrating. |

I left Aion about 2 months ago, after playing continuosly from beta. On pve side is still impossibe to get groups for BT or DP (major instances) and drops are nothing. On pvp side, at least on Telemachus Elyos side, I know that sieges are pretty nice and balaurea too...but how long will last this time? But I won't come back. Maybe with 2.5, with new instances, and if something changes with drops and craft. Is a very frustrating game, and pretty boring at endgame, especially in pve side. But also a lot of "pvpers" left....always same problem for me: they don't care very much of western customers. |

I enjoyed a lot Lord of the Rings online. Was my first game, and I started with my husband. Is very nice to grow up toghether, crafting is quite funny (scholar is my advice) , and if you choose complementary class all run smooth. Also Guild War is funny to play, maybe now a bit old for some things, but is a good start. One year ago I'd say also Aion, for the extreme beauty of landscapes and characters, but is too frustrating. Depends a lot on her experience, anyway. Did she ever played? She likes better bow or laser rifle? She has a pvp soul or likes only epic battles against huge bosses? I suggest you try toghether some games to choose what you like best to play toghether. Oh, and a very important thing: play with her, and let her grow as a player encouraging her skills. Get in a guild, show the social part of games. Playing toghether is great :)
And yes, Jamin, I'm a girl (erm..ok an old one) and I'm crazy for MMO, subscribing to all beta coming up , and I know a lot of girls playing MMO, officers in guilds and very good players. |

Aion: Assault Balaurea Re-Review
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 3/11/11 1:54:00 PM
Aion is one of the most beautiful world I played in. Is a game rich of contents, characters are amazing, leveling up is quite smooth- But has a couple of big issues in gameplay. One is the PVP system that is a gankfest, encouraging bullism. The other is the RNG system that affects crafting and drops. Is a gear based game, so beware. |

Oh Bill, you're touching a deep human question about opinion and self. What I think is there's a chain of behaviours that brings out al the whining and yelling. Chain: I don't believe in myself, and count on favorable opinions from outside to build my self image, so I can live. When I have an opinion, I try to enter in a group that share my opinion so I feel that this opinion is real and I feel safe. But to be more safe, I need that people around me share this opinion, so I yell at others and point the finger to my "friends" and try to convince them to follow me, or better my self image. Yes, all this is walking on thin ice. And that's why flames are so common. Self image is very frail because is not built on self, but on popularity: so a lot of energy is put in defending it. Wouldn't be easier to put all this energy in developing the real self, and share opinions, so to grow toghether? Would be surely more fun...and more interesting. I can share my ideas, and I reserve the right to myself to change it..and sometimes I find something new and interesting, or not. But my real self has grown and learned. Everyone has his/her truth, and nobody is right or wrong. Is simply "IMHO" :) |
