afai remember the items in DAoC did exactly the same... so as said above, not sure what you are trying to point out.

Basically the topic is compare between % stat that grow and not grow .

I just (wow style) because most of those game use that type of % stats , it not direct to wow itself.

For example , in those game , the gears base stats + 20% evasion .

At level 1 same gears , the basic stats (STR AGI INT) is low and the evasion base = 20%

At max level same gears , the basic stats high and the evasion base raise to 35%.

 

In case % stat don't grow with the basic stats , the evasion rate at level 1 = max level = 20% . No change.

 

uuuh, gotcha. well, basically that's normal RPG behaviour, raising your char stats with level, and the idea is directly taken from DnD.

ofc they handle loot and stuff differently, but the idea aint too new actually.

i could level daoc alone too, neocron the same, so actually, it's like this since 2k.

squad instances scale from 1 to 3 players, grp instances do not.

seriously, i am so sick of people asking "how to unlock classes" or "what's up with those followers an adepts!?".

you got bored by a game in early game already? assumption: it's not meant for you.

 

i really enjoy playing skyforge atm, unlocking new skills and talents for my class, leveling through new inis and areas.

 

seeing all those points mentioned above, all i can think of is a spoiled chiled crying over everything and everyone bc they can't entertain em.

 

seriously, 

 

P2W or cash-shop intensive. (Archeage)

Too grindy for people who don't have maybe that much time to devote to a single game. (Aion, ESO)

Not enough Freedom of choice or very linear questing. (Any themepark)

Nothing new. (World of Warcraft)

Single Player/hub based. (Skyforge, Neverwinter)

Action combat with limited abilities. (GW2, Wildstar)

Boring uninspired PvP (Rift, FFXIV)

ofcors they are not, but in the first week, when you try to reach the class you actually WANT to play, they quite frankly are :)

sooo, after giving RSI 85 million dollars without even being close to alpha....

Nan, before telling people to report it... take a look at the policies of Trion.  You cannot post on their forum until you're a specific game level (Meta level 2 I believe).  I know I'm level 7-8 in the game and I can't get to post on there to share my issues.  Imagine how many others can't as well.

Sandbox as of now is misused in a way that simply states it is  NOT a Themepark but that does NOT auto make it a Sandbox  either.

A sandbox has to have the tools for the players to create the game/universe a game like Eve does NOT do that.

An example of a true Sandbox would be UnrealTournament because you play on private run servers where you can actually do whatever the heck you want with your server.If you know some C+ you can go in and change ALL of the parameters of the game,the stats , healing,movement speed,physics you can change the maps as well as add new assets etc etc.

Bottom line is there are no such true Sandbox games out there especially not in the MMORPG genre.

PVP is NOT a sandbox aspect it is simply a Flag you can give players to flag them destructible and how much of a  damage thresh hold.

The best you can hope for in games is ZERO HAND HOLDING ,no cheat aspects like add-ons and radar and lock-on just the players and their skills and hopefully some nicely laid out maps that make for some quality combat.

 

actually a SANDBOX does not need a modable engine, it needs a "modable world".

and that is not achieved by recoding it or by using tools to mod the world, doom was no sandbox game, doom was a shooter - but maybe one of the heaviest modded around.

the game that comes closest to the term sandbox is obviously minecraft. no mmo in the usual sense tho.

Now, I'm not a programmer nor would I bother going to school for it ( Billionaire's don't need to go to school ) BUT I would have the best team of programmers on this Earth.  I would buy them an MMO building and pay them well with the best hardware and software money could buy. 

I hate what marketing had become.  HOWEVER, it would be different. Their job would be keeping the public informed and paint an exciting picture of what they can expect.  Full of unimaginable features......Difference being, it would be TRUE....Infact the game will be way better than what is told......Treasures everywhere !

 

Things I would insist on at our monthly round table meeting would be :

- No cash shop ever.  $60 for the game,$15 a month.  Being a Billionaire why so much ?.........All profits would be directly reinvested back into the product. 100% to insure updates and expansions.  The money would steam roll in because were talking about the best mmo ever.....The product will eventually pay for itself ten fold.

- Fast production, no 7 years in the making.  However it will take time no matter how large the developer team. Even dough I'm a Billionaire, I have to be realistic.

- Graphics.  It's getting downright silly trying to make mmo's with maximum realism........Billionaire or not there is a limit. Graphics would be World of Warcraft quality or LOTRO......100% concentration on making a cool game with a cool world, with a lot of cool stuff to do.......Any thing else would be wrong, period !......If a percentage of the player base refuses, then they could take there power stations and look for something else, good luck :) 

- Huge world, Open world, Non-instanced world....Not much time needed on this topic.  Being a billionaire, you could just imagine what I would do :)

- Completely solo game....Completely group game.....And everything in between game.  Why?....Because it's Huge !!!!!!

- Dungeons and Raids at all levels.  Deep ones.  No small ones, if you don't like it then kiss my butt.  I'm a billionaire !

- 3 Factions, 10 starting areas for each.

- Classes, 20 classes or more.  Also, I would search the world for the most open minded thinker to develop even more. 

- Fantasy, well that sounds boring :(...........Well, remember I talked about re-investing all profits ?  One Expansion would be a space ship to take you to a SiFi universe to start over.  And I'll have that open minded thinker guy invent other cool stuff that I'm unable to come up with :)

 

Please feel free to add more features you would like to see.  Remember I'M A BILLIONAIRE, WITH A LARGE BUDGET !

a gamedesigner or the producer "makes" it, most likely the second.

 

but yes, if i had the cash, i'd start to build a team right away

 

so far it's the combat system, it's refreshing compare to the usual tab target systems.

the skilltree / ascension atlas is also really crazy... guess it will give me something to do for the next time :)

1) alot of people were max lvl

2) accounts were shared between family or friends because it worked (usualy everyone had his own tho, they kinda fixed that after or with daoc)

3) yes. dieing should not be ... a break but a pain in the ass :)
