Originally posted by Renoaku I have no idea this OPs background, but I do agree with his 2nd statement. It's why I left the game. I'm anxious to see the flame posts in 1-2 months when people progress and realize its pay 2 win and enjoy. It's not totally obvious in the beginning and I'm an experienced gamer and bought into the uber-hype on these forums. But 1-2 months in, it becomes overwhelmingly obvious. Can't wait. |

Originally posted by NC360 You level through converting cultivation points towards leveling your skills. So first, you need enough cultivation points to convert to even make the TP worth the time to get in a group and do it. A 25 round TP with perfect execution will use up about 65000 cultivation points. A 10 rounder will do around 30000 cultivation points. But also for each round of TP you participate in you gain fatigue or something like that. You have 100 fatigue or whatever its called to use each day. After that, you cannot TP until the next day when it resets. I would normally TP like 2 out of every 3 days. The one day I'd just let my cultivation points build up again. Some people want to be dicks and interrupt the TP sessions. For this reason, sometimes TP is hard to actually do. At least this was the case in Tangmen. It's actually not that difficult to level. I got max tier 1 internal in about a week or 2 at max if I remember and then level 18 tier 2 in another two weeks. |

I looked again at your sig. So you're still in SWTOR? I'd stick with that to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I loved Age of Wushu and as you can see in my other post, played it to high level, but in the end, if you pvp, I can guarantee you will disadvantaged unless you 1) have amazing luck in script steal (like <1% luck) 2) grind like crazy to make enough gold to purchase the needed skills or dungeon grind (the one dungeon is 4 hours on a very good group). you have to grind that one a lot to get the flying skill drops 3) drop a bunch of cash in the cash shop. like well over $200. Of course, fanboys will tell you different. And I listened to all of them. Until I got to the high level and then knew firsthand. Then the tone changed. Instead of people saying, well you're just not high enough level, they were saying, well you just need to dungeon grind like crazy. I just don't have that kind of time. I have a life. I'd prefer to play a SWTOR where I can jump into a warzone and then get back to RL commitments after an hour or two. To each their own I guess. |

I played until second tier inner skill high level. My advice..... 1) Educate yourself about the game. It is difficult but read on the internet about classes and skills. Read a lot. 2) Get your experience points up past 500. Then if you leave for a long weekend, you're still gaining cultivation points. A great way to do this is spying. I would recommend that. You need to spy a lot anyway to get the last few 2nd inner skill levels. 3) TP when you have 100K cultivation points. 4) Level only your inner skill until tier 2 inner skill, level 10 at least (a good stopping point is tier 2, level 18 when you have to run a >4 hour dungeon) 5) Kidnap. A lot. But don't do it in Chengdu, that's just stupid. Pick targets in low population areas. And the higher level isn't nearly as important as the length of time since the player was last kidnapped (or logged out). It may also help to pick a class that doesn't get penalized for kidnapping (Guard, WV, or Tang). 6) Buy the two really cheap flying skills off the auction house. They don't cost much and you should have enough with VIP. The game is much more enjoyable with at least them. Don't spend more than a total of 10L for both skills. 7) Be prepared to either grind like crazy or spend some cash. I pvp a lot and wanted to do that and found myself quite disadvantaged by gear and skills that need to be purchased. Yes, you can scroll steal, but the success rate of actually stealing is very low and the odds on getting the 4-5 skills that make you OP are extremely low. So you either have to grind to get about 5-10Ding or you have to pay for it. #7 was gamebreaking for me. Hence why I quit. Btw, nice sig.

Age of Wushu: Get your Dragon Slayer Gift Pack Now!

Originally posted by Septdeez It's really more like you have to spend lots of time and / or money. You could just spend $300-500 and get a great character with gear and skills for pvp. Or you could grind endlessly for the gear and a chance at those skills. But yes, I agree that for me, there are other choices for both my time and money. Cool concepts though if it didn't cost so much of a person's capital. |

Darkfall Unholy Wars Launch - April 16
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 4/03/13 4:38:02 PM
Originally posted by bcbully As someone who has played both betas for DFUW and Age of Wushu at extensive length, I would NOT recommend either of these poor choices. I will give Age of Wushu a little more credit - at least it works. But unless you have no job and want to grind your life away or you are inheritantly wealthy and can spend more than $300 in the cash shop, you will find yourself severly disadvantaged in AOW. I don't mean to derail this thread though, so let's sum up with DFUW sucks. Just wait till the NDA is lifted. |

Was thinking of giving the game a second go

Originally posted by Crunchy222 If you paid for the game, you get 4 hotbars, 8 characters, and should have lots of cartel coins waiting for you. It's a great deal. Things still limited - you level slower, but with the current double xp weekends, this is not a big deal. You also can't wear purple items. That's probably the biggest one. You can buy an unlock for this. It's a shame there's so much negative false info out there about this game. It's a great game for those who didn't have some expectation going in for a sandbox or eve online type game. |

I can prove AOW is not P2W and reasons why you should play it.

Originally posted by Opapanax His name was Havocc. I definitely won't forget it. Thanks for the tip on the speed buff. I do the rest of the suggestions. I am fairly successful at getting the script on my back and getting away from the mayhem around the case. I have troubles later when I get singled out because someone notices I'm a blue dot (lower level) and they chase me using goose and/or chain etc. I did group with a guildee once. Once again, I'm lower level so I got yanked. He left me for death. I play Tang if that helps with context. Oh and I misspoke earlier - its 50L silver coins for spying. Still, you have to do the weekly to progress anywhere past the Tier 2 inner level 30, so I'm not sure why you'd ever run into issues getting that money. |

Originally posted by bcbully Maybe you were the guy who killed me three nights in a row. Making silver is a problem. At least enough to pay for things you need like gear or the needed skills. I constantly kidnapped, dungeon run, script stole, and played a lot for about a month. I never spent a penny and never had more than 600L. The silver coins npc/stuff is a joke to get. You're kidding right? You just have to spy and you get a like 150L each time you spy (which you should be doing the weekly if you ever expect to progress end game). |

Originally posted by Doogiehowser I've played this game a lot in the last month. In my opinion, it is pay to win. The OP makes a point about the gear and yes, you can get the gear eventually by grinding, but it takes forever. Each piece of gear is around 100-500 Liang. You get 15-50 Liang from kidnapping which is capped at a once and hour limit. So to get the 14 or so pieces, it would approxiamtely take you 140 kidnaps. Keep in mind that the P2Wers who are just buying gold can purchase this gear instantly. So by the time you are fully geared, they will likely be instant buying the next tier. And this whole theory about it doesn't make a difference in attack is not correct. It does. Additionally, he fails to acknowledge the real source of PTW. Only people with very large amounts of silver can purchase the overpowered skills from the auction house. There is one skill that completely heals you full by swapping your magic and health bars. There's another that refills your magic. And yet another that helps you build "rage" for your big hitter much, much faster than others do. These skills are selling for around 5000-10000 Liang each. If you want them, you would have to kidnap 300 times or so. And keep in mind you can only do it once an hour. So even if you do it 15 times a day, it would take you 20 days to get one of these needed skills. And I just put down the big 3...there's about 10 skills you really need. I PVP a lot. In every game. Never in a game have I felt so singled out and disadvantaged as in this game. At one point I was screaming at the monitor last night as the same guy killed me for the 3rd night in a row as I tried to script steal. Script stealing is a once a day event lasting 30 minutes where you can try to grab a script and run all the way out of a zones map before being killed. Imagine trying to steal something from Stormwind and having to run to Duskwood to be safe all the while being attacked by anyone who doesn't have a script strapped to the back. Because I have such ugly gear and no survivability skills, other players know I am an easy kill. I must admit, I like this game a lot. It's challenging, engaging, and requires you to group or guild up. I don't really mind the grind as much as I hate losing day after day to the same players who just hit their OP buttons which I have no access to get. I've tried crafting, gathering, kidnapping, and many other means possible to try and make more money, but it doesn't come close to the amount you would need to remain competitive. It's too bad, but I'm really leaning towards quitting. So in summary, this game is P2W. Even the OP admits it gives you an advantage. Many people try to justify that you can be competitive without paying. I agree, if you want to dedicate your life to this game. |

Originally posted by Warjin I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with you. Those two things really bug me too. Other things that would help: 1) more classes 2) A slight attempt to balance the broken classes in pvp (bubble sorc / smash jugg) 3) world pvp which they've done better lately with the Ilum changes of course, now is about the time when everyone's flames about how bad the game is even though they haven't played it in a year. at least we don't have to hear how much better gw2 will be anymore. |

I gave this game a second go as I wrote it off too quickly the first time around. Man it is waaaaaaaay better than I thought. Now I'm hooked. Haven't felt this way since my first game. It's fabulous. Anyway, got to go....back to the game :) |

Originally posted by Windamere I'm not really a fan of this game because it's quite complicated, but I must say I did not experience either of these things after playing for about 5 hours. I was never ganked and did not see goldseller, but did see a lot of players working on lots of different types of tasks, which is how you get experience. |
