Should MMORPGS come to the New console systems?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/24/13 5:51:24 PM
For those who believe that the consoles themselves can not handle running MMORPGs, they are delusional. For being dumbed down due to controls, that should not be an issue either being that PS3 has support for mouse and keyboard usage and vice versa, games like Tera fully support controllers. Its two things. 1. Patching is a much different process on consoles than it is on pcs. Its a much more elongated and costly task. 2. The audience. Console gamers are mostlyracing, sports, FPS players. Some game can be successful exceptions like Skyrim, but for the most part console gamers view mmorpgs in a much different light than we do(we as in us here at mmorpg.com).

Ever since the surge in F2P madness my bunny hopping from one MMO to another is out of control!
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/22/13 7:09:41 PM
Game "hopping" is part of being a "gamer". I am a gamer, my friends are gamers, my sons are gamers. We are not "World of Warcrafters" or "Ultimaers" or "Evers", we are gamers. If a game piques my interest I check it out. I stop playing plenty of games, which include mmos, and hop to the next for many different reasons. Maybe boredom of WoW lobby ques, or LoLs repetitiveness, or Dark Souls' unforgiving combat, etc. Checking out games is what "gamers" do. Many people here are looking for new "lives" not games.

Not totally free or an MMORPG, but what about Diablo 3? Soloable, gear, mobs, graphics, gear, mobs, AH, gear, mobs, buffs, etc...

Too many variables but I doubt age is the cause. GW2 PvP isnt too gear based so its not time dedicated to grinding. Maybe mmo bgs just arent your thing. Were they before you were 40 something?

Finally giving this game a go

Originally posted by Tsuru I think spending IP on T1 runes and T3 runes is the way to go but many champs are like 6300 IP, that IP is better saved for runes. I think its just fine to spend some cash on champs. But I definitely suggest trying them out during their free week before being bought. To the OP, the game isnt to noob friendy. It has a giant learning curve and an ill tempered community. Bot games are the way to go to learn mechanics and such. Fortunately, once you have a grasp of the game, it is incredibly rewarding PvP experience. Just master the understanding of the game prior to solo quein regs. |

i think it would be a great setting for an mmo. Instead of making a Skyrim mmo it would be better to be a TES mmo. They could use all the lore n story from previous ES games. Any IP can become an mmo, but I believe that TES series would be great. Of course many mehanics would have to be dropped, changed and many more added. But as an IP, I dont think there would be a much better one. There are already many races with great dislike for each other. Some have enslaved others, over took others lands etc. Its already perfectly set up for Realm v Realm v Realm. |

Things you hate in this game?
General Discussion « League of Legends - Clash of Fates 1/06/12 5:59:22 PM
Outside of the of the playerbase/community there isnt much I dislike about LoL. I just wish they would introduce new maps for classic. Not a new mode like dominion(which I personally dislike). I would imagine that it is not that hard to create variations of 3 lane maps. At least not as hard as developing new "balanced" champs as often as they do. But I guess there is more money in champs than maps.

an insight of how a few can still think MO is a good game?
General Discussion « Mortal Online 1/05/12 2:26:34 PM
MMOs today always seems to have a focus on only one certain aspect of a world, whether it be PvP, PvE, or being a furry The next MMO that realizes the balance between having free-for-all PvP, fully-lootable corpses, and a safe enough stable for my neon horses, I'm in." Im in too, especially for the neon horses. |

Unless you like soloing in a MMO, Id stray from it. WoW's questing areas are desolate. Its a lobby game now. LFD, LFR killed the feeling of being in an active, living world. Its pretty much down to everyone sitting in the capital city showing off their new shiny and staring at trade trolls. |

SWTOR is supposed to have a good story. And Im sure that your decisions shape your story to an extent.,I dunno from 1st hand experience though. I stopped with MMOs for a bit and got Skyrim. Its incredible, but Im also looking around for a MMO experience as well. WoWs gear grind and LFG LFR made me LFNewGame. |

I stopped playing mmorpgs and turned to LoL for a while as well. Its great fun and a very pure form of PvP. But, MOBA communities are generally horendous and intolerable. Which led me away from the genre(unless I need a quick PvP fix). The thing that I enjoyed most about MMOs was exploration, team work and community. Unfortunately, I havnt found an MMO lately that has those. I dont care so much about the "blingy blingy Look at my Shiny" kinda gear grindy system and unfortunately thats all Ive experienced lately. I realize that an MMO is really what you make of it, but not all lemons can be turned into lemonade.

I am not "hardcore" in comparison to the "real hardcores", so I do not mind not being a "top player" or the best of the best. I have a family and a job so my goal isnt to be one either. I do enjoy both PvE and PvP and as long as you find a group of like minded individuals to play with then your experience will be fulfilling. But I do find the jobless wonders of the world who play 50+hrs a week to be a little disturbed. |
