What kind of questing do you enjoy?

Preferably quests that involve some type of risk, or at least brain activity... leisurely walking across the country side to the next 'click' waypoint (or 3) is just so monotonous.

Risk like what? I can't think of any quests in any mmorpg that really have any real risk to them. 

 

Brain Activity like how? Are you talking about puzzle quests? Maybe you should try TSW, they have some quests that make you think, I really didn't like the game or the quests in it but some people seem too. I don't think they would fit into ES world though.

Most quests in any game are pretty much just "boring, generic or unenjoyable" as you describe in one way or another. Just like how a book is a book and its filled with words, a quest is pretty much following a set of choices or tasks to get to an end and killing stuff or preforming an action - task is really only how it can be played out in a video game.

Yes trying to be everything to everyone is impossible. I think ESO is pretty fun though but YMMV :P Can't wait for CU though watch the forum over there everyday and the community is pretty good so far. We will see when the new batch of backers come in though with each of their own new views of how the game should be if it stays civil for long, lol.

Just an FYI, Elder Scrolls is based off of a table top RPG that was the first to do something radically different at the time...

NO CLASSES, NO LEVELS, SKILL BASED ONLY.

no classes, no levels, skill based only, no required quests, no required direction, from day one able to go anywhere in the map even if foolish to do so.

People here are trying to suggest that the Elder Scrolls is not all that to them that its something different. Well that might be the case for them but the elements i have listed above where EXPLICT  design choices by the series, it is the pillar of the series.

That is what ES games are to you, other people have different opinions of what they are to them. Wow, who would of thunk that people have different opinons...

I voted for it but not sure I will play it just because its F2P. If they have some kind of sub option I might check it out though.

So it was a review of the first 15 levels, there is still 35 more, 50+ and 50++ also PvP not to mention all the horizontal progression and the large group content.

Angry Joe should stick to console games and crying, he is better at those than mmorpg's.

Wildstar and all the other WoW clones suffer from the same issue.  Why divest yourself of close to 10 years of experience and progression to play a carbon copy of something that isn't as good and polished?  It isn't human nature to give up all they've gained while playing WoW to start fresh in pretty much the same game.  Some will, but many will not else we'd had run away hit after run away hit post WoW boom.  But seeing as almost every single WoW clone failed, so will Wildstar.

I don't agree with you much azzamasin, but on this I do 100%.

I never felt compelled to strap an ipad to my face and game. Maybe when they perfect it in 5 years or so I might check it out but right now it is still a baby industry with nothing really supporting it except the niche fans around it.
I knew I would pre order it after I played the second beta weekend. 
If you leave your faith in the press to whether you personally will like a game or not I would have to say you're a fool. They praised SWtor and see how that played out. How easily sheople forget...

I'd much rather play too but I assure you in a subscription game your not.  A great majority of your time is spent doing menial tasks that prolong your leveling sessions and force you to keep subscribing.  Inventory space and Mounts are 2 of the most common issues.  I doubt you'd ever play a game that put KNOWN restraints on you like limiting game time so why would you play one or prefer one that put artificial HIDDEN restraints?

Isn't this the game? Playing the game to advance your character, I thought that is how most RPG style games have always been. No I don't play games that restrict my play time. Your argument is falling on deaf ears (blind eyes in this case) because I will never see your side of the coin as more enjoyable to me. I understand you like playing cash shop games, I do not.
