This game kind of reminds me of Dragon Age Inquisition which I only really played for about a week or so. That got a 9/10 on gamespot. I think I'm going to pass on this one, maybe if I had a PS4 I would get it but not for PC.
No, PvP is the Past and the Future for MMO's to actually be MMO's. PvE is now geared toward the more casual , soloist focused player taking the MM out the MMO.
 
It's a Casual Themepark game, how hard to you think its going to be?
There were only a few hundred DF players that really stuck to that game, I doubt they will come anywhere close to 5000.
I don't think the common targeted PvE MMO player wants any kind of real challenge. They want to log in for a bit, do one or two things, get huge rewards and log out. A tougher AI would require him to probably group up with real people and spend some time thinking of a strategy on how to tackle whatever feat they may be doing, this all would take too much time and effort. 
His grouping could be better.

You can want to say anything I guess... but feel free to go check out the KS page.  What I posted was the entry level as far as I can tell.. and those were limited.  It was $200+ once those were gone.

 

Really? What I paid for Alpha during KS was $110 for Young Hero. You could of been in IT for 175 or 180 but they were limited and if you didn't get in on it, it's way too late to cry about it now.

I really didn't even want to be in Alpha I just wanted to give them more money than 60 so I went with 110.

As the gaming industry gets older and more popular, more and more niche genres and titles are emerging.  There are simply better genres out there for competitive players looking for a human challenge. The only true form of PvP that MMOs do better than any other is the DAoC massive war-style battle arena but really do they do it better than the other genres or have the other genres just not tried to emulate it yet? Really we've only had 1 attempt at a massive war style game outside of classic MMOs and that was PlanetSide.  Perhaps, the technology isn't there yet because both GW2 and ESO have massive lag issues with their grand style conquest.

 

That's my opinion anyway. I think MMOs would be a lot better off if they dropped PvP entirely and focused on PvE.

I agree with this. Maybe separate pvp that doesn't effect pve. Most of the nerfing is pvp centered.

Horrible idea, I think if the game isn't designed around being either PvE or PvP the mess that comes from trying to do both is doomed from the start.

The bad examples of PvP added to these themepark games as just another ride  to grind up has not been going well. Games that are designed around PvP as the main feature set will always be better at it than games that have it as an added feature.

I do, I would rather give money to a team trying to make a good game than download some piece of F2P trash any day of the year. I do also make sure the team is actually capable of making the game they say they are so I can say I have not been burned in the 3 that I have KS'd. I missed the Pathfinder KS'er but bought into it recently because it is something that is interesting and have to say the community there has been outstanding so far.

Actually all of the communities for all the games I have KS'ed have been 1000 times better than any of the mass appeal games I have played in the last 10 years. 

So again, yes I will continue to support great idea's for games through KS'er but also making sure the team is able to do it, cough cough Greed Monger cough cough.

Just have the site/app pop up a dialog that says "Sorry, maybe this app/game/product/restaurant/hotel just wasn't for you?" instead?

If you read some of the negative comments on those sites you can see a lot of people are, kind of, mentally challenged. We aren't talking about reviewing a finished product here, we are talking about a design plan for a game, but if you want to use that as your example then so be it.

When you're taking people's money, you should be ready for their criticism.

If those weren't kickstarter games, I may have agreed with you.  But, they're being funded by people like you and me as well, not just a publisher.

Also, I don't care about your opinion of someone's mental capacity so I don't know why you felt the need to "repeat" that to me.  I avoided commenting on that nastiness for a reason.

I personally did feel ripped when I paid $60 for TESO, because the game is fundamentally flawed as an MMO (Phasing, High Emphasis on Solo Content, Mediocre End Game, etc.).  Those are things the developers do need to hear, in one way or another for the game to improve.  Otherwise, they do run the risk of alienating a huge number of potential customers.

The trend for people to gang up and run people away (which is what the OP is referring to, let's not lose track of that) is hurting these games more than the opinions of paying customers giving their honest opinions is.

If you are giving your money to someone make sure you know that it is something you want before you give it to them. I know its a hard concept to do, but a little research goes a long way. There are many resources out there for people to look in to before buying anything, so the whole I got ripped off thing just makes those people crying about it look bad.

We aren't talking about some dip shit complaining about his vacuum cleaner shorting out because he sucked up water and it didn't say DO NOT SUCK UP WATER WITH THIS PRODUCT on the box thus him giving a bad review.

Then again maybe that is a good example of what we are talking about, people complaining that the product doesn't do something that it was not designed to do... Good call.

Frankly some people need to hear that a certain game isn't for them.  Instead of the common mentality that seems to pervade the market at the moment that every game should cater to every player.  Instead of trying to force games to change your needs / wants, why not find games that already do?

People that get offended by this simple logic need a reality check, plain and simple.

Even when people understand that a game is not for them they still bitch and complain about that game in every thread here. That is what 99% of the posts on this forum are about. If you take any thread from the CU page on this site, you can go down and see the same people complaining about the same thing in all of them. They know the game is not for them but still cannot resist the urge to repeat the same arguments over and over. It might be a defect in some humans were they can't put two and two together. 

It happend to ESO also, they came out with a planned design and released what they were doing with in the game they were making and people went ape shit. They then revised it, it seemed that way from what they initially came out and said about the game, to what it was at launch. I don't know if this is a good example because there was nothing concrete about the game except some concepts of how it was going to be but it seemed like they changed it a bit after the initial backlash from some people.

It's obvious people get butt hurt when they find out a game isn't for them. Look at all the PvE lovers that are coming out against CU and Crowfall. Those games are for a specific niche crowd who like PvP based games mixed with strategy, if you aren't into this type of game move on. PvP games have always been my type of game since DAoC and I'm glad to see this type of game being resurrected in some new forms.

Pantheon is not a game for me, its PvE based with quests. I'm not offended in any way that this game is what others might be looking for and I wish it well. I don't like PvE games, I find them boring but I'm not going to bitch and cry about how the game should have PvP in it so I can play it. I will just not follow it as its not for me, I know its a hard move for most people to let things go but its the era we live in now that people are used to mass appeal games.

Just like you wouldn't find me at a Country music concert, I don't like that type of music. I don't know... people just like to bitch about anything and everything today.

I'd take a WoW clone over any of the upcoming kickstarter MMO's.  They look atrocious in quality.

I like MMO's with high quality models, animations, and textures.  I don't want to play something that looks like it was made over 15 years ago.

It seems lately that aesthetic quality is in the East, with titles such as Black Desert, Moonlight Blade, Skyforge, Revelation, etc.

It's pretty bad when Blizzard cancels their Titan MMO , or when SOE is sold, and EQN's future is in question.  

So you would like a pretty looking shallow game you can burn through in a month over a not as pretty game that is more complex and unique? You sir would be the cause of where we are at if this is so.

There's only so many ways 3-lanes 5-characters kill-enemy-base can be packed. MOBAs won't be the next MMOs.

Never said they would be the next MMO's.

The public has spoken and the AAA guys have listened and gave up. They realized they weren't making WoW money with the well polished clones and folded up shop. They will now be aiming their sites on the MOBA genre and squeezing the blood out of that until its dry.
