It would be a safe bet to guess that there are a lot of people downloading the client. Since there is a finite amount of bandwidth available, it will go slow. |

The Rise of Kunark bundle is the best deal. You get the base game, four expansions and a handful of adventure packs for $40. It includes everything sold for the game up until now. |

If someone really can't afford $50 to play a game, they should probably be out looking for work instead of spending hours playing a MMO......

You have to remember that about the time when Everquest was being developed, a pay-per-hour model was seriously being considered as the payment method for the game. This was before the flat monthly fee or item shop models were standardized for the industry. A lot of thought was given to maximizing the time players would spend logged in, making more money for the developer. I think this may be a hold over from those plans, but then again I may just be cynical. |

Flash is a 2D medium for the most part, where object oriented C++ allows for 3D game play. |

There is still an NDA in place, but the game forums are open to public view. Features, screenshots and game discussion in all areas of gameplay are being openly displayed. It doesn't seem that Gravity is too concerned with game information getting out at this point. |

Most games carry the "T" rating, but the ESRB does not rate online content for obvious reasons. Expect exposure to bad language and bad behaviour in any online game. The lowest common denominator will always find a way to show themselves. The majority of games will have their rating clearly displayed on the retail box or the official website. |

Originally posted by Vrika That's right. If you have an OEM copy of XP it may not work on other hardware, depending on the license. That's always a good thing to check for when you buy OEM machines. If you have an actual Windows disk (full or upgrade) you can use it forever. I was assuming that was the case. |

You can also install or upgrade to a new Windows OS without re-formatting the hard drive. It's always a good idea to back up your data and reformat from time to time to clean out the garbage, but that's not required. Edit- You will have to reactivate XP if moving the license to another machine or switching motherboards, which can usually be done online, but you don't have to purchase it again. If you switch the license "too often" for Microsoft, it will require a toll free call to India to activate. They will ask you if the OS is being used on only one machine, then give you a code to unlock it. |

EQ2 fits most of your requirements. It may be lacking in endgame content, as most games are, but it should take a while to get there unless you are just blasting through the game. I played for about six months or so casually and made it to the mid-40's in level with my main. I also had several alts for crafting. There is also a good deal included with the latest expansion, all of the previous expansions are included in the $40 price. I have not played Guild Wars, so I couldn't comment on Nightfall.

Jumpgate Evolution is looking promising, but still a ways off. This one looks to be closest to the EVE model of any others I have heard of in development. I haven't played the original Jumpgate, so I couldn't properly comment on that game. Fallen Earth looks good so far. It has had a very slow development cycle and I wonder if it has the funding behind it to be successful. It's a great idea for a game. Star Trek Online is one I had high hopes for. There have been several problems involving the developer in recent months which gives me pause on the success of that game. It will certainly be a battle royal between the fanboys and haters when it gets released. I hope it all works out and becomes a fun game to play. There are a handful of sci-fi themed games out there currently, but EVE pretty much has a monopoly on the high-end type of "space style" MMO right now. Most of the sci-fi-themed MMOs are either low quality or fantasy-style games with sci-fi textures. There have been multiple attempts and false starts at getting these games into the market. There is also a high failure rate unfortunately. |

From the EULA: "While participating in the Game you will respect the rights of others to play and enjoy the game world as intended by Ping0 and the Game’s creators, and you will not engage in any unlawful, harassing or offensive conduct." "While participating in the Game, you may not use, publish, solicit or encourage any vulgar, abusive, sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, hateful or racially or ethnically offensive content or language, including without limitation ethnic slurs or religious epithets. " And from the forums: "You may not use sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially, nationally or ethnically offensive language. You may not deliberately misspell, or substitute punctuation or other special characters in, filtered words to circumvent the filter." |

I think a lot of people will take the "wait and see" approach. It really doesn't make much sense to pay a monthly fee now for content that hasn't been released yet. If the hardcore modes and other items they are offering now to subscribers are desirable to some people, they should subscribe. It's just not enough for me yet. If they crank out some cool additional content over the upcoming months I'll consider it. |
