If it was just his grounded movement that was effected, then I would say lag was a possibility. However, seeing as he is magically manipulating the Z axis as well, I'd say that definitely looks like a cheat of some kind.

I'm an Overwatch participant on CS:GO so I have a pretty good eye for what is possible and what isn't in the realm of first person shooters. I've been playing these games since the inception of the genre. He also appeared to be clipping through objects, possibly going under the ground and then coming back out.

Rats.  Was really hoping to get into the console version and not have to wonder if I died fair-and-square or by hax.

Caught this while I was playing.  Has to just be lag, right?  It's not possible to hack a game client on a console, right?  Anyone know?  The game's too new for this, at least on PS4, if it is a hack  :(

AMD vs nVidia - it's about a draw really, and you need to compare specific cards to get any kind of meaningful data.

Some cards use more power than others (AMD and nVidia both, you gotta look at specific models). Driver differences go either way, depending on which week of the month it is, but both are updated semi-regularly. Both cards support pretty much every game you'd want to play, but optimizations go either way (I can find about as many AMD-optimized titles as nVidia ones).

AMD has a bit better multi-monitor support, speaking generically, and supports Mantle for as long as that remains somewhat relevant. nVidia has proprietary things that are nice sometimes (GSync, Shield streaming, PhysX, etc), and much better Linux support.

Crossfire/SLI - both are pretty spotty in coverage on these, and I'd steer clear of either one if you can help it at all.

Now, comparing card manufacturers (Sapphire, Gigabyte, Asus, PowerColor, etc) - there are some differences there, particularly when you get into the non-reference stuff. that can make a world of difference. And when it comes to temps/noise, that's pretty much all on the manufacturer and not so much on AMD/nVidia.

I've run both brands, I go with whichever model at the time I'm buying as the most bang for the amount of bucks I'm willing to spend. Some days that's AMD, some days that's nVidia, and as I long as I get a good card manufacturer, I've never regretted going one way or the other. Don't get too caught up in the red/green power struggle, just get the best for your dollar.

Thanks for the comments guys.  I think I'll stick with NVIDIA then.

I've only ever used NVIDIA products but was thinking about picking up an AMD card.  However, I keep hearing that AMD's cards are more prone to crashes and BSOD, and that the drivers aren't as good as NVIDIA's.  What comments do any of you have on the issue?  I'd especially like to hear from people that have used GPU's from both companies.  Thanks!
Why does this post use the term appalling?  I came, read it . . . what the heck.  Appalling would be the 10 seconds of my life I'll never get back now.

LOL, yes the classic example about how to do it wrong, but there is hope even for you to one day realize your error.

LoL .. as if there is a "wrong" way to use entertainment products. I use it in any way I like it ... not only there is little anyone can do about that, devs seem to respond and cater to players like me.

People always do as they like, it just isn't always good for them or society (or gaming) as a whole.  Even if Dev's are catering to you, don't take it as a compliment, as they are currently pandering  to the lowest common denominator, it makes the most money after all.

Who says how you like to play is better ? Have you done some study or market research to show this or are you just some guy on a forum that thinks his way is better than someone else's.

You call people the lowest common denominator because they treat games like games and not a substitute for real life but I doubt you'd get much support if you said it like that.

My money is on some guy on a forum.

I remember the first week or so, GW2 was absolutely riddled with accounts being hacked because of their pathetic security.  Not only does ESO not have this problem at all, but this has probably been the smoothest launch to date (and I've played them all).  Also, the quest bugs all seem to be resolved.  Great job, Zenimax!

Technically, it's Headstart, not launch.  Just saying.

I agree, nothing more needs to be said, I got my Planetside2 Alpha Squad Package off an e-mail from that web address.  Also, as was stated earlier in this thread:

Right at the bottom: "Check your settings on your e-mail account.  It's possible that you have our emails blocked or they are being marked as spam.  You will need to allow mail from or"

That's a mighty sophisticated phising operation if they can post a thread on the official News and Announcements section of the Sony PS2 forums.  You might wanna let SOE know they've been compromised.

Hmmmm . . . might be time to break out my old squig herder.  It would be good to see him again . . . it's been about 2 years.

Originally posted by lizardbones Sub game make more money at release. F2P games make more money long term. So games release as P2P, then go F2P to maximize the money made. I suppose it's possible for a F2P game to make a bunch of money at release too, but we haven't really had a good example of it.
Your example of it is Guild Wars 2, but to acknowledge that would cause several heads around here to explode.

GW2 isn't a F2P game. It's B2P, which is different. It has the advantage of collecting a lot of the initial sales, with the longevity of F2P games. It's really more like the P2P games that go F2P than it is like a F2P game.

Actually, it is a F2P game in every aspect of its design and monetization, but with a front loaded client fee.

"It's B2P, which is different."

That statement is the greatest gift that MMO gamers ever gave the industry.

Hmmm . . . so if every new F2P mmo from here on out charged you $50-$60 up front just to play it, as long as it didn't have a sub, you would still call it F2P?  The fact that I cannot even log into it without paying the fee up front doesn't change the fact I suppose.

I guess the community is grateful for now knowing that the term buy to play (B2P) is hogwash.

Yeah, I didn't really follow that logic either.  I guess I'll go pick up some F2P XBOX games at Gamestop . . . they'll be single player RPG's, not mmo's, but they don't have a sub, so I like to think of them as being free.  Sucks that  I need to shell out 60 bones to be able to play them  though.

I like it.
Miss them?  Yes.  But it likely makes it easier for A-Net to balance the game this way.

people complain this game has no grind.. now people complain it has a grind:P  thing is the grind was always known they had a huge grind in GW1 for this sort of stuff.. you need something for people to strive for and keep playing.. the big difference between the grind here is the equipment isn't necesary to be competative in world vs world or be able to complete PVE content. It's something you need to work for and earn but is not necessary to enjoy the rest of the games content.. :)

What?? who whined that GW2 had no grind? Everyone i've talked to don't want grind! and now they have added grind when they promised to not have grind. Completing AC on Story Mode is hard, especially when people leave everytime you do it and then you can't add more members and have to restart the dungeon. 1 run = 1 piece of gear. YES PLEASE.

I'm not trying to be rude, but you don't seem to know as much about the game as you think you do. The armor you get as a reward for AC story mode is not the dungeon armor, it's generic armour that you get for every story mode in any dungeon. Check the second tab on the armor vendors in Lions Arch, you'll know what I mean. Repeating story mode doesn't get you another piece of the 'generic' armor either.

But, what I'm saying actually makes the situation worse for you and backs up what you are saying. Story mode doesn't even get you the dungeon armour. Tokens from explorable mode do, and explorable mode is much much harder than story mode. Plus, you get less than 1 piece of armor per explorable mode run.

BUT, Anet didn't promise no grind.. they promised no grind for STATS. They delivered what they promised. The grind is for skins.

+1, like this.  That's why I'm partial to this game--I like to solo and am too lazy to group for dungeons.

Someone else wants to do dungeon runs all day?  Be my guest--your toon may look better than mine, but it's not any stronger.

I pose this question: if you want play almost entirely solo, why are you playing an MMO?

*points to the group-vs-solo sticky thread attached permanently to the top the forum*

This question is asked a lot and answered a lot.

Sticky or no, it is still relevant to this thread and the discussion around it :) Although you are right, it is beaten to death :/

It wouldn't be beaten to death if the pro-group players didn't keep asking why play an mmo if you solo, right?

I'm happy for you. I'm glad you enjoy the game so far.

For me, I like the artwork, but I find that other recently-released games on on par with anything that GW2 does. So, while nice, it certainly doesn't blow me away.

Until there is some type of meaningful progression in PvP, this game won't even come close to the time that I spent playing WoW, or Rift, or Aion, etc.

If by PVP proogression you mean ppl that PVP alot will have stronger characters than those that don't--nope, you probably won't be spending as much time with GW2.

Smooth launches. Think about it.

SW:TOR we had the queue times and couldn't get in until all of our names were taken. That's no way to start a launch. In waves, yeah right. Most launches like Warhammer and Age of Conan were terrible. MMO launches are bad.

But GW2 has tested their servers weeks and days in advance in order to make sure that they will have the perfect launch. No crashes, no queue times, just log in and play with a good connection, that's all.

WTH!?!?  I almost spit my coffee all over my screen when I read the first 5 words.  A little bit of warning next time.

Yup. The game's dead.

I got a Samurai Jack feeling as well.

Well elikal, someone piste on official forums that there was an exploit where you could farm turrets on Ilum to max out your valor. This kicked up a storm of forum rage.

Turned out, he was trolling. No such exploit exists.

Now people are upset that the republic is getting spawn camped because they are outnumbered greatly on most servers. This is just due to the fact that in 1.1 Ilum dailies now require player kills to complete, so the republic is kind of screwed due to the imbalance.

Everyone is screaming exploit, but its just some spawncamping due to the poor design of Ilum. The quest changes were made to stop the daily trading and create some actual PvP.

Hm, I see. Thanks.

I always preferred open PVP, but I know the balance is tricky. I recall in Warhammer there were two things which IMO helped a lot: tiered PVP and castle sieges.

The tiered PVP leads to a generally better balance. You can also "learn" PVP on lower level range and grow into the big league step by step.

Castle sieges tend to downplay the imbalance. You can defend a castle with fewer players, you can conquer the castle at odd hours, there are many ways to reduce the imbalance factor. I always felt tiered PVP and castle siege open PVP are must haves for any Triple A MMO.

Order 66, as one poster put it.
