obtained my first "carrot" just a couple of weeks back. the amount of farming needed to obtain it was quite hefty but totally worth it, imo.
i think people who can't find anything to strive for in the game just don't really care about cosmetics or just haven't found the look they want. the game is definitely lacking in the skins department atm, which is surprising tbh. i hope they add more and more armorsets and variety in the coming months so that more people can find their "carrot" to keep them playing.
i'm pretty sure ANet has a ton of artists working for them, so why not have some work on more armorskins? so far, all named lvl 80 exotic armors within the same armor class look the same. hell, even the Mad King exotics have the same skins as those. |

Originally posted by Homitu exactly how i feel, ty. i generally stay far away from zergs unless we're fighting a meta-event boss. DE's just lose any sort of challenge and/or fun once a zerg arrives, imo.
despite what i said, i gotta say, it's a pretty damned awesome feeling when u start an event chain with 2-3 people then see it build up overtime and end up with a crapload of people by the end of the chain. |

i'm on the "GW2 has a great soundtrack but GW1 is a bit better" boat. maybe it's just the nostalgia talking.
anyway, this one is one of the reasons i actually like going to the charr areas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6ySnDUAkos |

as a mostly PvP player in GW1, the change in how u obtain elite skills doesn't bother me at all since i just unlocked pretty much every elite skill with faction BUT i do agree the elite skills are kinda lacking. i really do miss GW1's elites and hope they do some elite skill overhaul. if they don't change them much however, i really doubt it's gonna bother me all that much. i'm still loving the game but i just think this is an aspect of the game that can be improved.

Guild Wars 2 needs elite difficulty content...EDIT:guess i was wrong
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 8/18/12 9:25:31 PM
i think it would be weird to not expect any elite content from ANet. most elite dungeons in GW1 required plenty of coordination during their time. sure most of them are PUG-able these days cause of PvE skills and full hero parties but back then, they were pretty damned hard. heck, do u even remeber when NF just came out and entered the Realm of Torment? that place made a lot of people QQ and it wasn't even an elite area.

ever since they announced they were no longer making campaigns for GW1 and that they were gonna work on GW2 instead. kinda had mixed feelings about it back then since it meant GW1 wasn't gonna get anymore content updates after EOTN but was also excited about the thought of a sequel. fortunately enough, the former wasn't true and we still got free updates - War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, and Winds of Change.

I wonder if there will be the Underworld and/or Fissure of Woe equivalents
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 8/18/12 3:50:32 PM
would be nice to see them as dungeons. i'd also like it if the 3 other gods(Dwayna, Lyssa, Melandru) get their own as well since they didn't have any in GW1. not sure it would work tho since humans are no longer the only playable race. all 4 of the other races have their own beliefs so ANet's going to have to cater to those as well if they don't want people crying inequality.

i'm gonna take a guess that overflow servers work just like GW1's "districts". when a district, or in this case, overflow server, gets filled, another is created to put more people in them. the game being built up on a modified engine GW1 uses, i think there's a good chance they work the same way.

i can see what ur trying to do, and thx, but there are overflow servers that let u play while waiting to get into ur own server. :)

ANet really needs observer mode out ASAP after release. that way you guys can commentate with some of the game audio playing in the background as well(low volume, ofc). i think it'll add some suspense for those watching the cast.

Originally posted by laokoko crafting materials don't take up ur bank space. instead, each kind of material has its own slot in the bank so u don't have to worry about crafting materials taking up the bulk of ur storage space. u can also send all of the crafting materials in ur bag straight to ur bank anywhere in the world in just a couple of clicks. additionally, u can salvage all the gear that u pick up that aren't very valuable into crafting materials as long as u have a salvage kit available. these and the ability to sell items in the auction house from anywhere(but with limitations) makes filling up ur bags actually a bit tough to do. |

i think people are underestimating how fast ANet can make content - free or not. this is the same company that was able to make 2 stand-alone campaigns for GW1 that are as big, if not bigger than the original game(Prophecies) content-wise, as well as Sorrow's Furnace in just 1 1/2 years. not to mention with a dev team with less than 50(?) people at the time.
imagine how much they can do now that they have had 5 years to develop GW2 with 250+ people working on it. sure there are a lot of factors to take into account like the time it takes to implement new systems, reiterating game mechanics, etc. but i can't see those things affecting the development of the game that much that ANet would end up doing the same thing Funcom did back then with AoC.
and besides, have u already forgotten the dreaded phrase "when it's ready" that ANet used to throw around when people ask anything remotely related to a release date? i doubt it's just their version of "no comment". |
