What hype? People have been doing this event literally since GW2 was first playable by the public.

Thiefs, rangers and engineers use medium.

Eles, mesmers and necros use light.

Warriors and guardians use heavy.

What about it? Devs having accounts on GW2guru isn't new or anything like that.
Yes, Guild Wars 2 is going to meet my expectations. It will because I don't expect anything other than what ArenaNet has promised.
2-handed axes. Swords get bigger versions, maces get bigger versions. Why can't axes get bigger versions?

Forge - Preview of Forest Ambush Gameplay

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKYFo9Arrv0

I lost a good portion of the interest I had in this game when I saw that Blinding Arrow projectile turn in mid-flight. I hope that either a) I'm seeing things that aren't actually there or b) that they get rid of that if what I saw was real. I can't see homing projectiles adding anything rewarding to this game at all.

Ayup, first time playing other than the first stress test.

I don't know abou now but back when I played Runescape making a new character meant making a new account. So unless something has changed 200 million accounts really just means 200 million characters made which, while still a damn big number, doesn't really mean all that much.

As fun as this game is GGG need to get rid of that damn accuracy stat in the game. It's annoying enough having your attacks randomly not work during normal gameplay but having it happen in an endgame map full of boss mobs seems like it would be an exercise in frustration.

Awesome trailer, but there is to many games coming out now reated M. Seems like the entire industry is going M.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I never got into Borderlands, but I'm growing curious. A friend kept trying to entice me with the "RPG Elements" but my aim is so fail (ironic since I actually have a license to carry IRL...my aim is no better...be afraid!) that I'm absolutely useless in shooters. That's why I always pick a Biotic in ME games...it's like cheating, but fun! I can fling a ball of energy and know it'll just home in and hit its mark regardless of my failness.

Anyway, tangent. This trailer has made me more interested in trying it, I like the injection of humor amidst the chaos. Always fun. And the purple chick with the exploding powah is right up my alley. Am I going to need to play through the first one to really 'get it'?

Not really. You might need to if you want to understand who some of the more important characters are and also the basic plot of the first game is kind of important but there's nothing really complicated about it. Everything you need to know about it could be found on a wiki in a few minutes although it would probably be more interesting to learn everything by actually playing the game.

Also, if your aim isn't particularly good then you should use shotguns. Any you find that has an accuracy of around 50% or higher should allow you to hit somebody at medium range as long as your reticle os over them.

You see how Anet can twist some words around, and then their fanbase thinks the mostmundane tasks in the game are the greatest things since sliced bread?

I wonder how many hours most of the posters here spent criticizing other games for their mundane quest design.

The difference is that most game designers only give you the picking apples quests....throughout the entire game.  In this case, these mundane quests are completely optional.

On top of that, no one here claimed those renown hearts were the greatest thing since sliced bread.  I for one find them a little boring and only have done them if I want a change of pace.  Which, coincidentally, is exactly why they are there.

You can go back to hating on GW2 now.

In 17 levels of GW2, I killed waves of bandits, I killed waves of cenaurs, I escorted lots of  caravans, and I picked lots of berries.  I may or may not have killed a world boss or two.  At least from what I have seen, content variety is not GW2's strongsuite.  I don't think you can say GW2 offers any greater variety of quests than perhaps WoW or SW:TOR.

Secondly, a change of pace is good, but the SW:TOR space minigame was also supposed to be a change of pace, yet people expected full-on freeform space travel.  My point is, if you're going to create content for a change of pace, at least make that change of pace fun and engaging.  If it's a boring mess, I'm going to call you out on it, which is what I'm doing right now.

This is the problem, you are ignoring the context and focusing on the numbers. You're not looking at these things like you're  helping Farmer John protect his orchard or helping Rancher Sally pick apples for a pie, you're looking at it like you're just killing bandits and picking fruit as the ultimate purpose of what you're doing. You're ignoring what is supposed to make your actions fun and engaging and focusing purely on what you're doing without context. Because of that the problem inherintly lies with you and not the game. You can't call someone out on a game being boring when you are what is making the game boring.

True, we all remember how fun the quests were in SWTOR because NPCS told us all about them!

I'm not entirely sure if you're being sarcastic or not because people actually did say that the questing in TOR was better because of the cutscenes.

Well, if you enjoyed Torchlight more than D1 and D2, and also enjoy skill trees, then chances are you will prefer T2 to D3.  I've played both games, and I far and away prefer D3, as I think it's a better game.  But some of that has to do with the fact that it feels like Diablo through and through, so it has that history behind it. If you aren't as impressed with the first two Diablos, chances are you won't be blown away by this one.

So the safe bet for you would be to probably stick with T2, although a good idea would be to pick up a guest pass from someone who bought a box version of D3 and try it out for yourself.

Curious as to how you can think D3 is like D1/D2 through and through?  Besides its' visual look, everything else so far seems to be done better in Torchlight 2.  But that's me...

Aside from the change in skill progression, I don't understand how anyone would view D3 as anything OTHER than the natural progression of the Diablo series.   Torchlight 2 looks and feels more like WoW than anything resembling Diablo.

Having played both Torchlight 2 and WoW, you really need to stop pulling things like this out of your ass. Torchlight 2 feels and plays nothing like WoW does and no person who has any amount of intelligence at all can say it does.

I am playing in the beta and I got to say that I kinda like Diablo 3 better due to the looting (i love how everything i see is mine), the storyline (It's more darker, more interesting, Torchlight 2 is about a renegade on the loose, but Diablo is about destroying major devils of evil bringing destruction of the world and AAA quality cinematics. Torchlight 2 does support modding (although I wish it was as huge as Elder Scrolls community), and the not always on DRM (yes, i dislike that due to how I can no longer use a trainer or character editor to fiddle in single-player and how the server goes down, you cant play even on single-player).

Torchlight 2 has that same mechanic.

Why don't people make the same complaints about PoE, baring the fact that it's an indy title without a huge fanbase?

Diablo 3 is not Diablo 2.  You can play by yourself same as you can play by yourself in LotRO, but it's still an online game, and Blizzard has always promoted it as such.  If you really want to play a game like this on a road trip or on a plane flight, just download Torchlight II and play that when away from an internet connection and play Diablo 3 when you get home.

The same reason nobody is complaining that games like Guild Wars and Vindictus are online only. Path of Exile is actually making it a feature of the game rather than some shitty DRM.

You guys are silly. All this talk about only 12 hours of game play and the need to tell us your glad you didn't waste your money.....what else can you do for 12 hours that's lots of fun for 60 bucks? Even Disneyland costs more for a day of fun and this game you can keep playing after 12 hours. Seriously people are silly on forums.

I got more than 12 hours out of Bastion and that was only $15.

My guess is that OP powerballed through everything. He's a self-proclaimed Diablo / Dungeon crawler head so he's pretty advance at how to crawl mindless through stuff. I can't see you actually exploring through the entire realm. Collecting the lore books and all that achivement stuff.

Thing about Diablo has always been about running through on harder difficulties so I disagree with you there OP. You run though the difficulties and while trying to get the phattest gear you can for your toon. If you honestly did that all within 12 hours then more power to you, but more than likely that isn't so.

I'm not saying that it is not at all possible to run through the game in 12 hours, but there's no way you are truly going to cover the breath of the game in that amount of time. You should probably take a little more time to enjoy the game imo, but maybe speedballing is your crack.. again no problem with that..

Just that your opinion is probably not that of the average to high-end Diablo player may experience. There's always Hardcore setting. You could do that and run thru by yourself and tell us how long it took you to complete on Insane.. LoL

How's that sound?

Does this really work in this day and age though? Where's the substance, where's the options? What took so damn long to deliver another repeat content grinder? Be it a 12 hour campaign or a 20 hour, it just doesn't sound like there's a whole lot to justify $60 and over a decade of waiting. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems you can get more out of something like TL2 or POE at least for the asking price.

I guess you could say D3 is the iPhone of the ARPG genre, TL2 is the Windows phone 7 and POE is Android, atleast you know with D3 what you will get works and is polished, the others might offer a little more but you'll need to work for it and what they do offer probably wont be as polished or user friendly as D3.

Hardly. Having played the betas for both Path of Exile and Torchlight 2 I can easily say they are some of the most polished betas I've played in. I've only been disconnected once in Path of Exile and I believe I've only seen a single bug so far in Torchlight 2 and I'm on my 4th playthrough of the beta for that.

According to ArenaNet Guild Wars 2 doesn't have a release date yet.

Alright, but quest hubs in WoW are placed right where you would be exploring anyway. I understand that maybe GW2 has these NPCs and quests more spread out, but does it still boil down to "go to a zone for your level range, run around and do quests"?

I don't doubt that regardless of whether my assumption is true, the questing system in GW2 flows better and is a definite improvement over WoW's, but is it just an improvement? Or is it a fundamental change in how questing works? and why?

My point wasn't about exploration. My point was that in WoW nothing happened unless you made it happen and you had no freedom within Blizzard's pre-defined paths.

In GW2 things happen by themselves and players have the freedom to do which content they please at any time in an area rather than being put through a linear path.

WoW: Enter quest hub -> ! -> do stuff -> ? -> get reward -> repeat step 1.

GW2: Run around and do things with the people that are there.
