Mac OS X less secure than Vista...
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 5/04/07 11:38:22 PM
Originally posted by AgtSmithActually, that's not true. http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/selling.html Anyway, guys, does it really matter that they are different and one has a foolish amount more users? Why do most people use Windows, simply:
There is not such thing as 100% security anyway. It's about as real as "Job security", it just doesn't exist, and it never really did anyway, contrary to what so many believe. There is more software written for Windows than any other for the simple reason that there are more possible buyers. Does that mean BSD/OS X/LINUX (or any other one) is pointless? Hardly, a computer is a tool, not a statement (although apple is doing a very good job trying to be a statement.) Is freeBSD and OS X different? Of course yes. Same family? Of course yes, to a degree. Just like you can say Windows are the same family but not "the same" as each other. Disclaimer: I use windows for work, but at home use OS X, Ubuntu, XP on a daily basis. They have their good sides and bad, none are perfect. I don't hate any of them, they all work. I like working on my mac, but I don't hate Windows just because it windows. XP works great and does exactly what I want it too without fail. I virtually never have issues with spyware and viruses because of my computing habits. Which would I use only if I could only pick one? For work XP, because of the software options. Anything else *nix, because if freedom (as in speech). I would go 100% *nix if there was a good Photoshop equivilent out there (don't even mention Gimp). We should be more worried about our degrading rights and freedoms with regard to information and privacy, and choice to use our data/information as we deem fit. Anyway, my 2 cents, carry on. |

The most practical way of showing this info would be similar to vBulletin or other forum software, where they show (## viewing) in the thread/category view, and then in the action thread have the username csv list at the bottom in a box or something

FREEware alternatives to everything 100% free

Originally posted by grimweeperExcept that one. I use free versions of every other piece of software on my machine here at work and home, but Gimp vs Photoshop is no contest. Mind you compaired to PS versions of many years past it's just fine, but doesn't even come close to holding it's own by current versions. I would equate current Gimp to Photoshop 3 or 4, with the current version being 10. A few more for the list, two I use daily. I'm going to have to go with Farscape as well, oh and Wormhole weapons don't bring peace. New Galactica is certainly in second though.

We do store the genre type in our game list, but we have yet to make an advanced search page where this would be usable, I'm sure it will come but can't say when. As for the layout, the layout hasn't changed very much, everything is for the most part where it was before, but with different graphics and style. I've started working on a new style that I hope will eventually replace this one when it's finished. I'm going to put a thread out here next week or so looking for everyones opinions on the current site and what they would change if they could... make sure you post when it appears so I can use your feedback too. We want to please as many as possible so they can enjoy the site!

If it's not listed, it won't come with it, so as dsorrent stated, you are basicly getting just the tower. If could win it, and did win it, the first thing I would personally do is wipe the drive clean and install my own os on it, and would most definatly not be Vista

No, we don't store post images on our servers. There are many free image hosts out there you can use, or if your game has a website, make a pubic folder of something where the images will come from.

Hi there,
Looking at the link there appears to be a forward slash that doesn't belong, and the bhcp isn't necessary to include. Try this: http://www.mmorpg.com/showFeature.cfm/loadFeature/1043/page/8 |

This is already a planned addition, it just happens to be pretty low priority so it hasn't been done yet. Hopefully by end of next week or the beginning of the week after it will be inplace.
Thanks for pointing it out though, had it not been on the list, it would surely have been added! |

Why not use it for creepy purposes...
But seriously, it's a good idea that we are thinking about. It might tie in perfectly with another addition we are thinking of for the profiles. Thanks for pointing this out. |

Hi there,
Our gamelist does differentiate between free and pay games. If you are looking for games that are free, look for games that do not have any dollar signs ($) on their row. If there are no dollar signs, then the game is 100% free to play. |

I say go with what you know.
A change could result in an unforseen calamity. If you are at the point now where you are able to ponder making changes then you are 1) still alive 2) can still think of sound mind hopefully 3) Can attempt repair. It's surprising how many mistakes can be fixed "mid-flight" |

I've changed this to something that should render fine for everyone now.

Actually, yes we did notice. It only affects some people using IE as thier browser. We thought we fixed the problem with this before a few months back, but it started acting up recently. It's on my today list. [edit] I never see it on any browser here, so I didn't realize it was a problem. In the future if anyone sees problems like this, feel free to fire me an email and tell me about it so it can be fixed. Screenshot too would be best. |
