With the ever dwindling population the GM/Councillors are being more concentrated in certain guilds.

It's very easy to see direct influence and action taken from the GM team now and the odd councillors out are being removed.

Basically the new Meta and war is on the Councillor team and has surpassed the game itself. Whoever controls the councillor team controls the game.

dont like it then dont play, if you keep playing the game despite stuff like this then you wont find no sympathy here.

You tell em Death. =)

Hows it going man. Long time. I dont see you around anymore since the MO subforum is pretty dead but you were always a really reasonable supporter of MO.

If you still play, tell Henrick we need some drama over .

hi :), havent played MO since AQ quit the game, we came back for a month when awakening launched but the games combat had changed for the worst so we left again. I will probably try the game on steam release for a couple of weeks but im not getting my hopes up.

im getting a cash grab vibe from this game and heres why...

firstly their lead publisher is in the video and they are using him to help gain trust in its player base wih his experience with games like UO etc.. the truth is hes a publisher he hands out money in return for money he is into profits and a publisher is generally more interested in making something that makes him money than something that is truely great. Also banding around a publishers previous ventures is simply trying to hype a product you have made and having a publisher as 1 of your lead spokesmen sounds like its all about the profits.

next the lead designer was the lead designer on shadowbane which was a disaster of an mmo. Now he may very well have learned a great deal from that project but players wont really know until release.

The tag line for the kickstarter is "game of thrones meets eve online". now i dont koow about the rest of the people watching the kickstarter but i did not see any similarity between crowfall and those 2 things. crowfall imo seemed to be a combination of wow and planetside. These are just buzz words being banded about in the hopes of gaining interest. Its essentially a lie if on release players find out the game has nothing in common.

The game has gone with a wow skin. It looks like wow in appearance and again this is to spike interest because people play wow and to associate your game with wow can only = profits

they  used the term mmo meets strategy game but failed to actually explain where the strategy element comes in and to what degree there would be strategy. the game to me at least seemed to have about as much strategy as planetside which is to say not very much.

procedural voxel terrain can be great but it does subtract from a game in some areas. for example the world will not feel crafted and there wont be any story to its locals. no ruins left long ago no environments with stories to tell and no interesting locations to discover. It will start to feel bland very quickly. With worlds being destroyed and re appearing it will becoem difficult to get attached to any of it.

destructable terrain can be fun, certainly in an mmo but it just seems over the top in this like every small thing you do will tear the scenery apart. I can see this working in a more realistic medieval environment where destruction is limited to siege weapons but its going to get old fast with this and it seems like building a castle isnt exactly worth it.

my main issues with the game and why i think it wont hit kickstarter. (i already backed the game and hope it does succeed however)

1. obviously the lack of experience of the development team

2. lack of publicity for the game.

3. slow progress and little has been shown.

4. hefty kickstarter goal and if it doesnt hit 600k then they got nothing and the money is returned.

5. many recent kickstarters have either failed to materialize or failed to deliver what was promised.

6. no well known license or world to draw from.

7. niche mmo with full pvp

8. 3 races to choose from that are vastly different in a full pvp game means ridiculous balancing issues.

9. most of the game is still whats planned and not what we have currently.

10. mediocre graphics at best.

what i expect FC  to do..

cancel the kickstarter in about 2 weeks then launch the goals on thier website were people can pay to play in the alpha similar to what LIF did. essentially using kickstarter as a means of gaining interest in the game, then offering a method of payment that has no goal or timetable.

i backed the game. Mainly because its the kind of mmo i want to see more of.

But i give this game very little chance of reaching its 600,000 goal. A niche mmo with no existing license or world to draw from being made by first time developers would be lucky to get 300,000.

Hate on mortal online all you like but it was released without a kickstarter and is now 5 years on and still going and no i dont play it.

i believe they wanted to get MO into a state that would allow it to succeed on steam, supposedly after the tc update but who knows..
In truth there are no MO fans on this forum and those that played most likely havent played for at least a year, best to just ask on the official forum

suprised to see mortal online on the list, but i agree that it deserves to be on there, having 1.5million weapon and armor combinations does make it a worthy contender.

but no ultima online? or eve online? they are 2 of only a few mmorpgs wereits common for players to play the game as a crafter

Umm I respectfully disagree.

I think it's still a terrible game as a whole.

MO has the same issue as Xyson.

Both games have great *features* BUT all those great features do NOT make a great *game*

That's the issue - this is what I've been telling so many posters here who think about MMORPGs in terms of features - and think "if game devs just take the best features from 10 different MMOs - we would have the best game ever!"

It doesnt' work like that at all.

Case in point - you can have the best features and still have a terrible game.

For me its the implementation of those features that falls short, they have fishing but it has no real purpose in the economy, they have alchemy but its just ugly ui boxes with very few different types of potion. The areas of the game they fleshed out bugs aside work really well but there are to many features that are complex to understand but the overall output of what you can achieve is very basic. If every feature in MO was as thoughtful as its extraction system then the game would be far better. Also if the ui was more theme based instead of generic

At this point they are adding new content but it just reuses old tired textures and re-hashed models, they need a large money injection or the games just going to go stale

I decided to give MO another go after 2 years and man, did they improve it a lot! it's sooo much more fun now

Check out the video I made while exploring it:

part 1 :

part 2 :

sounds to me like you played it for a few weeks quit then came back and this time found the tutorial and tindrem helpful enough to get into the game.

Thank you for your understanding,
Mortal Online Moderation Staff

The starvault team has constant issues with people ddosing the game and website, at one point it was going down every day at primetime, spamming the forums and attacking the irc channel They've had to re-enable logged in users only on their irc channel recently and the activity in it has dropped back down to 10 people, due to people coming into the irc channel and spamming not just text, but links to certain, eh, illegal content. And they wonder why? Because normal criticism and severe shit like that are punished all the same, they encourage that level of backlash with their own actions. It's their own fault at this point, and if they EVER want to improve the way the community acts, they need to improve themselves first. People dont do these things in this volume unless they feel like they've been wronged.

This post is just more of the same. Maybe someday it'll get through their thick little skulls that their current moderation strategy doesnt, and has never worked.

well reading your post it had nothing constructive to say...

Sup guys, so I've played this game since late 2009.  I've loved it every bit of the way even through all the exploits, bugs, gm corruption, well the list goes on... Anyways, for the past 8-12 months about 90% of the playerbase has been complaining about something that completely removes the skill ceiling from the game.  Mounted Combat, sounds cool right?  Well, it's literally the easiest completely non skill based thing that's been added to the game in almost 5 years.

So what happens when 90% of the player base complains everyday about how broken/overpowered mounts, and mounted combat are?  Well... Nothing, see in mortal online, you don't actually matter and the things that aren't working, simply, don't get fixed or are never looked at.  For almost 12 months mounts (lykiators, lizards that can ride up mountains steeper than humans) and mounted combat in general have been broken by the pure fact they can hit the strongest armors for over 50% of a skilled players HP.  Oh, you're a mage? Well enjoy 90% HP hits.  The skill required to actually land a mounted combat is literally nothing, you point and spam W as fast as you can to get a high momentum damage bonus.  From a dead stop a player can do hundreds of damage to any player in any armor, mounts have upwards of 2 - 3 x's a player's HP and it's near impossible to dismount a  riding player, therefore, making the player that's riding a mount, NEAR INVINCIBLE.  So this has been going on for 6 months, and the only way to enjoy the game is to... well, make a MOUNTED COMBAT CHARACTER.

So, for almost 3 months now the developers, programmers and even CEO of the game have promised a revamp/rebalance to mounts and mounted combat.  On paper, they had some cool changes that might have effected Mounts and Mounted Combat into being more in line to a proper damage base. Also they were supposed to make lizard mounts not be able to climb super steep mountains that even players couldn't traverse.  Unfortunately for the MO community (as garbage as everyone in it is) this is NOT THE CASE.

The patch was dropped yesterday, and after almost 40+ hours of server downtime we are presented with the same bug riddled piece of shit game we all love to play.  Within just a few minutes of getting our small group together, we go out to fight and end up engaging a small group of terrible players.  Doesn't really matter though, because they have lizards that can climb ridiculously steep mountains, and hit players in the best armors for over 60% of their HP in ONE HIT. ONE EASILY AIMED, NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS COMPLETELY UNSKILLED HIT!!!  Normally, I wouldn't even be here posting on these forums, especially not about this game.  I truly feel like STARVAULT bit the bullet on this one, they think they are ready for a steam release, but unfortunately even with the low amount of players it will bring, it is BY FAR NOT READY FOR A STEAM RELEASE, discounting ALL BUGS. The game is COMPLETELY IMBALANCED, AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT!!  So, after all this time... They've had over 6 months now to simply, properly, fix momentum based damage on mounts and mounted combat, and it's very clear to me that they obviously have NO IDEA how to fix it or they just don't care.

There are more than a few ways to fix this, such as, dismounting players with any weapon (at the moment it must be 25+ damage worth of blunt strictly with a pure hit , no handle hit), dismounting players by hitting their MOUNT, the introduction of bolas, properly fixing spear stance ( that still doesn't work after 5 years lol), MANY MORE WAYS TO BALANCE OUT MOUNTED COMBAT... but, NO!!! Instead, players get to ride around on a mount with 2-3x more hp than the highest HP character with almost 0 fear of being dismounted, therefore, riding through groups of people doing 60-90% hp damage to ANYONE IN THE GAME.

All in all, I hate writing shit, especially on forums... but, goddamn, after waiting for this patch for over 3 months now I really didn't care what the fuck they did with the game as long as they balanced out Mounted Combat... but, fuck no. They couldn't or wouldn't bother with that, so fuck it.  I've been blind faith paying for subs for almost 5 years on multiple accounts but tonight, I unsubbed 6 accounts and several more as well because my friends are done with this shit as well.  People can flame this post, hate on it, we all know the game is garbage but why the fuck couldn't we at least make it a little bit enjoyable.  I'm sick and tired of the lies and lying from the CEO, and programmers constantly blaming their mistakes and terrible programming on things that are out of their control.  This game has been fucked for a long time but for me, a player since 2009 beta, and over 200 vet points.  I'm fucking through with it.  Uninstalled, going to slam shots of gin until I pass out. GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK!

this isnt really news, i dont think anyone expected anything other than a complete broken mess and you should know better than to have faith in sv come patch day.

sounds like he got lag switched
they once had a wall of shame but sadly it was removed shortly after the first set of names went up

i think tindrem is already to large, there are players and even guilds who live out their days completely within it, i mean you can if you choose spend your whole time playing within its walls and districts. There is just about everything there, you can mine, chop wood, make gold, pvp and all the books vendors and crafting appliances are there.

But i feel you are missing kind of the point of the game, but it is a sandbox i guess so each to their own.

^^ sorry but a pvp allowed button? i cant think of anyone who would want that.

blue blocking is something you see once, then you learn not to be fooled by it again, i mean it isnt a game breaking issue. Its just an annoyance to those who are new to the game that dont quite understand the game mechanics due to a poorly done tutorial.

once you figure out the swing arcs and how melee combat works blue blocking should no longer be an issue since you always hit what you see on your screen because its client side. If blues are trying to blue block you at a guard zone area whilst you are fighting reds outside, then simply walk away.

not everyone who plays mo cares about the longevity of the game

in mo you can make a fully ready combat char in about 3 days, a veteran can do it in less than 2. you can earn 8g in 10 minutes in tindrem killing bandits enough to buy a  weapon every 10 minutes.

Grind is something mo doesnt have

the days of chopping wood or mining ore as the only means of making gold in mo are long gone.

yet the game still continues
went back to the game recently and i have to say im impressed with the game so far and the changes. However there are several combat balance issues that really do stand out as being wtf decisions, mounts seem to dominate the game now. Even though most of my chars are red it still annoys me when my blue chars die at the hands of reds who know they gain nothing from my demise.
agree, i think the truth is we were spoilt with UO, those who played it back during TSA will have fond memories of that game and it offered so much. So much freedom and so many ways to play, the first truly virtual world. After uo i played SWG and i didnt appreciate it after coming from UO, it felt like a step down. But looking back now SWG was a damn fine game compared to modern mmos..
