Life must be really dull when you wait hours to download a trial for a game you've already made up your mind about long ago. I'm not zealoting about GW2 btw.. but, I tried TSW at beta and hated it and didn't buy it. Never downloaded the trial afterward and also never went to a forum and complained about why I didn't like it. If I don't like a game. I leave it and don't look back. It's useless to spend time watching that games threads and comment about why it's bad. If I'm not playing it I'm not in its forums.

I swear for the life of me that Anet should put a disclaimer at the beginning area saying: ***Warning, to get the full effect of this game please do not follow a structured path. Create a character and get lost for awhile. Wander around and explore things while you learn. You do not have to go from A to B to C. This game reaches its full potential when explored.*** I think this would clear up alot of things with new players. Still playing since day 1, be it casually, but still having fun! |

Originally posted by Volkon I know about upgrades. It's far too often that keeps don't get upgraded because the zerg rotation is too fast. I've seen keeps flip so fast that the last person of a zerg that just took a keep is just getting out of sight as the next zerg is taking the same keep back. It's like a constant rotation. The repetitiveness of this is the only thing that gets a little old. Except for the fact if you're part of the zerg you can get massive karma just flipping keeps. Seriously though, what's the point of a guild claiming a keep and paying for upgrades if it's just gonna be flipped 10 minutes later? Maybe if some guilds would adopt a keep and have regular rotations of members defending it like in Daoc. But, we haven't seen that type of commitment yet. |

I really like WvW, but there are some problems I'd like to see addressed. Keeps are too easy to seige. The biggest problem for me is the constant turn-around of keeps. I'd like to see some kind of scalable progression with keeps that make them harder to conquer the longer they are held. This back and forth swapping of ownership causes alot of the constant zerging. It needs to take a zerg longer than 3-5 minutes to take a keep. There needs to be some kind of rewards system in place like titles, etc to make WvW mean something like RvR did in DAoC. I don't think we need the same RR system but something like it would be nice. Just not have a system where "lifers" can faceroll everyone and their mother because they're RR10. Would a mercenary system work in WvW? If a realm is down people because of time of day, they could hire mercs to help defend keeps, do patrols, etc? These could be part of the guild perks system.

Originally posted by maddhatter44 Well, personally I jump in and do some WvW, some sPvP and some crafting. Run a few dungeons, work on an alt. Find all the different pets on my Ranger, chat a little with guildies, do a little more WvW. That is enough for this "Casual" -- ( i hate that term almost as much as baddie). My real achievments come in my real life. I'm rewarded all I need when I look at my children grow and realize that is the biggest achievment I could ever have. Also the fact they have a father that doesn't spend all day on the computer playing games. I'm going to make up a term to replace "Hardcore" in describing a player that blows through all a games content in the first month. Does anyone have any suggestions? This would be something we could call them in response to calling us "casuals" or "bads". The problem with this genre came when gaming became a profession instead of just enjoyment.

Originally posted by Mothanos QFT, I report every bot I come across.. I do like to tail them when farming mats though. Makes it a whole lot faster farming. I do however make sure and say hi to anyone that comes near so they won't think I'm botting too. |

Originally posted by Tayah I'll concede, I should have said "ALOT of the complainers are". I'm an old school mmo'r myself and would love to see A-Net take some constructive criticism and mold the future of this game to be more like, say, DAoC for example. There are area's that they could really improve on and I think they actually listen to their customers so there is hope. But, there are so many just pure haters that flame this game it's crazy. A-net has made a spectacular game for casual gamers. I don't think they ever intended it to be a hardcore game. Now they're getting blasted in every forum for not being hardcore enough. |

I have a good analogy of why I believe there's so much dissent from some crowd towards this game.
I live in Washington State and we have this beautiful rain forest called the "Hoh Rain Forest". Now, most of the people from the west coast that visit it appreciate it in all its splendor. They relish it for all the beauty the area has to offer. They go down to Ruby Beach and take pictures and beachcomb, they drive up to La Push and check out beach's 1,2 and 3 and go on up the coast to Cape Flattery and are awed by the vistas they take in viewing the western most tip the state overlooking the Pacific Ocean as it joins the Strait of Juan de Fuca. They take it all in and enjoy the beauty of what was created here. Previous games raiders are like people from New York City that come to visit. They could care less of most of the stuff in the area. They're rude to the locals and they just want to hurry up and see and do some stuff quickly so they can go home and leave this hippie shit behind. That's who the complainers are, they're previous games hardcore raiders that are bored shitless and can't just enjoy what took A-net years to make. You'll never win them over unless you give them everything they want and more. |

In the above situation Stormbluff and Henge of Denravi need to work together... That's why 3 sided PvP works so well. I can remember many times in Daoc where Hibs and Mids would team up against the Albs in the frontiers. It almost always happened that way. In particular since transfers are still free either of them should be sending over representatives to coordinate things between the servers. This could work out in their favor and they could really do damage to Jade Quarry.
Still, things suck sometimes. It's times like this especially in something as silly as a game we see the low side of humanity. For whole PvP guilds to leave a server because they get beat is bullsh..t. If they can't think of creative ways to win they just follow the easy way. As if winning WvW actually means anything. |

@Jakdstripper,
Do you not like the WvW fights? I know I can get in and fight for a few hrs just losing track of everything. Sometimes I run with the zerg, sometimes I play the part of the deviant troublemaker just running around in small groups disrupting shipments behind enemy lines. Sometimes I take or defend keeps.. Thing is, I never find myself looking at my exp bar like I always did with other mmo's. Funny, it's not important to me here. There are some things I feel they could do to improve and personally I'll wait for awhile and see if they do. I just don't get all the slamming people do. When I left WoW, I didn't go running to the forums to tell everyone why. I just moved on. I suppose I just can't relate. |

Originally posted by Betakodo Fun is subjective... I think the problem is that the game was made very casual. I'm a casual player, I tend to play real life more than games, but I like to play a few hrs a day if I can. I could see getting burned out too if I played anything 8-10 hrs a day. I think all the complaining we're seeing is from the raid type people who rush to 80 and think they have nothing left to do. In that case I guess you finished the game. Move on. As for me, I'm having a blast taking my time and just having fun with no structure in mind. Personal experiences may vary. My twist on this post is just because I ate more hot dogs in a short period of time than the maker of the hot dogs intended doesn't mean I have to slam hot dogs saying they're all bad. We know they rock ! |

I've been drawn to the Norn starting areas more than any other... I guess the second is Human's. I haven't even played in the Asura zone and only a little in the Char when I was running through to AC. |
