I am quite interested in seeing how this one turns out.  The offline option is actually pretty cool for me.

I am not going to read any of the posts here, so if this has already been said, forgive me.

Schadenfreude + "I told you so"

That is all.

AND SECONDLY

Why is it so hard to make money in the game without having an economic background or a NYSE Stockmarket analytical mind.  I do not understand Market principles needed to turn wealth into wealth.  I want to hunt and get lucky with drops to sell.  I want to run a dungeon without having to spend half my income from that dungeon in repair costs and travel costs.

I fell like the descision to polish what is there, as opposed to releasing crap is almost always a good one.

Also, economic background or not, game economies are simple and straight forward:

  • Time = Money
  • If you feel like you don't have enough wealth in game, spend more time to gather that wealth
  • If you feel like your time is not getting you as much gold as it should, then look at the things that other people are buying and selling.
  • If the economy frustrates you, pay it no mind (this is what I do, although I don't find game economies frustrating, just a bit tedious).  It isn't like you are going to be gimped without that super awesome legendary skin.

This looks amazing, but there is one thing I am unsure of...

Does any other game have something that compares to this?

...

uh...what?  I am not sure I believe that you really think that these free content updates are premade time gated content...

First off, there isn't any need to time gate stuff in GW2, and second, I don't really get the feeling that content is finished and then shelved for release at a certain date.  If anything, they like to go back and reiterate things.  Anet isn't exactly huge, either and this will be their second world event in 2 months.

Lastly, the game released in september.  My guess is 6 months to a year befor the first expansion comes out.

Fractals of the mists = challenge missions (GW1) + multi-path dungeons (GW2)

I have high hopes for this dungeon.

fixed for you.  And there probably shouldn't be a debate on religious views on these forums.

Personally, I love holiday events.  They shake things up a bit, allow the developers to do fun things (like any good event does).  It makes my holidays feel even more special (and amkes me feel less guity that I am playing a game instead of spending all my time with my family).

Finally, a thought on the title of the tread.  Given that most people play a limited number of MMOs at a time, why would it matter that most MMOs seem to have holiday events of some kind?  Maybe what you really want is for MMOs to have fewer holidays that have events...

EDIT:  clearly Tyfon isn't a fan of Mad King Thorn (from Guild Wars)

LOTRO combat already felt slow compared to games like WoW before I played GW2, I only played the game because of the setting and the story - I bought Rohan with my free Turbine points as a lifetimer, but I can barely log in and each fight looks like one of those old B movie slow motion crap.

Even WoW looks slow compared to GW2, and I still rate it as one of the most responsive combat engine of MMO history. I found myself trying to dodge attacks, and being frustrated I wasn't able to.

GW2 is suppose to be a fast paced game it seems based on the number of quickslots they give you.

Personally, I feel that having fewer skills does not change the pace of combat.  The complexity of combat is somewhat reduced (read streamlined) but there are many things you need to pay attention to other than large numbers of skills (and lots of people just use macros to deal with that).

The only MMO I was still playing before GW2 was GW1, and I feel the same about it now after playing GW2 for a few months (though GW2 has spoiled me with the ability to move while casting).

A possible beginning to GW2 on the E-sports scene?

It was always their goal.

"The survivor part of the monthly title doesn’t reset on death. Once you die, you cannot get the monthly achievement title. I believe it should reset on death, that way you can still earn it."

You do realize that it does already, it just shows you your best attempt so far...

My apology for my English Gramma. As u can see i dont post in the forum that often as the matter of fact this is my first times ever i posted my opinion toward something. I just find rediculous when all the fan boys blindly defend the game. Yes English is not my first language and this is not high school. Thank you for fixing my mistakes but no thanks i got my Bachalor degrees. And please stop hating me. I'm just posting my opinions ... if u agree with me thumb up if not thumb down no big deal.

Yes...opinions.  I think you said something about facts, so I decided to rant about it.

I don't hate.  Period.  Full stop.  I don't hate you.  I don't hate anyone.

Players blindly defending GW2 would be if they didn't see that there are problems with the game.  I don't see this happening at all.  I do see a lot of people enjoying the game and ignoring the occasional problem here and there.

Oh, and yeah, I kinda missed that you had been a member since 2010 so my comment about you having so few posts was fairly dumb.  Sorry about that.

Ok, so everyone seems to be afraid of criticize ...says Mr. I-have-only-two-posts... the "greatest game ever", Guild Wars'cuz its gonna upset all the fan boys and girls outthere. BUT admit it, GUILD WAR 2 is NOT really that great ...in your opinion!  The game doesn't rewrite MMO history like all the fan boys and girls have always said ...no we haven't.  It's not even better than RIFT ...in your opinion. GW2 has no raids... btw, if u call dynamic events raiding, that's because when the definition of RAID (redundant array of independent disks) came out you were just 3 years old...

*rant continues for a while*

...for you fan boys and girls to face the fact that its NOT the greatest game ever and its just another MMO better than some and worse than a few.

I made a few grammar and spelling corrections to help me read this post, and I inserted my commentary on specific things you said.

However, what i really wanted to address is the complete misunderstanding of reality you revealed in typing the part at the end...

How good a game is is subjective, and each person can have their own opinion.  Facts are objective, and are not subject to an individual's opinion.  YOU do not think that GW2 is the greatest game ever.  This does not make it a fact.

...Oh, and if you do not find my RAID vs. raid comment funny, I apologize.

A little background on kripparian, he was in one of the top WoW PvE progression guilds back in the day... he was the first to kill inferno diablo on hardcore in d3, and he is a powergamer + min/maxer.

So how many of you had a feeling the PvE would come up short?  Anet is not really known for creating challenging PvE, and many people had their concerns about a game which featured 5man endgame pve, as tuning content for 5 players simply will never have the depth of encounters you can design for larger numbers.

This video is about how he thinks that a rage timer could improve boss fights.  Who knows, he might be right.

He also said this: "The overall PvE, with the quests and stuff, thats pretty awesome..."

Have you had any issues with any specific specializations other than dps-oriented ones?

No.

I play a guardian, and I feel that defensive specs on guardian are quite viable.

You might consider that a PURE defensive build isn't going to be as good as a heavily defensive build that has more utility, and you need to learn the best way to play any given build and in what situations one build is better than others.

I really think of things in terms of sPvP, so I can tell you that a defensive spec warrior is viable, as I use one, but you aren't going to be able to do what an offensive warrior can do, you are just going to have to see what works best for you in different situations.

Also, not every build is meant to be a 1v1 build...

...and condition clensing...use it.

...oh and necro...so good at everything.

I said no because I do not believe that MMOs should have subs at all.  Then again, I don't believe the sub model is actually the best model for MMOs anymore anyways.

This thread isn't for people who are tossing out personal attacks at me just because I stopped being a fanboi... This is to apologize to the people that I once judged unfairly when they were much more objective than me.

If you really feel the need to try and assassinate my character just because I no longer blindly love the game as you do... go ahead, but it just makes you look as silly as I once did.

Example of a personal attack: "Your mother was a hamster and your father smellt of elder berries."

What is happening here: we are bringing up the fact that none of your claims about being a fanboy in the past can be shown.  If you do have a posting history, it isn't here, so why not link some of your mistaken claims to show us HOW you were wrong, break down these "past conversations" and dissect your wrongdoing.  It would give you the credibility we say you are lacking.

It appears to me that, of the ways that you can gain credibilty, "look, my post count is bigger than yours" don't seem to appeal to you, and saying things with lots of objective information (links, posting history, comparison charts of false claims and actual results) doesn't seem to be in your style.  Maybe try using some other method (this might help a bit).

Now, in fairness, my opinions are all completely moot, as forums are completely devoid of any requirement for facts, credibility, listening to what others say, or rational responses.  I guess it is up to other posters to call offenders out on these things...

Lastly, I certainly am not going to admit to being wrong about this game.  I enjoy the game immensely.  To me, that is what matters.

3. The game is still full of quests, they are just cloaked in the veil of dynamic content and personal story.

I think this is a case of method of presentation being the issue, not the fact that there are "quests" in the game.

I think this is probably the best quest grinder theme park to come out in recent years.

I think you might be doing it wrong...

...a lack of focus on quest based leveling (favoring party based leveling instead) ...Parties aren't going to make themselves for you...Thu=is game is totally built around being with other people.  Also, read number seven from your own list.

Just a couple of comments on my opinion of some of your opinions.

I'm not going to say anything about your preferences of forced grouping other than to say that most players probably disagree with you and that forcing something isn't always the best way to get things done.  A community can be built, and has been built, without forcing people into pugs.  If you want to see where community is likely playing a part in gameplay, try WvW.

One last thing though...if you are going to being up your gaming history with FFXI and FFXIV, maybe you should say something more than that you played them.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, though.

That's right, at least 20 milion active players involved, which is going to destroy everything else. I'm confident about my recipe because I've been accurate with my predictions on the MMORPG's that's been coming out over the last 5 years as well as my hardcore MMORPG experience that spans over a decade.

I was too busy gaming to bother giving ideas and helping a company develop a superior MMORPG. I was also not interested to make $, cuz I prefered the free time to enjoy MMORPG's. I know how badly companies need innovations and ideas for developing projects, but in same time I would not want to be taken advantage of.

Regardless, one thing is for sure I've been a hardcore MMORPG fan since the genre itself started and the community must agree that we deserve better, FAR better from what WOW introduced 8 years ago.

So since I find myself MMORPG free at the moment and without a really appealing upcoming MMORPG in near future, I have to go by "If its not happening, got to do it myself" or keep hitting my head in a wall, trying to enjoy what's avaliable"

So right now I'm trying to find info like which company would be most interested and willing or investors to begin business with and finally deliver justice to this genre. Anyone who've had similar path and experience as well as some tips or interested in anything else you're welcome to replay here or private message me, thx.

tl;dr  I've got a bridge to sell you.

Fixed.

ok, that joke aside, Ill respond for real.

If I were doing something like this, I would start by making a game in a different medium, such as table top RPG, both as a way to plan out what I want to do, and as a way to show others what you have, and what you want to do with it.  This may or may not be applicable to your idea, but in any situation, having a road map general and having a way to sell your idea is probably a good idea if you want others to pay attention to you.

Not to make you folks feel bad, but you could have downloaded the client, even without an account or prepurchasing, months ago...
