Love it or Hate it, EVE Online is still the ONLY GOOD News in the MMO World.
Jita (General) « EVE Online 5/31/13 4:08:22 PM
Ive been playing EVE for several years now and I enjoy it quite a bit. Ive been with a Corp (guild) for 3 of the 4 years ive played so that may influence why I enjoy the game so much. I found when i first started the game I had to change my mindset. I went into it with a WoW mindset and quickly grew bored of the game and quit.
about a year later i came back to it with a friend and tried again, it was difficult but once i wrapped my mind around the concept of the game and its pacing I found I really enjoyed it. I think the hardest part for players coming into EVE is understanding the concept and getting into the mindset of the game. Having good and crazy friends in my Corp has definitely made the game interesting, its a lot of laughs and never boring. The game can be difficult but the sense of freedom is really nice. Its not the best game by any stretch but its one that has held my attention for 4 years and I enjoy it for what it is.

MMOs need to reward you for dying like FPS games
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/30/13 3:02:29 PM
I personally like harder games. Its one of the reasons i play EVE. Having that sense of loss after losing your favorite ship definitely fuels many emotions that normal mmo's dont approach I think.
That moment your at 5% hp and you know that if you die you will lose your favorite ship, the adrenaline starts going, you start sweating and get really amped up. You are fighting to stay rational and not panic. The enemy is pushing harder, you realize that you cant make it... POP you lose your fav ship. First thing that crosses into most EVE players minds is damit im going to get revenge and murder that bastard :P. Having a sense of loss really increases the immersion for me and those adrenaline rushs in pvping knowing that you are staking a lot on the line makes it incredible. Game may end up making my calm self an adrenaline junkie :P.
Just my 2 cents and experiences from having a penalizing system like EVE. Nothing is like it and some people love the rush, others hate it but its still interesting all the same imo.

The big one that comes to mind is Final Fantasy 11. Its old and has dated graphics but it has one of the best communities ive seen. Join a Linkshell (Guild). Find people around your level and travel to an area to camp out at. Its very mellow because the combat is slower paced allowing you to chat and really have a relaxed time. Like i said, be aware its an older game but you may enjoy it. Just recently came out with a new expansion and for 40 dollars you can get everything. All the xpacs and bonus content, another thing to note is it has a massive amount of content so be ready for a lot of stuff to experience.
Good to see an old ragnarok players. good game :) had a lvl 95 Biochemist back in the day :). |

I started playing the game a few days ago with a friend of mine. Ive found it pretty fun so far. I play it for a few hours here and there so ive been enjoying it. I cant see it as a game to devote 20-40 hours a week to like some people do but its fun for a enjoyable romp here and there. I think the Foundry is going to add a huge amount of life to the game. Its one of the best choices you can make for an mmo. Let the players build the content :)

Fun game. I personally didnt have any trouble connecting to the server. for me it was the origin friendlist and the sim city friend list that were having a cock fight lol. Great game though and honestly i wasnt surprised about the issues. For the most part its worked fine for me and i recomend the game. Its great :).

The game is in Open beta as stated by the developers. They are offering cosmetics and small things in the cashshop for those that wish to support the game. While I dislike commenting on threads like these, I wasnt going to let misinformation be spread about a game with developers that are working very hard on a well thought out game. The game does crash, beta's have bugs and being DDOSed on top of it isnt helpful either. Ive played since early closed beta and can say that its worth playing despite the server instability.

Kill right mechanics have changed, from what ive seen you can only get them by podding someone in highsec or lowsec. Stealing items only gives you a suspect flag for 15 mins where anyone in system can attack you.

Youll probably be fine. Just becareful of your mining toon. People will watch in belts for miners and try to gank them. its become less prominent with the mining barge changes but goonswarm is still trying to gank them.

Is Lord of the Rings Online really worth it?
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 12/22/12 4:01:06 PM
Id say that if you enjoy the lore and story, its a good game. I played it with a friend for awhile and really enjoyed it. One of the best parts of the game was the community. Pretty much everyone i met was friendly and informative towards a newer player. I also joined the large kinship on my server, funny thing was I was the youngest in it at age 21.
TLDR. Its a great game with a nice community. Id recomend it. |

These kinds of things are what have made me play EVE for 3 years now haha. It gets pretty stressful when a ship you spent the last 2 days saving up to buy is in danger of being destroyed. you start getting nervous and going oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck haha. Its not for everyone but the adrenaline rush during pvp is second to none.

I got my copy of Diablo 3 as a birthday gift from a friend, Its pretty decent if you can get it free or for a cheap price. absolutely not worth 60 dollars in my opinion. Id have trouble even paying 30 to be honest. I think a 20 dollar price tag is appropriate value but thats just my 2 cents.

Poll: Is Guild Wars 2 going to meet your expectations?
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 8/07/12 12:37:40 AM
I pre-purchased a few monthes back because I thought GW1 was great and i liked the stuff i had been hearing. The beta's definitely confirmed in my mind that it was a worthwhile purchase. just my 2cents.

I wouldnt recomend playing a melee class as that requires quite good reflexes and situational awareness but I imagine youd enjoy the ranged classes such as elementalist/Ranger etc. They are less reflex bound and generally have better survivability.
Hope it helps Best wishes Saint |

I bought the LTS for TSW and will buy GW2 because....
General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 6/28/12 2:31:04 PM
Originally posted by Maitrader I can respect that sentiment. I really look forward to GW2 my self. Ive pre-purchased and have enjoyed the betas etc. I hope your wife enjoys Gw2 with you as I imagine it will be a blast to play with a partner :). The PVE content is really nice so even if she isnt into pvp I imagine you guys can find something fun to do. I kind of chuckle a bit when people bicker between mmos considering one is P2P and one is B2P. Different markets that wont compete against each other. I mean if I was interested in TSW I would have bought both lol. TSW isnt my style of game but I still wish it the best. Im just really pleased that developers are finally branching out and producing unique things now. Been too long since ive really oohed and Ahhed over a mmo if you know what I mean

Thats cool Maitrader. I hope you enjoy the game. Lifetime subs are really dangerous for the longevity of a company so I really hope they dont go too far with it. Turbine was probably the biggest example of why you shouldnt do them haha.. |

General Discussion « Guild Wars 2 6/28/12 2:13:05 PM
Biggest thing I can say is, If you want to support TSW, Do not buy the life time subscription. Look at what Turbine did with all the LOTRO life time subs. They had a large lumpsum up front but a year down the road they had no revenue left. Everyone bought life times and that butchered the game later on because of it. Lifetime subs are great for the end user but tend to be a terrible idea buisness wise down the road. I hate to see something similiar happen to another mmo.
Im not saying dont sub to the game. Im just saying that lifetime subs actually end up hurting the game later on which may cause it to go free to play like LOTRO had to.
Best wishes and I hope you enjoy the game Saint |

Mining in EVE - why has it gone neglected for so long?
Jita (General) « EVE Online 6/12/12 3:39:36 PM
I stand with the "Dont fix it if it aint broke" crowd to be honest. Mining may be boring for some but I personally enjoy that relaxing it is. Mine some roids, chit chat, read a book, watch a movie. its a really stress-free way to make some decent isk and relax. I think if they added some kind of minigame to mining it would honestly ruin that aspect of the game. For example if I want something thats really highly engaging I would go pvp or run missions etc.
My 2 cents Best wishes Saint |

Maps dont make Riot games more money. Thats why they sell champions all the time. First day champion sales. They announced a new map maybe a year and 1/2 ago? still no information on release of it. Nice game but terrible company in my honest opinion. |

Torchlight 2: The Disgruntled Pony: DarkPony Tackles Torchlight 2!
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/19/12 8:46:35 PM
I played the beta for a few hours the other day with a friend of mine on co-op. I really enjoyed the difficulty of the game. With two of us on Veteran the monsters actually would beat your face in if you werent careful. The wide variety of areas and monster types was quite nice as well. Definitely enjoying it for its old school feel. (omfg opinion) Best wishes Saint |
