Similiarly to justice points etc in WoW you use these point to purchase gear i70 gear which is a requirement to get into further content. Its similiar to gearing up by doing heroics in WoW. Currently there are two dungeons that are the primary means of getting these tomes.

Castrum Meridian (CM) and Amdapor keep (AK). Castrum Meridian is one of the most efficient and timely ways to gather Philo tomes which have a cap of 2000 and no weekly cap. Ampdapor keep is run for the end boss giving 40 Myth tomes which have a weekly cap of 300. Mythology tomes are used for i90 gear which is required for the upper stages of Coil of Bahamut.

Generally to be completely geared you need to run CM about 60 times at around 25-30 minutes per run. This will result in you being completely i70 geared and having your Relic. AK is a 4 man dungeon and CM is a 8man dungeon. Coil is the current "endgame" dungeon and is 8man. You also have Hardmode of the primal fights which are all 8 man and pretty fun though titan is difficult.

in the 2.1 patch they will be introducing 2 new dungeons and a 24 man raid "Crystal Tower" The endgame isnt very fleshed out yet as well it just rereleased but they plan to add more which is promising.

TL:DR if you liked WoW's justice point style gearing system you will most likely enjoy final fantasy's.

As a more personal note ive found the game immensely fun and i log in each day to play. I was a fan of FF XI and am in a fun Guild that i enjoy progressing with so mileage will vary and personally i am biased towards the game :).

Yeah just run CM 60 times, no big deal. Do eight AK runs a week. Not thrilling end game content by any stretch of the imagination.

I can understand what you mean. Im hoping in future patches they will add more dungeons to break things up as after running CM 50+ times I think i rather eat a cactus.. pointy end first. Overall though im excited for Coil of Bahamut and Crystal tower. Its not a game for everyone but I thought id list off how the endgame is currently and my thoughts. For me its enough that im enjoying the game with my guild and we are hoping to progress. The game has a large population currently so luckily its not hard finding interesting people to play with to lighten the less entertaining parts.

1. The base class is important for the fact it determines where you start. For example if you make an Arcanist you will start in Lominsa or if you go Lancer you will start in Gridania. This effects the beginning of your characters story. You only need one character because that one character can be any class at any time. Say you want to play as a Gladiator you equip a one handed sword but then say your friend needs help you can equip a wand and become a conjurer and heal him.

The classes level independantly of each other so if you get to 20 as a arcanist and switch to lancer you will be level 1. The advanced jobs can be switched as well. For example if you have the Summoner soul gem equipped you can just equip the Dragoon soul gem to switch.

2. For job requirements you need to have them on the same character. There are very few cases where you will need more than one character. So for example to become a White mage you need Conjurer 30 and Gladiator 15. So you get to 30 on conjurer and then level up gladiator or any combination of the two. Its a quest to unlock an advanced job so as long as you have the class requirements you are fine.

Best way to think of the system is that the Classes (Conjurer, Archer, Gladiator etc) are the building blocks you need to unlock the Jobs (White Mage, Summoner, Scholar etc) Jobs tend to be very party focused and are super specialized towards one role. For example a White mage is almost exclusively a healer. So generally if you are leveling doing quests etc youll be using Classes instead of jobs as they allow you to mix and match abilities where a Job restricts you to one role.

Ive been playing EVE for several years now and I enjoy it quite a bit. Ive been with a Corp (guild) for 3 of the 4 years ive played so that may influence why I enjoy the game so much. I found when i first started the game I had to change my mindset. I went into it with a WoW mindset and quickly grew bored of the game and quit.

about a year later i came back to it with a friend and tried again, it was difficult but once i wrapped my mind around the concept of the game and its pacing I found I really enjoyed it. I think the hardest part for players coming into EVE is understanding the concept and getting into the mindset of the game. Having good and crazy friends in my Corp has definitely made the game interesting, its a lot of laughs and never boring. The game can be difficult but the sense of freedom is really nice. Its not the best game by any stretch but its one that has held my attention for 4 years and I enjoy it for what it is.

I personally like harder games. Its one of the reasons i play EVE. Having that sense of loss after losing your favorite ship definitely fuels many emotions that normal mmo's dont approach I think.

That moment your at 5% hp and you know that if you die you will lose your favorite ship, the adrenaline starts going, you start sweating and get really amped up.  You are fighting to stay rational and not panic. The enemy is pushing harder, you realize that you cant make it... POP you lose your fav ship. First thing that crosses into most EVE players minds is damit im going to get revenge and murder that bastard :P. Having a sense of loss really increases the immersion for me and those adrenaline rushs in pvping knowing that you are staking a lot on the line makes it incredible. Game may end up making my calm self an adrenaline junkie :P.

Just my 2 cents and experiences from having a penalizing system like EVE. Nothing is like it and some people love the rush, others hate it but its still interesting all the same imo.

The big one that comes to mind is Final Fantasy 11. Its old and has dated graphics but it has one of the best communities ive seen. Join a Linkshell (Guild). Find people around your level and travel to an area to camp out at. Its very mellow because the combat is slower paced allowing you to chat and really have a relaxed time.

Like i said, be aware its an older game but you may enjoy it. Just recently came out with a new expansion and for 40 dollars you can get everything. All the xpacs and bonus content, another thing to note is it has a massive amount of content so be ready for a lot of stuff to experience.

Good to see an old ragnarok players. good game :) had a lvl 95 Biochemist back in the day :).

I started playing the game a few days ago with a friend of mine. Ive found it pretty fun so far. I play it for a few hours here and there so ive been enjoying it. I cant see it as a game to devote 20-40 hours a week to like some people do but its fun for a enjoyable romp here and there. I think the Foundry is going to add a huge amount of life to the game. Its one of the best choices you can make for an mmo. Let the players build the content :)

Saint.

Fun game. I personally didnt have any trouble connecting to the server. for me it was the origin friendlist and the sim city friend list that were having a cock fight lol. Great game though and honestly i wasnt surprised about the issues. For the most part its worked fine for me and i recomend the game. Its great :).

The game is in Open beta as stated by the developers. They are offering cosmetics and small things in the cashshop for those that wish to support the game. While I dislike commenting on threads like these, I wasnt going to let misinformation be spread about a game with developers that are working very hard on a well thought out game. The game does crash, beta's have bugs and being DDOSed on top of it isnt helpful either. Ive played since early closed beta and can say that its worth playing despite the server instability.

Kill right mechanics have changed, from what ive seen you can only get them by podding someone in highsec or lowsec. Stealing items only gives you a suspect flag for 15 mins where anyone in system can attack you.
Youll probably be fine. Just becareful of your mining toon. People will watch in belts for miners and try to gank them. its become less prominent with the mining barge changes but goonswarm is still trying to gank them.

Id say that if you enjoy the lore and story, its a good game. I played it with a friend for awhile and really enjoyed it. One of the best parts of the game was the community. Pretty much everyone i met was friendly and informative towards a newer player. I also joined the large kinship on my server, funny thing was I was the youngest in it at age 21.

TLDR. Its a great game with a nice community. Id recomend it.

These kinds of things are what have made me play EVE for 3 years now haha. It gets pretty stressful when a ship you spent the last 2 days saving up to buy is in danger of being destroyed. you start getting nervous and going oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck haha. Its not for everyone but the adrenaline rush during pvp is second to none.
I got my copy of Diablo 3 as a birthday gift from a friend, Its pretty decent if you can get it free or for a cheap price. absolutely not worth 60 dollars in my opinion. Id have trouble even paying 30 to be honest. I think a 20 dollar price tag is appropriate value but thats just my 2 cents.
I pre-purchased a few monthes back because I thought GW1 was great and i liked the stuff i had been hearing. The beta's definitely confirmed in my mind that it was a worthwhile purchase. just my 2cents.

I wouldnt recomend playing a melee class as that requires quite good reflexes and situational awareness but I imagine youd enjoy the ranged classes such as elementalist/Ranger etc. They are less reflex bound and generally have better survivability.

Hope it helps

It was released in Korea in march or may. Its going to be released in the philipines in December of this year. Havent found any information relating to a internation release date though they do have a european website for the game. I played the original RO for many years so im hoping this one will be as good :)

Thats cool Maitrader. I hope you enjoy the game. Lifetime subs are really dangerous for the longevity of a company so I really hope they dont go too far with it. Turbine was probably the biggest example of why you shouldnt do them haha..

agreed, I really dont think many have gone LTS, but whatever works for you works for me ;) not sure I can get my lady into GW2 though, shes not huge into PVP lol shes a recent convert (finally got her to give in) but yea I think both games will offer many gamers alot of fun this summer. Also looking forward to both GW2 and TSW camps coming to terms and respecting one another as brethren, not competitors.

I can respect that sentiment. I really look forward to GW2 my self. Ive pre-purchased and have enjoyed the betas etc. I hope your wife enjoys Gw2 with you as I imagine it will be a blast to play with a partner :). The PVE content is really nice so even if she isnt into pvp I imagine you guys can find something fun to do.

I kind of chuckle a bit when people bicker between mmos considering one is P2P and one is B2P. Different markets that wont compete against each other. I mean if I was interested in TSW I would have bought both lol. TSW isnt my style of game but I still wish it the best.

Im just really pleased that developers are finally branching out and producing unique things now. Been too long since ive really oohed and Ahhed over a mmo if you know what I mean

Biggest thing I can say is, If you want to support TSW, Do not buy the life time subscription. Look at what Turbine did with all the  LOTRO life time subs. They had a large lumpsum up front but a year down the road they had no revenue left. Everyone bought life times and that butchered the game later on because of it. Lifetime subs are great for the end user but tend to be a terrible idea buisness wise down the road. I hate to see something similiar happen to another mmo.

Im not saying dont sub to the game. Im just saying that lifetime subs actually end up hurting the game later on which may cause it to go free to play like LOTRO had to.

Best wishes and I hope you enjoy the game
