Its more of a sandbox. You can create a group or faction and have other players join. Group leaders can charge taxes based on goods sold. I don't quite remember but I think you can set other players to enemy and it is recognised by the group.
So, the first part of pvp is to puchase a ship with weapon capabilty. The E10 would probably be the best choice. Then you have to puchase weapons if you vehicle doesn't come with them. Weapons can only be purchased/ mounted at Cutter's port (orbiting station). Finally all that is left is to piss off some other player and start shooting. Last I knew you could still repair anytime you want. So pvp is on the honor system.

The wiki page might help answer some of your questions
Most players end up buying plots of land and building mines, farms and townships. Building requires materials so you have to find a way to make money and buy them or mine them yourself. There is some combat ingame...but it's mostly used for PvP dogfighting below cloud level. The closest thing to politics is the alliance system. You could create a group and recruit players...tax them or pay them bonuses. As for the D20 logo, it means they have used parts of the D20 system.

Star Wars Galaxies: The Complete Online Adventure Ships
News Discussion « General Discussion 11/14/06 9:42:12 PM
I couldn't agree more. Too many loose ends Star Wars Galaxies has made such a bad name for itself...only children that are just discovering star wars will be interested. Would be better to market and create a game for the age group with credit cards. I wonder if they still give 30days free with the software purchase(doesn't look like it...unless I missed something) We will know its over when Wal-mart refuses to allow any SWG product on their shelves. Then maybe Lucasarts will create a mmo game that will be able to stand the test of time. just remember....friends don't let friends play SWG |
