Skills? More skills just makes games a cluster&*(k. Look at Rift, most skills are so situational to be absolutely useless most of the time. Also the more skills you have the harder it is to balance the skills and that is a fact.

I really think Botrytis hit the nail on the head, adding more skills would just make it a mess.

He wants progression that allows vet players to stomp new players. Which is fine and plenty of games do that, but it's as if Anet hasn't been explicitly stating they won't do that since before the game was in beta.

Let me spoil the ending for people looking to have mechanics that give vets any type of significant advantage over new WvW'ers: it's not going to happen. Ever. If you're waiting for that, my advice for you is to move on.

They are currently looking to add in an equalized BG again, they are just working on giving the correct gear for the right classes. Right now there's no equalized BG, it was removed last week to be touched up and will be re-added in the future.

 

Currently there's only the 15v15 and 3v3, however 3v3 requires extreme player skill and high gear, 15v15 is best queued with a 5 man group, and requires decent gear, hopefully the Equalized BG will be back soon.

 

Also in June they are adding a 20v20 Battleground with equalized gear for levels 30-60, you can level up in this BG.

Why don't they have a smaller 10v10,8v8 or 5v5 BG? 15v15 looked like small zergs and 3v3 is great but mainly for extremely competitive play. I would say they are missing that casual competitive middle ground.

There are no battle grounds atm Kuppa, and what you are seeing is not ganking.. It's FFA PvP with a purpose, and assumed risk. 

 

Gamking is not common in AoW. The penalty is too high. 

 

A type of battle ground system is coming though. It will not be the main stay of pvp though. That will remain Wpvp.

Ohh I thought this had BGs. I saw those, but I am looking for something like BGs. I thought the game had it since it's having a tournament, seems kind of wierd to have a competitive tourny with no BGs...

;) There are challenge areas where people do the 1v1 Jianghu Arena, and Wulin Tournys. There is a battle ground system on the Chinese client, which is coming here.

 

Have noticed, you have never seen a post with someone complaining that there are no BGs curently? That should tell you something. There is pvp with meaning all around the world.

 

The closet thing to them currently are school wars, guild wars, and school meeting(were the leader of the school is chosen).

At this point I don't want what I call "pvp with baggage". Which means pvp in which I have to get completely involved in other parts of the game in order to enjoy. I just want good 'ol pvp that I can drop in and play, try out different builds and theorycraft without having to go look for the fight and worry about a ton more things aside from just pvp.

I knew I had seen/heard of BGs in this game, didn't know they weren't on the US client yet. Ill hop onto Neverwinter for now then, the pvp vids I got for that were interesting. Trying to build a pvp rotation with different games.
