And, in GW2 defense, we have had less then 3 days gameplay if we count the BWE and the Monday stress test. Of course we are going to see repeating DEs especially in the newbie areas. Also, I don't think the events will work correctly with the huge number of players all in the same area even if they are scaled. I can't wait to play at about level 30 and see what is out there!

I plan on doing the first DEs "hastily" then moving on to later zones. After the population begins to spread across the areas more, I will get back to the starting hearts and try to experience them fully (level scaling ftw).

Hey good idea! :)

I'm seeing this a lot in this thread about repeating DEs and it wasn't even part of the OP's question, that I could tell.  But nonetheless.....the only DE I repeated was one that I really had a blast on and WANTED to repeat.  Other than that, I just ran around, jumping, climbing, going crazy exploring and running into all kinds of different stuff (and skill pts.) to do.  I literally, LITERALLY just explored.  So I suppose you can do what you WANT.  But what there isn't.....is "quest hubs" where you pick up and turn in quests in bulk.

GW2 was MADE for people that like to explore.  That has always been my favorite thing in MMOs and GW2 has it in spades.  I couldn't be happier with that part of the game.  Fly, be free, go find something to do!  Yes, Sir!

Dude it is just same questing like everywhere only you don't get here any sign over the head of npc. It is like if you take mercedes emblem from mercedes and you say it is different car. In this case it is not mercedes just old rover

But it also depends on if the mercedes has wheels. If it has no wheels then it should have a "!" above it. In GW2 the events/quests can come to you, you can go to them, or they can happen at the same time. Your view on GW2 quest syestm is a bit naive. Your metaphor lacks fuel. :)

My brain works similarly to the OP.  I looked at my map for the next empty heart and made sure it filled up.  By doing just personal story and filling heart quests in my own starting area, I found that I didn't have enough content to level up to do my next personal story quest.  Thankfully, there were three starting zones to complete heart quests in so I was able to find plenty of content to do.

I'm just not the kind of player that can just run around with no purpose and 'look' for stuff.  I end up running in circles and wasting precious gaming time that I never seem to get enough of these days.

Hmm, did you know there are Scouts that can point you to nearby goals and landmarks? Personally I have never had to use them, I'm retired and have time to explore. But, the scouts are perfect for people that don't have time!  Video on Hearts and Scouts.

Tera help.

I always throw this in on these type of threads. Make sure your cpu isn't overheating. If it's been a while since you have opened up the case, blow out the heatsink, or better yet if you know how, take it off, clean it, and get some good thermal paste and remount it. Blow out everything including the video card. I have helped people with computer problems and the first thing I do for them is clean out the computer. Most people just take it for granted the thing gets dusty, but it can have a big effect on performance. Other than that, the computer itself looks like it should run the game and perhaps Quizzical can help more. He is the "Rainman" of computer hardware here.

WoW... and shoot for a higher population server.  If you roll on alliance, goblin is a race to get a good feel for the modernization of WoW.  Amazing starting zone.

I think that for the first time playing WoW they should either play in the human starting near Stormwind or an Orc near Orgimmar. That would set the WoW scene better than the confusion of the goblin starting area. Although I liked the goblin area (not as much as the Worgen story) it just didn't feel like it fit in with the rest of the game. Once off the ship, and in Durator I was at home! :)

I'd say try WoW. Rift is much more linear than WoW. WoW has a starter area for each race which makes playing alts or just starting over again giving it a higher replay value. WoW has more content and if your into PvP there is way more to do. The dungeons are bigger and blah blah blah. I'm not saying Rift is a bad game, I like it, but if you haven't played WoW you owe it to yourself to play it.

I hope everyone who paid for beta is going to buy the actual game, too!

This hurt my brain!  Why would they pay twice?

You can pre-purchase ($60) or pre-order ($5 or $0 depending on where).  I think people are trying to distinguis between those two things.

In my mind, people who are pre-ordering are paying for beta access, or more accurately, paying for a trial.

hmm, sorry. I just try and simplify things by what is a known fact! hehe pre-purchase gets you the game and in the betas. I didn't understand what Anireth was saying. Maybe he is confused about something, or thinking that because some people pre-ordered and were able to somehow get into the beta they will not have to buy the game full price. /shrug

I've just been wondering when it will be. I just pre-ordered the game last night and have been dying to play it already!

I hope you meant you pre-purchased the game last night. Pre-order no bueno for BWE

Question about this -- Does the code activate Immediately or can you sit on it a while...

IE lets say you are about to go on a vacation for 2 weeks but the sale is tomorrow...  Is it like buying the product in a store where you can wait until you come back before activating it -- or does it activate immediately upon purchase such that you would lose 2 weeks out of your free time?

This same exact sale happened about a week ago and i snagged it.

I activated my product code and amazons mask code but not a subscription, the game allowed me to login for 1 or 2 days, i think it was 2 but it might have been one, i only bought it cuz i wanted the game and it was a great deal but im not ready to pay for it yet cuz im currently big into Diablo 3 however i have the option to get the promotion they have as a "founding member" because of this CE sale and subscribe even cheaper.

My point is i think you can just purchase it now, activate your product key and you wont be subbed immediately. So i assume youll still get your free month when you actually decide to sub.

You just need to setup your CC information for the free month. You aren't charged for a fee so you can cancel right after you create it if you want. :)

so you can mouse bind in gw2? i know swtor was the only mmo ive seen that used mouse bindings,it would seem easier to me since i hate having a boatload of keybinds to just bind my dodge to my mouse and whenever i need to dodge just click whenever i wanted to dodge

in terms of learning curve though.i thought they pretty much held your hand thru all the stuff in the beginning anyway, like ive heard the starting levels were pretty easy and then you get past that and its basically hard again

I'm not sure if you got this quote from someone else. Anyway, dodge in GW2 doesn't work like that. You actually just double click the direction you want to dodge in and you roll that way. :)

As far as keybinds, I have a Razer Naga and was able to setup dodge keys on the side buttons, so, I just have to push a button one time and it double clicks. If you have a device like the naga or say a keyboard like the G13 or G15 it's pretty simple to make a dodge macro for each direction and bind it to them.  I heard from someone else that there were keybinds in the game for the dodge actions themselves but I couldn't find them last stress test.

so the default dodge roll is just double clicking in a direction? cuz i figured you had to like keybind it to somethin and that you could keybind your mouse buttons.kinda like with swtor and the default no cost attack you can keybind to your mouse or whatever

Yes, double tapping with any direction key will make you dodge/roll in that direction.  No configuring the UI required for that.

yeah, but i dont use my keyboard to move.can you not just double click or point somewhere with my mouse and click and have my character dodge in the direction i clicked

cuz i never use my keyboard to move in mmos.keyboard turning is for failures imo

So you use the mouse to steer/move with... Do you not strafe? I would suggest getting a different mouse like the razer naga and you can use your thumb on the sidebuttons as your dodge keys. There is nothing you can setup on the UI for clicking. :(

Nope, if you use Q to strafe left just double click it and you will dodge in that direction. The same goes with W, E, and S if thats what you are using to move with.

Edit; I think that in SWToR it was an ability with a cooldown. Here is a video that might help in GW2 dodging.

There are suppose to be 30+ mini games, but they were not in operation for the BWE or the Monday stress test. Maybe next BWE they will have a few working

And yea I play final fantasy. It's not because I like "pain" as you seem to call it, it's because I like a challenge, and a game that I can't beat in a week.

hmm, I have yet to even beat WoW after all these years! How do you beat an mmorpg? Please Sir, lend us you knowledge! :) I haven't played FF, is there an end? Hmm, perhaps I should go to that forum and act a fool.

Yes there is definately a learning curve in GW2, not to play so much, but to play well and effectively.

While playing I commented to my husband at least 5 times " thank God it's not another game designed for morons.. "

True, not like that other game designed for morons, where you run around in circles and bunny hop as much as possible.

Oh wait, thats exactly the strategy for combat in GW2.

Oh that is awesome! A bunny hop skill. What profession and weapon do I need? Or perhaps its a utility skill!!! I can hardly wait!

I am somewhat of a solo player in all mmorpgs. Playing solo has helped me learn one thing when things are going wrong. RUN!

There wasn't to much of a learning curve for me other than trying to remember to pay attention to what I was doing a bit more than other games. No tv on in the the background until I get further developed in an awesome new game!

I say what nerdy man doesn't want a box? Come on!!!

Hehe, see folks I have made you write! This is fun.

But seriously I have looked into the game (not very very much, but some) and I cant really see the THING. Yes its new, yes it has decent graphic, yes with the DE and stuff. But from the videos I have watched it seems just like another wow but a bit different.

As I said before its nothing bad about that if u really like WoW, but as u maybe have figured I dont. Thats why I wonder why ppl seem to be so "sold out" on this game. And yet again I want to tell you "I told you so" when you 30 days of free gameplay is over.

It is like other games in some ways, but completley different in others. It isn't a WoW clone, and it isn't anything like GW1 other than the lore. It's many games in one, yet unique, which is what thousands of us have been waiting for.

I believe in 30 days Sir you will be the one being "I told you so", because it will not be that short lived. :)

Oh, have a good day. Although I don't know how you are getting away with this not being a troll thread and it being locked. Good job!
